Nigeria Projected Among Top 20 Economies In The World By 2050 - Brexit, coronavirus, and trade tiffs may be making economic headwinds, but despite immediate challenges, the world economy is projected to keep growing at a rapid pace over the next few decades. In fact, by 2050, the global market is projected to double its current size, even as the UN forecasts the world’s population will only grow by a modest 26%. Though it can be challenging to predict exactly how the future will unfold, most economists agree on one thing: today’s developing markets will be tomorrow’s economic superpowers. According to The World in 2050 report by international professional services firm PwC, in 30 years, six of the seven of the world’s largest economies will be today’s emerging economies, surpassing the US (dropping from 2nd to 3rd), Japan (dropping from 4th to 8th) and Germany (dropping from 5th to 9th). Even relatively smaller economies like Vietnam, the Philippines and Nigeria will see huge leaps in their respective rankings over the next three decades, according to the report. We spoke to residents living in five countries with hyper-growth potential to find out how they’re navigating the rapid changes already occurring, what benefits come with living in these places and the challenges they face as their countries climb the rankings. Nigeria One of Africa’s largest economies, Nigeria is poised to grow by leaps and bounds by 2050, at an average of 4.2% year-on-year, rising eight places from 22nd to 14thin the rankings. While the government has struggled with corruption, residents have an entrepreneurial attitude that keeps pushing the country forward. According to Global Entrepreneurship Monitor data, more than 30% of Nigerian residents are new entrepreneurs or the owner-manager of a new business, among the highest rate in the world. “There is a ‘hustle and bustle’ culture in the air,” said Nigerian native Colette Otusheso, CEO of Accelerate TV, who lives in Lagos. “Nigerians are hard workers and it almost comes naturally for us to be working on several things at once, which means there is always something going on.” Even the country’s challenges, like minimal public transportation, have segued into business opportunities. “We now have an app very similar to Uber for okadas (motorbike transport), which is the most used form of transport in Nigeria but in the past has not been very reliable,” said Otusheso. “Now we can track okada drivers and locations just as you do for transport and deliveries with Uber.” Residents mostly feel positive about the county’s future but are wary of government corruption and foreign investment. “We need to be careful what country we take money from, who we allow to help us improve our infrastructure and what strings are attached to it,” said Nigerian native Chizoba Anyaoha, Founder of TravSolo, noting their history of other nations taking advantage of their natural resources and raw materials. Newcomers should settle in Lagos or Abuja, both big cities with good schools and great nightlife and food. Just like any big city, street smarts are key. “The best way to acclimate here is to know someone currently living here you trust,” said Anyaoha. “It is quite easy to identify expats, making them easy targets. Keep a low profile, take precautions, always be aware of your surroundings and the people in it.” http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20200322-five-superpowers-ruling-the-world-in-2050 |
XhosaNostra:That is because they are everywhere.... And to answer your last question....drug peddling, arm robbery E.t.c |
TayserMahrii:Once an idiot, always an idiot..I am.not surprise.. |
XhosaNostra:Who carried the survey, a of in SA.... So now you've changed to nuisance...any to see your riff Raff a I just need to take a trip to our prison....you want to see more then go check the wards of other countries prison.... And yes SA travel to other African countries to perpetuate crime most I'm the southern part of the continent like Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia,e.t.c So much for acting a saint.. |
IronGalaxy:It ain't your birthday bitch, ain't here to throw surprise party... |
XhosaNostra:One word for it, you're ret@rded....you were born autistic can't you see it... |
Lol an SAns with tell you they have over 2,000 malls and they are ranked 8 globally... Lol I can't just help but laugh at how hard they chase global relevance despite being in purgatory of stagnation and third world shiithole-ness...you can choose to build 50 cubicle size mall and one mall on the streets of Singapore, London,Tokyo will make up your entire 50 cubicle sized malls.... You can only brag about the numbers, all thanks to your taste in tiny spaces... ![]() |
IronGalaxy:Don't ask me stupid question...you are a nobody...I am pretty sure you are one of those Soweto thugs with sagging worn out jeans and dying flip-flops ...and to perfect the ugly look you include your cheap famous, Umbrella looking black hat which serve as a medium of your thuggish identification. .....is that the kind of idiot that wants to refute a reputable body....who knows you if not your fellow thug and the police man waiting to throw you in jail for peddling cheap drugs on the streets of Soweto... |
SA is too freaking, fvcking stagnant..it is as of they've used up their lucky charm and shinning glory.... Even Mandela knew this and that was urged nigerian leaders to be better and even stated that the mantle of leadership is in our hands.... Despite SA infastructure there is this sharp contrast in infastructure when you visit developed countries cities like Tokyo, Dubai, Singapore, Chicago, new York, Toronto..... I am saying this because SAns are always trying to act like they have global dominance in everything both in infastructure.....you see them boldly trying rub shoulders with the developed world.....but in the end they are nothing but a third world shiithole..... |
XhosaNostra:Stop being an idiot, you don't stay in your shiithole..you move ...they are SAns... You guys are used to living in an alternate universe with stupid evenly spread lies.... |
XhosaNostra:Weasel, that is my phone auto-correcting...and I don't bother cross checking it cos I know I am talking to an uneducated gutter trash, coupled with the fact that this is an informal platform..I don't get why I need to be so formal and serious... |
XhosaNostra:No it is not. SA is a third world shiithole like the rest of the continent despite the infastructures which to me is a shame... countries that have your kind of infastructure have long dusted their palms and bolted off to first world or at least second world, not slightly surpassing the rest of Africa shiithole (despite the lacK of infastructures) with tiny margins.... Back to your unemployment, very few third world shiithole has that alarming kind of unemployment despite not wearing the confusing tag of "industrialized economy".....it just shows you how underperforming you guys are despite the infastructure and also gives us a clearer view on your inequality..hence being the most unequal shiithole in the world.... You are either rich or very poor..forget the middle class, it almost doesn't exist. |
XhosaNostra:Didn't tell tell you I want to see pics of your ex president weasel.. |
