CultureBereaved Son Share Burial Demands From Village Group, Sparks Debate by Savageman247(op): 3:32pm On Jul 15
A Nigerian man has ignited conversations on social media after revealing the list of items his family was asked to provide by one of his village groups following the death of his mother.

The man, Emeka Nobis, disclosed that he and his brother recently attended meetings in their mother's village as part of the traditional burial process. According to him, they met separately with three groups: the Umunna (men of the kindred), Umuada (women of the kindred), and Alurudi (women married into the kindred).

He explained that each group presented its own set of requirements before the burial rites could proceed. Nobis shared one of the lists online, showing numerous food items and refreshments expected to be provided for members of the group.

The post quickly attracted widespread reactions, with many Nigerians questioning why grieving families should face such financial obligations while mourning the loss of a loved one.

Reflecting on the experience, Nobis revealed that his mother died at the age of 71 after a prolonged battle with cancer that had already cost the family millions of naira in medical expenses. Because of her age, he said she was classified under the highest burial category in his community, with the family also expected to provide a cow as part of the traditional rites.

Despite the demands, he said he and his brother have chosen to approach the discussions calmly while engaging community leaders in constructive conversations.

Sharing the reason behind making the experience public, Nobis wrote that he wanted to document the realities of traditional burial practices in his part of Igboland, prepare others who may one day go through a similar process, and encourage conversations about reforming customs that place heavy financial burdens on bereaved families.

"Culture can be modified. It's left to us to challenge these practices as years go by. I'm pretty sure that it definitely will happen," he wrote.

His post has since sparked a broader debate online, with many arguing that some traditional burial practices should be reviewed to reduce the financial and emotional burden on grieving families, while others maintained that cultural customs should be preserved but adapted to reflect present-day economic realities.

CrimeCanadian Court Sentences Nigerian Woman To Six Years In Prison For $755,000 by Savageman247(op): 8:44am On Jun 25
Canadian Court Sentences Nigerian Woman to Six Years in Prison for $755,000 Daycare Fraud

A Canadian court has sentenced Ivon Beatrice Okafor, a Nigerian woman, to six years in federal prison after she was convicted of defrauding four licensed daycare centres of approximately $755,000.

According to court findings, Okafor was found guilty of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme that resulted in significant financial losses for the affected childcare facilities. Authorities said the fraud targeted licensed daycare centres, leading to the misappropriation of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The court, while delivering its judgment, held that the scale of the fraud and its impact on the affected institutions warranted a substantial custodial sentence.

In addition to the six-year prison term, the court is also expected to enforce measures aimed at recovering proceeds linked to the fraudulent activities, in line with applicable laws.

The case has attracted attention both in Canada and among members of the Nigerian community, highlighting ongoing concerns about financial crimes and the importance of accountability regardless of nationality.

Further details on the specific methods used in the scheme and any restitution orders issued by the court are expected to emerge as authorities release additional information.

Fashion/Clothing MarketTwinkles Beauty Offers Best Skincare Products On A Budget by Savageman247(op): 10:59am On Jun 07
Good skincare should never be a luxury reserved for the few. However, for so many people, building a skincare routine that actually works feels overwhelming, either because the options are too many, the prices too high, or the advice too generic to be useful. Walk into any beauty aisle or scroll through any skincare page online and you will be met with an avalanche of products, each one promising transformation.
At Twinkles Beauty, a brand founded in Ghana and now operating across Nigeria with worldwide delivery reaching customers in the US, Canada, the UK, and beyond, the approach has always been different. Twinkles Beauty was built on a clear belief: that every person, regardless of skin tone, skin type, or budget, deserves access to skincare products that were chosen with them in mind. Not expensive for the sake of being expensive. Not watered down for the sake of being cheap. Just good, effective products at prices that make sense for people living real lives.

