AustineE1: Bros keep your advice,I am from Asaba in delta state and I can tell you,no Igbo is more igbo than I am. Igbo runs in my peoples blood day and night. Ndigbo, onye Echezuna nwanne ya! Igbo bu Igbo. Who cares what you are? The fact still remains you can not force people to become what they are not. By the fact that these tribes already have a name for themselves, that means they already have an identity. They can't throw that away. |

You want them to throwaway their identity and embrace the identity that Ajayi Crowther gave you?
So that in future you start calling them Osu and second-class igbos as you are currently doing to Ebonyi people.
Ika, Ikwerre, Ogba and the rest should be wise to reject any attempt to grab their lands and resources using ethnic unification as a decoy.
You are igbo, let them be what they want to be. Stop forcing them. |

FxMasterz: Correct to some extent. However, I want you to understand that Oranmiyan was himself a prince of a Yoruba king. That means Yoruba existed and had a monarchy before Oranmiyan ventured into Benin. Also, you need to note that Oyo is part of Yoruba. So, a reference to Oyo is not a reference to the whole Yoruba. So, while Oranmiyan left Benin to found the Oyo empire, it does not mean He founded the Yoruba people after leaving Benin. Please differentiate between Oyo and Benin. Oranmiyan's activities do not make Benin older than Oyo. Though it might be correct to say the Benin people existed in Nigeria before the Yoruba people settled in Nigeria. However, the Benin never ruled over Oyo but an Oyo Prince once ruled over Benin. I already attached a screenshot below - taken from Wikipedia.
The bone of contention is that the Benin monarchy cannot birth Yoruba monarchy. The Yoruba monarchy is too vast to be an offspring of the Benin monarchy. Make whatever you want of it. Before the arrival of Oranmiyan in Benin, there was already an existing Monarchy and till date , the records of the kings that reigned in Edo are still on record. By the time Benin was created, there was nothing like Yoruba. That's the emphasis. Yoruba as we know it now was first used to refer to Oyo and then recently became an umbrella name for Southwestern Nigerians. Talking about who birth who between ife and Benin is another topic. There are two narratives on what actually happened and you can decide to go with whatever narrative deoending on whose side you belong. The contention between Ife |

Search for knowledge and info on this matter dear brother. What kind of generalization is that? Which history books have you read that tells you people of Benin originated from ife? |

kachistone: Eze Nri (Nri Kingdom) and Eze Aro (Arochukwu) are two prominent Igbo kings. Nri in Anambra state is said to be the home of Igbos. Obi of Onitsha is prominent because of Onitsha. The two kings I first mentioned predate colonialsm. The Igbos had kings before the colonial masters came but the kings were not absolute monarchs.
Infact, Eze Nri was more of a priestly king so he expanded his kingdom through religion while Eze Aro used his military might.
You can read about both of them. Obi of Onitsha is very prominent because of Onitsha. There is nothing like Nri or Eze nri whatsoever kingdom. All igbos agree that igbos dont practice Monarchial style of government. All these nri this , Aro that are all attempts at revisionism. |

muhammaduyusufu: The shehu is not an Emir. If you don't know the simple basics, how do you expect me to take the rest of your post serious.
Ps: Oduduwa is from Oke Ora in present day Ife. Don't confuse his mythical origin with his earthly origin. Big lie! Historical books written by even Yoruba scholars says Oduduwa came from outside Yoruba land. There is no doubt about Oduduwa being a foreigner to Yoruba land. The only thing you yorubas dont want to accept is that he came from Igodomigodo. |

FxMasterz: Lol.
Even your Oba is Ọmọ oba. Not Oba. Ọmọ ọba means prince in Yoruba land. And that's consistent with Yoruba history that says the oba of Benin used to be an Ife prince.
How long is Benin history? What is the population of the Benins? Do you know how far dated the Yoruba history is? And do you know how vast an empire the Oyo Empire used to be from Oyo to Ghana? Do you know how populous the Yoruba race is and the vastness of the speakers of the language globally? How does Benin compare.
Please get your facts right and don't attempt to rewrite history. The Benin king is an Ife prince. Yoruba was created by Ajayi Crowther. Benin has been existing long before Yoruba. What was known was Oyo and ife . Oyo was even more relevant than ife and Benin is way older than Oyo because Oranmiyan left Benin before he established Oyo empire. |

Guestmale: You better thank God for his mercies that we are enjoying in Nigeria through the prayers of His servants, if not the situation could have been worst than this. Bible says righteousness exhort a nation while sin is a reproach, most of the leaders and the citizens of this country are swimming in sins. You can't eat your eat your cake and still have it.
90% of Nigerians are potential thieves only waiting for the opportunity. Church is not the problem of Nigeria but the general citizens. Park well jare. So why are countries that are less religious and less praying than Nigeria better in most aspects of life? Are the citizens of these countries and their leaders holy/righteous? |

Reflect7: But it was Europe that practiced and taught you your Christianity and prayers. Ofcourse but they never let the religion becloud their brain. A functioning brain doesn't believe in prayers. A dormant brain does. When you study mathematical probability and statistics, you will come to understand why out of millions of prayers , some people's wishes/prayers come to pass. Positive and negative occurrence are evenly distributed in nature. Whichever comes your way, embrace it. |
Politics › Re: If God Listens To Prayers Why Is Nigeria The 12th Poorest Worldwide by saddler: 2:29pm On Jul 23, 2025 |
This is because Prayer is a lazy man's fortress. Prayer makes the hands lazy and renders the brain dormant.
Prayers keeps giving you hope until reality sets in.
Show me someone believes in prayers and i wll instantly show you someone who isnt ready to be responsible for their life and choices.
Those who tell you they prayed and received answers are those who either skipped their mathematics class when probability was being taught or they didn't grab the topic.
Show me one prayer that was answered, and i will show you millions that were not answered.
In the end, its all probabilities and no one actually answers prayers.
Just look around you, the world and everything you see, nothing that was made was done by prayers. Everything was done by man putting their asses to worl and in some cases paying with their dear lives to get work done.
Go to Europe and the western world and see their work culture. They dont believe in prayers yet they live better lives. Most of their citizens live to their 80s and 90s without believing in prayers. |
