No plan to quit APC, says Tinubu
FacebookTwitterGoogle+PinterestLinkedInWhatsAppEmail
Rumours that All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council Co-Chair Asiwaju Bola Tinubu plans to quit the ruling party were dismissed yesterday.

The APC chieftain’s Media Adviser Tunde Rahman said Tinubu remained unshaken in the ruling party.

The clarification put to rest speculations that the former Lagos State governor was through with the APC because of the disruption of the presidential campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Monday.

The rumour followed a video clip showing Asiwaju Tinubu at the APC Presidential Campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State, throwing the party’s flag to National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had latched on to the clip and interpreted it to mean that the APC leader threw away the party.

Rahman explained that Asiwaju was passing the flag on to Oshiomhole for presentation to the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

In the statement, Rahman said the claim that Tinubu threw away the party was false.

He said: “Asiwaju remains gidigba (solid) in the governing party.”

The statement reads: “If you want to fault Asiwaju for anything in this matter, your critique can only be limited to the accuracy of his toss. Any attempt to enlarge the episode beyond this is fiction and mischief writ large.”

Agreeing that an incident did occur at the Ogun State APC rally, Rahman said it was not what the PDP concocted.

He said: “The true incident that should be reported and condemned is that people who furtively oppose the party and the President tried to infiltrate and disrupt this rally. “The attack by these operatives was disrespectful of the office of the President and could have potentially harmed the person of the president.

“With but a few precious days until the election and with its chance of victory running out even faster than the time, the PDP now grasps at the most nonsensical and desperate tactics to salvage its falling enterprise.

“However, a drowning man cannot toss himself a lifeline. Nor can the PDP succeed in turning the innocuous attempted exchange of a flag between the national leader and national chairman into a rift in the APC’s successful campaign.

“Such antics have no place in our political discourse. The author of these misdeeds should desist before real harm is done. Now to the crux of the opposition’s latest antics, if the issue of the flag has become the hotspot of the PDP campaign, then they are in serious trouble.

“During that portion of the Ogun rally, the national chairman and others were looking for a party flag. Asiwaju Tinubu spotted one within his reach. He picked it up and attempted to toss it to Oshiomhole so that the chairman could present it to the party’s gubernatorial candidate Prince Abiodun.

“If you want to fault Asiwaju for anything in this matter, your critique can only be limited to the accuracy of his toss. Any attempt to enlarge the episode beyond this is fiction and mischief writ large.

“As the National Leader, Asiwaju Tinubu is thoroughly faithful and committed to the APC. It is unthinkable that he would leave the party. Moreover, there is no reason for him to do so. He has been hard at work for the victory of the APC and all of its candidates in the upcoming election.

“Asiwaju understands the bigger picture. He knows what is at stake in this election. Either the nation moves forward along the progressive path of the APC or it will be forced to retreat into the ills of the past created by the PDP. With the nation’s future hanging in the balance, Asiwaju will not allow himself to be deterred by petty mischief.”

The statement advised those spinning the matter to make better use of their imaginations.

It stressed: “Asiwaju is not going anywhere. He remains gidigba (solid) in APC. And after the election, he will be there celebrating the APC’s and this nation’s victory over those who would prevent us our rightful future.

South-south and South-east: My Thought On PDP stronghold –

PDP have consistently won 60% or more of the total votes since 2003 in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Rivers.

In the last election, PDP got about 50% of their total votes from these states, 6,892,762 votes. The party received 80% or more from each state; the highest was Anambra with 98.5%. But what are the chances of PDP/Atiku repeating the 2015 feat next week in their stronghold?

Personally, I believe PDP have lost some ground in most of these states, if not all.

• In Anambra, Governor Obiano is not hiding his affection for President Buhari and not shying away from publicly promoting the achievements of the Buhari Government in the state and south east as a whole. PDP won the state with 98.5% of the total votes in the last election, I strongly believe this time around, the state could easily swing in favour of either of the two major parties.

• Imo, despite the obvious friction in Imo APC, the incumbent Governor is still solidly behind President Buhari and APC as far as the presidential election is concerned. I doubt if that support will be readily available in the Gubernatorial election especially. I believe APC have a better chance of winning this state.

• In Akwa Ibom and Delta, APC has successfully formed some great alliances and the party seem united in both states. In 2015, PDP secured 2.2 million votes from both states compare to APC 107,321. With the two states boasting 4,965,001 registered voters, an increase of over 1 million newly registered from last election, there is all to play for. I believe PDP will still win both states. I do not honestly believe APC is strong enough to win either state in this election, but I am confident the party will do exceptionally well, which will be nothing compare to the 2015 result.

• No doubt APC have gained some ground in Abia, cross river, Enugu, Bayelsa and Ebonyi, they are not significant enough for the party to win any of those states. PDP will still retain these states but not in a way they will want to. In the last election, PDP had about 90% of total votes in all these states, I don’t see that happening in this election. APC will comfortably secure at least the required 25% in all, and looking at the voting record of these states, it would be considered a decent outing for APC.

• Rivers state, the crown jewel of PDP stronghold with 3,215,273 registered voters. In the last election, PDP had 95% of total votes (1,487,075 votes) compare to APC 4.4% (69,238 votes). Thanks to Amaechi, Abe and co, they have successfully made a mess of APC’s chances in the state. Even though I do honestly believe PDP will win the state, I also believe APC will perform far better than they did in 2015.

