A new process for creating flexible ‘supercapacitors’ that store more energy and can be recharged more than 30,000 times could revolutionise the industry.

Scientists reckon it will transform the way we use mobile phones, tablets, laptops, wearable tech and even electric vehicles.

Dr Nitin Choudhary, of the University of Central Florida, said: “If they were to replace the batteries with these supercapacitors, you could charge your mobile phone in a few seconds and you wouldn’t need to charge it again for over a week.”

After 18 months or so a smartphone holds a charge for less and less time as the battery begins to degrade.

Scientists have been studying the use of nanomaterials to improve supercapacitors that could enhance or even replace batteries in electronic devices.

But a device that held as much energy as a lithium-ion battery would have to be much, much larger.

Dr Choudhary and colleagues have experimented with applying newly discovered two dimensional materials only a few atoms thick, while other researchers have tried formulations with graphene and other materials, but with limited success.

Team leader Professor Eric Jung explained: “There have been problems in the way people incorporate these two dimensional materials into the existing systems - that’s been a bottleneck in the field.

“We developed a simple chemical synthesis approach so we can very nicely integrate the existing materials with the two dimensional materials.”

So his researchers made supercapacitors composed of millions of nanometre thick wires coated with shells of two dimensional materials.

A highly conductive core facilitates fast electron transfer for quick charging and discharging. And uniformly coated shells of 2D materials yield high energy and power densities.

Dr Choudhary said: “For small electronic devices, our materials are surpassing the conventional ones worldwide in terms of energy density, power density and cyclic stability.”

Cyclic stability is the number of times a battery can be recharged before degrading.

Lithium-ion batteries, used in smartphones, can be recharged fewer than 1,500 times without significant failure while recently developed supercapacitors can be recharged a few thousand times.

But the new process yields a supercapacitor that doesn’t degrade even after it’s be

n recharged 30,000 times.

Supercapacitors that use the new materials could be used in phones and other electronic gadgets, and electric vehicles that could benefit from sudden bursts of power and speed.

And because they are flexible, it could mean a significant advancement in wearable tech, as well.

Added Prof Jung: “It is not ready for commercialisation. But this is a proof of concept demonstration, and our studies show there are very high impacts for many technologies.”

[b]A Nigerian man has cycled 100km while balancing a ball on his head.
Harrison Chinedu , a footballer, cycled a total of 103.6 kilometers across Lagos without dropping the ball.

Chinedu may have broken the Guinness World Record for the farthest distance traveled with a football on the head.
If successful, he will not only break an existing record, he would also have created a new one. It will take around 90 days for the Guinness World Record body to verify and confirm the results.
Chinedu, who played professional football in Cambodia, told CNN he discovered the skill during his 10-year professional football career.
He said he then read about the Guinness World Record and set out to do something extraordinary.
"I did it because I wish to share my God-given talent to the world and to encourage the young ones to do something that has never been done before," he said in a phone interview from his home in Lagos.
According to Chinedu, the most challenging part of his trip was cycling on the Eko bridge, one of the three bridges connecting the Lagos mainland and Lagos Island. It sits over the Lagos lagoon and is 3.43 kilometers long.

He said he found it tough to maintain balance with the high wind speed on the bridge.
Chinedu said with the help of policemen and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officers he was able to navigate through heavy traffic, bumps and potholes on the road.
Responding to critics who have said he could not have kept the ball on his head because of the poor state of some Lagos roads, Chinedu shrugged it off and said he had simply mastered the art.
"Pedaling the bicycle, controlling the ball, watching for traffic- its all calculation," he said.
His first attempt to appear on the Guinness Book of World Records was eight months ago in March this year.
He walked a total distance of 48.08km for 6 hours and 15 minutes while balancing a football on his head.
An Indian soldier, Naib Singh, who walked a total distance of 45.64 km in 2014, previously held the record.

Rapper Kanye West has cancelled all remaining dates on his Saint Pablo tour, two days after abandoning a show in Sacramento, according to US media.

The star had performed just three songs on Saturday night, before embarking on an unscripted rant, criticising Facebook, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton.



He also claimed Beyonce would only agree to play the MTV Awards if she was given the video of the year prize.


After cancelling Sunday's show in LA, West has now scrapped all future dates.

"Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase," a representative told music website Pitchfork.


Los Angeles Times' music writer Gerrick Kennedy had previously alluded to the news on Twitter: "Just got word from a source that @kanyewest informed his crew that remaining dates of US #SaintPabloTour are nixed."

No reason has been given for the cancellation.


The Saint Pablo tour, in which West performed above the stage on an innovative "floating" platform, was scheduled for a further 21 dates before the end of 2016.


A much-rumoured European leg of the tour will now be cast into doubt.

Although West's on stage behaviour has often been erratic, the star has perhaps been under added stress since his wife, Kim Kardashian, was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October.


