The standout ties of the last 16 draw for the Copa del Rey has paired Barcelona with Athletic Club and Real Madrid with Sevilla.

Barcelona's clash with Athletic is a repeat of the competition's final in 2015, when the Blaugrana emerged victorious on home turf with a 3-1 victory.


Last season's finalists Sevilla will be hoping to gain a measure of revenge on Real Madrid for beating them in heartbreaking fashion in this year's UEFA Super Cup final and will get the chance to do so in Spain's biggest domestic cup competition.


Atletico Madrid take on Las Palmas, while an exciting encounter will see Real Sociedad take on fellow Champions League-chasers Villarreal.


Elsewhere, Valencia have been paired with Celta Vigo, Deportivo with Alaves and Eibar with Osasuna in further all top flight games.

Hoping to do their bit for the lower division sides, Alcorcon have been drawn to face Cordoba.


The dates for the matches to be played are January 4 and January 11.

The acting rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa state, has died after an alleged sex romp with an unidentified female teenager proved too much for him to handle.Vanguard reports that the rector was said to have slumped at his hotel room in Zekoh Place located at Onoharigho street, Ughelli and was rushed to a private clinic, few kilometers from the hotel where he was confirmed dead on arrival.A source at the Ughelli Area Command said the deceased had gone to the hotel in company of a female teenager and booked a room for an hour of love session with the girlSpeaking further, the source said:

“The girl raised an alarm when the chief slumped but absconded following reports that the victim was confirmed dead. “Though no arrest has been made in connection with the incident, a female manager of the hotel was arrested for questioning but has since been released.”

An aspiring teen jockey is determined to ride again after breaking her neck in four places and being left in a coma when she fell from a wall while trying to take a selfie.

Kelsey Bainbridge, 17, was left partially paralysed after falling backwards off the 14ft wall while trying to take the photograph.

The teenager broke her neck in four separate places, leaving a question mark over whether she would ever be able to ride a horse again.

But the battling teen hopes to overcome her disabilities from the accident two years ago with the help of a specially-designed saddle, Chronicle Live reports.

Kelsey spent almost 17 weeks in hospital following the accident.

Her left lung collapsed and she was put into an induced coma for 10 days.

Kelsey, of County Durham, said: “I’m a C5 tetraplegic incomplete, which means that my condition could get better.

“Two years later, the left side of my body is almost back to normal; I can move my head and neck, and left arm and leg fully.

“But my right side was affected much worse. I have trouble moving my arm, can’t move my hand, and have no hip or ankle movement in my right side.

“I've come a long way since the accident – the doctors said I’d have a 50/50 chance of ever walking again, so I was determined to do it.

St Sylvester catholic church is located in New Nyanya, Karu in the local government area of Nasarawa state.

On 27th November 2016, the church witnessed a unique and historical event that will change the lives of 80 couples who decided to each be joined with their spouses in holy matrimony. The church was visited by Most Reverend Dr Ishaya Mattew Audu, catholic bishop of Lafia diocese, Nasarwa state and in advent to celebrate his first pastoral visit to the independent mission, the ceremony was held. A MAN raped his pregnant girlfriend while she was on all fours on her bed in the “advanced stages” of labour, a UK court has heard.

The man allegedly assaulted his partner, despite her “crying out in pain”, at their West Hull home four hours before she gave birth in hospital, The Hull Daily Mail reports.

However the man, who has not been identified, said he couldn’t remember having sex with his girlfriend.

The accused, who is in his 40s, told the Hull Crown Court he and his partner had been writing down the time between each contraction, and he sent a text message to her mother when she said they were “getting worse”.

During cross-examination, prosecutor Michael Greenhalgh said to the accused: “From what you’ve told us, from you getting up that day to her mum arriving, you have not had sex.”

The man responded: “Not as far as I’m aware.”

When Mr Greenhalgh suggested it was a “significant day”, the accused said: “It’s significant having a baby, not having sex.”

Mr Greenhalgh said: “Well, it’s a lot more significant now you’ve been charged with rape.”

The court heard the man was present at the birth and cut the baby’s umbilical cord. The man also said he and his girlfriend had a “healthy sex life” during her pregnancy.
