If you don't believe in Nigeria, then whatever investment you and your folks have in Nigeria should be sold early as not to forfeit them.

"Yinka Odumakin, Iyiola Omisore, Olu Falae etc. are miserable election losers. They are yet to come to terms with this crushing defeat.
Look at Chief Olu Falae telling the whole world that there would have been civil war if the kidnappers had killed him.
MKO Abiola, Bola Ige, Kudirat Abiola, Elegbede, Suliat, Rewane, Omotosho, Onagoruwa, all died in the days of locust and Yoruba did not go to war.
Ndi ala, ndi nzuzu. When they fail in national politics they go back to play ethnic politics and they resort to blackmail, primordial sentiments, ethnic preoccupation, intimidation, harassment and subterfuge.
Oro pe si je!!
Look at them. Look on their faces and see the mark of defeat.
Ask Yinka Odumakin who is driving about with Goodluck Jonathan's Prado jeeps, the pounds and dollars he was distributing all over the Southwest that came to nothing. They did not know when the train left the station.
In the East the same miserable losers are shouting for Biafra.
Biafra my foot!
Did these efulefus see or witness the civil war?
I was booed in an Igbo church in Lagos when I told them Buhari has won the election. I told them that 11 states cannot defeat 25 states. I told them that two zones cannot defeat four zones but Goodluck Jonathan's dollars and pounds looted from our national treasury beclouded their sense of reasoning. Now these shameless losers are shouting for Biafra.
Other leaders from other zones in Nigeria wisely strategize for position but shameless Igbo leaders in Ohaneze, aka Ikenga, Ndigbo Lagos, and Igbo traders strategize for money.
Look here, I am very angry with my Igbo leaders. They have no shame. Did they not see the hand writing on the wall? They should all leave Buhari alone to fix Nigeria. They all joined hands with PDP and looted to the bare bones with Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience Jonathan," Says Joe Igbokwe.

This is a time piece for all Nigerian youth to wake up to the call
Politics / The Curious Case Of The Young Generation By Femi Pedro by samobaba(m): 8:32am On Oct 18, 2015
I saw this piece online and feel indebted to share with the Nigeria youth. It is time to wake up to the call.

Sometime in 1988, I received a call from a good friend about an interesting investment opportunity with a few colleagues. After a series of meetings, it became very clear to me that we were about to embark on an audacious but incredibly special journey, and I was excited about the prospect of being a part of such a project. For almost 2 years, I worked alongside the likes of Akin Akintoye, Fola Adeola, Tayo Aderinokun (of blessed memory), Gbolly Osibodu, Bode Agusto and a few others on this investment project. As of 1988 when we began the journey, Fola was 34, Tayo was 33, Gbolly was 33, Bode was 33, Akin was 35 and I was 33. The objective: To own a BANK.

It was a bold objective considering our respective ages at the time, but certainly not an impossible task in our eyes. So we began to hold countless meetings at Fola’s residence in 1988, until we eventually shifted base to Tayo’s First Marina Trust office in Victoria Island. By late 1989, we were ready to put in our bank application at CBN, along with the required minimum capital. This effort was spearheaded by Fola and Tayo (the two brains behind the entire operation), and supported by about 40 persons (including myself), most of whom were in their early 30s and working for different organizations at the time.

The end product? We formed arguably one of the finest financial institutions Nigeria has ever seen- Guaranty Trust Bank (known as GT Bank today). The bank was licensed on the 1st of August,1990 and we commenced banking operations later that year. A group of young boys in their early/mid 30s OWNED a bank! We simply dreamt big, and turned this dream into reality.