He learned of the incident while performing in New York and abruptly left the stage to be by her side.


West then cancelled several dates the following week but when the tour resumed in his hometown, Chicago, he appeared content to let the music do the talking.


Nearly a dozen dates passed without incident, until a show in Oakland on 22 October, when he called the Grammys "rigged" and lambasted the New York Post for publishing a story claiming Jay Z had called West a "nut job".

"A crazy person can't do all this," he said. "A crazy person can't make this floating stage."


"Stop writing negative [articles] about me and help me help people," he added.

He ended the night by lecturing the crowd on politics, at one point claiming: "We were brought over here as slaves, and Lincoln turned us into unpaid interns."


On 4 November, he cut a show short after his voice failed, telling fans. "I'm so hoarse I can't finish the show. I'll give everyone a refund."


Then, last Thursday, West embarked on what local reports called a "25-minute-long rant" in which he voiced frustration with politics and told the crowd: "If I would have voted, I would have voted for Trump."


"I wanted to say that before the election, but they told me, 'Whatever you do, don't say that aloud,'" he added.


Angry fans responded by booing the star and throwing items on stage.

'Show's over'


On Saturday, he began his rant by complaining how radio stations favoured certain acts over others.


He later criticised Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg for failing to give him $53m (£42.5m) to get out of debt and said he was hurt that Jay Z failed to visit his family after last month's robbery.


West then appeared to suggest that Jay Z employed hitmen, saying: "Jay Z, I know you got killers, please don't send them at my head".

"Get ready to have a field day, press, because the show's over" he said, as he dropped his microphone and walked out of the concert.

One week after giving birth to her daughter Dream Kardashian, Blac Chyna's already begun trimming off the pregnancy weight.


The 28-year-old revealed on Snapchat on Thursday she's already lost 15 lbs., but despite her quick success, it appears she's still missing her pre-baby body.

The mother-of-two took to Instagram with a sexy throwback Thursday shot of herself from her nude Richardson Magazine cover shoot back in September 2015.

It’s actually going to happen. Donald J Trump will be the next President of the United States.
He may have been full of bluster on the campaign trail, but where does he actually stand on the key issues? We’ve taken a closer look at his policies to see what America might have in store.

Economy

The economy is always one of the biggest issues in any election – and that was as true this year as ever. America has just climbed out of a deep recession and more higher paid jobs are required.
Trump is promising 25 million new jobs through what he calls a “pro-growth tax plan” that he claims will reduce taxes for all income groups. He’s promised taxes will drop up to 35% for some married couples depending on their earnings and childcare costs.
As far as trade deals go, Trump is against the contentious Trans-Pacific Partnership, which aims to deepen economic ties between 12 countries by cutting tariffs and fostering trade to boost economies.
The campaign has also said it would renegotiate terms on Nafta – the North American Free Trade Agreement – and pull out if partners refuse to give the government the deal it wants.
His policies get even more hawkish when it comes to China. According to his campaign website, Trump will declare China a currency manipulator and treat it harshly as a result, raising tariffs and taxes on imports for the country.

Foreign policy

Another hawkish approach here. Trump wants to increase America’s military capabilities as a show of strength to the rest of the world.
He has also pledged military action against
Isis, working with “Arab allies and friends” to fight the insurgency in Iraq and Syria. He has compared the ideological battle against Islamic terrorism to the Cold War and says his government will beat them in the same way.

He has also expressed interest in working with Russia towards this goal, saying the two nations could find “common ground” in the fight against Isis.

Immigration

Trump has declared in his manifesto that he’ll suspend immigration from “dangerous and volatile” regions of the world and create new ideological screening procedures like the US had in the Cold War era.
That infamous wall looks like it’s going to get built. It’s the first point on his 10-point plan to “put America first”.
It will be an “impenetrable physical wall” on the southern border which, Trump says, Mexico will pay for. He has also com
mitted to triple the number immigration and customs enforcement officers.

Bereaved husband refuses to cancel his wedding plans following his bride’s death an hour to their wedding. When 43-year-old Fana Maphumulo woke up on Saturday, November 5, he was probably looking forward to the day that would see him become officially married to the love of his life.

As fate would have it, Fana’s plans did not come to pass, as his lover of about 20 years ended up not walking down the aisle with him, nor will she ever get the chance to do that. Fana’s fiancee, 42-year-old Nana Mkhize, reportedly died an hour before she was to become Mrs Maphumulo. According to reports, Nana had confided in Fana about a dream she had in October, where she had died on her wedding day, but they managed to wave the dream aside and continue with their wedding plans.

