Good day everyone. I want to use this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has contributed in this forum. Ve been a silent follower for sometime until now. I ve been making some research about doing MSc in United States and the responses and advice from this forum has really been helpful.
Here is my issue.... am a registered nurse in Nigeria seeking to do my MSc and also practice in the USA and a friend over there told me one of the best way was to come with a visiting visa and as soon as I crossed that the visa can be changed to student visa over there and then I can seek for an admission. I really don't know the possibility of that. I really will appreciate if great minds here can shed more light on this. Thanks.
.... .. She also said a friend would be doing his wedding wt a US citizen so d dude will be traveling with his grooms from Nigeria and he charged 1million to add me as one of his groom and then we go to embassy as a group so that the visa won't be refused I don't know if the price is a fair one or if I ve other option of getting a visiting visa would be cheaper. Thanks in anticipation.
Jesus Christ!!!!!!!! One million Naira? For visiting Visa? Please my brother don`t open your two eye and enter canal, this is Life scammer.
Chai, Chai, Chai. God dey oooooooooooooooo

Depends on how much they are paying you per hour and have it in mind that tax some shit still gonna be deduct from your pay check. Let say they pay you 10$ an hour and you worked 20 hours per week. Your check will prolly be between $140 and the 150,
Please my brother where is the remaining $60 or $50?

First, I'm going to warn you. Because of the 2m you mentioned, you are going to be receiving emails and 'offers' from scammers posing to be nairalanders for their 'services'. Be careful how you divulge your financial status on the internet, especially on this forum.

Second, 2m will not really take you that in terms of tuition alone here in the US. The cheapest US schools you can find will gulp close to 3m to 4m a year on tuition alone. Not including living expenses, miscellaneous and what have you.

Third, when you get into the US, don't think that your sufferings will 'end' and you'll suddenly start 'enjoying' life. You will be very surprised to find that life is very difficult here. I like being blunt and I say things the way they are. But the good thing is if you work hard you are sure of the gains and where it will lead you to. On average, it would take you close to 5 years before you can find your feet in this country.

For anyone who doesn't have a system going for them in Nigeria I can encourage you to come to the US. You will have an average life here. You will have a job, a house (on mortgage), a car (on loan), etc. You can change cars easily as you change okirika clothes, so far as you have a job that can afford the monthly payments. You can change phones anyhow and enjoy the latest phones as they are released. You will enjoy fast internet services and stream videos online easily. You'll have the life you never dreamed of having in Nigeria

However, for those who already have a system going for them in Nigeria - a good job, investments here and there, who want to resign from their jobs, sell their investments off all in the name of going to emelika, that would be the greatest folly of your life. With your status in Nigeria, you are way better off than your mates in the US who barely have investments and depend on that one job or as many as 3 jobs to survive, to be able to pay their house mortgage (lest the bank reposseses their house and they go homeless), pay their car loan (before it is repossessed), etc. and you can always visit the US and spend as many as 6 months if you want. Life in the US for many revolves around working, working and working. Taxation is very high. People barely have investments or savings in this country because they live from paycheck to paycheck.

The decision is left to you to make. At this point you have 2 decisions to choose from - either spend the next couple of years investing your inheritance into a profit venture in Nigeria that ensures returns every month, further invest your profits into other investments, expand your portfolio (there are good investment opportunities in Nigeria, which foreign investors are taking advantage of) or come to the US and spend the next 5 years working really hard to find your feet (going to school here because you really need a US degree to get a good job here + getting your residency) and living the rest of your life just like every other American - work, pay bills, work, pay bills, a revolving cycle. I'm just being blunt. America isn't the heaven that we think it is in Nigeria.
Nice one.....
Please my brother, as a student working 20 hours per week, how much is that 20 hours per week?

f1 student visa
There are, in essence, two types of 221(g) cases:
1. “administrative processing”, in which a clearance or approval is required from an interested agency or agencies
2. Post-related, in which the consular officer requires additional time, information, or documentation before making a final visa decision.
and also what color of paper the person gave to you?

I told my sponsor to get a a new SOA from the bank with their letter head but the bank insist that they don't usually issue their SOS with letter head. that the bank stamp and signature is enough. Please what do I do?
My brother you have nothing to worry about, once you certain the cash is inside the account. Sometimes Bank print with different papers.

Sam, can I do everything today and still get the result today?
My brother I don't think so, because they have scheduled time and day for each immunization and vaccines taker, some Tuesday & other Friday and the result is not instant. I think the best thing is to give ursf enough time, because Luth is the only place in Lagos you can get better result with small money for everything you need....... Or better still go to UCH ibadan, things snappy there, is where I done my own.
Best of luck my brother....................

No I haven't. The yet-to-be submitted DS-160 has the new passport number.

Then you have nothing to worry about! if you cannot change passport number on your first created appointment website, leave it and schedule another one, then proceed to book your interview date.......

@deetus.. what do you suggest I do?

I'm not sure what "Investment Papers" mean...
Please know that funds in such accounts should be fluid and ready to go. Fixed deposit accounts and the likes are not accepted except they'll mature before you hit the embassy.

Don't give them reason(s) to deny you, a savings or current account is more like it.

Here's wishing you God's favour!

savings or current account.....

VO says everything looks good after my interview but when he saw my bank statement he changed his mind. Pls I need assistance,is it the funding?
