True, this section is dead. I remeber Edlyne records made a decision to sign Dagrin after noticing the buzz around him online through Tosin's post back in 2009 (https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-226917.0.html).

Then they started listening to the street buzz. Guys you dont know what this site does to up coming artists. The good ones anyway! Bring back the constructive criticism.

Also, the site owner(s) needs to change things, the internet world is a dynamic world. They need to change the way things operate on here. You cant keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

Isnt it funny how some record labels change artists lifes in Nigeria, Edlyne came into LKTs life and it changed instantly. All TV stations in niaja na this video dem dey play now. Ride on LKT,

Only time and Edlyne records can tell if it is a good or bad move. It is basically who can sell more records and secure more shows. I think LKT's current songs follow follow feat p square and money sweet will take him palces compared to Dj Zeez Jazz me, pounozor and ogbologbo.

On Wednesday the 16th of March, Nigeria's foremost fujipop artist Olalekan Tunde popularly known as LKT signed a recording contract with Edlyne Records. LKT hit the limelight by featuring in Olu Maintain’s monster hit Yahoozee and has remained in the limelight since by collaborating with many artists.

Edlyne records on the other hand has a good track record of bringing artist to their dreams. Edlyne records have made artists such as DJ Zeez and the Late Dagrin superstars in a short period of time. They are known for their well thought out plans of getting artist to stardom. According to LKT, he needed the right push to progressively move his career forward and he found the whole qualities in Edlyne records.

LKT and Edlyne records have also decided to bless their fans with another single titled “Money Sweet” from the forthcoming album. The date of the album is not yet set but Edlyne promises that it would be one of the best album in 2011.

Dagrins new album might drop this year (God permitting on his birthday in Oct). Nothing is cast in stone yet but solid preparations are been made by his management outfit Edlyne records and his family (representing Missofunyin ent). Dagrin had a few titles in mind before he passed on, including invincible bulletproof. But one would be chosen according to the list he had.

What you know about dagrin is different from what SATTY records know about him, and what satty records know is different from what Edlyne knows. What edlyne knows is different from what SOSSICK,DJ ZEEZ, OLAMUS, YARDMAN, TUSTEP etc knows.

They have spoken to his parents, i am yet to get a confirmation from any of his close pal. And a film that would reflect a life should have a comprehensive research done, thus the film should not be done in a hurry.

I will give you an example: A a point in grins life, he was called to come for a collabo with an unknown artist, he went with a friend (a known artist which everyone knows). On getting there they didnt know it was a set up and a gun was pulled on them. Dont you think that was part of his struggle? Wont that little piece make a good part of the film? If they dont speak to that friend how would his fans get to know exactly what he went through on his rise to fame.

There is no way his management outfit should not be involved as they were very instrumental/pivotal towards his rise to stardom. Or wont they show how he died? He was with his Manager that very day and they had some interesting conversation that his fans would love to know about. He had appointments with the British and American embassies. He went to shows, did some things back stage, in hotels and the only people that can fill them in on this is those close to him at those points.

I have said enough. I wish Mr Ope Banwo all the best. He has film experience dealing with the likes of Funke Akindele, but he should also bear in mind that this is a Hip Hop film as Grin lived his life "Hip Hoppy".

Anything i write on grin is nothing but FACTS. They are yet to speak to those that matter and by the look of things they would start shooting soon.

Lets be all honest,

The whole thing is about making money for all this guys coming out to pretend as if they cared about the guy and family. Hiding under the pretence, "some of the proceeds will go to his family and bring up upcoming artist". Dagrin is already an inspiration to upcoming artist. i cannot count the number of upcoming artist that wants to rap like he did now and some trying to calve a nich for themselve like he did.

Lets come off it, before he died, a few people believed in him. He went to alot of people for help but he was turned down, now they all acting up like they know him. Alot of this guys dont even know Dagrin. I am suprised that a lot of things are happening on his name and they have failed to recognise one of the architect of his career, SOSSICK. The guy believed in green when nobody did. He locked himself and grin up in a studio for a year to come up with the CEO album. But the guy gets no respect and gets no invitation to grins dedicated outings instead the so called "doing it for his family" are been invited.

