I am buying these myself while the installer is buying the materials below.


Kindly critique what the installer sent especially the prices, accuracy of quantity needed for materials like the wire and what to add for better installation and protection.

Please don’t ignore, i need honest opinions. I don’t want to be cheated by the installer. My friend trusts me a lot and i don’t want anything to jeopardize our relationship.

My recommendation would be if you can, get a trusted installer to buy the devices/équipement for you.

This way you only have one point of failure.

For example lets say the inverter damages as a result of bad connection.

The installer would blame it on a faulty device you bought. If it was gotten by the installer there would be no excuse.

First, l will say, be careful whose advise you are taking, depending on what "vested interest" such person has, in such project (just offering free advise with no vested interest, installer hoping to be contracted, Solar Items Seller hoping for a potential sale, etc). though there are still some good people here offering free advise.
What i expect is that anyone offering advise, will declare where their interest lies, if any.

Nothing wrong if this is your Project/ your Husband's or Brother's Project and you want us to help Vet the Prices, a lot of people have done so in the past.
But saying you're doing it for a friend Abroad, is in itself, screaming: 'there is Money to be made here' or 'Money Na Water'.
For next time's sake, dont include the Abroad part at all (Maybe your Installer is already crunching his Brain and doing Dollar-to-Naira Exchange rate!

To the quotation:
As a rough guide, go to any Nigerian online Store, (Konga or JiJii, etc ) and do a search for each item, you will see them and you can use their Price there, "as a GUIDE". It gives you an idea of what they should be, though, you could get them for less at the Market.

If you are in Lagos, take a stroll to Arena Market at Oshodi, enter from the C-Line and the first few Shops sell a lot of Solar Materials. They will give you a good Price and you can strike a bargain with the sellers. You cant miss the Market,

Your Quotation is scary on some items!
For example:
- a 200A Change Over is far cheaper than #22,000!
- Mccb breaker for battery 160amps @ 35,000! Kilode?
- Why does he need two DC surge Protector? Are you doing two separate Solar inputs or two Individual Inverters?
-(20) mitre 10mm² cable wire @2200 =#60,000: ar ethese DC Cables? If so, why does he need 20Meters to run just two Batteries to the Inverter?
Will they be so far out (like 5Meters out, which is not a good thing?

- Why does he need 3days to install 20 Solar Panels? It is usually Two days Max (Day 1: Install panels and Run Cables. Day 2: Install Panels and Battery, Configure them and Start the System)

- Which other "Additional Work" is he referring to? Tell him everything involved from Start to Finish (Inverter Charging Battery, using from Solar Panels and supply in the Load), are all involved and be covered by "Installation" Cost.
Dont fall for that line, he would use it to charge you extra.

- since all the Materials will be provided, why does he want to collect 80% Payment before screwing Bolt? What does he need to buy?
Give him 50% Advance payment and 50% Balance on Commission. Generally speaking, service Providers who insist on such lopsided payment arraingement, either don't trust the Client's ability to Pay in-full on Completion of the Work, or are not sure they will do a good Job and therefore dont want the Client to have any 'leash' on his payment (Some can abandon the 20% and take off sef!)

Now, it is a bit difficult to verify the quantity for you because you did not state the extent of the building, viz: location of Solar Panels, relative to location of Inverter ( Panels on Roof of Storey building with Inverter on Ground floor, will need different length/quantity of material, compared to Panels on Roof of Bungalow and directly below Room where Inverter will be). are the Panels going to be on same side of the Roof or will be scattered around, due to the shape of the Roof?
If you shed more light or are able to provide estimated distances/length in above cases, we might be able to help more.

Caveat: I am a DIY Solar Enthusiast, a User with basic knowledge of Solar Installs. I have two of my own self-installs running at 32KW + 8KW. I dont sell Materials and I dont install.
BTW, if perhaps you want a recommendation for a good Installer that had worked for me and i have recommended to othrs, i can recommend him.
I have no vested interest than to ensure you get good vallue for your Money.

I think the number of days to complete the work is dependent on several factor like man power.

The 160A 35k MCCB is a fair price

Just gather enough evidence like pictures, passport stamp etc

I want to appreciate everyone here for the journey, I sporadically read this thread as a guest but I created my account after getting my TCF result. This place kept me sane throughout the process.

A little above weeks after receiving PPR and submitting passport, I got a letter from “IRCC Anti-Fraud” for “In-person convocation” with my original document , the 3 days or so was a blur.

I showed up, the interview was conducted in French and the documents were checked, I received the passports and counterfoil on the spot.

The trigger for this year was a whole lot of diploma mills and mushroom centers across West Africa especially Francophone WA selling TCF results. The people who used a sitter got a PFL with a finding of misrepresentation entered, the people who wrote there still got a PFL on why they wrote in Senegal or Ivory Coast when there’s a center in Lagos, they were also interviewed.

Healthcare workers got called, the PhD holders too. Everyone had to come and prove their mettle.


I give thanks to almighty God, my express entry process is concluded, we have landed Canada.

