The last straw that broke the Carmel's back.

When it was time to bury Chike, my boss gathered us together and told us to prepare that we are going to that village to give that simple boy a befitting burial. At first, I thought it was in a dream but I realized that I was seeing clearly. Then I remembered a vision I had a night before...

Behold, I saw the devil standing in-between two covens on a hill to resist the leaders of APC and the devil himself was asking them, what made you this wicked? Who taught you this pattern of wickedness to impose on the people a great menace that you yourself cannot bear? Out of curiosity, I watched as the APC leaders kept quiet as they kept looking at one another in defiance. So, I wanted to interfere but a voice told me,

Thou son of Man, hold your peace for this is a family matter! Let them see to it by themselves if it be meet for a people in the 21st century. So, I kept quiet and the voice that spoke to me comforted me. When I got home, I added two and two together and decided to boycot the burial.

When my boss could not reach me, he sent a text message to my wife telling her to tell me that my downfall had started. I look the msg I laugh! Me wey done dey chop money before the company was formed! On his return, he became a new person.

I don't know what happened. Maybe, he saw abandoned cars of accident victims along the way and decided to respect himself because he realized that man is nothing.

What my wife did that exposed my origin.

There was a particular time things were not moving fine for me. So, I sought the advice of our neighbor and when my wife saw what was happening, she was offended.

Later when I went to talk to her, she excused herself and said that I would be able to explain myself better when I know what I stand to lose! That same evening, I wanted to touch her but she stylishly removed my hand from her wrapper and told me, It's like you don't know your mate? What she did pained me but I was encouraged when I saw a ruthless smile on her face. So, I pressed on and she said I should apologize.

For what?! I flared up.

For peace to reign in this house. She said calmly.

I stood up, looked at her for sometime and paced around the room and said,

I am an Anambra man, I cannot apologize to someone I brought under my roof!

Then, you can pronounce parallelogram to end the argument. She said now slightly achieving her aim.

The boy left in anger because he was clearly seeing my boss' hands nothing tie am! So, when he flared up, my boss told him to calm down so that they could settle amicably but the guy left in anger and banged the door behind! Before he could reach the gate, I called him aside and gave him N5000 to manage.

Later when we heard that the boy had died in his sleep two weeks after, I became disappointed at my boss. Hmm, things are happening o. I sha no wan carry the matter for my head!

What my wife did that amused me.

There was a time that I was having issues with my boss and my wife took sides with him. The problem is that my boss has bad mouth ! He can call you at midnight and tell you to start a new task the next morning. So, I felt he was barging into my marital life. The day I manned up to him and almost removed one of his teeth, my wife heard what was happening and told me not to bite the finger that feeds me. I felt underrated! Apart from the works we do, my boss cannot see me on the road and talk to me anyhow but in the office, he's the tiger while I am always quiet because we humbly applied. It was even my wife that helped me to get the job. So, I felt that she was trying to get some benefits from my salary without telling me. It pained me but I trust her for one thing which is the fact that she always acts for the good interest of the family.

My boss, being the cunning man that he was, didn't stop there! He went on to give me more terrible tasks and I had no one to complain to because everybody was minding his or her own business. If hustle pays, I will rearrange my life!

Whenever I need help and I don't want to say it, I just go to my wife and say,

Immediately I say that, she would understand the kind of Papa that I am talking about. So, she would call her father on phone and say, Papa, we need help. The man will now ask her, who are the "we" and she would say, me and that small boy that I married. The man will now say, Oh' I see! I will rally around to see what I can do about it. So, this template has always worked for me but I believe that she is beginning to see through it. So, I might change but not now!

The thing is, as a man, I have my own burdens, down moments and some memorable activities going on in my home. So, I hope she doesn't see this. Thank you!

It appears that we are a lot better when we think outside of the box because that is where better options are found but the problem with leaving the first is loyalty. We are loyal to friends who weren't there for us, we are loyal to family members who breached the brotherly trust and we are also loyal to the pressing iron which once burnt our cloths because we know how it used to be.

