I used to be a diehard Buhari adherent but looking back now I realize he didn't have any business being a president in a highly socioeconomic challenging and highly corrupt country like Nigeria, he shouldn't have done more than a term then, I do think that most of our presidents are usually not so corrupt but their aides and appointees are the ones who steal mindlessly, so about time we citizens initiate petitions and signatures to the national assembly for the introduction of death penalty like in China

1. Nigeria is able to borrow as much as it is doing because the international financial institutions rate Mr Tinubu's economic reforms. The World Bank is not a fool. They don't willingly lend to countries that will not be able to pay back. Under the last government, these institutions and other governments were reluctant to lend to Nigeria because they did not have confidence in our economy. Now they do, and contrary to the noise from opposition and part of the media, the current government has not borrowed too much, relative to the size of our economy.

2. By borrowing, at a cheap rate, this government has been able to reduce the depletion of the foreign reserves. This, in turn has given local and international investors some confidence in the naira. If the foreign reserve was at $33 billion, instead of the current level of $43 billion, naira would be hovering around N1800 or worse and be very unstable. Would you have preferred that to the government borrowing?

3. If a country needs to rapidly develop its infrastructure,like Nigeria desperately needs to, and doesn't have the money, then borrowing for that purpose is not a bad thing. I don't know which part of the country you are based in, but in my part of the country there are several gigantic road construction going on. I hope it is the same where you are.

Yes, you're right to be concerned about politicians piling on debt for future generations, however, it does appear on balance,that the loans are for good purposes.

Mr Dangote's companies probably take more loans than any other companies in Nigeria, but they are also the most prosperous.

With politicians, you can never be sure about their motives, but I have a good feeling about Mr Tinubu and I believe he is the most competent leader Nigeria has had in 65 years of independence. Not perfect, but very good, especially with the economy.
