Working in a club is really a great thing and it gives you opportunity to sell yourself and you can also bring in more guys from your own end if the club works, infact for your very close friend to trust you and bring you into his advancement is a great thing, you are someone he can trust!

It's a no brainer. Success of the club or otherwise is unknown. You don't want to start job hunting afresh if the club does not succeed. It's really a thin rope.

The tech company on the other, I think aligns with your passion and experience.

I'll go for Berlin option if I were you.

Simple. It will be unfortunate for your friend having made an investment in your flight and visa and you must be willing to compensate him (even if he does not want the compensation since you guys are close). But go build your career in Germany. The annual salary there sef is healthy!!

Generally people who work in IT (myself included) tend to have this semi introverted personality and that won’t blend well with night life business - this might force your friend to renege on his promise of making you the manager

I lived in Dubai for years and can tell you how fast time flies in this country and if you are not smart enough you might not achieve much both home/abroad irrespective of your salary because the pay is high but the expenses? Even higher - my point is that the working class here usually live hand to mouth despite there being no guarantee of getting citizenship/passport irrespective of how long you live there/how much you spend.

I have not been to Germany before so can’t advice much about that but definitely Dubai isn’t the best option in your scenario because getting EU residence with your family comes with a lot benefit that you can’t get by being a resident of UAE - don’t even entertain the thought of moving your family to UAE - I have friends who did that and are reconsidering a way out of the mess now.

Also, your friend is like a brother doesn’t mean he will play the role of an employer or you will play the role of employee really well.

Go to Germany. Your journey is a little similar to my sisters - she is a software engineer too.
When you get to Germany, try to cross over to Canada or US (especially Newfoundland Priority Skills, a province in Canada that gives priority and work permits to particular job roles, especially IT).
However if you decide to stay in Germany, that is still awesome.

Berlin is beautiful, been there and loved it. It isn't so fast paced like London or Munich I suppose (never been to Munich though, just heard).
Career wise, I feel Berlin is better for you and I bet your friend will understand considering he'll also want what's best for you.

You can have an honest talk with him and recommend someone you know that is trustworthy to take your place. Do try to understand the tax system in Germany and know what your net income is though cos omo that Berlin is somehow expensive compared to smaller cities like Budapest though.

As far as I know they once had a housing problem (houses dey but just too expensive lol) but I think the govt stepped in. If you like history you'll love the place.
Visit L'osteria restaurant near Alexanderplatz and thank me later. Affordable and nice meals there.
I hope you don't like beer cos Germans will kill you with cheap and very good drinks. Also once you're in Europe, you have way more access to opportunities and career boost. Look out for occasional subtle racism but you should be able to handle it, from my experience there it could definitely be worse �

As someone who knows both cities and both sectors go to Berlin. Dubai is expensive no prospects of passport or long term residence and jobs are few and far between. That club in Dubai story will not work and you will regret it trust me. Berlin gives you an EU Blue Card and you can move around as much as you wish, its a top-tier European nation. You will waste your life and time in Dubai IT or otherwise where Indians are ready to work for half the salary they were paying you in Nigeria sef. Many dey street for Dubai with strong CV. No try am.

In addition to points already raised, i.e. Following your heart/strength (engineering), the devil you know (engineering) being better than the Saint you don't (entertainment) etc I'd also like to add that the UAE doesn't have a path to citizenship etc. You'd work, earn and even live well, but can never be a citizen or passport holder you'd remain a stranger who can be sent packing at the twinkling of an eye.

Germany on the other hand has paths to citizenship which opens you and your future family to the world, giving you more options and that quality of life.

Similarly, Social welfare benefits provided for citizens are not extended to migrants. Free medical care, free education from primary school to university level and low-cost housing are only provided to citizens. It's very easy to go from grace to grass in the UAE

I completed the last stage here in Dubai and have been sent the offer but I will have to relocate to Germany because the work is on-site, the company bare expenses regards flight ticket, travel insurance, visa process et al. The start salary is 56K euros per annum (gross).

Also, I resigned from a bank as a development specialist (full-time staff not yet confirmed though, was earning 450K naira net with other benefits) prior to my trip to Dubai. I was doing well in Nigeria because I earned a total of up to 800K (with all my works combined) just that the work ethic (the bank work) is toxic to me because you will work your brain out debugging code, plus I am looking at a good place that I can start a family when I am ready and Nigeria is a no for me unless I have enough money to send my kid abroad to study.

What do I do now that I am already in Dubai? I am passionate about tech and I love the echo system. Please any input from experienced fellows will go a long way for me.
