The requirements is much
That's why I stated that "if they really need it". What I mean is that as a fish farmer or poultry farmer, I could decide to take any of the commercial bank's loan at "any Interest rate" knowing fully well that I have the market already to mop up my eggs and fishes but more importantly, the loan is for expansion activities and not to initiate or start a new farm. Perhaps, I needed to stock up the warehouse for feeding the birds or fishes when the price of the Soyabean, maize or wheat offal is cheap, and my birds are relatively young in lay.. they will be willing to loan me and I can pay back comfortably, the initial set up and stocking cost barrier has been broken.

Why not?? It must be option of last resort!

Short term financings ONLY.

Agric pays....access to fund is the major issue
but do you know a lot of people are loosing money this period in the name of venturing into agriculture? An enterprise into aquaculture or poultry can access funds via commercial banks IF THEY REALLY NEED IT, but not a cassava or maize or soybean farmers.

Yampotatocarrot:
Nice writeup, Sir.

My B.Sc project was on honey n I had to visit a honey farm to complete my work. Was my first time even knowing people reared bees, although the methods r crude.

Didn't see most of these equipments u r displaying, d man did everything using the traditional method.

He however lamented about honey retailers buying from him, then mixing t with other things to increase the quantity and sell to unsuspecting individuals. U ever come across such?
The goal is to take it to a higher levels. There exists a higher levels of possibilities with bee-keeping...Most especially with product sales (honey, wax, bee venom, bee colony, pollination services and also training services). I'm aware about the Local demand for bee products in Nigerians such that our local production cannot meet this growing demands and we have import from neighbouring countries. Its that bad. Yet, it is an untapped avenue for wealth creation.

Honey adulteration is a challenge. Determining the adulterated takes extra skills..Reason, I do not market honey sourced from unknown places.. However, we are working with few bee keeping cooperatives and bee-keeping groups across 3 states where we have supplied them bee-keeping kits and training services in the past and so we can keep tab on source, flavour and hygiene.

All the best friend..