No Bank Statement was asked, only asked if there’s been a conviction and a previous Canada visit then COPR.

I wish everyone goodluck. Do everything yourself you might be invited to answer questions about your application, no cutting corners either. Peace!

I don't think anything changed. Still same process. Mine was just a bit different. I was tested in both Financial Accounting (my course of study) and IT(my current profession). Basic questions for both though,and sadly I can only remember few questions from the tests.

Accounting -
What are liabilities?
What is a Balance Sheet?
What are trade receivables?
Calculation for Gross Profit margin.
Calculation of Revenue.
A course in school and the lecturer that taught it.

Computer science -
Difference between RAM and storage.
What is an operating system and it functions.
What is an IP address?
Calculation on the space on a system. If 30GB is used out of 140GB, how many space is left.
If a file downloads at 30MB/second how many seconds would it take to download a file of 600MB?

These are the few questions I can remember at the moment.

Interview -
This isn't like the normal interview we know. I wouldn't even call it an interview. The word "interview" makes it so serious. I would just say they ask questions about your journey, documents/credentials, your job experiences, the route you are taking and how you will be accommodated. As you are answering the questions, the VO is typing in the answers. So, not the usually oral interview, and no need to be tensed. Just have knowledge of what I highlighted above.

Finally, Incase you are expecting the VOs to be whites, just like I was, they aren't actually whites. They are Nigerians like us.

Hello Brothers! I was an opportunity card applicant and by God's grace I am in Germany today. I want to give some vital information that will help you when you move to Germany. The 3 most critical things are:

1: German Language. You will need atleaste B1, B2 if you can, without this it will be very difficult for you to get even a part time Job. the only job you can get without language is warehouse larger work. Germany is a very good country, but you need the language and If you know it the sky is your limit. If you come here with B1, you can switch to ausbildung if you are unable to find a suitable job, as most ausbildung places require B1 atleast.

2: ZAB Recorgnition. If you really want to find a job in Germany in your profession when you move, ZaB is very important as employers will ask you for it during the recruitment process. So my advice to you is even if your degree and university are in annabin database, pls also do ZAB, this is important. Yes you can get your visa without ZAB if your degree is in annabin, but you may not be able to get a job without it in Germany. So it is better you do it now.

3. Always plan for your accommodation, because, you must have a registered address on your name in Germany before anyone can employ you. it is called Anmeldung. Germans don't play with it. my advice is as you are moving to Germany ask the person you want to stay with if they can register your anmeldung with their address, if not plan for your own accommodation, as you cannot do anything in Germany without this address anmeldung. infact that is the first thing employers ask you about after work permit.

But by their logic. The lower panel will pull down the higher panel to their level

The 630 will only perform at the 590 level


You can try it and see for yourself.



If you are dealing with parallel connection i would suggest you do

2 jinko 1 zshine in series
Then you can parallel the 2 output

That way you can have the same voltage at the output for your parallel connection.

Not advisable, if you had a 24V System it would have been better

However, tubular battery doesn't do well under loads like that. You would be pushing the battery to death faster that way.

A new solar system was installed for me. It was 4 panels of 590 watts each, Africell. Then a 220 Ah tubular battery, then a 2000 watts D&G hybrid inverter. It has been working perfectly well. Four ceiling fans, a plat screen tv, a 270 watts freezer, about 20 power saver light points, a blender and few other things al working at the same time during the day.
My question, as a newbie, is: can I use my 1000 watts electric cooker on it during the shining hours of the day? Assuming I put off all other loads?

I don't want to be alarmist but the Lagos center is quite famous for the '9' trap in TCF that is. People have had difficulty hearing follow up questions because it is something to have African-Nigerian teachers and it is another thing to have typically White French examiners during the speaking section.

They don't say it enough people not used to dealing with white people get anxiety when doing so on top of the normal examination anxiety and their grading can be unforgiving especially if you struggle with the basics.

The only antidote is practice, practice and practice, by the time you present yourself for the exams you're confident, also learn to listen to rapid-fire French and different regional variations. RFI live should become the soundtrack to your life. When you wake, when you sleep, while brushing your teeth.

In summary, they love to give 9's in speaking and writing if your speaking and writing is unconvincing but when you're good and can hold a proper conversation they've been known to give 17-20's. And all the Nigerians exclamations like ehn eh, uhm ... Is quite unreceptive to them. That's all I can think of.

I remember B1 not too fondly because that's when stuff starts getting real. I did realise something if you don't have a comprehensive understanding of the basics you're going to struggle mightily in B1/B2.

I would go back to A1/A2 read the book from cover to cover, do every task in your cahier. I'd buy a paper French dictionary and a small diary and Le Petit Prince.

Learn your connectors( very essential for TCF speaking and writing) relative pronouns ( qui, que, dont) and the tenses. When you start reading you learn there's a kind of formular to it so you don't have to cram. Most importantly don't give up keep hacking at it. You also might consider a private instructor from among the lecturers at Alliance. Look for the one whose teaching style you appreciate but doesn't accept shoddy slapstick work.

You can also follow youtube channels, ensure you learn sounds before you start grammar