Skincare Products for Dry Skin
Dry skin craves one thing above everything else: moisture. But not just any moisture. It needs the kind that penetrates and actually stays put through the day and night.
Start with a creamy cleanser. Foaming cleansers can strip the little natural oil your skin already has, so a milk or cream-based cleanser is far kinder. It lifts dirt and impurities without leaving your face feeling tight or uncomfortable.
Layer a hydrating toner. After cleansing, a toner packed with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin prepares your skin to absorb everything that comes next.
Use a rich moisturizer, morning and night. For dry skin, a lightweight lotion often does not cut it. You want a thicker cream that sits on the skin and holds moisture in. Look for ingredients like shea butter, ceramides, or squalane on the label. Apply it while your skin is still slightly damp for maximum absorption.
Add facial oil. A facial oil used at night seals everything underneath and gives dry skin that plump, comfortable feel by morning. A few drops of rosehip, argan, or jojoba oil pressed gently into the skin works beautifully as the last step in your evening routine.
Do not forget SPF. Dry skin is more vulnerable to environmental damage. A moisturizing sunscreen with at least SPF 30 gives protection while doubling as hydration during the day.

Skincare Products for Oily Skin
Oily skin produces more sebum than it needs, and this often leads to enlarged pores, shine by midday, and frequent breakouts. The goal is not to strip the skin dry (that actually makes it produce even more oil) but to balance it.
Use a gel or foaming cleanser. A gentle foaming cleanser removes excess oil, sweat, and buildup without irritating the skin. Cleansing twice a day, morning and evening, makes a visible difference in how your skin feels and looks.
Incorporate a toner with salicylic acid. A toning solution with salicylic acid after cleansing helps to clear out pores and control oiliness throughout the day. It also gently exfoliates, which keeps skin looking fresh and prevents congestion from building up.
Choose a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer. Yes, oily skin still needs moisturizer. Skipping it causes the skin to overcompensate by producing more oil. A gel moisturizer or a water-based lotion hydrates without adding heaviness or greasiness.
Use a clay mask once or twice a week. A clay mask is a brilliant tool for oily skin. It draws out impurities from the pores, absorbs excess sebum, and leaves the skin looking refined and matte. Use it on the oiliest parts of your face, like the T-zone, for best results.
Apply sunscreen daily. Sunscreens formulated for oily or acne-prone skin are lightweight, absorb quickly, and do not block pores. They come in matte or formulas that work perfectly under makeup.

Skincare Products for Dark Skin
Dark skin tones are beautiful in their depth and richness, but they also come with some specific concerns. Hyperpigmentation, dark spots left behind by pimples or injuries, and uneven skin tone are among the most common. The right products make a difference.
Use a gentle cleanser. Harsh cleansers can trigger inflammation, and for dark skin, any inflammation is more likely to leave a dark mark behind. Gentle is always better.

Add a vitamin C serum to your routine. Vitamin C is one of the most well-researched ingredients for brightening skin and fading dark spots over time. A few drops applied after cleansing and before moisturizer, used consistently, gradually evens out the skin tone and gives the complexion a healthy glow.

Use a targeted treatment for hyperpigmentation. Ingredients like niacinamide, and kojic acid are gentle and effective for fading stubborn dark spots without irritating the skin. Apply a serum or spot treatment containing these after cleansing, and give it at least six to eight weeks of consistent use before judging results.

Moisturize generously. Dark skin can appear ashy or dull when it is not properly moisturized. A good moisturizer with glycerin or hyaluronic acid brings back the natural glow and keeps skin looking healthy.
SPF everyday, no exceptions. One of the biggest myths is that dark skin does not need sunscreen. UV exposure worsens hyperpigmentation and dark spots significantly. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, applied daily, protects against further darkening and helps your brightening products work more effectively.

Exfoliate gently, once or twice a week. A mild chemical exfoliant removes dead skin cells and allows your serums and moisturizers to absorb better. Avoid harsh physical scrubs, which can cause micro-tears and lead to more dark spots.

Skincare Products for Fair Skin
Fair skin tends to be more reactive and sensitive to the environment, prone to redness, visible veins, and sunburn. It also shows signs of sun damage more readily, which makes a thoughtful routine all the more important.
Start with a calming, fragrance-free cleanser. Fair skin is often on the sensitive side. Fragrances can cause redness and irritation, so a mild, fragrance-free cleanser is the safest starting point.
Use an alcohol-free toner. Alcohol in toners can be very drying and irritating for fair, sensitive skin.
Apply a serum with antioxidants. Fair skin is particularly vulnerable to free radical damage from sun and pollution. An antioxidant-rich serum, for example one with vitamin C or green tea, worn during the day gives an added layer of protection and keeps the complexion even.
Use a calming moisturizer. Ceramides and niacinamide are particularly good for fair, reactive skin. They strengthen the skin barrier, reduce redness, and keep moisture locked in throughout the day.

