Just this morning, as Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was heading out for the day's assignment which include the big event of May 29, Democracy Day, he ran into an accident scene at Ochiedike Roundabout.In his characteristic humility and compassion, the Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government, Ugwumba Nwosu had to interrupt some official assignments in order to assist some passengers who were involved in what appears to be a ghastly automobile accident.

According to a report from Nwadike Chikezie, the Social Media aide to the Chief of Staff, the youthful Chief aide to the Imo State Governor, who is popularly addressed as Ugwumba worldwide, was on his way to a crucial state function, but had to stop by to attend to the accident victims,  as he values lives more than anything else.The accident involved two buses,one carrying women mostly traders somersaulted as seen  in the picture.

After he had personally supervised the evacuation of the accident victims to the ultra-modern Ochiedike Diagnostic and Dialysis Center, he instructed the hospital staff to ensure that they are given adequate and emergency attention. He expressed joy that no life was lost and charged motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, and also ensure that they are lucid enough before taking on the wheels.
The crowd who witnessed the incident were full of praises for the Chief of Staff, commending his humility and unusual human compassion. They showered him with good wishes and prayed God to continue to lead him and open greater doors for him.

It was a very bad news on Saturday, 26th May, 2017 as a commercial bus belonging to Globis Motors Limited ran into a Romchi Mass Transit Bus before crashing with a Nissan Sunny car along Awka – Ekwulobia road by St. Peter’s Junction, Agulu.

The men of the Agulu Central Vigilante who came about five minutes after the accident did wonderfully well by helping the bus driver to the hospital as well as controlling the traffic.

The owner and driver of the car (a medical doctor) however did not sustain any injury, but the driver of the Globis Motor Limited was heavily injured with one of his legs badly affected by the accident. But to the glory of God, all the passengers in the Globis bus came out unhurt.

Rivers State Government  hands over New Federal High Court complex to Chief Judge of the Federal High Court

In a bid to improve access to justice, the Rivers State Government  has handed over the New Port Harcourt  Federal High Court complex constructed  by the Wike administration  to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta.

The hand-over of the Complex which houses six courtrooms  was preceded by a formal commissioning by the Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim  Auta on Friday .

Speaking  before handing over the Federal High Court complex  to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated that his administration  resolved to strengthen  the judicial system  as a way of promoting good governance and making Rivers State  a regional judicial  hub.

He said: "We therefore resolved not only to complete all stalled court projects but also, to initiate new ones to meet the increasing demand for judicial services by our people.

"In a country such as ours, where the justice delivery system is pretentiously federal but manifestly unitary, our quest for having the most modern and advanced court houses and justice system cannot be completely achieved if we limit our judicial transformation agenda only to State Courts.

" This is part of the reason behind our inclusive and non-discriminatory policy thrust of providing modern court buildings and necessary operational support to Federal Courts at enormous financial cost to Rivers taxpayers."

Governor Wike emphasised: "Let it also be known that we have built this courthouse to serve and advance the public interest and not to satisfy any other self-promotive motives. Accordingly, we have fulfilled our duty as leaders who mean well for our country and its progress.

"All that we ask in return is for the Federal Government to provide for the regular care and maintenance of this building so that its functionality is preserved for the use of the present and future generations."

The governor regretted the hunting and hounding of  a small band of targeted judges to prison in Gestapo style even before allegations against them were investigated.

He said such actions amount to  political witch-hunt and practical strategy to browbeat the judiciary into submission.

He said: "This nation must find better ways of fighting judicial and other corruptions with all the seriousness they deserve within the framework of the rule of law instead of entertaining the gullible public with a phantom and tendentious actions against corruption."

Commissioning  the Port Harcourt Federal High Court complex built and donated by the Rivers State Government, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta stated that  the Federal High Court complex in Port Harcourt  is outstanding  and the  best to be constructed  by a state government.

He commended Governor Wike  for his commitment  to the provision of the relevant infrastructure  for the Federal High Court, pointing  out  that the court will dispense justice according to the law.

He said that following  the official hand over, the court will begin to use the facility  on Monday.

Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iyaye-Laminkara expressed happiness  that the Rivers State Government  is providing facilities  to increase access to justice.

Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Emmanuel Aguma  (SAN) said all the Wike administration has done in the last two years is to open courts and create access to justice.

Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Onueze Okocha said the hand over of the Federal High Court complex is an addition to the testimonials  of performance  for Governor Wike.

According to the Special Adviser on Special Projects to the Rivers State Governor, Mr Dum Wite, the Complex has six courtrooms, exquisite  judges chambers, 12 holding  cells, changing rooms for lawyers, exhibits rooms and wider parking lot.

STOP ALLOCATING SOLDIERS TO POLITICIANS , GOVERNOR WIKE  TELLS ARMY HIGH COMMAND

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has urged the Army High Command  to desist from posting battalions of soldiers to politicians, saying it is counter-productive  and a threat to national security.

The governor said that the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai should go beyond complaining that politicians are hobnobing with soldiers and take action to check the disturbing trend.

Speaking during the flag off of the construction of the Old Aba Road by Mbano junction in Oyigbo Local Government Area on Wednesday , Governor Wike said all over the world, only the Commander-in-Chief has soldiers guarding him.

He regretted that  in Nigeria, the authorities  have made it a practice  to allocate soldiers to politicians  in the good books of the Federal Government, with such soldiers used for undemocratic actions against the people.

He said: "Who are those approving soldiers battalions of soldiers to politicians?  If they don't want soldiers to follow politicians, they should stop giving soldiers to politicians.

"It is only in Nigeria that soldiers follow politicians.  They should stop soldiers from being security details   to politicians.  Somebody  comes home and they will give him battalions of soldiers and they say soldiers should not hobnob with politicians.

"All over the world, it is only the commander-in-chief that is allowed to use soldiers. But here, you see soldiers following  politicians everywhere ".

On the construction of Old Aba Road by Mbano Junction in Oyigbo Local Government Area , the governor assured the people of the area that the road will be completed on schedule.

He added that the Old Market Road to  Afam will be awarded and constructed by his administration  in Oyigbo Local Government Area.

He said  since the APC Federal Government has refused to complete the East West Road, his administration will continue  to develop  alternative  routes to lubricate  the Rivers economy.

He said that his performance  has silenced the APC, urging the people of the state to turn out enmasse  for the voter registration, so that they can vote out failed politicians.

In his remarks, Works Commissioner, Mr Iheanyichuwu Bathuel said that Old Aba Road by Mbano junction is a critical  economic  road that connects neighbouring  states.

Also speaking, Caretaker Committee Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Dr Gbali Chisom lauded Governor Wike  for commencing the construction of the road.

Highpoint of the road flag off was the presentation of gifts to the Rivers State Governor by the political leader of Oyigbo, Ambassador Desmond Akawor