I am taking the liberty to reflect on this chapter of my personal history against the backdrop of some of the criticism about the ages of some of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees. The argument being brandished about is that by nominating the likes of Chief Audu Ogbeh and Alhaji Ibrahim

Usman Jubril as ministers, our President is somehow blocking the destinies of younger Nigerians by preventing them from occupying such positions. People are quick to reference Yakubu Gowon and Murtala Mohammed as being relatively young when they ascended to power, and they argue that the same opportunities that young people had in the past are no longer available today. They also argue that around the same time we were forming GT Bank in the late eighties, there were also a number successful young entrepreneurs who distinguished themselves as well – Bola Tinubu (Treasurer at Mobil Oil), Gbade Ojora (ED Mobil Oil), Jim Ovia (Zenith Bank), Erastus Akingbola (Intercontinental), Dele Momodu (Publishing), Tony Elumelu (Standard Trust), Liyel Imoke (Politics), O’tega Emerhor (Standard Alliance Insurance), Aig Imoukhuede and Herbert Wigwe (Access) and Atedo Peterside (IBTC) are some of the noteworthy youngsters who made an impact in various fields in Nigeria at the time.

Perhaps, at play is the venting of some on-going frustrations by the younger generation today, but it is important to put things into proper perspective. Since pre-independence, the Nigerian youth have played a pivotal role in nation-building and economic development. The vast majority of the founding fathers that led the struggle for our independence were relatively young. Chief Obafemi Awolowo was 37, Akintola was 36, Ahmadu Bello was 36, Balewa was 34 and Enahoro was 27 when they led the struggle for independence after the death of Sir Herbert Macaulay.

Only Nnamdi Azikiwe was over 40 (he was about 42 at the time). Indeed, even the post-independence military hierarchy was fueled by the active participation of young persons in nation-building at critical periods of our nation’s history. The first coup in 1966 was led by a 29 year-old Nzeogwu and countered by the likes of T.Y. Danjuma, Shehu Musa Yar’adua and a few others, all in their 20s.

The subsequent coup brought a 32 year-old Yakubu Gowon into power. Many of the military administrators who governed the states under successive military governments (including our current president, Muhammadu Buhari) were in their 30s. Similarly, the major beneficiaries of Nigerian indigenization policies in the early 70s were young private sector entrepreneurs. The likes of Subomi Balogun, Oladele Olasore, Sam Asabia blazed the trails in banking at relatively young ages, while super civil servants such as Allison Ayida,

Phillips Asiodu, Ahmed Joda, Ime Ebong, Ibrahim Damcida etc held forth in public administration in their early 30s. This trend of young people playing active roles in nation building and economic activities continued well into my own generation in the 1980s and 90s, so it is not difficult to understand how we were able to muster the courage and determination to forming a bank at the time.

I have spent a lot of time mentoring, observing and interacting with young Nigerians. Today’s youth are no different from those of my generation about 30 years ago. They are faced with the same pressures, frustrations, uncertainties and life vicissitudes that we faced in our late twenties and early thirties. However, the marked difference is how young Nigerians apply themselves today. Most of us who made an impact in our early thirties came from modest means. We were not rich, and we did not have any noteworthy inheritance.

Nobody did us any favours, and the older generation did not give us a pass or a nudge in the right direction. In fact, the military administrations at the time made it extremely difficult for us to participate optimally in business, governance and politics. We did not have social media, and there was no technology to aide our goals. We were simply big dreamers determined to make a difference. We were highly enlightened and career-oriented, so we were able to force our way through the door by working extremely hard.

What some of the proponents of the argument against the older ministerial nominees, (and perhaps the older generation currently dominating the political and economic landscape) also fail to realize or remember is that even in my early thirties, we also had very established and older industrialists like MKO Abiola, Sam Asabia, Gamaliel Onosode etc, who all operated during our time. We respected them, but neither felt overwhelmed by their success, nor daunted by the prospects of climbing up the ladder. We simply forged ahead with our plans and damned the consequences. The point is nobody cleared the way for us back then, so young Nigerians today should not expect that anyone would clear the way for them either.

So what exactly needs to change amongst young Nigerians today? First, young Nigerians have to humble themselves. You have to be willing to learn the ropes and hone your craft. Around the age of 27, I left the relative comfort of a steady career at CBN to learn under the tutelage of Otunba Subomi Balogun, the visionary and pioneer behind FCMB. Working as Otunba Subomi Balogun’s executive assistant was an experience of a lifetime. He was (and still is) a well-organized and thorough individual. He strongly promoted excellence and perfection, and did not condone indolence, laziness or poor quality work.