Sunscreen is non-negotiable. Fair skin burns faster and shows sun damage more visibly than darker tones. A broad-spectrum SPF 50 applied every morning, and reapplied every two hours in direct sun, is a protective step anyone with fair skin can take.
Use a soothing face mask for redness. A sheet mask or wash-off mask with aloe vera, or oat extract used once a week calms reactive skin.

PoliticsRe: Fake News Alert – Dumo Lulu-briggs Has Not Defeated Blessing Fubara. Ndc Riv by Savageman247(op): 5:28pm On May 30
RE: FAKE NEWS ALERT – DUMO LULU-BRIGGS HAS NOT DEFEATED BLESSING FUBARA. NDC RIVERS PRIMARIES INCONCLUSIVE

The attention of the NDC supporters of Blessing Fubara, Rivers State governorship aspirant under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has been drawn to media reports and online posts claiming: _"Billionaire Businessman Dumo Lulu-Briggs Defeats Gov. Sim Fubara's Brother to Win NDC Governorship Primaries in Rivers State."

We wish to categorically debunk this report as misinformation, false, and misleading.

1. No official result released: The NDC governorship primaries for Rivers State are yet to be concluded. The Nigeria Democratic Congress and INEC have not issued any official declaration of a winner. Any claim of victory by any aspirant, including Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, at this stage is premature, unofficial, and amounts to spreading falsehood.

2. Process still ongoing: Delegates’ verification, collation, and final certification by the NDC National Secretariat and INEC are still in progress. Blessing Fubara remains a bonafide aspirant in the race and is actively participating in the due process as prescribed by the party constitution and the Electoral Act.

3. Commitment to due process: We respect Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs and all NDC members. However, we reject attempts to mislead the public with unverified claims. The NDC stands for transparency, order, and the rule of law. Declaring winners before INEC and the party’s official announcement undermines democracy and the integrity of the primaries.

We urge media houses, bloggers, and the public to disregard the fake report. We call on the NDC National Working Committee, INEC, and security agencies to investigate and sanction peddlers of misinformation ahead of 2027.

Blessing Fubara remains focused, peaceful, and committed to the NDC ideals of service, unity, and progress for Rivers State. We will only speak through official party channels once the process is concluded.

CrimeGunmen Kill Okada Rider, Abduct FUTO Student In Imo by Savageman247(op): 4:11pm On Apr 27
Tension has gripped parts of Imo State following a deadly attack along the Ihiagwa–Amaeze road in Owerri North Local Government Area, where gunmen suspected to be herdsmen reportedly killed a commercial motorcyclist and abducted a female student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
The incident, which occurred on Friday, April 24, 2026, has left residents shaken and heightened fears over worsening insecurity in the area.

According to reports, the motorcyclist, identified simply as Emmanuel, was conveying the student to school when they were ambushed by armed assailants. The attackers allegedly killed the rider on the spot before whisking the student away to an undisclosed location.

A relative of the abducted student, who gave his name as Ibenyenwa, confirmed the incident. He disclosed that the victim is married to his younger brother and described the attack as both painful and alarming. He also noted that the slain motorcyclist was a native of Ihiagwa community.

“She was on her way to school when the incident happened. The rider was killed, and she was taken away. This is the reality we are facing now,” he said.

The attack has triggered widespread concern among residents, many of whom say the once-busy route has increasingly become unsafe.

Reacting to the development, the Nzuko Owere General Assembly strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a disturbing pattern of violence in the Owerri Federal Constituency.

In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Hon. Dan Ikpeazu, and other leaders, the group warned that several roads within the constituency have effectively turned into danger zones.

“The latest incident along the Amaeze–Ihiagwa road, where a commercial motorcyclist was brutally killed and his passenger abducted, is deeply troubling,” the statement read.

“This is one incident too many. Our people can no longer continue to live under constant threat. Rural roads across the constituency have become hotspots for violent attacks, affecting farmers, students, traders, and transport operators.”

