Syncan: Look at it this way.

Vs 25 "...he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:"

Those who believed in me, but who are gone before you in death, shall have eternal life which faith in me gives.

Vs 26 "And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die..."

And those of you still alive here and do believe in me shall never suffer eternal damnation.
Much clearer now. Sometimes I wonder if I understood that verse well. Someone was using that verse few days ago to insist that Jesus meant believers will not die physically. ( And this is the belief of his entire church)

I had to ask him some questions he's yet to answer.

Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 2:20pm On Aug 06, 2014
Syncan: I'll take the last.

Verse 26 is an affirmation, that those who are alive in the flesh; but believe in Christ, will never suffer eternal death. They shall have that Life which faith in him, who is life, can give in heaven.
Thanks for this...

Now if this is about eternal death, what then does V25 which says even though they are dead, they will live talking about? Does it mean one who believe in Christ can die but then live again? I mean eternal death?.

Syncan: "Then Peter spoke to Jesus. ‘Lord,’ he said ‘it is wonderful for us to be here" Matt. 17:4

It is not often that I feel like peter, in the presence of the transfigured Lord. Many times I am more like Peter of Lk 5:8, at some other times I am even too distracted with cares and concerns of this world to know how I feel. Yet I long, I long for such times, when I am at peace with God, truly in my heart, when I experience the sweet consoling presence of Divinity, when I want to sing continuously; hymns of love and praise in worship, when I do not feel like leaving the presence of the exposed Eucharist...nay, even the one enclosed in the tabernacle...It doesn't matter at this point. I know, yes I know, that it is a gift from God at such times, but one thing I've noticed is this, that such happens to me, only on some of those occasions when I am confident that I am in a state of grace. Oh how unhappy one is; not to have tasted this feeling..., with what nostalgia one looks back to it; when it's been long one felt it..., how eagerly one looks forward to the sacrament of reconciliation; when one hopes to get it..., how jealously one guards his heart from sin; when one does not want to lose the experience. It is indeed "wonderful for us to here"...in your presence.

On another hand, When last did you see a procession of Bishops, with or without the Pope? When last did you watch a documentary of the catholic church in lives of the saints, apparitions of our lady, miracles of the Eucharist, Canonization of a saint etc? Indeed when last did you participate in any thing Catholic and felt proud to have received the grace of membership, determined to guard this gift with your life. This is a call for us to free ourselves of unnecessary luggage, that "the morning star may rise in our hearts" 2Pet 1:19. It is indeed a nice feeling when one is able in his heart to echo the words of peter... " It is wonderful for us to be here".

Good morning dear brethren, a splendid day ahead to all.
Another good one from the theologian.

A reminder and encouragement.

Syncan: ...Happy the womb that bore you and the breasts you sucked!’ But he replied, ‘Still happier those who hear the word of God and keep it!’
Lk 11:27-28

Obedience is better than sacrifice..., better it said, it didn't remove the beauty of Sacrifice. "Happy the womb that bore you"... blessed is the one who sacrificed for your life, for your needs and overall well being... said the lady from the crowd. But He replied, "Still happier those who"....Yes she is blessed for her sacrifices, but she is even more blessed because she heard and gave the fiat. We, brethren, are blessed for being in the one true church instituted by Christ, in which is the whole of His truth, yet, We, my beloved brethren, are most blessed when we listen to his words as spoken by his church and let it bear fruits in our lives.

Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all.
May your E-ink never run dry smiley

Foreign Affairs › Re: The Israeli Army Is Suffering Some Of Its Most Severe Losses In Years by SalC: 1:17pm On Aug 02, 2014
We've been hearing the number of israeli soldiers and civilians killed. We also hear of the number of Gazans killed but can anyone tell us the number of Hamas fighters killed? How comes we don't hear that or does it mean israeli soldiers only kill civilians?

Meanwhile the military arm of Hamas said they don't know the whereabout of the said israeli soldier.

Christianity Etc › Re: The Bible Is A Catholic Book by SalC: 12:23pm On Aug 02, 2014
MOBJECTIVE: No, no it isn't. We (catholics) apparently understand that sentence VERY differently from how you seem to. I am deeply disturbed that it seems you actually believe the bible to be Jesus.
Where did Jesus ever teach this? Where did the apostles ever teach this? Can you say aloud while holding a bible ;"This bible in my hand is Jesus," and LISTEN to yourself. Can you pray to your bible? Talk about idolatory...
Now this is the ish here.
Can anyone who believe the first emboldened confidently Profess the second emboldened?

If yes, we won't be wrong to say "Jesus of the said person is a book, No?

If he can't profess the second, the first is probably wrong.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Bible Is A Catholic Book by SalC: 12:09pm On Aug 02, 2014
striktlymi: The above is in agreement with my position.
And it is not different from what am saying too. When we talk about the existence of Jesus, it is in two phases,

His Spiritual existence and his Physical existence.
His Spiritual existence Preceded the existence of the Jews while the Jewish existence was there before his physical existence. Infact Physically he existed as a jew so it isn't wrong to say he was a jew and that doesn't make him any less what he is.

I think that's clear enough
