Hello Nairalanders, I need your opinion on this.

There I was on my bed inside my small dungeon hostel whilst the ears piercing mega phone of a neighbourhood church (one of the mega church around) when I heard the district pastor feeding the church with what I call deception and heresy. I have listened to several messages on forgiveness, repentance and total turning away from sins; but never for once have I in my theological and escathological knowledge of the scriptures seen undoubtful truth about eternal security. Brethren, is it true that, "once saved always saved" or can we lose our salvation through disobedience or unbelief?

My take: Eternal security is a false gospel and counterfeit grace message, which is built upon partial truths and Scripture removed from its context. Many are in hell now because of the once saved always saved doctrine.

what's your own opinion? Should a true Christian believe in such doctrines, or sway it aside as heresy?

Ok, I was waiting for all that and you are quite on point but i don't think we should ever attack a person's salvation. You are simply not God. I don't agree with a lot of their doctrines too but it doesn't give me the right to say "I'm sure he is headed for hell".

Btw, no man can preach a perfect doctrine. That is no excuse for preaching heresy of course but what it means is "know God yourself and have your own set of personal doctrines".

you are very right my brother, but all thesame we are to be known for preachhing the whole truth leaving no stones unturned. Most times when I see fellow Christians rushing to church on Sunday, I see them heading and running on the path of eternal destruction and damnation. We need to let them know, nothing but the whole truth. If we do not let them know, then who else will? is it the unbeliever or the so called atheist?

where in the holy scriptures do you see that divorce is christianly, masturbation, smoking (your body is the temple of Christ) and the likes. Do you want more proofs from their so called doctrines too proof how gullible and feeble minded these so called christians are?

Often times we wonder when we pray, and it seems the answers are not manifesting. Take for example, you find yourself in such a situation that the last thing you did was to go down on your knee to pray to the almighty God. Despite your fervency in the place of prayer all you got back was a blank paper. You continue to wonder and reason using your human comprehension and seeking inwardly where you’ve gone wrong, for you yourself you know what the scripture says “if I regard iniquity in my heart the lord will not hear me” such was your believe. You kept yourself holy righteous and consecrated unto the Lord, yet what you got back was disappointment. So, you made a mind conclusion never to pray to that invisible but doing visible things again. You lost hope, you gave up on faith, and thus you blaspheme.

Now, let me take you aback. When you first accepted Christ as your personal saviour and lord, and at the cross you laid it all down, you cried, confessed, and carried the mantel of salvation, you repented and made up your mind that nothing will separate you from the Love of Christ. Oh! What a glorious day, you sang praises to His name and you became solemn. You were like the little Christ.

So, wonderful was the experience that at the mention of the name of Christ, enemies bow before you, devil flees, strong holds were pulled down and you became an over comer. At the slightest prayers you got instantaneous answers. Alas! You were so joyous that you have forgotten that you relented. You rested and thought you’ve reached the comfort zone. Have you forgotten that the devil is going up and down looking for whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:? So, you slept. Have you also forgotten that the devil came while men slept, to plant that little plant that later germinated into a big tree today?

Wake up Christian, you’ve slept too much; pull on the whole armour of God! Resist the devil and his cohorts, rebuke him. Remember you need to guard your soul jelously whilst fighting the battle of life, less you lose your souls to the devil. Remember that whatsoever tree that my father in heaven has not planted shall be uprooted. Proclaim decree, overtake and conquer. If and only if you will come to the realization that you’ve let down your guards and you’ve let in the devil and enemies places in your life.

Prayer the key, the master key I would say. You have it. Whoever told you that you can’t make it, whoever told you that you wont be successful? Whoever told you that you will be stagnant? Whoever told you that you wont possess your possession? Tell them that it is not God who said that! Reply with- God said I will make it, God said I wiil move forward, God said I wont ever be stranded or jobless, God said I am His and nothing shall by any means hurt me.

I have had the opportunity of watching clips of campaigns and debates involving some Americans vying for political offices, they often have the oratorical skills.

Here in Nigeria upto the early 1980's, Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, S. L. Akintola, Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Anthony Enahoro, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, and so on were able to convince their admirers with their oratorical skills.

In today's Nigeria, do we still have politicians with oratorical skills? I find Rochas Okorocha, Femi Fani-Kayode, Babatunde Fashola, Tunde Bakare, Peter Odili, Femi Gbajabiamila and Rauf Aregbesola (though very blunt) as some of the few we have. Add yours.

When I look into churches today all I could see is a loss of Christian souls. Oh! What depradations, what extortions on account of the scandals by which the spiritual head of Christendom is surrounded. Those that were ought to be found in the way of the lord are now the ones involving in scandals.

Alas! What we have now is spurious and prideful holiness. The only objective and mission of our so called Christian leaders is money, money and money, in so much that those who should preach the truth, utter nothing but falsehoods, and are not only tolerated but rewarded, because the greater the lies the greater their gain. It is from this foul spring that such tainted and duty water flows. Scandal caused by the clergies hurls so many poor souls into eternal condemnation. We need a great reformation.

Oh! What about the widespread in declecision and degradation of faith and piety, different preachers with several scandalous methods to suit their selfish and greedy motives, all in the name of Christ. Preachers are now becoming more sophisticated heavy and materialistic instead of reaching out to the dying future of the nation. You see them accumulating wealth, buying private jets and the likes. Wonders! Wonders! They say shall never cease to occur, you now see our so called humble and respected religious leaders now having multiples and retinue of bodyguards and security men. Do you not know, what you are professing? You are acclaiming that God is no more willing and able to protect you. You see pastors, reverends and Bishops even shepherds shouting "touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm".....

What about salvation? Have you forgotten the divine precept of Christ's coming to the world the first time is salvation. Tell people about salvation. Resolve to renew your salvation.

As for me, I'm resolved to do what is right without troubling myself about my current challenges. I desire to confess the lord. For Christ is my priest, His blood is my sacrifice and His altar my confessional.
