First of all I know 2 people who got d employment my nephew and a friend. Non of them got it tru "connection". It was simply by meeting the criteria and passing the CBT. Quick advice, go get urself some GMAT past questions and/or SHL questions , study dem, get used to them and u must pass ur next abtitude. That's how some of u we're saying that pushcv.com were failing you for not paying 1k for CV. Anextin: my Cousin got his totally on merit and Gods divine favor. hes been going through a rough time and needed a break. i went on my knees in the Alter of God and cried for his sake. Then this immigration stuff started. among all my siblings, cousins and myself i applied for only his name was shortlisted. i knew God was about to change someones life. the said boy doesn't even have a phone, reaching him became a task, but a way always manifest albert at the almost die minute. At the last stage, i didn't leave Nairaland, i opened my ears to anything that could be helpful like having all your credentials including JSS, making sure hes clean shaved and the rest. I DID NOT CONTACT, PAY, LOBBY OR BEG ANYONE. Lo and behold, his name was shortlisted, i cried that faithful morning when i opened his mail. since then i have not ceased praising God.
I dont have a worthy job myself, but i am so happy this boy is employed, it gladdens my heart knowing that God picked him up. that is the work of God my dear. but right now the currupt officials are busy collecting money and are planning to released another names soon. bcs some ppl got it without connection does not stop us from exposing the wickedness of the top government officials of this nation. we are happy fr ur bros but God wil judge the so called Presidential committee for shortlisting the same name more dan 3 times in the appointment list. |

truth remains that, they picked a few without connections to make the exercise looks credible. an immigration officer was telling me today that the senior officers have already shortlisted their candidates even before the CBT. can u imagine for u to be sent a congratulatory mail, and later send a regret mail that u r not successful again? surely ur slot has been sold out.
Nigeria is a very terrible country ams it is nt just in NIS. when last did u hear in Nigeria that custom service or road safety corps conduct massive recruitment? the slots are there but you have to buy it, and the most painful tin is dt even d presidency and the national Assembly knows what is happening in the Nigeria custom and their likes but they tend to turn face. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Nigeria Immigration Service 2015 Recruitment Invitation For Aptitude Test by samplanner(m): 6:38pm On May 17, 2015 |
phetty: Good day to y'all... For the past one week, I've been enjoying the reactions and counter-reactions here from different people. But in my own opinion, I'd like to make some comments on the just concluded NIS recruitment.
From my experience in different recruitment processes I've partaken in, I could say this process wasn't properly organised. A recruitment exercise often has 3 stages: application, aptitude test, and interview stages.
To make transition from the application to the aptitude test stage, it greatly depends on LUCK. Candidates are often RANDOMLY SELECTED from the application pool to partake in the test. In this transition, largest number of candidates is normally dropped.
Your progress from the test stage to the interview stage should depend SOLELY on your SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE in the test. This transition also see larger number of candidates being dropped based on the set cut-off mark. This is where NIS has got it wrong. Their cut off mark was too low; hence, much candidates were shortlisted for interview. Out of 43k candidates who did the test, around 34k were invited for interview. This is damn ridiculous!
Another flaw I saw in the process was the interview stage. Interview is designed to ascertain the personality of potential employee and decide if they fit into the system of the company/organisation. The truth is NIS didn't interview us, they only verified our documents. Normally for a candidate to succeed in interview, he/she must have put up a SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE. Hence, you could then conclude the selection was based on MERIT.
So, the NIS process was poorly designed. To those that were finally selected, I say a BIG CONGRATULATION to y'all. Believe me or not, you were not selected on MERIT, but on LUCK.
And to those that weren't selected, you were just UNLUCKY. Don't think you're not employable; your name wasn't just amongst the LUCKY RANDOMLY PICKED names. the same thing some of us are saying here, to many that have gotten appointment without connections it is God's favor and not on merit bcs there was nothing like interview in this exercise. a guy was successful without uploading even his medical cert and pri cert. God's favor really works and we are happy for them. but that did nt make the exercise free and fair bcs we are 10 from same L.G.A that participated in the interview that we were ask only where we schooled and date of births but non of us were employed. life is all abt luck and I bliv evry1 has his or her own share of bad luck in life. life goes on. |