At the end of the day, south-south and south-east will remain a PDP stronghold, at least the time being. Though PDP is still firmly entrenched in these two regions, but with Imo state out of their grip, and both main parties having a 50-50 chance of winning Anambra state, this is enough to worry PDP. It says a lot on how deep APC has encroached into their territory. APC secured only about 5% of total votes in SS and SE in 2015, and they still won the election. If they manage to secure about 35-40% in this election, which believe they will, it would be considered a great success. If I were PDP supporter, I would be worried.

PoliticsWhat Actually Caused The Crisis In Apc Rally In Ogun State by sarrki(op): 8:19am On Feb 12, 2019
President Buhari is a man full of wisdom just like Jagaban. Because of PMB's AGE, he has acquired priceless wisdom over a period of time, this makes him a Stammerer in words but very eloquent in action. Recall, how Asiwaju suffered wicked betrayals from those he unilaterally, through the help of God, took to power, those that thought their ambitions were dead but who Tinubu rekindled their hope and assisted to fulfil destiny, these same folks turned back to stab him but on each occasion, JAGABAN always survived!!! During the merger preparations of the APC, John Oyegun at a function in Benin City referred to Jagaban severally as "MY LEADER, OUR LEADER", at another function in Abuja, he called him "MY OWN LEADER". It was Tinubu who sponsored him to replace Bisi Akande as the APC Chairman against Tom Ikimi, it was not Buhari that brought him, Tinubu did. But what happened? John Oyegun and others like Amosun who Tinubu helped to power joined hands with other haters of Jagaban's political guts to tell lies against him before PMB. Just like when your children say you're a bad father, how can anyone defend you betterhuh Those who skimmed to destroy Tinubu were not the northerners, not the Southerners, not even the PDP but those that Tinubu himself brought to power, or elevated in power or brought back to reckoning......They were the ones who attempted to skim him out of relevance. Yes they failed abysmally.

Those ingrates grew at first, they looked unstoppable and some people began to see them as future leaders, they're getting patronage at the 100% expense of their benefactor until one day, when PMB, having taken them to the last floor of a 200 storey building pushed them down himself and restored Jagaban to his rightful place. PMB had earlier agreed to extend the tenure of John Oyegun who the Amosun and Mesu (Saraki)of this world were using to destroy the APC, Tinubu and PMB himself but after 2 weeks of this decision,PMB reversed it, got John Oyegun retired at the expiration of his tenure, brought Oshiomole another Jagaban's Influence, into office, in the process, another prominent traitor Banire became history and was replaced. This made MESU and Amosun described PMB as Lagos stooge, as seen from MESU's excuse for returning to the PDP. Amosun was frustrated and his ego bruised!!! I thank PMB for this action, God will bless him abundantly. However, while Mesu left, Amosun his late night friend and ally stays because of his friends in the SW who may not follow him to perdition and also, to see if PMB can still be re-manipulated to do his bidding his desire to bring down Jagaban which, in his myopic view, will enhance his 2023 Presidential ambition...lol.

Again, Primaries were held to choose Next Governors, Amosun wrote the names of those he wants for all positions including those that will be Commissioners after election, unfortunately, he banked on his usual PMB support which never came, the party chose another candidates! Let me tell you one thing today, if PMB wanted to do Amosun bidding, all he needed to do was to tell Oshiomole his preferred candidate but he never did, he chose to allow Amosun embark on his his self destruct journey, exactly where he is today. Amosun is the second most frustrated politician in Nigeria today after Mesu. The house of lies he built in the SW Politics collapsed from Oyo to Osun to Ondo, Ekiti, Lagos and even Ogun. In setting up PMB Campaign team in the SW, PMB ensured it was JAGABAN Compliant. If you know You know. However, the Party put each State Governor in charge of their states, this was the last joker Amosun used yesterday, he ejected the APC supporters from the venue and allowed in only his political touts to enter, those touts that failed him during the APC Primaries in Ogun State. He ended up losing permanently, the title YOUR EXCELLENCY yesterday and becomes the CHIEF TOUT of OKE IMOSAN.

Even in his den of touts, Aregbesola, Amaechi, Oshiomole confronted him and dared his touts.......

"VOTE WHOEVER YOU WANT"....lol, that is the statement many political amateurs are killing PMB for. In 2015, CNN's Christian Amanpour asked GMB about one General who GMB thought was not supporting him, PMB said "anyone is free to vote whoever he wants, Nigerians will decide the ultimate winner".......Occasion like that of yesterday warranted what the President did. Even at that, he was not spared by those touts who threw pure water satchet on the stage, the worst form of touting in Nigeria. Here, is a man who did not help his in-law get Adamawa Ticket, a man who allowed the Party to be independent, who degraded the powers of those who think they can reduce their leader and mock him. In their wildest imagination, they never thought PMB and JAGABAN will still be friends today.....That is why they have practically run insane! Their insanity shall be permanent. PMB spoke to the touting crowd of Amosun yesterday, he is coming back to address the APC Rally in Ogun State after the Saturdays election.