Today, a lot of people talk about the good old days as if there is anything in it. Our parents who lived in those days are still with us and they are yet to tell us that it was a perfect period of time in the Nigerian history! Truth be told, mistakes were made because some of them are still so glaring. When people open their mouths to talk about the past, just know that you will encounter two things which border on either their regrets or their past glories. I have mine too but the good thing is that we are not here to talk about them.

What you're not able to let go of becomes part of it and the outcome becomes your reality. Yes, our parents did well but their days are not our days for the children yet to come would wonder if their testimonies of then would be hinged on our groanings of now. So, whatever the heck you have in mind about the past justifies the fact that it is where it belongs.

In the past, people communicated fluently because they went to school but now lack of jobs after school deters people from continuing in it. So, people can now communicate fearlessly, drastically and sheepishly because the boldness is not there. When some people open their mouth, it seems as if a paranoid state is initiated but we can endure all these because correcting some people is now termed pride. So, we better understand our inner selves first.

To initiate change, you have to take a moment to forget what so many people did and failed then sit down to calculate how to do a new thing! Even though, you are not God, you can achieve something on your own!

Come to think of it, have you wondered why people distance themselves from people who they think are failures? It is because they don't want the disease to spread to them. In the level of status quo, there is no room for improvement! To actually do something, you have to shake up some people, some places and some habits a bit. Right now, the ground is shifting! Stand on the solid one.

A sure way to avoid being a failure is to avoid letting what you think people would say about you to control you because in it, comes fear. So long as you're doing the right thing, listen to your innerself. To do that, you have to think of how to make the impossibility to be possible and that comes in gradual steps! First, think out of the box because their exists other options but be loyal to the hand that fed you when you had no capacity to do so.

Running away from all sentimental conclusions, I want to say that any power that wants to help you will leverage on what you have been doing so far and in addition, you have to change if it doesn't work!

As brief as possible, I want to quickly say that I am not all that bouyant but I am willing to make it by all ways legal. It might not have been necessary to say this outwardly but looking at the way things are going in our society, you wonder who's right and who is actually wrong.

Before when things happen, people seek to know the truth but now when things happen, people just identify with the larger group of people that are making the more noise. In our society, we no longer say the truth because of the fear of being called archaic, outdated, nwa mgbeke and all sorts of things. Everybody wants to identify with the happening class. Now, do you know the implication? People lie to maintain their status.

Coming to the family, I don't know where to start from! Before, when somebody says he or she comes from a good family background, it means the person has home training! Now, who is there to train the children? Even some home training these days are toxic because they are filled with hatred for the other neighbour. Telling the children not to greet the other person simply because you have a little misunderstanding with the person is not good!

Come to think of it, have you wondered why some people can no longer openly and boldly condemn cybercr*me? It is because it gives money and a lot of people will not smile with you if you do so. So, instead of condemning it, they give it sweet names. Let's not touch the prostitution counterpart because it's more than a million dollar industry on it's own.

Why am I saying this? It is because nobody is talking about hardwork again! In fact, hardwork sounds like a curse now. Motivation sounds stupid and even preaching appears to be deceitful because it's easy to make it via shortcut than through the normal process but that shortcut comes with consequences.

The human nature doesn't like suffering but condition imposes it on us! We are not trying to say that you should not do your thing but remember that there is still something called the moral compass upon which the measure of who is either right or wrong is established! So, let us not hide our faces in shame when people speak evil of our humble beginnings. Today might be rough but the way to success is never blocked as you just have to go through it, go around or move over it. What matters is being on the right direction because when evil proceeds of our national assets favor the rich, they say it's grace but when a poor guy becomes something in life, they say he was just lucky!

To become somebody in life, you have to understand who you are, where you come from and where you are going to because what works for others might not work for you if you're not destined to succeed that way. The sweet side of life is impaired when we know that the number of days we have to spend on Earth are starring at us right in the face. That notwithstanding, we were allowed to witness the ups and downs of life so that we can know how to better coin our stories. In this life, people become legends by doing what other people thought should have been left for the computers. And, that is thinking!

