Harbour Industrial Estate is really filled with industries. tabletman1: |
Look at the google earth. GMC is at the front while the access road to SAB is just by the side. The shape of the land is in such a way that GMC is at the fron while SAB is at the back overlooking the Niger. tabletman1:

I think there is already massive grass/tree planting and further beautification ongoing right now in Onitsha. What Anambra needs right now is an International Cargo/Passenger airport. As a leading economic center after Lagos and PH, Onitsha needs the airport that will service it properly. My happiness is that this airport project will soon see the light of the day because the airport advisory committee has been set up to see to its setting up in 18 months from now. 3dankey:

Gov. Obiano excites Gulder Ultimate Search Contestants at Aguleri Jungle In a move seen as unprecedented since the beginning of the Gulder Ultimate Search reality television challenge, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano visited the fourteen contestants in the 11th edition of the reality television show at their camp inside the historic Ude Ovulu Jungle in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, over the weekend to interact with the contestants and experience first-hand, the GUS challenge. The sight of Governor Obiano elicited excitement among the contestants who burst into Man “o” War song, making him to share memories of his active days as a Boy Scout with them. During the interactive session tagged, “A moment with the Governor” governor Obiano explained his mission. “I came to wish you well in the hope that one of you may eventually find the crown. This adventure is worth having as some who were members of the Boys Scout and Girls Guide would appreciate the exciting experience.” Governor Obiano said that he totally identifies with what the sponsors Gulder and Nigeria Breweries Plc are doing with the youths by putting them through challenging tasks and teaching them leadership and survival strategies as well as team building initiatives. According to Obiano “we are committed to boosting tourism in Anambra state, that is why we started with security to ensure the safety of lives and property so that people can live and go about anytime of the day and with street lights at key places at night. He explained that his administration is sustaining the infrastructural development of the State with a view to creating an enabling and conducive environment for foreigners and Nigerians to explore the abundant tourism potentials in parts of the State. Obiano expressed satisfaction with the arrangement put in place for the ongoing exercise and assured that government will borrow a leaf to get Anambra State youths acquainted with the experience in the jungle and encourage them to participate in similar programmes to acquire endurance and survival skills. The governor pointed out that with the coming of investors into the State, more companies will have the opportunity to sponsor youth empowerment programmes. He commended the sponsors for the lessons embedded in the GUS challenge which is the building of strong and focused persons. He noted that the positioning of the Gulder brand encourages survival and endurance skills which he observes fits into some of the Pillars of Development and enablers of his government especially in commerce and tourism, as well as the promotion of youth empowerment. Governor Obiano thanked them for choosing Aguleri where according to him “the giants lived” and Anambra State for the GUS contest. The GUS adventure is expected to end on 31st October this year while the ultimate winner will be presented with a cash prize of N10 million and an SUV Jeep on November 1, 2014 when the governor promised that he will have the honor of presenting the price to the winner. |

This is the new international market under construction along the express towards Oba/Obosi at the outskirt very close to the Obosi interchange. This market will go a long way in resettling some displaced businessmen in the city..

I think the direction is towards the highlighted part of your comment. With the 5 star facilities as Raddison Blu Onitsha, Agulu Lake Resort and 3 malls that are springing up will go a long way to fine-tune it as a pure tourism destination point. I heard Ogbunike Resort is equally coming on board with a 5 star facility. kettykin: |
See the highlighted part concerning their products. You can also visit their site for elaborate details: www.distell.co.za This details below was as at Dec/Jan this year. I am very sure that construction must have reached advanced stage by now.. 3dankey:Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has performed the ground-breaking of the multi billion naira Distell Bottling Plant at Ozubulu Industrial Estate. The N8.5b facility was another direct foreign investment attracted by Governor Obi’s administration this year bringing to over thirty billion naira the sum of foreign investment in the State this month. The facility is a partnership between the state government and a South African beverage giant, with the state providing ten per cent of the total cost. Governor Obi said the state government was also providing the key infrastructure that will facilitate the venture, including the ongoing N12 billion Ozubulu-Atani road, adding that N6.9 billion had already been paid to the contractor. He explained that when completed the road would effectively link Onitsha Industrial Harbour area and Ozubulu Industrial Estate to further enhance their operations. The Governor disclosed that more multi-national companies were concluding arrangement to invest in the state. He urged the Ozubulu community to give the company all necessary cooperation, warning that government would not tolerate any form of distraction that would slow pace of work on the project. The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Richard Ruston, said they would commence construction as soon as all regulatory issues had been dealt with. According to Mr. Ruston, the products would include cedars and non alcoholic beverages including home grown Nigerian brands. He said the facility would create employment opportunities from the construction to production stages to the indigenes of the state. He explained that the company chose to site the facility in the state because of its investment-friendly climate, Governor Obi's strong leadership and the success of other companies operating in the state Speaking the Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Engr. Patrick Obi said called on the people of the State to be thankful to Governor Peter Obi. He said the project and similar projects in the State were successful because of his commitment and interest. The Senior Special Assistants to the Governor on Investment, Mr. Mark Okoye and that of Project Monitoring, Arc Chinelo Ofoche spoke likewise. Earlier, the Governor led the South-African investors to pay a courtesy visit to the Igwe of Ozubulu, HRH Igwe Nnamdi Oruche, who pledged the support of the town to Governor Obi in his bid to attract a lot of foreign investors to the State. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/another-multi-national-company-invests-n8-5b-in-anambra-state/170059/ |

That Headbridge has been sanitized so much that you cannot find any obstruction around that area anymore. The traffic flows with ease. I think that is why the government has initiated action to level that market and maybe relocate them to Oba outskirt. OreMI22:

Obi Commends Jonathan, Calls for the Establishment of the Ministry of Basic Education. The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has commended President Goodluck Jonathan on the trajectory of his Government, especially its Transformation Agenda that is taken manufacturing and Agriculture seriously. Speaking to the press after the State of Africa Session at the just concluded World Bank 2014 Annual Spring Meeting at Washington, where the World Bank Managing Director, Sri Mulyani Indrawati submitted that within 2 decades of growth, Asian countries have been able to reduce poverty by 40%, while Africa reduced it by mere 8% over the same period, because African neglected manufacturing and Agriculture, Obi said it was about time Nigeria focused more on manufacturing and Agriculture. “Looking at the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan, one will notice that his emphasis now, responding to global requirement, is meanly on encouraging the manufacturing sector and Agriculture, while not neglecting other sectors. We have started to see the result. Once this is continued, the growth in our economy will increasingly lead to job creation and invariably to the reduction in poverty level”, Obi said. As a corollary to the foregoing, Obi also called for more attention to be paid to education. “When you look closely, you will find out that those Asian countries in question invested heavily in education and skill acquisition as well. For African countries to develop, they must build their human resources and engage in practical capacity building,” Obi said. He therefore called for the establishment of the Ministry of Basic Education arguing that Nigeria needed that now to lay proper educational foundation for the children of the State bearing in mind, according to him, that education is the most portent tool for competition in the world. Justifying the call, Obi said: “ Education is demanding and challenging. It is one sector that is very active in terms of caring for the schools, the welfare of the pupils and students, curriculum development, admissions, labour matters, regulation and registration of schools, among others. It shall be better coordinated if the sector has two Ministries, where one is devoted to basic education, which is the terra firma on which subsequent grade of education and teaching are hinged, Obi concluded.

The Onitsha Second Niger Bridge did not affect the facilities, as the bridge is further down south of the River.. From the design they made sure that it does not touch any investment at the Harbor Industrial..