The group extended condolences to the family of the slain motorcyclist and the Ihiagwa community, while urging security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the abducted student and restore safety in the area.

They also advised residents to remain vigilant; avoid isolated and poorly maintained roads—especially during late hours—and collaborate with local vigilante groups to improve community security.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident.

PropertiesIntroducing Property Wealth Corporation: From Nigeria To London by Savageman247(op): 2:39pm On Apr 27
Property Wealth Corporation: From Nigeria to London — Why Smart Nigerians Are Investing in UK Property

In Nigeria, wealth has long been defined by owning impressive homes in places like Abuja, Lekki, or Ikoyi. But today, the conversation is shifting.

It’s no longer just about how big your house is — it’s about how well your wealth is protected globally.

A luxury property in Nigeria may offer status and comfort, but it doesn’t always guarantee strong returns, currency protection, or international flexibility. That’s why more high-net-worth Nigerians are turning their attention to the United Kingdom.

Why the UK Stands Out

1. Better Rental Potential

Many high-end properties in Nigeria struggle to deliver strong rental yields after expenses. In contrast, UK properties often provide more stable and predictable income when properly selected.

2. Stronger Currency Advantage

UK property investments are held in pounds sterling, offering protection against naira depreciation and preserving global purchasing power over time.

3. Global Access and Security

Owning property in the UK gives investors more than income — it creates opportunities. From supporting children studying abroad to having a reliable base overseas, it adds flexibility and long-term security.

Many investors wait until there’s pressure — rising costs, currency drops, or relocation needs — before acting. By then, opportunities may be limited.

Smart investors plan ahead. They diversify. They position their wealth across borders.

Navigating the UK property market requires strategy, not guesswork. That’s where it comes in.

With years of experience supporting Nigerian and African investors, the firm provides tailored guidance — from property sourcing to portfolio building — helping clients make informed and profitable decisions.

Owning property in Nigeria shows success.

For investors who want income, currency protection, and global positioning, UK property is no longer optional — it’s strategic.

CrimeTroops Overrun IPOB/ESN Camp In Imo, Recover Suspected Remains Of Slain Soldiers by Savageman247(op): 1:52pm On Apr 25
The Nigerian Army has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing security operations in the South East, dismantling a suspected stronghold of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo State.

The operation, carried out on April 24, 2026, along the Ubaha Orsu axis in Orsu Local Government Area, was executed by troops of the 82 Division in collaboration with other security agencies. It formed part of a coordinated clearance mission targeting criminal hideouts in the region.

According to military sources, the troops acted on credible intelligence pointing to the location of the camp, which was believed to be a base for IPOB/ESN activities. During the advance, security forces reportedly came under heavy fire from armed elements but responded swiftly, repelling multiple ambush attempts and forcing the attackers to retreat.

Following the successful raid, troops conducted a detailed search of the area, leading to the discovery of shallow graves suspected to contain the remains of two soldiers — Master Warrant Officer Linus Musa Audu and Private Gloria Mathew. The personnel were abducted and killed in May 2022 while travelling for their traditional wedding.

The remains recovered from the site have been secured and are expected to undergo forensic examination, including DNA analysis, to confirm their identities. Authorities say efforts are also underway to engage the families of the deceased for proper identification and to facilitate dignified burial arrangements.

Security officials described the discovery as both tragic and significant, noting that it sheds more light on the activities within the camp and the broader operations of armed groups in the region.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring stability across the South East. Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.

CrimeBandits Kill Businessman Muhammad Shuaibu & Daughter After Paying ₦12M Ransom by Savageman247(op): 10:34am On Apr 09
In a shocking incident that has left residents of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State in mourning, bandits have killed prominent Igala-Abuja businessman Muhammad Shuaibu and his 19-year-old daughter, Fatima, even after the family paid the full N12 million ransom demanded by the abductors.

Fatima, until her death, was a student at the University of Abuja. Her father was a well-known trader at the Dei-Dei Modern Market in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

The businessman was abducted on October 3, 2025, alongside his two daughters from their family home in Zhidu community, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State. Armed men had stormed the residence at night, rounding up members of the household before marching Shuaibu and the two girls into the bush.

