Production technology To embark on this project, there is the need for a suitable land that has the following characteristics:
• Humid low land
• Deep and well drained fertile soils
• Optimum temperature of 29oc
•Rainfall amount of about 1,000mm-2,000mm per annum
•Planting Period May-August
•Mulching This is done after planting to prevent evaporation by covering the suckers with weeds after planting
•Pruning This is done regularly to remove overcrowded suckers and transplanting majorly occurs
•Propping This is done with sticks mostly when we experience harsh weather (wind storm), to prevent them from falling, uprooting, and pre harvest.
•Maturity Period 8-10 Months
•Weeding this should be done every 60days
•Harvesting Cut the Pseudo stem down with a sharp cutlass, then cut out the bunch stalk.