Nana who hails from the G section of Umlazi in South Durban, South Africa, was reportedly admitted at a hospital where she eventually died, on the eve of her wedding, after she complained of weakness. According to reports, even after guests who didn’t know about the bride’s death had gathered at the wedding venue, a brave Fana chose to continue with the wedding, asking the pastor to pray while he placed both wedding rings on his finger. Nana and Fana have four children together and had reportedly been planning their wedding for many years, before Nana’s eventual death on the D-day.

Wayne Rooney's future is in doubt at Manchester United. Sources have told ESPN FC that Jose Mourinho is open to the prospect of selling his captain, who has endured a prolonged spell of poor form.

Premier League
ARSENAL:

Rooney has no conceivable place in the current Arsenal attack, which is based on pace and movement with Alexis Sanchez harrowing defenders up front and Mesut Ozil pulling the strings just behind. Replacing either with Rooney is out of the question, and there is no other position where he would fit in, either. He is too slow to play anywhere across the front four and using him as a No. 6 makes no sense given Arsene Wenger's current options there. In fact, it's hard to see him even making the bench at the Emirates.

CHELSEA:

Chelsea's pursuit of Rooney in the summer of 2013 was driven by Mourinho. If Roman Abramovich was ever an admirer, it was of the striker still capable of taking over Premier League matches with his physicality and instinctive brilliance, not the faded shell of a footballer struggling to find a role. Rooney does not fit anywhere into Antonio Conte's high-octane 3-4-3 system, and it is hard to imagine the 31-year-old satisfying the Italian's demand for his players to "eat grass." Astronomical wage demands make the United captain even less appealing and in any case, Chelsea are no longer in the business of solving Mourinho's problems

MAN CITY:

There's no obvious place for Rooney at Manchester City. The touch, movement and vision of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan make them far superior No. 10s, Sergio Aguero's pace and lethal finishing marks him out as a better striker, and Rooney would stifle the growth of youngsters Kelechi Iheanacho and Brazil wonderkid Gabriel Jesus, if he joined as a backup. Rooney also doesn't look sharp enough for the high-pressing demands of a Pep Guardiola team and his passing isn't up to scratch for a style based on ball possession.

LIVERPOOL:

It's unlikely Rooney would want to move to Liverpool. As a youngster, he turned up to a trial at Liverpool in an Everton kit, such was his dislike toward them. He is ruthlessly abused by Liverpool supporters whenever he plays against them, but has often been the thorn in their side throughout his career. It's safe to say the move wouldn't go down well at Anfield and stylistically, the 31-year-old would be an uncomfortable fit for Jurgen Klopp's high-pressing team due to the understandable fact that time is catching up with him.

TOTTENHAM:

He wouldn't get into the team at striker, No. 10 or in midfield, and he wouldn't be able (or willing, probably) to play Mauricio Pochettino's high-intensity pressing game, either. His salary is almost four times higher than Tottenham's top earners, which would cause all sorts of problems. He's still England captain and a superstar, who attracts a lot of headlines and attention. Pochettino prefers to work with young players, focus on the team over individuals and he enjoys Tottenham being out of the limelight. Rooney just doesn't fit.

BARCELONA:
There was a time when Rooney could have been considered a viable candidate to join Barcelona. However, if it was unlikely to happen in his peak, it would never happen now. He's nowhere near the quality of the front three -- Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar -- and isn't quite the midfielder he thinks he is. He certainly wouldn't push out Andres Iniesta or Ivan Rakitic. As a backup? Barca would rather give minutes to developing the likes of Paco Alcacer, Denis Suarez, Rafinha and Andre Gomes.

REAL MADRID:

It is very, very unlikely that Real Madrid would be interested in helping United solve their Rooney problem. Madrid have their own attacking superstar who is on the wane as time catches up with him. But Cristiano Ronaldo is still performing at a much higher level than his one-time Old Trafford teammate. There are also a host of young emerging stars at the Bernabeu, led by Alvaro Morata and Marcos Asensio, who need minutes on the pitch, too. There was a time when president Florentino Perez would have welcomed Rooney with open arms, but that day is long gone.

BAYERN MUNICH:

Poor old Wayne is finished. He was a truly magnificent player as an emerging 18-year-old -- a much more effective player than the shadow he has become. The reality is that he has been finished for years. Attempts to mould him into a midfielder just indicate that he has lost at least two yards of pace. Bayern would probably take Bastian Schweinsteiger back on a free just for old time's sake, to save him rotting in the reserves under Jose Mourinho, but they wouldn't want Rooney.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN:

If it were Rooney in his prime, then the answer would be yes. However, this current version of the England international offers PSG little on the pitch. Off it, he would undoubtedly be a draw in a Ligue 1 now devoid of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's star power, but PSG have no need for the United man. Rooney would not come cheap -- in terms of wages -- and the French champions must start spending their money more wisely, so it would make little sense.
So, who wants Rooney? Europe's heavyweights all appear to be better off without him and reuniting with former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson in China is out of the question as well.