A family member, who spoke to ReportNaija on condition of anonymity, said the kidnappers later contacted the family and demanded ransom in instalments. The family, in a desperate bid to secure their loved ones’ release, paid N6 million, followed by N4 million, and a final N2 million – bringing the total to N12 million.

“Everything was paid as they demanded,” the source said.

Tragically, the bandits had already killed Fatima about three months earlier, accusing the young student of being “stubborn” even while negotiations were still ongoing.

After the family delivered the last N2 million tranche, the abductors told the person who brought the money to go back home. They claimed the businessman had fallen seriously ill in captivity and later died.

To raise the huge ransom, the family was forced to sell Shuaibu’s shop at Dei-Dei Modern Market, his private car, and a sachet water production machine. The source added that the bandits even instructed them to sell the family house, but there was no buyer at the time.

The double tragedy has sparked fresh concerns over the rising wave of banditry and kidnapping in communities bordering the FCT and Niger State, with many residents calling for stronger security presence in the area.

CelebritiesEstate Of Late Ras Kimono Issues Warning Over Fraudulent Sale Of Property by Savageman247(op): 10:03pm On Apr 06
Estate of Late Ras Kimono Issues Warning Over Fraudulent Sale of Property in Ogun State

RAS KIMONO PROPERTY IS NOT FOR SALE!

The family and authorized representatives of the Estate of the late Ras Kimono have issued a formal warning to the general public regarding a fraudulent property transaction involving land belonging to the deceased.

It has come to the attention of the Estate that one Sybil Amuta, also known as Sybil Onwubuya Ekure, has been falsely presenting herself as the lawful wife of the late Ras Kimono and, under this misrepresentation, has purportedly sold one plot of land from the Estate’s property located in Ota, Ogun State.

The said transaction, reportedly concluded on March 17, 2026, involved the sale of the plot for ₦15,000,000 (Fifteen Million Naira), with payment made into an account bearing the name Sybil Onwubuya Ekure.

The Estate wishes to state unequivocally that:
• Sybil Amuta (aka Sybil Onwubuya Ekure) is the former spouse of the deceased, with their marriage having been legally dissolved in August 2005.
• At the time of his passing, the late Ras Kimono was legally married to Ms. Cynthia Dumas (since 2007).
• The said individual has no legal authority or mandate to act on behalf of the Estate or to dispose of any of its assets.

As such, the purported sale of the property is unauthorized, invalid, and of no legal effect.

It is therefore particularly concerning that this same Sybil who funds were raised for in the United States of America to facilitate her and her children’s attendance for their father’s funeral which never happened after she pocketed the funds and never showed up for her supposed “husband’s” funeral neither has she or any of her children visited the burial site of our late father comes back several years after his demise to lay claim to and dispose off property forming part of the Estate which the family intends to preserve and develop in honour of his memory and legacy.

The Estate further warns that there are indications the said individual may attempt to sell the remaining plot of land, and all prospective buyers, agents, and members of the public are strongly advised to refrain from entering into any transaction with her regarding any property belonging to the Estate.

Any person or entity engaging in such dealings does so at their own risk and may be subject to legal proceedings, including recovery actions and claims for damages.

The Estate remains committed to protecting the legacy and assets of the late Ras Kimono and will pursue all necessary legal remedies against any unauthorized dealings.

US Court Sentences Nigerian-Born Yahoo Boy, Saheed Owolabi To 15-Year Jail Term Over $1.5 Million Wire Fraud

A Nigerian, Saheed Sunday Owolabi, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a $1.5 million wire fraud and money laundering scheme targeting victims in the United States.
On Tuesday, a U.S. federal judge handed down the sentence after Owolabi was found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, according to a statement by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

Investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed that Owolabi disguised himself as a woman to establish online relationships with men in the U.S.—a common tactic known as a romance scam.

Once trust was gained, Owolabi persuaded his victims to wire funds into his personal accounts, which he then laundered to Nigeria. In addition to the $1.5 million, Owolabi and his accomplices used bank accounts provided by victims to launder money from other fraudulent schemes, including stealing more than $120,000 from a single victim in the Eastern District of North Carolina (EDNC).

U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle described Owolabi as a “cheat” and emphasized that his conviction highlights the FBI’s commitment to identifying, disrupting, and dismantling international fraud and money laundering networks targeting victims across the United States.