He was also an impeccable dresser, always elegantly attired in all-white traditional wear or perfectly tailored quality suits. I picked up these virtues and adopted his style of leadership and management in my future endeavors. I was opportune to travel with him to attend corporate and other board meetings. I gained valuable and practical experiences in corporate board management and boardroom politics, which became useful tools later in my career.

Secondly, you must know your worth. Do not settle for less, and do not allow yourselves to be used by selfish political interests. Challenge the status-quo. Challenge the establishment. The youth make up a sizeable portion of the Nigerian populace. By extension, they have the loudest voices and the biggest potential. Alan Moore, a prominent British author opined that “People shouldn’t be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people”. This is especially true with regards to young Nigerians. You are more powerful than you give yourselves credit for. Our current president was victorious in large part due to the votes cast by young Nigerians, and you must continue to remind yourselves of this fact, because 2019 is already fast approaching.

Thirdly, and crucially, young Nigerians have to eliminate distractions. Do not get carried away by the allure of good living, bling, fame and fortune. Stay on the straight-and-narrow path. Distractions are the proverbial pot-holes; they slow you down from reaching your destination and damage your wheels in the process. By all accounts, social media is obviously the biggest distraction. It is a powerful tool, but can also derail you from focusing on the bigger picture. The most discerning amongst you will know how to navigate social media without hindering your ability to make significant inroads in the economic and political fabric of Nigeria. I have been impressed with what the likes of Linda Ikeji, Bellanaija, Don Jazzy, TY Bello, Jimi Mohammed, Banke Meshida-Lawal and other young Nigerians have been able to accomplish at such a young age, and it should serve as an inspiration toother young Nigerians in various fields as well.

Finally, take advantage of opportunities, no matter how small or inconsequential they may be at the time. Expect no helping hands. And when these opportunities present themselves, grab what you can. During our cabinet meetings, my boss and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu always quipped that “Power is never served a-la-carte”. This is indeed true in the context of where young Nigerians currently are, and where they need to be.

Our nation is at a critical crossroads. The age bracket between 18-35 years constitutes the majority of our working population group, and naturally, they should be the most productive and active segment of our country’s economic activity and nation-building efforts. Unfortunately, the youth of today are indolent, unemployed and generally incapacitated. Some are unable to make ends meet, and have not shown any sustained interest in holding leadership position. They abstain from holding governance positions at the local, state and national levels. Ironically and confusingly, they allow themselves to be used as street (and very recently, internet/online) thugs, miscreants and protesters to pursue the selfish agendas of older politicians.

Despite all of this, I have a lot of faith in the youth of today, but young Nigerians need to start having faith in themselves as well. You need to wake up from your slumber, and pilot the much-needed change process urgently. You must be willing to side-step all the pit-fall distractions and refocus your collective mindsets. You have to be guided by a desire to excel, and you must continue to push yourselves to grow in a tough, competitive and cut-throat environment that still exists today. Who knows? With a bit of conviction, commitment and guile, you may be able to produce a young, vibrant and dynamic Nigerian as our President much sooner than you think!

Politics / OAU Students Stone Jonathan, Ekiti Obas, And Fayose Out Of Ife by samobaba(m): 10:23pm On Mar 25, 2015
In what seems a wild reaction to the polity ailed with hopelessness and frustration, the students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Friday took their anger to the Oduduw a Hall of the university where they unleashed a dose of despondency on President Goodluck Jonathan.

A group calling themselves Concerned Yoruba Leaders, within PDP in the South West, had planned a one-day conference to drum support for President Jonathan’s second term. Venue was the Oduduwa Hall.

As the President arrived for the programme, the students, who had planned very well to unleash their anger against Jonathan, had laid siege to the premises of the hall. As he alighted from his vehicle, hail of stones greeted the President.