lionphil: The mere fact that you guys didn't get it doesn't mean there aren't people that did on merit...one of u is claiming that no one got it on merit, sorry for you...that means all those that claimed to have gotten it on merit are liars? Haba, you even said they will go to church and claim they got it on merit when they didn't, has your level of reasoning and morality gone this bad and low? Some years back I applied for NDLEA and FRSC...unfortunately for me, their exams were written on the same day...that was when I actually vowed never to apply for a federal job if I didn't have a contact...During the FRSC training, my ears were filled with how so many people claimed they knew one person or the other, there I was with no one...I felt like a foolish person. These irregularities will never change(fact, deal with it) even when a new administration enters...can Buhari's eyes be everywhere at once?? Buhari can not wipe out corruption if he can't start from the people that backed his entering like the Tinubu's and IBBs and Atiku's...just move on and seek contacts, I sought and I found, u can as well if u really want to get there...
NB: God factor not ruled out but we all know those chances are slim.
You guys should just move one you were lucky to be shortlisted many of those who applied with money last year were not. Best of luck! bros you have said it all but that should not stop ppl from questioning this recruitment, ppl like u are the ones who won't initiate real change in Nigeria. bcs u got it or ur frn is successful doesn't mean that others shld keep quiet and move on. that is the reason why this country will continue to stay in bondage. for ur info I am working with a bank now and I earn more than what compass 8 will earn in a month bt bcs of security that's y I applied for the job and had it been I dnt hav the requirements I wouldn't have started. my main concern were with my frnds whom I know that deserve it bit bcs of naija factor they weren't successful. and we have to lay it out that the NIS are busy collecting money from several individual and given them appointment that is meant for those who suffer through the normal procedures. those that have gotten on merit or God's favour should give thanks to God. if you must know last two years I reached to the most final stage of the Nigerian navy recruitment only for our names to be called out during the parade that they have trim down some names to make room for other changes. this is how currupt this nation can be. therefore do not just come here and say what you want to say jst bcs u r one of those who are successful. |

Adenirandorothy: I agree with with you, infact no one would want to own up to the fact that they use leg to get the appointment, they would all be saying"I don't know a soul in NIS" infact, they would go to church to do testimony, that they don't know anyone, and you know deep down how you got your appointment. How can you explain how only about 50 was picked from about 700 candidates, how qualified could the people selected could have been? Dem get Doctorate degree ni? Merit my foot. That's the system we found ourselves. Congrats to you if you found your name on the list and if you don't move on,better opportunities ahead. my dear I tire for this country. the truth is that some ppl have no one but still make the final list. this is bcs God's favor is with them, plus the so called presidential committee deliberately randomly select few ppl to add to their already selected candidates. to my surprised even dragnet are clueless by selecting more than 700 for the final stage so that there will be too much room for connections. weda u like it or not it is so painful to see that you are competent for the job and have possesd all the requirements but at the end if name isn't on d list. to me ppl shld stop calling GEJ currupt, as evry Nigerian with office power is currupt. we are happy for those employed but that will not stop us frm questioning the credibility of this exercise. |

captainuc: Hello ladies and gentlemen, personally, i choose to read people's comments rather than commenting, i derived joy from it, though some are irritating, but all the same it's fun. Even as much as i felicitates with the shortlisted candidates over their victory of being employed into NIS. I must categorically say the process was not fair, transparent, and logical. The lucky shortlisted candidates, you guys may not know any person in NIS, and you were picked out of thousand. Oh, just praise your star! But let the truth be told, let's just be sincere to ourselves. There was no due process in that recruitment exercise, and am not saying this because i was not shortlisted for the appointment, off cause mine is coming, but out of what i saw.
You don't say this is the most transparent recruitment process that happened in Nigeria because you were picked. Honestly speaking, i know more than ten people, including two of my friends that went for the interview, but non of them was shortlisted for appointment. In fact, it was only on this platform that i got to know that some people were luckily picked based on merit, if not, i will forever say that the 2000 shortlisted candidates are all JOMBITOS.
Do you know that prior to the released list of shortlisted candidates, a lot of abnormalities happened with NIS site, our names were reshuffled, you can not view names base on state of origin, there was huge increment of names for interview as against the initial numbers that were invited for interview. This alone is enough reason why you should know that the process was tainted. So, guys mek una forget dat tin, na NAIJA we dey. They only picked few candidates based on merit just to cover up their mess, but God dey sha... God pass dem all! bro u have said the truth, only few were selected on God's favor. there is nothing on merit here. where I knw that the whole thing is a mess was wen dragnet decided to shortlist about 700 candidates each per state for the fin stage. there is nothing credible here. among this 700 not more than 50 were picked from each state and about 650 candidates were left hrtbroken. had it been dragnet shortlisted reasonable number of ppl fr d interview no one would complain abt d final appointment list. the interview itself was a scam bcs they already have thier desired list to send to abuja. l knw five ppl dt got employed without even filling application form online. Nigeria is a very terrible country. all dsame happy training fr d successful ones. |

