Gombs: now, the bible didnt explicitly state how a name gets into the book of life, but tell us how a name gets out. Whosoever is born into this world gets his name into the book of life, and if one dies in or with sin, his name is blotted out. some folks thinkk the name is written the day u get born again, and removed if u sin, and when u ask for forgiveness, it is rewritten and the cycle continues. the name is written ONCE and taken OFF ONCE (if need be). A child in the womb is not yet born into the world, for it is still in its mum's body, hence has no nature of sin, and consequently, unblamable...

John 1
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Jesus is the light that lights anyone born into this world, no matter how long one lives, only this light sets him free from darkness.

now, how does aborting an unborn child equates murder? i asked him to give the biblical definition of murder
I find this submission quite disturbing because it raises a lot of question which was part of the initial question I asked, but in other not to derail this thread I will allow the presenters carry on with the purpose of this thread. Maybe when they are done, I will bring this up again or create another thread for this.
Thanks. Hope you are ok?

Omexonomy: How proper is it to assume mary is in heaven?
Right from the early times, we have always read even in the scriptures, of those who walked with God and neither saw death nor did we read of their body decaying

The scriptures recorded of Enoch,
He spent his life in fellowship with God and then he disappeared because God took him. Gen 5:24

We also read of God taking away the prophet Elijah in 2kings 2:11

This has been a way God took away a selected few who walked in union with him. If you study Rev 12, you will notice God took the women to a place prepared for her.

Hope this helps.

Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;  praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime;weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. Ps 30:4-5

Good morning brethren and do have a joy filled day ahead smiley

What is the significance of John living or preaching in the wilderness?

Prophet Isaiah foretold the forerunner of the messiah "as a voice crying in the wilderness" Isa 40:3

When John came, he made it clear: he was the voice of someone shouting in the wilderness. John 1:23

The scriptures also made it clear he preached in the desert of Judea. Matt 3:1-3

1)The question now is, why would John preach in the wilderness instead of doing so at the city gate or midst of people.

2)What is the significance of the food he eats in the wilderness . John 3:4

3)How can we as christians emulate John

Endeavour to participate in today's Eucharistic celebration as we pray and strive to be found worthy at the end of our earthly life to spend our eternity with Jesus, our blessed mother Mary and the host of Saints and Angels.
Christianity Etc › Happy Feast Of Assupmtion To All Catholics by SalC(op):
Celebrated every year on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven, before her body could begin to decay--a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time. Because it signifies the Blessed Virgin's passing into eternal life, it is the most important of all Marian feasts and a Holy Day of Obligation.

Quick Facts:

• Date: August 15.

• Type of Feast: Solemnity; Holy Day of Obligation.

.  Readings: Revelation 11:19a, 12:1-6a, 10ab; Psalm 45:10, 11, 12, 16; 1 Corinthians 15:20-27; Luke 1:39-56

• Prayers: The Hail Mary

• Other Names for the Feast: The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary; The Assumption of Mary Into Heaven; The Dormition of the Theotokos; The Falling Asleep of the Blessed Virgin Mary

History of the Assumption:

The Feast of the Assumption is a very old feast of the Church, celebrated universally by the sixth century. The feast was originally celebrated in the East, where it is known as the Feast of the Dormition, a word which means "the falling asleep." The earliest printed reference to the belief that Mary's body was assumed into Heaven dates from the fourth century, in a document entitled "The Falling Asleep of the Holy Mother of God." The document is written in the voice of the Apostle John, to whom Christ on the Cross had entrusted the care of His mother, and recounts the death, laying in the tomb, and assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Tradition variously places Mary's death at Jerusalem or at Ephesus, where John was living.

A Required Belief:

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life is a defined dogma of the Catholic Church. On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII, exercising papal infallibility, declared in Munificentissimus Deus that it is a dogma of the Church "that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory." As a dogma, the Assumption is a required belief of all Catholics; anyone who publicly dissents from the dogma, Pope Pius declared, "has fallen away completely from the divine and Catholic Faith."

While the Eastern Orthodox believe in the Dormition, they object to the papal definition of the dogma, seeing it as unnecessary, since belief in Mary's bodily assumption, tradition holds, goes back to apostolic times.

Pope Pius XII, in the text explaining his definition of the dogma of the Assumption, refers repeatedly to the Blessed Virgin's death before her Assumption, and the consistent tradition in both the East and the West holds that Mary did die before she was assumed into Heaven. However, since the definition of the Assumption is silent on this question, Catholics can legitimately believe that Mary did not die before the Assumption.

A quick question please before I drop the next question, which of these translations best conveys the massage in. Isa 40:3

Please note the emphasis...

The voice of one crying in the wilderness:“Prepare the way of the Lord;Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. Nkjv

A voice cries out, "prepare in the wilderness a road for the Lord, Clear the way in the desert for our God! GNB

The first seem to indicate the voice speaking is speaking in the wilderness, not that the road should be made in the wilderness while the second seems to be saying the road should be made in the wilderness.
NB.- NKJV, KJV, NIV, NRSV favours the first presentation.

Gombs: these said, let me ask you this, why term abortion as murder of an unborn child when in reality, a child's name is written in the book of life ONLY when he is born into this world? what is the biblical definition of murder?
Sorry mod I don't know if this constitutes derailing, but @Gombs how did you come about the bold? Is it biblical or you made it up?

@Yooguyz shed more light here, is there a bible verse that said a child's name is written in the book of life ONLY when he is born into this world?

If yes, what happens to he soul of a child who was miscarried at say 6months or that of a blue baby?
