Actually students protested and the VC banned the SUG. For two sessions now no SUG. Although they were planning to reinstate the SUG before this ASUU strike.
But no one can deny that the VC didn't work.

It was still the same country that snake swallowed money that my school is taking a new shape. I don't mind if my VC dey chop money but as long as I'm seeing progress no problem.

Some were even saying the VC would have upgraded the school before increasing the school fees. But where would he see the money to upgrade the school in the first place?

I would not mind doubling my effort to pay an increased school fees and sit in an AC classroom.
But e dey pain me say I nor go enjoy all these things before I graduate.

We gats sacrifice something for something. We gats sacrifice increased school fees to end ASUU strike.
Well...

Zero or minimal insecurities thereby making people to go farm And produce enough for the country

Meaningful infrastrutures thereby they ain't using Money that is supposed to be channeled to a project, repairing some of the infrastructures getting bombed by terrorists

Constant electricity thereby making people to open shops, manufacturing plants not depending on fueling them which will make the cost of their products go higher

My school increased my school fees. And even though my faculty isn't completed I still pay the high school fees. But I can see work ongoing. This ongoing work started when school fees increased.

I may never receive lectures from the completed classrooms that will be fitted with ACs before I graduate but I cannot deny that I saw what the VC did with the increased school fees.
I might not enjoy it but the next set will.
Well this is nice.
BUT.can this be implemented by the federal government?
Isn't this same country where snake swallowed money and nothing was done?

People stealing money through loopholes yet nothing was done.

This country has many problems including the people. Ur VC is good, other VC's will steal the money and even ban SUG from protesting or they scrap them

Local refineries will reduced importation and We will be able save more dollars

Most of the dollars Nigeria realize from sale of crude oil are use to import refined oils thereby creating dollar scarcity.

Even the little we are exporting, if we are able to stop fuel importation, the economy will grow to some level
Well, you're right here.

See removing subsidy without proper things and measures in place is just rubbish

We don't like solving problems entirely from the root Buh solving it from the middle.

How can I be paying as high as #500, #600 per litre with bad economy?

Where do you want people to make money? Or nah sand them go use am buy am?

Refineries is just one out of many problems

We're not exporting enough

No electricity (hope you know it kills business) I know how much I dey use buy fuel and e dey pain me

Lack of Security, farmers are unable to go farm

And too much of importation

Bad roads

These are what makes economy worse.

Like it or not, Nigeria will remain a consumption country in those subsidies remain. Nobody can make Nigeria a production without increasing taxes, duties or removing subsidies and (or) collecting billions of dollars worth of loans. If those things are not done, any cut on unnecessary costs and spending is nothing but a waste of time.

And the sad truth is that many Obidients doesn't even know this fact.
Peter Obi will be able to do nothing if he doesn't take loans or increase taxes and duties (thereby causing prices of things to rise and increasing our debts portfolio).
If he likes, let him budget only one car for his convoy and one meal a day as a president and wear only one shoe and watch for his complete 8 years in power, he will be able to do nada as a President if subsidies remains.
ASUU will keep going on strike and our refineries will never be able to function.

Sha I'm glad that Buhari is just waiting for Dangote's Refinery to be completed before he completely remove fuel subsidy next year. Those that wants to die should die and the country will move on after them.

If paradventure, Peter Obi becomes President he should reduce fuel back to N65 naira and watch Dangote refinery becomes moribund just like our 3 NNPC refineries.

As for ASUU strike, Students should pick between no strike again and a conducive learning environment but paying as high as 100k for federal universities or pay 10k school fees and ASUU striking 6 months, twice a year and students lapping each other in their lecture theatres.
Actually, Nigerians are not annoyed and won't be annoyed if subsidy is removed, if they're Paying more tax.

What usually pained us and why we always get annoyed is not seeing the positive impact of what we are paying.

How can I be paying thousands of money as tax, yet someone in Abuja is stealing it without seeing the impact of my tax like regular electricity, functioning roads, security etx

Do you think I will continue to pay the tax?

Ok since you admitted their 1 trillion demand is impossible let's move on. Now how much will salary increase cost and how do you plan on funding that alone? You're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up.
Salary increase cost won't take much, even if it takes much. Govt can fund it.

It's because measures are not in place to generate revenue (esp through agriculture, mineral resources) that's why it looks like we're broke.

And they should reduce unnecessary cost esp In some agemcies.

That's waste of funds

Ok sir I'll give you the same challenge I gave to the other gentleman. Tell us how you plan on funding 1 trillion naira needed. You're allowed any mix of borrowing, cuts, tax increases or tuition increases as long it adds up to 1 trillion naira. Its easy to be emotional about the situation but were talking about naira and kobo. I also didn't say you have to completely remove subsides. I said students have to take more of the burden and have increased market competition.
Firstly, they can't see 1 trillion collect

Secondly before adding tax or increasing the tuition fees.
These should be in place
a. Better economy
b. Steady electricity
c. Security
d. A fully exporting country.

Without all these funding 1 trillion or whatever for university is useless
And increasing tax or tutition fees is useless.
Just like pouring water into the basket.

The solution I think currently is that, FG should just increase their salaries.

In the words of Thomas Sowell there s no solutions only tradeoffs. What you're witnessing the fundamental issue economic grapples with how people deal with scares resource. If you want poor to go to school so badly make sure there's market competition for universities, be prepared to pay taxes or privately fund these students through scholarships, grants. The poor will have to work a part time job or take loans while in school. University may not be for everyone and that's a tradeoff people must accept.

The universities do need to charge for their services competing with state and private universities. As said before you can still pay your subsides. The students have to be their primary customer not the tax payers.
But Removing subsidy on Education, Fuel. Things will become unbearable.

Until we become fully an export country and our naira is really strong.

I think the subsidy should remain as it is.

Students can't be paying 300k for federal university un top this bad economy and few.jobs
