So sad, lawyers,it appears are the solution to our
problems. If not that the medical personnel would
not condone it. A lawyer could easily be made
minister of health. Engrs (sorry to use d term) are
toothless bull dogs whose barking can not even
be threatening. This development calls for
massive reactions. But sadly Engrs don't talk, we
grumble. I will like to see what reaction will come
from the leadership of NSE
It is so Sad to see many esteemed & highly
respected Engineers with great wealth of
experience existing in Nigeria but the present
administration with its "CHANGE" slogan
combining two large ministries into one
(MINISTRY OF POWER, WORKS & HOUSING)
which to me is highly inappropriate, bypassed
ENGINEERS who are meant to head this ministry
and hand it over to FASHOLA who has no basic
engineering knowledge. What does Fashola know
about Megawatts? Does he know the plight of
Engineers at Generating Stations? Does he
understand what it means to transmit and
Distribute electricity to consumers? With all this in
mind i must confess am highly disappointed with
this ministerial appointment. It's high time NSE,
COREN and other engineering governing bodies all
over the country rise up to this issue. It's a SLAP
ON THE FACE OF EVERY REGISTERED &
PRACTICING ENGINEER!!! |

Goodluck Jonathan came too early for Nigeria.
They said there is no fuel subsidy, why are they
Paying over N400 Billion for subsidy? But
Jonathan did away with subsidy in 2012, your
OCCUPY NIGERIA protests brought subsidy back!
BVN [Bank Verification Number] was introduced
by President Goodluck Jonathan to help fight
fraud and track perennial and serial bank debtors.
This is a specie of the American Social Security
Number that is limited to Bank accounts. Every
person who has a bank account must have a
Biometrics verified BVN.
President Jonathan also introduced a single
payroll account system for all federal civil
servants to fish out ghost workers and ensure
accountability.
President Jonathan also funded the National ID
card system to identify Nigerians. The original
idea for National ID was in 1979.
However, records available in the public domain
show that President Buhari did not register for the
National ID until he became president. He
opposed it.
APC derided President Jonathan for saying that
he will use technology to fight corruption. Talking
of GEJ using digital technology to fight
corruption, there is also the automation of the
entire Customs Clearance Procedure which
eliminated fraud and allows for faster and
smoother clearance of goods at the ports.
Today, APC claims BUHARI HAD PERFORMED
WELL MORE THAN GEJ.
But according to Ibrahim Bunu: “Am perplexed,

Lagos—The presiding President of a Lagos
Customary Court sitting at Agboyi/Ketu, Mr. O.
T. Williams, yesterday advised women to always
do proper investigation before going into
marriage.
He said this while dissolving the marriage of a
38-year-old business woman, Nnenna Nwokonko,
which she contracted with her estranged
husband, Kelechi Nwokonko, over deceit.
The petitioner had, on October 28, asked the
court to dissolve her six-year-old marriage over
alleged threat to life and assault, adding that
the relationship was also built on deceit.
She said: “He lied to me that he is a graduate of
Mass Communication from the University of
Lagos and that he is financially buoyant, only
for me to discover that he is just a school
certificate holder without any genuine means of
income.”
Nnenna presented as evidence text and
WhatsApp messages the respondent, Mr.
Nwokon-ko, allegedly sent her.
One of them read: “I will destroy you with my
mouth. I have seen a man coming out of your
house; I have declared war on you and your
family. If I see you on the streets, I will disgrace
you. I am prepared for war, shameless dog.”
The respondent did not deny the allegations of
deceit or assault, but told the court that he was
not interested in divorcing his wife.
“After consultation with my family and pastors
on the implications of divorce and the effect it
will have on our child, I no longer want to
divorce my wife,” he said.
When the court asked Nnenna if she was willing
to consider the respondent’s plea, she said no.
The President then dissolved the marriage,
saying that there was obviously no more love
and that threat to life had been proven without
reasonable doubt.
The court, however, told the respondent to
appeal within 30 days if he was not happy with
the decision. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/divorce- he-said-he-had-a-degree-in-mass-comm/ |
Following the submission of the report of
the kingmakers, the Niger State governor,
Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has approved
the appointment of Alhaji Muhammad
Sani Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro IV, former
Marafan Borgu, as the 17th Emir of
Borgu.
The new emir is the eldest son of the late
emir of Borgu and was the choice of the
kingmakers after garnering the highest
votes of the kingmakers in a selection
process that took place at the Borgu local
government secretariat, New Bussa, Niger
State, last Saturday.
LEADERSHIP had reported yesterday that
following the report of the kingmakers
submitted to the governor by the Wazirin
of Borgu, Alhaji Abdullahi Nuhu Sa’ad on
Monday, the governor will soon announce
the name of the new emir.
A statement by the Secretary to the
Government of Niger State, Alhaji Shehu
Umar Danyaya, yesterday disclosed that
the emergence of Alhaji Muhammad Sani
Haliru Dantoro came on the heels of the
demise of Senator Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro
III.
The statement added that “the
appointment of the new Emir followed the
decision of the Kingmakers of Borgu
Emirate Council as all the kingmakers
voted in support of the former Marafan
Borgu, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Haliru
Dantoro, who was among the contestants
to the stool from the ruling house of
Gbemusu that indicated interest in the
vacant position.”
According to the SSG, the new emir of
Borgu is expected to bring his knowledge
and wealth of experience to bear on the
performance of his new assignment by
improving on the achievements of his
predecessor.
The new Emir of Borgu was born on
February 2, 1966 at Old Bussa, and
graduated from Ahmadu Bello University,
Zaria, where he studied law and was
called to the Nigerian Bar.
Apart from his private law practice, the
new emir, like his late father, had a stint
in politics before quitting the stage to
focus on his private law practice and
business.
He is married to two wives and they have
seven children.
The Niger State governor is expected to
officially present the new emir with his
letter of appointment and he will formally
assume office today in the presence of
key members of the Borgu Emirate
Traditional Council as well as the
traditional council of the state led by the
Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar
The 16th Emir of Borgu Kingdom, the late
Senator Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro III, died on
October 30 this year in a German hospital
after a protracted illness. http://leadership.ng/news/473588/muhammad- haliru-dantoro-kitoro-iv-emerges-new-emir-of- borgu
