Politics / Police Shot, Killed Protesting Children At Close Range In Kano - Amnesty Intl. by SATANICALLY: 3:51pm On Aug 04
Human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has alleged that Nigerian police in Kano recklessly shot at close range and killed protesters including children in the ongoing nationwide hunger protest.

In a statement on Sunday, Amnesty International said the police killed 10 protesters in Kano.

The organisation urged the Nigerian authorities to effectively and impartially investigate the killing of at least 10 peaceful hunger protesters by the police at some locations in Kano — including Kurna and Kofar Nasarawa.

“Some of those killed were children chanting “peace,” the human rights organisation said.

Contacted on Sunday, the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, neither picked calls made to his mobile nor replied to text and WhatsApp messages sent as of the time this report was filed.

Despite footages of police opening lives rounds on fleeing protesters, the Inspector- General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, claimed that the police remained civil in their operations

Though President Bola Tinubu condoled families of those killed during the protests, he didn’t dwell on the actions of the police in enforcing peace during the demonstrations.

“I commiserate with the families and relations of those who have died in the protests. We must stop further bloodshed, violence and destruction,” Mr Tinubu said.

The number of citizens killed by the police during the nationwide hunger protest had risen to 23 according to Amnesty International which claimed that 13 persons were killed on the first day of the protest on August 1. But the police faulted the claim, stating that 681 criminals were arrested for various crimes between Thursday and Friday.

On Saturday, the third day of nationwide protests, Peoples Gazette reported how security operatives fired live bullets at cars conveying reporters thereby causing panic around the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Politics / Tension In Daura As Protesters Troop To Buhari’s Residence, Emir’s Palace by SATANICALLY: 5:16pm On Aug 01
Angry protesters trooped to the residence of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State, on Thursday.

The protesters, in their numbers, joined the #EndBadGovernance nationwide demonstration.

The protest turned violent in some states, leading to deaths and forcing at least three governors to declare curfew.

The mob which attempted to break into the residence of the former number one citizen said they were fed up with the economic situation of the country.

“They set up bonfire in front of the former President’s house and were chanting loudly,” a witness told Daily Trust via telephone on Thursday.

In a video reviewed by Daily Trust, young persons were seen shouting on top of their voices.

“Bama yi! Bama yi! Bama yi!,” the crowd chorused in Hausa.

The term, which literarily translates as “we don’t want”, is usually used as a form of disapproval during protests.

It took the intervention of an unidentified person who came out of Buhari’s residence to address the angry youths.

The person, according to the witness, asked the mob to select one person to speak, while he would be recorded and the video shown to the Nigerian leader.

After this, the angry youths reportedly headed for the palace of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar Farouk.

One of them was reportedly shot on the leg by security operatives who were trying to disperse them but the protesters refused to back down.

According to a resident of Daura, who wouldn’t want his name mentioned, “I was at my place of work organising speech and prize event for our students when the protest began. I was briefed about what happened. I learnt that the protesters took to the residences of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Emir of Daura and Magajin Garin Daura.

“While returning home from my place of work, I moved through the residence of Alhaji Musa Uba, the Magajin Gari, a senior traditional title holder in Emirate, and can confirm that some minor damages had been done there. He was reportedly against the protest and that could be the reason the protesters attacked his house. They threw stones at the house but the situation was contained by security operatives. The palace of the Emir is being guarded by the army and police. As we speak, Daura is calm.”

The only road linking Mai’adua-Daura and Katsina was blocked as youth expressed dissatisfaction with the government.

Politics / Okowa: The Rave Of Arise TV Presidential Debate by SATANICALLY: 1:14pm On Nov 07, 2022
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,is never enamoured with publicity stunts.

Mild and mellow in comportment, Okowa does not woo media showmanship. But how come a man who never advertises himself like a Peacock before the press captures the most resounding attention? Why is a stickler for guarded reticence the champion of memorable resonance? That is the puzzle of the Okowa persona.

Nothing exemplified this in recent times like the towering standing of Governor Okowa at the Sunday November 7, 2022 Arise TV presidential Town Hall debate.

Natty in a smart suit, he was nimble in motion.

Whether in his assertion of insights and precepts, counter against posers and salvos, the PDP Vice Presidential flag bearer was at his eloquent best. Okowa’s gait on Arise TV elicited awe. His language civil, passionate and elevated. Succinct to the mood of a troubled nation in dire need of survival and succour from a rudderless centre overwhelmed from all fronts.

The media engagement was obviously hosted to interrogate the seriousness of those aspiring to lead Nigeria in 2023,as part of the all-important Agenda setting responsibility of the media.

Okowa had represented the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on the prime -time Television Programme.

Peter Obi of Labour Party, (LP) Rabiu Kwankwaso, New Nigeria People’s party (NNPP) and Kola Abiola,Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) were on the podium anchored live by Dr.Rueben Abati.