After he died, a record label he signed with 6 years ago came out to release his recorded tracks. How could that be down, why did he not release it when he was alive. Is he saying the contract is still valid after 6 years when he has actually signed with 2 different record labels and a management outfit? When did he tell the records labels to buy him out if he truely had a contract? He also used the famous excuse "some of the royalties will go to his family".

Pon Pon Pon had been out for about 1 year before it got famous that to the video Edlyne records shot for him that made the song cement its place in charts.

I dont have any problem with Mr Ope Banwo, infact i commend his efforts. The family would only make a few change from this, there are other things that can be dont to imortalize the boy that would fetch the family life long money.

I hope you guys dont fail with this initiative. Cos you are not speaking to the right people as regards Dagrin. Good his parents are one of the best people to speak to, but there are a few guys that knew almost better than his parents. Reason: Dagrin left home at a very young age and did not get in touch with his parents until a few months before his death.

He only speaks to him mum and does not to his dad. He relied on friends a lot such as Sossick, Yardman,Olamus, Gini and his Edlyne manager. They know alot about his musical career which should be the focus for the movie. There is a lot to focus on around his musical career, it would be a real failure of a movie if you guys should focus on his parental unbringing as there isnt much to raise from there.

If this is to really immotalise Dagrin the movie has to be of international standard not just a local Nollywood film. If people watch it and dont have an imprint of it in their minds then it will immotalise nothing, that is one of the reasons why i think it is too early to come out with a movie as regards dagrin. It is barely 3 months he died.

I am not sure you have spoken to the real stakeholders in his musical careers (his mum and dad played a part but i doubt they have enough info on his musical career to make a movie).

Dont blame them, coporate and private shows are drying up in Nigeria, all artiste are going back to the traditional album sales for a living.

In my opinion i think the both of them messed up. In the first place 9ice should have come out to grant an interview to clear rugged's name since he knew it was affecting his career.

And on the other hand, Rugged should not have recorded 9ice conversation and posted it online without his conscent. He only got away with it because we dont have an effective law system in nigeria. In the advanced world he would he would be cleaning his bank account now to pay a hefty compensation.

Thank you, you are well informed. A lot of all these so called artiste cannot afford to rehearse with live band. Some get paid as little as 100K for some shows. Please remenber to use a live band you have to pay the instumentalist, rent equipments and studio.

Na where dem go get the money, not even now that shows are drying up in Nigeria.

Also, the show promoters should have got them into town weeks before the event so that they would have rehearsed with the band.

Bracket used live band at the indigo 02 on the 31st of May, though it was very boring and did not make sense, i can only blame the promoter for not bringing them in earlier,

Do you guys ever think a record label in their right senses would release any thing from the most sort after artiste minutes after his death?

Men, the song was not released by Edlyne records, neither was it released by any of its staffs. The song was released by one of Dagrins friend that he trusted with copies of his songs. After recording tracks the record label has a copy and the artist has a copy just incase they listen to it and want to change verses as they are not final versions.

Just a few hours after dagrins death, his so called friend released the song just about when his management was about to put calls out to everyone that might have one or two recordings with them eg producer, studio engineers etc.


@ Kushe, thanks for your contribution. the music industry in Nigeria is not structured and there is a lot of things that are hidden and record label cannot control.

The management will definitely make his legacy live on. There would be yearly tribute concerts and a whole lot of other things. But for now the focus is on giving him a well deserved burial.

To those that said "why didnt his record label fly him out" all your questions would be answered after his burial. We need to respect his family, friend and his soul.

Praise be to GOD Almighty, Dagrin is very much alive, contrary to words that he passed on. He left intensive care yesterday for VIP ward where he is relaxing. Keep praying your prayers have brought us thus far. Jor oooohhhhh.

This is Edward Benson, C.E.O Edlyne records. The Management company onto which Dagrin, Dj Zeez and Tillaman are signed to. Yes, Dagrin had an accident on Wednesday 14th of April 2010, at about 3am on his way back from a recording session for his new album. He collided with a stationary truck. He is currently in intensive care at the University Teaching Hspital. He is stable and recovering. It was a miraculous escape considering the extent of the damage to the car, but all in all, we thank God for his mercies endureth forever.

I have spoken to Tunde Peter (President of the record label) and Dagrin's Mum today and they confirmed he is responding to treatment.

So, please remember him in your prayers.
