Phones / How To Download And Install The Google Play Store by Sammy4fresh: 3:18pm On Jan 18, 2018 |
How to download and install the Google Play Store The Google Play Store is a treasure trove of apps and content. It’s sometimes necessary to install the Play Store manually if you unintentionally uninstalled it or want to roll back to a previous version to avoid bugs. Here’s how to download and install Google Play Store, so you can try the new features before the rest of the crowd. There’s no need to worry, though. It’s relatively easy to manually download and install google play store on any supported Android device. The method outlined below can also be used by users who have the Play store already installed and are looking to manually update to the latest version. Here’s how to download and install Google Play Store on Android smartphones Step 1: Check your current version This first step is for those who have google play store already installed on their Android smartphones. The first thing you’ll want to do is see which version you have to make sure you’re downloading Google Play Store’s latest version. This can be done as follows: Open your Google Play Store app. Open the settings. At the bottom you’ll see build number. That’s your current version. At the time of this writing. The latest version is Play Store 8.0.23. Keep in mind before attempting to update that you are sure your version of Android is compatible with the latest store version, though this shouldn’t really be a problem unless you are rocking a super ancient version of Android like Gingerbread — if that’s the case, time to replace your phone! Step 2: Download Google Play Store via an APK It’s a pretty self-explanatory step. The Google Play Store comes in APK format like any other Android app. Here are some tips for this step: Only download Google Play Store APKs from trusted sources. I like to use APKMirror.com, which is from the people behind the blog Android Police. Moderators for the site check every app to ensure that it’s safe to use. On APKMirror, search for and download the latest version of the Google Play store (as of January 18 that is version 8.7.10) You can download it on your device or your computer. Make sure you transfer the APK to your device to somewhere you’ll remember if you downloaded it on your computer. Step 3: Enable Unknown Sources in the settings Head to Settings, click Security, scroll down to Unknown Sources and toggle the switch to the on position. You will get a message warning you about the dangers of installing apps outside of Google Play. Don’t take this lightly. You should be cautious when sideloading an application and only do so from a trusted site. You should never attempt to pirate a paid app. Not only is this illegal, but it could also lead to malware being installed on your device. Step 4: Install the Google Play Store Now that we’re all set to go it’s time to install this thing. The downloaded file will appear in the notifications pull-down menu at the top of your phone and in the Download folder in the app drawer. Click on the file in either location and install it. Pull-down the notification menu or open your file browser and navigate to wherever you downloaded the Google Play Store APK. If you downloaded it on your device then it will be on your SD card in the Downloads folder. Once you find the APK, click on it. There may be a box that pops up depending on the apps you have installed on your device asking which app you want to use. If this is the case, click “Package Installer”. On the next screen, read over any permission changes (there usually aren’t any) and then click install. When it’s finished, the latest Google Play Store will be installed on your device. download and install the Google Play Store Step 5: Disable Unknown Sources Leaving the Unknown Sources box checked is a major security hole that can cause problems down the road. The best way to keep yourself safe is to go back and turn that off! Go back into your device settings. Go back into the Security settings, Privacy settings, or Application settings (wherever you found it last time). Uncheck the box. This will prevent everything (except the Play Store) from installing apps. You can always re-check the box later if you need to do this again. You now know how to download and install Google Play Store. This method will work on almost any Android device, but there may be slight variances depending on your Android version and OEM. Do keep in mind that this will not work on Amazon Kindle Fire devices.
