Career / Re: Career Advice Needed. Remain In Dubai Or Accept An Employment Offer In Berlin? by saracen: 4:48pm On Nov 24, 2021
impactValue:
Greetings, good people of Nairaland

Please I need a piece of honest advice from experienced nairalanders, I am a Software Engineer, I got an offer from a very close friend (He is like a brother to me) of mine that resides in Dubai to come and manage a club he co-owns to enable him time for other activities. I will need to learn how nightclubs operate since I have little or zero knowledge about the nightlife. I have the freedom to pick up side gigs (or remote work) when I can and He is not in any way restricting me but he needs me to learn the business with him.

The plan, in a simple language, when I learn the business well enough he will pull out and open his own so I can be his manager since he doesn't want recognition.

He paid for my flight ticket and was the one that processed the visa for me (tourism) and he is currently working on how my visa can be extended and my work permit too.

Before I came to Dubai, I applied for this opening with a tech firm in Berlin. I completed the last stage here in Dubai and have been sent the offer but I will have to relocate to Germany because the work is on-site, the company bare expenses regards flight ticket, travel insurance, visa process et al. The start salary is 56K euros per annum (gross).

Also, I resigned from a bank as a development specialist (full-time staff not yet confirmed though, was earning 450K naira net with other benefits) prior to my trip to Dubai. I was doing well in Nigeria because I earned a total of up to 800K (with all my works combined) just that the work ethic (the bank work) is toxic to me because you will work your brain out debugging code, plus I am looking at a good place that I can start a family when I am ready and Nigeria is a no for me unless I have enough money to send my kid abroad to study.

What do I do now that I am already in Dubai? I am passionate about tech and I love the echo system. Please any input from experienced fellows will go a long way for me.

Thanks in advance. Mod please help so I can get as much input as possible

As someone who knows both cities and both sectors go to Berlin. Dubai is expensive no prospects of passport or long term residence and jobs are few and far between. That club in Dubai story will not work and you will regret it trust me. Berlin gives you an EU Blue Card and you can move around as much as you wish, its a top-tier European nation. You will waste your life and time in Dubai IT or otherwise where Indians are ready to work for half the salary they were paying you in Nigeria sef. Many dey street for Dubai with strong CV. No try am.

Lol. Bola Tinubu and co did security guard work back in the day, where are they now? Focus on your future plans and leave women right now. They always come around when your money is right regardless of whatever you were doing in the past. Trust me.

If You've Done This Job Before, Pls Tell Me Your Experience Too

This my thread is just mainly for single men and guys outside there and I would like to share my experience with you guys on what I have undergone and experienced as a Security guard.

To be a security guard is not a job I can advise my enemy to opt for let alone my friend or relation. The job is a regardless one and very disgusting.

As a security guard, you are more or less a beggar in the street, should I say beggar has a little regard more than you.

When people see you, they see nothing in you. Most especially when you're trying to speak to them in English making them to know that you're educated...(laugh..) You just did it wrong, to them it means you are having mental problem.

The image impression of 98% of people on guys who do this job to hustle for their lives rather than involving in criminal practices is that they have no future; is that they cannot make it in their lives; e.t.c.

Since I've started this job when I finished my program in the polytechnic, any lady I made to know about the job I do turns me off later, some said it's a beggars' work.

And currently, I hardly have female friends not to talk of girlfriends or marriage.

Though, I didn't mean to start this job before if not condition, but now I'm planning to quit the job and find another.

Sometimes, I cried in my room, begging God to show me another way.

One of the workers in the place of work that I'm guiding once told me that his dog is better off than me. This is even the person that cannot even compose simple correct English, he said his dog is better than me.

Your experience too is allowed... Thank you.

You are not there to impress anyone or make friends or feel better about yourself. You are there to do a job, make money and find something better. Take dignity in labour and know that it is a stage which you must plan to graduate from. You're earning a living not stealing. Save money and progress to something else. Don't sit down there lamenting, girlfriends and co are not your priority right now.

Not fake news... TransferWise is 374.12 for weeks now

Payoneer is 382.. These are parallel rates which all these websites use.

The truth behind this is, they use 3rd party BDC company in Nigeria (If you can mention TransferWise, you will know the BDC I'm talking about). They are the one eating the big chunk of it. They will get the USD at 450 and give people 374-382.

But if you use Dom account and collect your dollars and take it to Aboki or dem BDC gangan, na 450 o....

Its not their fault or a BDC. CBN forces services like TransferWise and Western Union to sell to banks at official IFEX rates which are around 370 Naira. If you use an informal service like BDC's you get the street or black market rates.

Romance / Re: She Is Sweet And Loyal But Her Ex Is The Biggest Threat. by saracen: 12:08am On May 01, 2020
OP let me tell you a secret. First I will ask you to read the words of the great master tai2

https://www.nairaland.com/396243/how-maintain-control-woman/

Like the master, these women don show me pepper, but let me give you the advantage of wisdom earned by experience.

When it comes to women 1+1 is never equals to 2.

Never deal with a woman based on how you feel. Women are funny people, the more you have to show you love them, the likelier they are to disappoint you. I've dated ugly women, beautiful women, they are all the same. If you treat a woman who is used to bleeped up guys, extremely well, they will Bleep you up. A lot of guys think women are like investments, the more you invest, the better the return. Its a big lie.

Women work based on how they. They can feel one way one minute and another way tomorrow. The more you try to convince them of your love, the greater your downfall. Sure, they might yield when you assault them with emotion, but remain rest assured your downfall is 5 minutes away.

You see this babe you are tripping for, professing your love, close marking her, is only buying you 15 minutes extra time. You will still lose the match. She might yield initally but later she will still Bleep up. No matter how much you love her, no need to struggle.

You know what women like, uncertainty and strong-willed men. If you tell her you love her and leave her alone when she starts to misbehave with this guy (oh yes she will, if he's persistent), she will come back, if not in three months, in one year or two years. If you continue pursuing her, when she starts to misbehave, the farther she will run from you. I be lover boy, I don do this thing tire.

My advice to you is to enjoy yourself, remove your mind and prepare for the worst. When it happens, don't budge, don't beg , don't explain don't ask why. I can guarantee you, the back will find her way back, if not in three months, one year or two years. By then you no go send sef. Don't work based on your emotions, they will cheat you and you will feel worse than a rag. Leave love, focus on your hustle, chop other babes, keep it moving.

The good thing is she hasn't bleeped up yet. In the mean time, chop her well, knack like the knacking will end tomorrow. Knack the thing like say tomorrow no dey, forget love. When she bleeps up. Go silent. Even if it kills you, no cough, find another knack, read your books, keep yourself busy. You will retain your dignity and she will come running back. Why do you think the ex who left her still has a hold on her life? He moved on easily without remorse, they hate that shit, they will come running everytime back over that nonsense.

Your lover boy mind will say i'm wrong, you will remember sweet words, memories etc, be tempted to write long love letters. baba, they will be reading your letter and screwing the other guy five ways from Sunday. The best thing is to enjoy what you have left and lock up when its done, no cry, no beg, no write long love letter no ask how are you, they will turn up when the guy don run them down, and they will fear and respect you more for locking up at that time.

I hope you really hear this, I learnt the very very hard way. Women are like breeze, they blow in any direction, enjoy the moment, don't let it direct your life. Can you chase breeze and catch it? please learn from elders and don't destroy your life, when you see success women will be chasing you and you will be running, I know it feels like nothing else can replace her, or make you feel like she does, forget those sentiments. Better be known as heartless than as a mugu. You will feel sad but you will hold your dignity and your pride, don't rubbish yourself and end up hating yourself or doubting your manhood.