Neither the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu nor his running mate ,Kashim Shettima made appearance at the media call. A sad negation of duty when it mattered most.

Facing the nation with dignified calm, Okowa endearingly inspired hope and respite among millions of Nigerians articulating and envisioning realistic roadmaps on the economy, security, power and human capital growth.

While others, continually dwelt on blame games, hasty generalisations and combative prevarications, the PDP Vice Presidential candidate was steady with profuse actualities, explaining aptly and coherently.

His sound bites were unpretentious and poignant:

“ I don’t want to believe that in midst of scarcity and infrastructure deficit, what to do is to continue to save money … when the economy is in shambles, when the money is depreciating by the day. The right path is to ensure that you use the money for development of the people, to create entrepreneurs, to create enabling environment for industries to grow … so we must be cautious, the kind of language we pass out to Nigerians” He said deconstructing illusions of sanctimonious posturing.

Turning to another challenge, Okowa quipped pointedly that a partaker of an alleged “ destruction” cannot exonerate himself from such trumpeted misnomer.

In a multi -party democracy where the struggle for power looms at its fiercest, the declarations may be discomforting, but traducers would no doubt respect his soundness of mind and organized mien.

Among the peers under scrutiny, Okowa’s political experience was spell -binding. He stood matchless in clarity of thought and manifested enlightened vision.

It was a profound illumination, amplifying prospects of revival, cohesion and development towards a better Nigeria,in the face of hydra headed socio- economic quagmire, threatening Africa’s most populous nation.

But here lies the symbolism of Okowa’s sterling outing on Arise TV. His power of conviction towards national reawakening has at once regaled PDP as the only party truly committed to “rescue Nigeria”. His outstanding performance has shown that the PDP possesses the capacity to bring healing and a new lease of life to a very sick nation. Indeed, Okowa brought honour to his party and a great service to his country.

His pedigree prepared him for the task. Good breeding and sound education define Okowa’s trajectory. Atiku must be very proud of his running mate.

There is a sad spirit of heaviness in the hearts of Nigerians with harrowing hunger and hardship across the land. No thanks to inept leadership, tragically overwhelmed. Nigeria had never been this divided, stagnated and subdued in fear and hopelessness.

The Atiku/Okowa Presidency offers elixir of redemption and restoration come 2023.

While receiving the decampees at the official commissioning ceremony of the Bundilin Dutse PDP office in Bundot ward, the PDP Chairman of Dass local government, Alhaji Shatima Sani Korau, commended them for joining his party.

Korau, who described the PDP as one united powerful political party in Africa, enjoined them to support the party to maintain its status for the development of the local government, state, and the nation.

He also assured the decampees of his council’s readiness to carry everybody along irrespective of any differences.

They were issued membership cards of the PDP to enable them to participate fully in the party affairs.

He urged the people of Dass to continue supporting the PDP’s transformation efforts.

In his goodwill message, the Deputy Chairman of the Dass Local Government Area, Hon. Ambassador Prince Noah (Wadata) Danmalikin Bundot, described the move as a clear indication of the party victory ahead of 2023.

Prince Noah said since the inception of democracy in 1999, Dass has never found itself in the opposition until recently due to some reasons which he said have been politically resolved, which informed the mass return of the members to the PDP.

While congratulating the decampees for taking the right step, Noah said that the PDP remains the only hope for Nigerians.

Ahead of next year general election, about 4,000 members of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kaiama and Ilorin west local government councils of Kwara State have dumped the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

The defectors claimed that their decisions to quit the APC was because they were sidelined by the powers that be in the party after the electoral victory in the 2019 elections in the state.

They also said that the present APC led administration had failed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the populace since assumption of office.

Among those that defected at Kaiama local government area include Hon. Issa Inuwa Baagee, Hon.Abdulhafeez Inuwa and Mr..Kararudeen Salihu.

The defectors who were from Wojibe ward in Kaiama local government area of the state said, “After a wider consultations with our political friends and followers, we have decided to dump Kwara State APC with thousands of followers to Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP)”.

They said that, their defection to the PDP was also as a result of the party’s use and dump nature.

They further said, “We are grassroots politicians who have been in Kwara politics for years back and our continued staying in Kwara APC is becoming waste before our political followers.

“This is the time to retrace our steps back and support all PDP candidates so as to.mobilse the people of Kwara North senatorial district for 2023 elections in order to move the state forward”.

Also, in Ilorin west local government, the APC defectors vowed to work for the success of the PDP during the forthcoming general election in the state.

Politics / 2023: Hundreds Of APC Members Defect To PDP In Ondo by SATANICALLY: 6:27pm On Sep 05, 2022
Ahead of next year’s general elections, hundreds of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday, dumped the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

At a grand rally held at the PDP secretariat, Igbara-Oke, on Monday, the leader of the defectors, the leader of ‘Honest Ladies Group’, Mrs Toyin Adejiyan from Ilara-Mokin Ward 1,
said their defection is significant, saying it was a pointer that Ondo remains the home of PDP and the party would have a very good outing in the 2023 elections.

