Nikkybeth: sam079 thanks for encouraging me to insist for the IRCC specifications of bank reference letter. I finally got it today from GTBank after so much hassle. The manager who happens to be my account officer was unwilling to get the letter done. For two weeks I was on him but he was still nonchalant. I had to involve the Head of Operations and complained bitterly yesterday. Brethren lo and behold I got the letter today. So please if your banking with Gt insist and follow up, they'll eventually give it to you. You're welcome |

sam079: @airsaylongcom, Thank you for being on this thread. please I want to confirm something. I have an investment of 1mm I started in August (I started online). The investment is 6 months and matures ending of January. I want to top up with additional 1mm, will the new investment also mature the same date of the existing investment (i.e in January)? Help from anyone? |

Nikkybeth: Wow. My branch bluntly refused saying the reference letter cannot be altered. I'm now confused. Should I go back and keep insisting or should I use the letters I have and explain it. This thing is supposed to be easy and straight forward but I guess some people like to make things difficult. Same bank with staff giving conflicting info as if they don't have the same training. I'm just tired. Who knows maybe they gave you what you requested be cause you're already abroad. Sorry I'm just venting Go back and insist. I got mine in the required format from the branch on Ademola Adetokunbo street in VI. |

Mamaroon: Ok.
A simple way to see how well your JD matches your NOC is to label the NOC from 1 to 10 and beside each item of your JD put the number that you think corrsponds. That way you can clearly see what matches or what is missing. Goodluck! Thanks! |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by sam079: 10:01am On Oct 20, 2020 |
Mamaroon: If you are using the NOC staring with 0 to claim work experience, the JD needs to show that you are in charge, that you're the boss....that you "plan, direct, organise control" the affairs of a unit, team or organisation.
I don't really see that from what you posted....but that's just a personal view. NOC is subjective subject! Okay. I was managing a team and I didn't find any other NOC to match the duties listed, that was the closest NOC. Thanks! |

Mamaroon: The job description looks "brief" for a managerial role, in my opinion. Keep in mind these key 5 words for managerial NOCs: Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate. Always in the lead statement and duties. Managerial job descriptions need to show clearly say you be oga. Thank you! If I'm only using this NOC to claim work experience points, can I get rejected for NOC mismatch? |

Travel › Re: Usa Visit Visa by sam079: 2:17am On Jul 29, 2014 |
auntyliz: Dear All,
Please I'm hoping to get some advice on my application for a US tourist (B2) visa. My interview is in about 3 weeks time. Unlike the UK & Shengen applications, the US one is very confusing. They don't tell you what to bring or do. Please I am very confused about the application. Help!
Anyway, I have been to the US twice as a child when my dad was working for an oil company. I'm talking about 1992 thereabouts. Since then, it's all been trips to the UK as that is where we have family. Have also been to France twice. I schooled in the UK between 2003 and 2010. Been home since 2010, did my NYSC service, finished in 2012. I have a 5 year UK visitor visa which expired in 2016. I also had a 2 year shengen visa which expired this year March. I started working permanently in an accounting firm in Dec 2013 & I earn around N100,000 a month with certain allowances which are paid every 3 months or so. Next allowance is in August just in time for it to reflect in my bank statement for the interview.
I am a 30 year old female. Single. My family friend who lives & works in the US as an engineer gave me an invitation letter stating I will stay in his house for my trip so I won't bear any accommodation cost. Also, I wrote that my mum is sponsoring my trip (which she is). She is paying for my ticket as well as giving me $1,000 for 10 days trip. Through work, I have saved an additional $1,000. So I will have $2,000 for the trip.
Now my confusion lies here: some people have said that I will be refused because I am 30 years old & I'm not totally sponsoring myself. I obviously don't earn enough to pay for both my expenses & plane ticket so my mum is supplementing the rest. She owns her own business & is able to do so without any problem. Will the fact that her 30 year old single daughter is depending on her look bad? I live with her & we both travelled to UK together in december 2013- a trip which she sponsored.
Also the fact that I am visiting & staying with a Nigerian (non-US citizen) male will be frowned upon since I am female going to stay with a male. I was told that the embassy will find it hard to believe that we are platonic friends. Apparantly, they will try to say that I am going to stay with my boyfriend in the US. I'm not sure why they will think this. I won't have time to explain the following during the interview: my family owns a house here in Lagos which we've been living in since 1994. We also own a property in London which this family friend has stayed in when he visited us in London twice. Which is why he is inviting me to US to stay with him free of charge. Also, my work will happily give me a letter to state my role & all but I hear that they hardly look at documents.
Please what are my chances of getting a US visa. Just to visit for 10 days which is my leave allowance. Please help. God bless They will still give you a visa. When you go for the interview, speak with a British accent to the person interviewing you. Because you lived in the U.K and you have travelled frequently they will not ask a lot of questions. I had my American visa interview two weeks ago and the interview stage literally took 20 seconds. I spoke with a British accent as I have lived in the U.K for seven years and I have been to the U.S once (eleven years ago). My visa was still approved (I wasn't asked for any documents). Your chances are very good. |