first of all I'll like to congratulate all that have been given provisional appointments into NIS, whether u got it on merit( very rare In Nigeria anyway) or u got it bcs u have paid for it or u have high connections. all the same, God made it that way and u shld be grateful to him. what I want to say here its an observation I have made from the beginning of the process, and you may say its a free and fair exercise- yes I agreed it was Free and fair but not credible to me.
my strongest reason was during the final stage of the recruitment process, they call it interview but I see it as just a mere naija factor to pretend that the process is credible.
1. is it a credible interview where u were asked about your date of birth only? or u were asked about where u schooled? and then tell you to go.
2 have you wondered why dragnet didn't conduct the interview themselves?
3. I know of a frnd who wasn't shortlisted even for the CBT talk more of the interview but he's preparing for camp now bcs he is successful in the final list.
4. me and my frnd have am excellent grade from d university in geography and we met all the criteria but weren't successful. and the worse is no one in our L.G.A was given appointment. where is the federal character tin?
there are lots of points I can give to discredit this recruitment but our media houses are just like our greedy politicians who only communicate wat favours them. finally I'll like to say I've gotten a good job just yesterday glory be to God. and I'm also in pains bcs I know of many that deserve this NIS appointment bt were overlooked bcs they have no one. Nigeria will change only if the change starts from the least position in government offices to d presidency. happy training to all successful ones. |

u guys are all getting it wrong here- we are more than 24000 who participated for the interview and d truth is a lot will be disappointed when d final list is out. but whatever happens if som1 isnt employed here, let's accept it in good hrt and God will favor him or her in anoda way. my opinion is dt dragnet have made a mistake for shortlisting too many applicants for that interview. had it been they shortlisted reasonable number considering the fact that NIS wil employ not more than 4500 I think its understandable. but how on earth wil u shortlist 24000 ppl and employ only 4500? it is only in Nigeria dt government officials are making it difficult for the unemployed. I'm sure dt some will hurt deeply from dis recruitment. bcs some guys r jst waiting to see their names among d final list despite not participatn in any of d exercise. I knw like 4guys who have paid money already. another thing is the federal character thing. this time around its gonna be based on federal character thing and it all depends on ur L.G.A. the good thing is 80% of those will be employed will surely come from those who underwent all processes. may God help us. |

Emmysteve: The last may not have been heard of the controversial recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Immigration Service, as the House of Representatives’ Committee on Federal Character moves to halt the recruitment. This came on the heels of a meeting between the House of Representatives panel and Comptroller General of Immigration, which ended in deadlock last week at the National Assembly. The bone of contention was the inability of the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, and his team to convince the committee on how the service intends to ensure that salaries of the newly recruited personnel would be paid, given the state of the economy and the fact that there is no budgetary provision for it. Also miffed by the inability of the Immigration Service, headed by its comptroller general to convince the parliamentarians in concrete terms how the service intends to offset the over N6 billion cumulative fee of the N1,000 collected by the service from applicants during the aborted exercise as well as not first seeking approval of the Federal Character Committee of the parliament, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Idris Ahmed, ordered the immigration comptroller to return with answers to all the issues raised today (Monday). Committee members expressed dissatisfaction over what they regarded as “impunity of the highest order and insincerity” on the part of the federal government, for going ahead with the exercise without budgetary provisions and clearance from the Federal Character Committee. The chairman was particularly unhappy that the Immigration Service and the Ministry of Interior could not refund the N6 billion realized from the sale of forms to jobless Nigerians, yet it is going ahead with the exercise without following the due process. “Things must be done in a transparent and fair manner,” the chairman said. The committee chairman, after due consultations with members, ordered the immigration comptroller to come back today (Monday) and convince the committee why the exercise should not be put on hold rubbish, these are the same house who filled out all the slots for their candidates. they should as well ask Nigerian army, air force, navy not to collect 2.5k for their recruitments. they should also raised questions about how custom and FRSC do their recruitments. hypocrites that's all they are. Nigeria will hardly change bcs the rich always oppress the poor. |