The authorities of the school calmed down the restive students temporarily to “cool their temper” until Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State arrived the campus followed by two 52-seater Ashok Leyland school buses loaded with Ekiti Obas.

Fayose was so confident that the students would receive him with open hands. But as he arrived the campus with a horde of his boys in another bus shouting “oshoko oshoko”, the enraged students of Ife in large numbers rushed towards his entourage and dealt a vicious assault on them.

He was lucky to run for his life, as his security aides shielded and ferried him to the hall. But the Obas, some of whom had already disembarked from the buses, were not so lucky, as the students descended on them. lnstantly, one of the buses made a detour and immediately took some of the Obas out of Ile-Ife, but Oba Adamo Babalola of Itaji Ekiti and Alara of Aramoko Ekiti were not lucky, as the vehicle with which they came drove off in a high speed, leaving the duo behind.

One of the Obas quickly removed his beads and gave his horse tail to his security guard to disguise his identity, and Dipo Anisulowo came to the rescue of one of the Obas, as he helped to carry his crown inside a nylon bag back to Ekiti State. Eventually, one of the stranded Obas was later seen in the town by the road side trying to catch Ado Ekiti-bound bus.

However, the students that had earlier mellowed down, regrouped and waited for the President for Part 2 of anti-Jonathan drama. Within minutes, the students had taken over the long stretch of road leading to the town from their campus., and the programme was abruptly brought to a close as Jonathan and his handlers hurried into waiting helicopters that ferried Jonathan, Fayose and other leaders and supporters out of the campus amid shouts of “ole ole ole”

OAU Ile-Ife students today displayed what they are noted for: to humiliate corrupt and inept leaders who are making life uncomfortable for them and who care less about what future holds for young Nigerians.

Great Ife !!! http://ngdailynews.com/2015/03/22/oau-students-stone-jonathan-ekiti-obas-and-governor-fayose-chased-them-out-of-lle-ife/

Politics / We Really Don Know Buhari. 70 -90 Generation by samobaba(m): 9:03am On Feb 24, 2015
We don’t really know Buhari – Speaking for My Generation and a Few Others. (Coup and Restriction of Press) By: DEOLU AKINYEMI

Yes, many in my generation where less than 10yrs old when Buhari was Head of State. Many who were old enough to know him, also got to know him not directly, but from the journals of bitter journalists, and from sentiments peddled from neighbour to neighbour. While my father was alive and very educated when Buhari was head of state, he honestly can’t claim to know as much as I do today because not being there to learn form hearsay, I have taken on the task of reading divergent views about Buhari to come with my perspective! I expect those who will learn about me to see me beyond what my enemies say about me, but what they collated from different articles and opinions shared about me. It is against that backdrop that I present you my findings about The man Buhari, his many faces, sins and achievements.

It’s tough to summarize Buhari in one article, it’s taken me about a decade, or learning from a distance, and being one person away to get a good glimpse of the people’s general. I travelled along a few years back and watched him address his followers in different states of Nigeria. I was awed by the honor and respect that greeted him. I was touched by the folklore that trailed him even by 4 year olds whose mothers were probably not born when he was head of state, but who chant “Sai Baba” (Salute our father), and “Sai MaiGaskiya” (Salute the Honest one) with contagious passion! Oh don’t get it wrong, Buhari is not without his faults, but take it from my eye witness report – there is no Nigerian alive or dead, that commands the following, admiration and love as Buhari among common folk. His followership is priceless in cash, and by the people who will normally expect cash to offer it. I know what it feels like to be in the crowd, to hear the chants of “Changi Dole!” (Change by force) and to understand the deep philosophy behind “Gaskiya Dokin Karfe” (Truth is a metal horse, irresistible)

Buhari’s regime as Head of State meant business, and did not have the tact of a smiling yet lethal gap tooth General – Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, in courting the press and media. The created enemies of writers, created enemies of corrupt politicians, enemies of military boys benefiting from wholesale corruption, and has been bedeviled by these enemies ever since. These enemies have worn many masks over the personality of Buhari, making a product that has been hard to sell. When it’s God’s time however, what has been packaged wrongly can be repackaged and packaged right.