This case adds to a growing number of Nigerians who have been arrested, tried, and convicted of fraud in the U.S., illustrating the transnational reach of such criminal schemes.

CrimeNigerian Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Brutally Killing A Woman In UK by Savageman247(op): 10:29pm On Mar 27
In a case that has left many in shock, a 24-year-old Nigerian national, Chukwuemeka Ahanonu, has been handed a life sentence by a UK court for the brutal and random murder of a 56-year-old woman.

Ahanonu was found guilty by a jury at Leicester Crown Court on Monday, March 23, 2026, and sentenced the following day to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 21 years and six months before he can be considered for parole.

The tragic incident happened on June 24, 2025, along Infirmary Road in Leicester. According to Leicestershire Police, Ahanonu had been driving dangerously through the city centre while under the influence of cannabis. He swerved across lanes, ran red lights, and even veered towards pedestrians before crashing his car.

Instead of staying at the scene, he fled on foot and launched a vicious attack on Nila Patel, who had just stepped off a bus and was walking home. The assault was so severe that Patel suffered a fractured skull and serious brain trauma. She was rushed to the nearby Leicester Royal Infirmary but sadly passed away two days later.

Security staff from the hospital quickly stepped in to restrain Ahanonu until police arrived. At the time of his arrest, officers found dealer bags of cannabis worth over £3,000 and three iPhones in his car. He had also bitten a female police officer during the arrest and later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and assaulting an emergency worker.

Detective Inspector Emma Matts, the Senior Investigating Officer, described the attack as “a horrific, violent and random attack” on an innocent woman who was simply going about her day.

“Ahanonu was unknown to the victim. She was simply walking home when she was subjected to this brutal assault,” Matts said.

She also praised members of the public and hospital staff who intervened, saying their quick actions helped bring the suspect to justice.

The case has once again sparked conversations within the Nigerian community in the UK about the dangers of drug abuse and reckless behaviour abroad. Many have expressed sadness over the loss of an innocent life and the stain it puts on the image of Nigerians living overseas.

As Ahanonu begins his life behind bars, the family of Nila Patel continues to mourn the sudden loss of a loved one who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

HealthTragedy In Kano As Woman Who Delivered Quintuplets Dies by Savageman247(op): 3:45pm On Mar 26
In a story that has left many residents of Kano State reeling in shock and sorrow, a 32-year-old woman who successfully delivered quintuplets has tragically passed away just hours after giving birth.

Mrs. Zainab Yusuf, a resident of Kumbotso Local Government Area, was rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital on Tuesday evening after experiencing severe labour pains. Doctors performed an emergency caesarean section, and to the amazement of the medical team, she delivered five healthy babies – three boys and two girls.

Eyewitnesses at the hospital described the delivery room as a mixture of joy and tension, with nurses and doctors working round the clock to ensure the safety of both mother and children. The quintuplets, who weighed between 1.2kg and 1.8kg each, were immediately placed in incubators at the hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.

But what should have been a moment of celebration quickly turned into a nightmare. Sources at the hospital confirmed that Zainab began bleeding heavily shortly after the surgery. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, she slipped away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A senior doctor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told ReportNaija: “This is one of the rarest cases we have seen. Quintuplets are extremely uncommon, and the strain on the mother’s body is enormous. We did everything possible, but complications set in too fast.”

Her husband, Malam Ibrahim Yusuf, a commercial motorcyclist and father of two from a previous marriage, was inconsolable when our correspondent reached him at the hospital.

“I don’t know what to say. We prayed for children for years. Now Allah has given us five at once, but He has taken my wife. How will I take care of them? I am begging the government and kind Nigerians to help me. The babies are still in the hospital and I have nothing,” he said, fighting back tears.

Family members who gathered at the hospital described Zainab as a kind and hardworking woman who sold vegetables at the local market to support her family. Her mother, Hajiya Aisha, could barely speak as she wept outside the ward.

“She was strong throughout the pregnancy, even when doctors warned her it was risky. She kept saying she wanted all her babies to survive. Now she is gone,” Hajiya Aisha lamented.

The Kano State Ministry of Health has confirmed the incident and says the five newborns are currently stable but will require intensive care for several weeks. The state government has pledged to cover the medical bills for the babies and provide some support to the family, though details are still being worked out.

