NO, both are not supposed to be cold. One(the big pipe) should be cold while the other(small pipe) is the return which should be warm. Are both pipes touching each other? Even at that, it shouldn't be.

One who's experienced knows what to do. By your narration, the problem is from the Panel. Just that it's not completely damaged that's why it's still working but malfunctioning. And the reason why i said it can still be salvaged.

As for the cost, i don't know. Any unit that has panel is usually very sensitive and without the panel working, the unit won't function well.

This particular servicing, the technicians brought down the entire outdoor unit, took it to the tap and washed with omo and water. I didn't investigate the washing. Then on the indoor unit, he brought out the filters and cleaned them. Then he used a tooth brush to brush some things inside the indoor unit.

The problem is no technician seems to know the cause of the problem including the guy that serviced the AC. He keeps doing trial and error with remote even after I have explained a billion times that it can't be from the remote. He then suggested that we should change panel. How do you change panel when you aren't even sure it's the panel. Then he said board. He's always confused. The other technicians I called are even more confused.

It has nothing to do with the remote. It's a power issue which is a Panel problem because that's what controls the entire indoor unit. An expert must remove the panel, take it for repairs (if it can be repaired) OR replace the panel entirely and you won't suffer that again.

But I'm most likely sure it can be repaired.

Good morning. Please rescue me before I run mad from frustration.

I use an LG Dual inverter AC. 1HP. Purchased brand new sometime in 2019. I recently serviced the AC but after the service, the AC keeps tripping off automatically hourly.

To switch it on again, I have to restart the stabilizer, and then switch it on from the remote. I also noticed that 5-10 seconds before it trips off, the GEN MODE indicator on the indoor unit starts to blink. I have done everything I could think of. I have reset the remote, ensured it's not on timer, ensured the voltage is adequate and even contacted LG Africa directly but they advised to call on LG technician in my area. Now the funny thing is all the technicians I have called are all clueless about this issue. They all keep fumbling with remote, insisting it's timer even after the remote has been reset. I have googled it too but I'm not just seeing solutions. Biko help me. Having to restart it hourly from stabilizer/switch disrupts a lot for me. Thank you.

How was it serviced? From your explanation, i guess water may have affected the panel during service and that may most likely be the culprit. Let the AC technician investigate this and update on the outcome. There's no problem without a solution, it only becomes a problem when there's no solution.

With your explanation, can one say that Dualcool is an advanced technology of Gencool?

It simply means that on the Gencool(dual inverter), when you switch to the Gencool mode, you'll easily power the unit with minimal power consumption i.e using your Gen set when compared to the regular unit. While for Dual cool, the advance inverter achieves cooling faster while doing so at a moderate power consumption.

I always hated inverter ACs but after your posts, I am getting a 2HP Panasonic inverter AC with copper coils.

My first AC was a Panasonic, the experience was out of this world.

My second AC was an LG, the Panasonic was better.

My third will be a Panasonic and going forward, I will stick to Panasonic.

Panasonic is a reliable brand and the one made in Malaysia is very expensive but the best that's why so many opt for LG or other cheaper ones. But if you have the funds, go for it.

For Gencool, the Air conditioner can operate at a lower power level while for the Dualcool, the compressor constantly adjusts the speed to maintain desired temperature levels. This is to save energy and ensures satisfactory cooling.

hi, quick update. I called another service person and he came this morning. He opened a small place by the side of the outdoor unit and noticed some oils on the pipe. He said there's a leak but he'll be back in the evening to ch CK it and fix it. Meanwhile the other two tech guys were insisting previously that there's no leak and if there was, the hose won't drip water like it's doing right now, the pipe will be have frost and the AC won't cool one bit.

As long as there's an oil spill on the AC pipe, then that's an obvious leak. It may not be much but there's an escape of freon from there which must be addressed. Yes, water will still drip under such condition because the leak isn't severe to trigger compressor tripping on & off or the pipe freezing.

Let that be addressed and top up freon. Note again that the chilling effect of AC can also be subject to the weather conditions. If the weather is extremely hot, chilling won't be really felt like when it's not that way.

But follow up and keep updating the progress.

so they took the indoor unit to the car wash already but not the outdoor. The voltage is okay (I guess) because it doesn't trip off like it used to. I'll get the service guy to open it so I can get a picture of the coil. I also noticed that the sound it makes when it picks previously isn't as loud as this one. Also, the outdoor unit is steady dripping water like when it was cooling very well.

You can contact another AC service guy to come inspect as against the one you know. Once you do, update on outcome so i can advise.

The issue;
The AC isn't cooling like wow anymore. Before now, I'll put it off or use a blanket but not anymore.

What I've done: 1. I contacted the guy that installed the AC and he said it must be the gas since he already cleaned the unit. Do he changed the gas. He changed the gas because he felt the AC stayed long without use before I bought it (new). When he checked the gas level, it was at 4% instead of 8% (according to him.) This didn't improve anything.
2. I contacted another guy who took the indoor unit to be vacuumed and when he brought it back, he topped up the gas. Nothing has improved so far.

History of the AC.
Bought new in April but the owner had it for like two years just sitting in the box at home. The first time similar issue of not cooling so much happened, the general cleaning sorted it out.

What can I do guys?

Also, the AC used to cut supply in 5 minutes but all that stopped when I started using a 5kva stab. This was after the first cleaning.

So many things may be responsible for it not cooling properly. If the freon level is normal and there's no leakage, then it may be voltage problem. But if voltage is normal but you still experience the same problem, i will suggest you remove the unit, take it to the car wash guys for pressure pump washing of the indoor & outdoor unit i.e if the unit was previously very dirty before the service.

Because sometimes, if the unit isn't breathing well due to blockage on evaporator coils, it won't chill properly. If you can, snap and upload your evaporator coils let me see the condition.

That's great to know. Ensure you remove and wash filter from time to time depending on your usage so as to keep your evaporator coils very neat.

How often should one service an AC unit?

I bought mine around July, 2021 and it has been working perfectly until i noticed in the last two weeks that setting it at 16 degrees celsius does not evenly cool my room anymore.

Servicing time of an AC unit is dependent on usage and environment. If you run the unit every day for several hours, it should be at most every 3 months but you can always remove the filter, clean and put back every month.

Running the unit for so long without cleaning filters isn't good and after a while, the dust will start penetrating on the evaporator coils and get it blocked which will then require removing and flushing the unit via a pressure pump.

With your description, your AC is over due for service and should be addressed asap.

1. It's usually written on the body of the outdoor unit. You can also ask the seller and they will tell you.

2. No, they aren't same. An AC can be low consumption and also not be an inverter. If it's inverter, it will clearly state so.

3. A copper coil AC is usually brownish in colour of pipe while aluminum is silver colour. Always ask confirm before buying. Again, copper AC is more expensive than Aluminum.

It all depends on a lot of factors. Your budget, how's electricity in that area, will you be powering with a Gen set? Etc

But personally, my advice would be to go for an inverter AC. It'll save you cost on power and also run efficiently even when voltage is low.

Get a 2.5kva generator. It'll power the inverter AC conveniently. Preferably, get 1HP inverter AC. The freon type for those ACs are R410 which doesn't consume power at all due to the type of compressor in it.

Then invite the installer to come back and check. It may be settings but if after checking and you aren't satisfied, contact Fouani for a replacement unit. A lot of factors may cause that.
