Buying land in Nigeria especially in Lagos can be a very difficult decision to make. But in this post I will highlight the 10 things you must check that will help you to make better decision. Over the years, I have come to really understand that before buying Land that there are some things you need to carefully consider. The most frequent question people do ask is: What Title does the Land have? I know a man who bought land from the owners all papers was complete and he went ahead to build and moved into it, only for him to receive a letter from the Government saying he should vacate the house as his house has been marked for demolition. He couldn’t believe his ears, according to the letter he was building what is not allowed in that area. The government had already marked that area as an industrial area. So building a residential home was not accepted. So most times it is not always about the land documents alone that you need to check before buying land there are a lot more and that is what I will be revealing to you in this article. Do follow me to the end and don’t forget to share this post as you do not know who needs this article… 1. Location. Location is the number one thing to consider when buying land in Nigeria. This is the foundation to other things you need to check. The location will determine what value the land will be in the future because a land in a developed area will cost more than a land in developing area. Another reason to consider location when buying land, is that you need to consider if the location of the land is fast attracting development. No one will like to buy land that the location is slow in developing. My advice when trying to consider location: Thank you for your time. We will continue some other time. Fuji star, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has reacted to the suspension of a Redeemed Church Pastor, Toyin Ogundipe who was said to have paid him to perform at a crusade slated to hold in one of the parishes in Lagos Island. The Fuji star declared that, although, the church’s management paid for the show, it is never done to expect him to pay back the “artiste fee” saying, “the fault is not ours, we were ready to perform for them until we learnt of the cancelation of the crusade”. City People reports that, the Pastor in charge of Province 20 of the Redeemed Church had invited Pasuma to perform at the Church’s forthcoming crusade titled, “Lagos Island Family Areas Forum” between Friday, October 23rd- Sunday 25th, 2015. Pasuma’s picture appeared on the handbill advert and posters alongside gospel singer, Tope Alabi and a former band leader of the late Fela Anikulapo’s Egypt 80 band, Kereke Jike. The decision to stop the programme was because the church headquarters felt the Pastor had gone too far by inviting a secular artiste such as Pasuma to its church programme. A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the organisers did not do a detailed consultation before going ahead with the programme. He also said that it was as a result of it that the programme was cancelled and the Pastor in charge of the church along with the organising committee suspended as they now await further sanction from the provisional headquarters for dragging the name of the church in the mud. investigations by City People reveal that The Redeemed Christian Church of God clearly frowns at the use of secular musicians, a development which has been clearly stated in its handbook to Pastors. OBJ forgot that it was him who recommended Okonjo-Iweala to Jonathan The continuous bashing of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, continues with Olusegun Obasanjo joining the fray in his interview with Premium Times. What is shocking is not whether the former minister is innocent or not; the issue is the inaccuracies contained in the latest attacks on her and other actors by the ex president. Okonjo-Iweala may have her weaknesses, as all the humans are bound to have, but it is wrong to write off her extensive positive contributions to this nation, both under Obasanjo and Jonathan. Under Obasanjo Iweala was no doubt a great minister who spearheaded Nigeria’s debt relief and plus with minus, she also did well in the last administration. At least Nigerians know that the oil sector was not under her care. What is more annoying is the failure of the former president to say the truth about how Iweala joined Jonathan’s cabinet after the 2011 polls. The fact known to many insiders is that Chief Obasanjo indeed recommended Iweala to Jonathan. His proposal then was that Ngozi possessed the credential to revive some of the reforms which he (Obasanjo) put in place, but which were dismantled by late president Umaru Yar’Adua. Jonathan accepted the nomination and on the strength of the former president’s recommendation, Iweala was given prominent roles to play. Chief Obasanjo should have opened up further to tell Nigerians at what point he parted ways with his goddaughter. Those in the know will tell you that the refusal of Iweala to rise against former president Jonathan was responsible for the rift. Chief Obasanjo had expected all his godsons and goddaughters to support him in his attacks on GEJ. Iweala refused and that is what caused the disagreement between her and Baba. The misinterpretations by the ex president are simply stunning The inaccuracies in the interview are not just about the ex minister; the case of Chief Emeka Offor is another point in question needing correction. Most Nigerians are aware that the “controversial” Turn Around Maintenance of Port Harcourt refinery was awarded to the Chrome Consortium put together with some Romanian companies before the Obasanjo presidency. At the conclusion of the project, certificates of completion representing different components of the turnaround maintenance were issued. The certificates were dated between July 25, 1999, and October 31, 2000, and duly endorsed by the NNPC directors responsible for the project, as well as the representatives of Shell. All these certificates