Quintuplet births are exceptionally rare in Nigeria, occurring naturally in roughly one in several million pregnancies. Medical experts say multiple births of this nature often come with high risks for the mother, especially in cases where prenatal care is limited.

As news of Zainab’s death spread across Kano, many took to social media to express their condolences and call for better maternal healthcare in the state.

“May Allah grant her Aljannah and give the family strength,” one resident posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The bodies of the quintuplets’ mother have been released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites, which took place this afternoon at her hometown in Kumbotso.

CrimeUS Moves To Revoke Nigerian Man’s Citizenship Over $91m Tax Fraud Scheme by Savageman247(op): 12:04pm On Mar 20
The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has initiated legal proceedings to revoke the citizenship of a Nigerian-born man, Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem, following revelations of a large-scale identity theft and tax fraud operation.

According to authorities, Kazeem was previously convicted in 2017 for his role in a sophisticated scheme that targeted more than 259,000 individuals. Investigators say the operation involved filing thousands of fraudulent tax returns using stolen identities, with an estimated $91 million in attempted losses to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The DOJ alleges that Kazeem engaged in fraudulent activities both before and after obtaining US citizenship, raising questions about the legitimacy of his naturalisation process. Officials claim that proceeds from the scheme were moved across borders, including substantial transfers to Nigeria.

In its filing, the Department of Justice described citizenship obtained through deception as “a privilege never lawfully granted,” emphasizing its commitment to holding individuals accountable for immigration and financial crimes.

The case underscores ongoing efforts by US authorities to crack down on identity theft and tax fraud, particularly schemes involving transnational networks. Legal proceedings to determine the revocation of Kazeem’s citizenship are currently underway.

CrimeKidnappers Rape Woman To Death In Ekiti by Savageman247(op): 11:11pm On Mar 09
Horror in Ekiti as Kidnappers Allegedly Rape Woman to Death, Demand Virgins for Release of Captured Villagers

Residents of several communities in Ekiti State are raising alarm over worsening insecurity after a middle-aged woman was reportedly abducted and raped to death by suspected kidnappers in the Ajoni area.

According to local accounts, the woman was taken by the criminals and later died after being repeatedly assaulted. The attackers allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦1.5 million along with drugs and other items before they would release her corpse.

Community sources say the kidnappers requested substances such as “Canadian Loud,” cocaine, “meth” (crystal meth), as well as cartons of beer as part of the ransom conditions.

Unable to source the drugs mentioned, villagers reportedly came together to raise the cash equivalent instead. Four men from the community volunteered to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers in an attempt to retrieve the woman’s body.

However, the situation reportedly worsened when the four men were seized by the kidnappers during the attempt.

The criminals are said to have sent another message to the community, demanding that two virgin girls be provided in exchange for the release of the captured men, threatening to kill them if the demand was not met.

The development has sparked fear across nearby communities, with residents claiming that armed groups have been operating in the area for years with little intervention.

Locals say at least six towns — Itapaji, Iyemero, Oke-Ako, Irele, Ijowa, and Ipao — are currently experiencing severe security challenges. According to residents, the attackers move freely around the region and have disrupted access to basic services such as water sources and healthcare facilities.

Community members also expressed frustration over what they describe as silence from their political representatives, alleging that their senator and member of the House of Representatives have yet to address the crisis beyond issuing condolence messages.

Some residents warned that the continued attacks could escalate into a wider humanitarian crisis if urgent action is not taken.

The pan-Yoruba socio-political group has also confirmed receiving reports about the incident and called on authorities to respond swiftly to the deteriorating security situation in the affected communities.

Residents are now appealing to the Federal Government and security agencies to urgently intervene and restore safety to the affected towns. Many say the attackers are known to locals and insist that decisive action can be taken if authorities move quickly.

CrimeCourt Hears Chilling Account Of How Augusta’s Body Was Discovered by Savageman247(op): 8:59am On Mar 06
Court Hears Chilling Account of How Augusta’s Body Was Discovered at Killaboi’s Ajah Residence

The ongoing trial involving Benjamin Best, popularly known as Killaboi, continued this week as he appeared in court over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Augusta.