Let me start this discussion with two key points and extend it to about 15 key areas in time. I will tell about his strengths and his weaknesses, but everyone of them makes him a by far better candidate than the good one we have currently.

1. Buhari the Coup Plotter. Buhari did not organize a coup. Nigeria was in a state of despair and hopelessness. Politicians were robbing the nation blind and territorial integrity was being breached along the current North East, as we were losing ground to fundamentalist groups, much in the shape of what is going on today. The military boys under a “patriotic zeal” sacked the current government and adjudged themselves unqualified for the work of tackling corruption and rescuing Nigeria like Jerry Rawlings of Ghana just did. They decided to seek for a leader among them, whose records were “clean” and whose values were glaring. Buhari benefited from a coup that he did not lead, he was however patriotic enough to want to ensure that Nigeria began a process that led it to true nationhood. That regime was quickly terminated by the same people who placed him there, as they believed his methodology was quite strict, and did not allow for “chop I chop”. Buhari has since come to realize that if Russia could transform without a gunshot fired, Nigeria had a hope in democratic governance and has subjected himself to the same in seeking an office to serve Nigerians. It’s clear that his values don’t long for our money, that alone is a good start for me.

2. Decree 4 and Press Freedom
Admittedly, Decree 4 seemed to negate some principles of press freedom. Again, it must be stated that the Buhari regime was a military regime. Military regimes are not known to guarantee press freedom as well as democracies. Those jailed under decree 4 included two journalists reporting for a major Newspaper. The newspaper was fined N50,000. Its offence was that it published before the official time the list of Nigeria’s ambassadorial postings. This was invariably a breach of state security. Governments all over the world seek to preserve information that is essential for state security. Even the United States, the chief advocate of press freedom is seeking to arrest the founder of Wikileaks for publishing state secrets. Despite this, the Buhari regime should be applauded because it never closed down or proscribed any newspaper or magazine. Other military regimes, particularly the Obasanjo and Babangida regimes seized and proscribed newspapers and magazines with impunity.

To be continued… and yes He’s too old to be a CEO. I prefer to see him as Nigeria needing a chairman on it’s board. WE can then enrol a team of egg heads and best from the North and the South to run the different units that make up our great nation. This is an arrow head team whose time is around the corner.

(2) What did u tell me was ur reason for not going after Boko haram insurgents even when I told u this will boomerang? (3) What happened to the Nigeria's external reserve and sovereign wealth fund? (4) Did u give licence to Niger Delta Militants (Dokubo and Toompolo) to import arms in the name of their privately owned companies? If so, for what reason? (5) Did you not get correspondence from the United States consulate that a certain citizen named Buruji Kashamu is indicted for Drug trafficking? Dear Patriots,

Today we have decided to change the fortune of our dear country and purposely create hope for our generations unborn.
A number of us may not know about the days we use to export cocoa, the days of groundnut pyramid, the rubber in Old Bendel state, the days farmers/traders leave their goods in public and buyers take what they need and leave the money in the trays , the days $2 exchanged for N1 , the days young graduates were given Beetle, Citroen or Datsun 120Y cars which comes with an automatic job ! This ''animals in human skin'' according to Fela Anikulapo have basterdized our socio-economic lives.
This campaign therefore is to re-awaken us that our dear Nigeria has a lot more resources than the collection of the G7 countries of this world (SAD.. isn't it? )BUT our leaders both past and present have squandered and still squandering our collective wealth.
Now divinity has created another opportunity to make an change and we concerned patrots have decided to throw our weight and queue behind a man that had been president and has only one house, former PTF chairman without a petrol station, a disciplined Officer that brought sanity to our everyday lives (WAI), a Muslim that freely dines with Christains, a reserved gentleman that loves Nigeria.
We are casting our votes for General Mohamodu Buhari and his running mate Prof (Pastor) Osinbajo.
Please make Monday 22nd December a date.