were duly issued during Baba’s presidency. And they are also in public domain. How can the former leader now turned round to accuse Chrome of not doing a job for which certificates of completion was duly issued by his government? Is it also not unfair to now attempt to hold Chrome responsible for the state of the Port Harcourt refinery for a job completed as early as the year 2000? So is the father of the nation indicting himself, or merely playing his usual game of twisting the facts? It is ridiculous that the former leader also said he could not do anything to Offor because he has police and people around him. How can a president claimed incapacity to touch a citizen because he has police and people? The fact is the president was aware that Offor’s firm has done the job he was given to do and so could not have been harassed in any way. Why did Obasanjo say things like that? Those who know the former leader very well are quick to say that the purpose of the interview was to seek attention. Chief Obasanjo like to be in the spotlight all the time. And it does not matter at whose expense or whose name he falsely drag into the mud to stir controversy. Whatever anybody may say about Iweala, she has made her mark as a finance minister that introduced far-reaching reforms in Nigeria’s public life. Even after office, her reform initiatives stand firmly as is evident in the single treasury account, integrated payroll systems, GDP rebasing, sovereign wealth fund, among others. For those who enjoyed this sadistic conduct of destroying notable national figures, we pray the Otta farmer will not soon turn his gun against the new president, Muhammadu Buhari, who is widely acclaimed to be the man of integrity. For the reading public, may be it is time we choose what to read and what to believe. Source: https://www.naij.com/511947-really-going-obasanjo-okonjo-iweala.html |

Selling Will not add anything to the economy because the buyer will mopolize it. I wonder when politicians will stop thinking of now and their pocket alone but that of future |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has castigated his successor in office, late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua for reversing the sale of the Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries to a Dangote-led consortium by his administration. The late president made the cancellation of the privatization of the moribund refineries one of the first things he did immediately he took over power from Obasanjo. In the second part of an interview he granted Channels TV on Wednesday, Obasanjo, who is speaking publicly on the issue for the first time, accused Yar’Adua of bowing to pressure by some unnamed persons by canceling the said contract. The ex-president, while justifying some of the claims he made in his controversial three-volume autobiography, My Watch, spoke about his efforts to get people to invest in the oil sector and how the country eventually secured buyers for two of its four refineries. He said, “Eventually Aliko Dangote led a group that paid $750m for the privatisation of two of the refineries – 51 per cent privatisation – and my successor (Yar’Adua) came (in), he turned it down. In fact, he paid back the money because they (investors) had paid the money. “And I went to him; I said ‘look, do you know…? And he said well, he did it because of pressure. I said ‘pressure?’, so to you what matters is pressure, not what is in the best interest of Nigerians. I said, but you know it will not work. Then I said in 10 years, if you continue, you would have spent two times the amount that these people had paid and it still would not work. And that is what happened. “Today those two refineries, you can never make them work. And if we are going to sell them, we would be lucky to get $250m out of them because they have become a huge scrap. Now, why shouldn’t I explain that (in my book)?” Source: http://www.gistlinkz.com/2015/07/what-yaradua-told-me-when-i-confronted_31.html?m=1 |

Tribunal: My life in serious danger, Ezugwu cries out ABUJA — The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, candidate for Enugu North senatorial district in the recently concluded general elections, Chief Willy Ezugwu, has raised alarm over threats to his life. Ezugwu said that apart from being trailed by some unknown persons, and had been bombarded by several calls by some persons who had asked him to either withdraw his petition at the courts or be killed. Ezugwu is at the Enugu Tribunal challenging the propriety or otherwise of the emergence of Barr. Chuka Utazi as the senator-elect of the zone. The APGA candidate came second according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Ezugwu is contending to be declared the senator-elect, positing that at the time of election, Chuka Utazi was not the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and hence he (Ezugwu) should be declared winner. Ezugwu, who also serves as secretary general of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, stated that the current threat to his life was in connection with his quest to retrieve his stolen mandate, noting that this would be the second time he would be raising alarm over threat to his life. “During the campaigns, I had cause to petition the Inspector General of Police over threats to my life. I want to put it on record again that my life is under threat, following warnings that I withdrew my petition from the Tribunal where I am challenging the emergence of Barr. Chuka Utazi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the senator-elect of Enugu -North. “No amount of intimidation would deter me from pursuing to a logical conclusion my petition at the Tribunal as I am a firm believer in the rule of law. “Those sending threat messages to me and trailing my movements should know that power belongs to God and only Him is the giver of life. “I and the good people of Enugu North will definitely see that judgement is done and no amount of intimidation would hinder this,” Ezugwu stated.