Speaking while receiving the defectors the PDP chairman in the local government, Chief Dare Owolafe, expressed confidence in the victory of the party and assured them of justice, fairness and equity amongst members of the PDP and called on others who are yet to join to do so.

He expressed confidence that the party will in any future election, urging others to join the winning party, and said “We are very happy to have APC members in our midst and we believe that it will boost the morale of our great party, it is a welcome development.”

An aspirant contesting for the state House of Assembly, Bamidele Ayodele, while welcoming the defectors said “the programme was to celebrate the decampees who have seen that the PDP is the only party that can rescue the country in the forthcoming general elections”.

Ayodele said the future of PDP in the state is very bright compared to the ruling APC, saying the APC government has failed woefully in bringing economic untold hardship to Nigerians.

“That’s why I will advise those that are defecting from APC to PDP to compare and contrast. They should stay and continue doing well because our party have a brighter tomorrow,” Ayodele said.

Former Chairman of PDP in the state, Mr Clement Faboyede, described the defection as a welcome development, saying the mass decamping to PDP was expected “because we are all living in this country and we know how it is today”.

“We can all see that Nigeria is no longer at ease. Is it in terms of security or education?
Our sons and daughters have been at home for the past six months now due to the ASUU strike, it is purely a leadership failure.

“We can’t continue like this. APC government has failed woefully. when Goodluck Jonathan was there as a president, we knew how the country was and we know how it is today.

“That is why we are saying no to APC government come 2023 general elections.
Nigerians should vote out APC from the ward level to the federal level. They have done havoc, they have failed woefully,”
the former PDP chairman said.

Politics / Amosun’s Ally, Babatunde Onakoya 5000 Others Dump APC For PDP In Ogun by SATANICALLY: 5:36pm On Sep 02, 2022
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Babatunde Onakoya, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party with his loyalists.

Onakoya, an ally of former governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun, popularly called Debasco led his group known as Debasco political group into the PDP.

Onakoya and his followers officially joined the party on Wednesday at an event held in his Atiba residence in Ijebu Ode.

Debasco disclosed that he was forced to leave the ruling party because of the unsettled rift in the party.

Onakoya, who used the occasion of his 69th birthday to join the opposition party, said that though Amosun and the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun, are his brothers, he has no choice than to leave the ruling party due to the lingering crisis in the party.

Speaking before handing over the PDP flag to Onakoya, the Ogun PDP Chairman, Sikirulahi Ogundele, disclosed that people are daily trooping into the opposition party because it is so glaring that the ruling party has failed woefully both at the state and national level.

Ogundele disclosed that just last Friday, over 10,000 people defected into PDP in the state saying that even before the 2023 general elections people have made up their minds to end the hardship foisted on them by rejecting the APC.

He described Onakoya as a big fish and another influential political leader in Ogun East who is coming into the opposition party with over 5,000 followers.

Making his remarks at the event, the 2023 governorship candidate of the party for the state, Ladipupo Adebutu, described PDP as the only party that is committed to saving the country from its woes.

He said, “It is however becoming so glaring that come 2023, the party is returning to the Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta to continue its good works.”

Adebutu lauded Onakoya for being courageous enough to leave APC with his followers put at over 5000 to team up with PDP whose sole aim is to wrestle the people of the state from the insensitive government of APC.

Speaking earlier, Segun Oyesanwo, Head of Media of Debasco Group, in his welcome address disclosed that the choice of PDP as the party to join was influenced by the commitment of the party to always prize citizens’ welfare above any other considerations

Oyesanwo said, “In Debasco group, we are also of the strong opinion that if someone from Remo land in the person of Governor Dapo Abiodun starts something and another person from Remo land, that is Hon Ladipupo Adebutu who is also from Iperu like the sitting governor finishes the assignment, there is no crime here and that is why all of us in Debasco group are ready to work for the emergence of Hon Ladipupo Adebutu as the next governor of the state come 2023.”

Onakoya also used the medium to distribute empowerment tools like grinding machines, generators, dryers, clippers among others to party members.

Politics / Atiku, Ayu, Lamido, PDP Big Wigs Land In Kano For Shekarau’s Defection by SATANICALLY: 7:25pm On Aug 28, 2022
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has arrived in Kano State. Atiku is in the state to welcome former Kano State governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau to the PDP.

He was subsequently elected into the senate on the ruling party’s platform. However, he fell out with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

After a few months in the new party, his relationship with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso went sour after some staunch loyalists of the senator failed to get NNPP tickets to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.

Posting pictures of his arrival to Kano on social media, the former vice president wrote, “I just touched down at the Centre of Commerce, Kano State. The next few days are set to be very productive. – AA.”

Daily Trust understands that the PDP big wigs would formally welcome Shekarau back to the party on Monday.

Below are pictures of their arrival.