During the proceedings, Augusta’s uncle gave an emotional and detailed account of how the family discovered her body at Killaboi’s residence in Ajah, Lagos, after she had been unreachable for several days.

According to him, the family began to worry when they could not contact Augusta for three days. In their search for answers, they reached out to one of her friends, identified as Oyin, who later accompanied them to Killaboi’s residence.

He explained that they had to go with a soldier because Oyin had informed them that access into the estate required either an invitation or a special entry code. Upon arrival, the soldier spoke with the estate’s security personnel, and one of the guards eventually agreed to escort them to the house.

“When we got to the house, we noticed the gate was slightly open, as if someone had left in a hurry,” he told the court. “We went inside the compound and saw Augusta’s car parked there with the keys placed on the bonnet. We called out her name several times, but there was no response.”

He added that when they attempted to enter the house, the estate security personnel stopped them, insisting that they needed a search warrant before they could proceed any further.

Determined to find out what had happened, Augusta’s uncle said he rushed to a nearby police station and returned with two officers. With their presence, they decided to gain access to the apartment using a ladder.

“They asked me to go up first,” he recounted. “When I got inside, the first thing I saw was a pool of blood spread across the apartment. As I looked further, I saw a swollen body. I immediately recognized it was my niece.”

He told the court that the body was later evacuated from the apartment as investigations began.

The witness also revealed that Oyin, who had been following Killaboi on social media, later came across a post in which he allegedly confessed to killing Augusta after a quarrel between them. The post was reportedly shown to the police, who saved it as part of their investigation before it later circulated widely online.

According to the testimony presented in court, the suspect allegedly attacked Augusta with a knife before fleeing the country.

The court has adjourned the case to April 22 and 23, 2026, for further hearing.

PoliticsDCP Abba Kyari Discharged And Acquitted by Savageman247(op): 12:09pm On Mar 05

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-At3d_cbLI?si=5uASUNB5oVbS3vcb

In a major court victory for the embattled former police chief, the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday discharged and acquitted suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari and his two brothers in the high-profile asset non-declaration case brought by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Justice James Omotosho, in a ruling that lasted several minutes, threw out the entire 23-count charge against Kyari, Mohammed Kyari and Ali Kyari, declaring that the anti-narcotics agency failed woefully to prove its allegations beyond reasonable doubt.

The judge did not mince words, describing the prosecution’s case as nothing short of “persecution.” He held that the burden of proof lay squarely on the NDLEA, a burden the agency could not discharge.

“The defendants are hereby discharged and acquitted,” Justice Omotosho ruled, sending a wave of relief through the defence team.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/408/2022, was filed in 2022 after the NDLEA claimed it uncovered 14 undeclared assets linked to the Kyari family. These included shopping malls, residential estates, a polo ground, farmlands and plots of land scattered across the Federal Capital Territory and Maiduguri in Borno State.

Prosecutors also alleged that over N207 million and €17,598 were found in accounts belonging to the first defendant at Guaranty Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa and Sterling Bank. They accused the trio of disguising ownership of properties and converting funds, offences said to contravene the NDLEA Act and the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.

The defendants, who pleaded not guilty from the onset, had gone through a lengthy trial that saw the NDLEA call 10 witnesses and tender 20 exhibits. After the prosecution closed its case, the defence filed a no-case submission, which the court initially dismissed in October 2025 before ordering them to open their defence.

Kyari himself took the witness box in November 2025, insisting he had declared all his assets and those of his wife as required by law. He maintained that several disputed properties actually belonged to his late father, who had many children, and that some of his accounts had been frozen by the agency.

Final written addresses were adopted in December 2025, and the court had fixed February 26, 2026 for judgment before delivering the verdict today.

Reacting to the outcome, defence counsel Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), who represented Kyari, and Monjok Agom for the brothers, expressed satisfaction with the ruling. No immediate reaction came from the NDLEA, and sources close to the agency were silent on whether an appeal would be filed.

Kyari, once hailed as Nigeria’s top crime fighter and former head of the now-disbanded Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has been on suspension since 2021. He is still facing a separate drug trafficking trial before another judge of the same court.

For now, however, the former “super cop” can breathe a sigh of relief on the asset matter as he walks out of this particular legal storm a free man.
