How could this officer be fair and just to any member of the opposition be they from APGA or PDP when and if the need arise? Sure, we are the architects of our own problems. You cannot have as big a problem as the banditry problem bedeviling the North and still have the luxury of attaching security details to people on the basis of their positions in a ruling party. We can never get a different result by doing the same things that gave birth to our problems.

The United States (US) Department of State has awarded Pernix Federal, LLC of Lombard, Illinois the $319 million design-build contract for the new US Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria.


The announcement was made in a statement by the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the US Consulate General in Lagos.

According to the statement, “The 12.2-acre site for the new Consulate General is part of Eko Atlantic, a development led by South Energyx Nigeria Limited in collaboration with Lagos State.



“The location will provide the future diplomatic campus and its neighbours with access to sustainable, modern infrastructure, including an 8.5 km seawall designed to protect the city from rising sea levels and coastal erosion.


“Ennead Architects of New York, New York is the design architect.

“The new Consulate General will provide a modern, resilient platform for diplomacy in Nigeria and is expected to be completed in 2027.”

The statement added that “Since the start of the Department’s Capital Security Construction Program in 1999, the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) has completed 168 new diplomatic facilities.

“OBO currently has more than 50 active projects, either in design or under construction worldwide.


“OBO provides safe, secure, functional, and resilient facilities that represent the US government to the host nation and that support U.S. diplomats in advancing US foreign policy objectives abroad

On Thursday night at the State House, we honored the memory of Joseph Blankson, a true Nigerian hero, who lost his life while saving others following a boat accident on the Abonnema-Bakana waterway in Rivers State, on July 28, 2018.

Blankson successfully rescued 13 persons, and tragically drowned while attempting the 14th rescue. He was the sole casualty of the boat accident.

I presented a posthumous Presidential Special Award for Bravery and Patriotism to his wife, Mercy, and his two children, in recognition of the greatness and heroism of their husband and father.
