Since then see the mess the north has put Nigeria in. But do I blame the British for Nigeria's predicament? Capital "No".

See, the only problem is that Africans lack unity and purpose. We create barriers in our own paths to progress. Our minds are not truly developed. There are levels of human consciousness and Africans have refused to go beyond the religious/spiritual level.
Take Kenzoo, your country for example- are these world powers you refer to responsible for the crass corruption of the rapacious Kenyatta family or the stupidity of Kenyans in keeping the wrong people in power? If after many years of independence, Africa is still being controlled by invisible hands, then we deserve the names they call us.

Why does the thread even matter. Anyways my main issue is not even about us reaching the levels of those advanced nations.

My big issue is why our governments can't provide just the basic stuff for the people. Why should Africans be starving in continent full of fertile lands. Why is there no water in our taps despite there being water reserves and huge water bodies in almost every country. We might not reach Americas or Chinas level but let us at least try to make the lives of our people better.

The problem with us is that we always have this discussions every time but when its election season its a whole different story.

Finally, crude oil rebounds to ~$50. Samorobo, remember when we predicted it would rise back before 2020 runs out following the crash around April?
There would be some boost for the Nigerian economy definitely. But, the country must and should have learnt a lesson from it all. Oil alone can never make a country as big as Nigeria rich. We've lost our chance with oil wealth which has been largely wasted and stolen over the years.
It is time for Nigeria to divest from oil completely and invest more on infrastructure which can boost production and export of goods. Textile, electronic and electrical goods, etc. By all means we have to start now. It's late already but we can still salvage the situation.