Thinking in the right direction shows that I have left where I used to be, who I used to be and what I wanted to be. So, I am saying sorry to my past because we will never meet again and if I have the opportunity, I would tell the children that cybercri'me does not pay but following the dictates of the society, I just have to get busy with my little inputs. To even think that I have time to remember those at the mortuary is amusing but respect to those who died well! In all, we shall meet when the rain drops and the pasture becomes greener. So, be quiet and let nature have its way until you experience the supernatural.

I am of the opinion that if we keep ethnic bigotry, religious arguments and personal egos aside, we would come to a round table and do business irrespective of what we think of our races! Where we are rushing to might not be clear but hurting others while on the way leaves a lot of apologies to be made. So, live by your own dictates but let those dictates be morally upright, considerate and spiritual!

If condition pushes you out of school, rush into business because there won't be much time to complain as to who is to be blamed! So, no matter who you have in mind, try to do something for yourself first to at least, be independent to a large extent. The government officials you are waiting for no longer care about the unemployment rate and some of them even got into power by settling eyeneck. So, I guess our security agencies are doing well to protect them and it might suffice to say that your votes do not count in some cases.

Before you think that I am talking too much, let me save us the embarrassment of spilling more in order not to announce to the world what happens in high places controlled by the powers that be. So, on this level, I can boldly say that I have not bitten more than I can chew.

May you succeed as well as I keep note of my regrets, expectations and exaggerations as to how I managed to make it in life or fail as that in itself is a huge resource for those who care to hear and those who are to come.

Before the unborn generation grows wing enough to fly to my humble abode and ask me, What have you been doing? I would have grown bouyant enough to say that I statistically and elegantly survived buhari's era and many more that are to come. This in itself is an unexpected victory. So, let the rumbling continue.

When we learn to talk truth to power, we might learn that it can turn against us but truth still has to be said. Nigeria is home to 90% of humans' problems on Earth.

When my mind is relaxed, I will tell the world the fury of our ministerial nominees, the inability of some representatives to deliver powerful projects to the communities they represent and the fact that some LGAs chairmen are appointed instead of being elected.

By that time, I would not have time to say yes or no!

I feel like some people are stupid! They don't have sense at all...

Had it been they have sense even if it is small, then I would have been able to do business with them.

One day, I was walking down the street in Enugu, thinking about my life as a jobless Nigerian youth and what the future holds for me, then one lady accosted me! From the way she was dressed, I sensed something fishy.

Immediately she greeted me and asked if she could introduce a business idea to me, I told her that she was free to do so so long as Neolife is not the business in question and she agreed.

Along the line, she told me that she worked with a company that produced fertilizer, wine, Agricultural products and some supplements and I managed to ask her what the name of her company was! Lo and behold, she said it was GNLD. And, I already knew that GNLD stands for Golden Neolife Dynamite or something like that.

At the end, she gave me her phone number and invited me to their training centre! Me wey be Imiano, I simply wasn't interested.

Since then I have been wondering if Africans don't understand simple instructions. To even think she was angry I told her not to introduce Neolife to me made me to believe that she would introduce something better.

Till today, I regret wasting my time listening to her!

I feel like Nigerians are confused !

Honestly speaking, I mean no disrespect but that's how I feel and I fear that how I feel might put me into trouble soon. I just wish it's worth it.

During the last presidential election, everybody was saying, "Let us choose the lesser evil" and I was perturbed because it just confirmed my fears that there could be no good leader in Nigeria!

That is why we keep recycling the same old people that have pinned us down since! If not, why is Nigeria not moving forward?

Okay, that aside many people think that politics is a dirty game. So, no clean person can be found there. If that be the case, then what did we learn in school? How to swim in muddy waters I guess.

If we continue like this, Nigeria might not see the light of the day!

The thing is, we talk too much in our family and the thing is affecting us now because whatever a person fails to handle well and stop, it turns into a habit!

Now, my fear is that such a habit might be transmitted to the next generation through blood and I wouldn't want anyone shouting around me in the future.

My fear minimal but I wouldn't want to blame another person tomorrow!

I feel like it is not everybody that is

For example, there was a time that I was talking with one of my elder sisters in the house and she compared me with Flavour N'abania and I was flabbergasted being that I was on a low key and wouldn't want to have anything to do with publicity then.

I feel like we have a bad blood in

The thing is, I don't want to blame my wife or the children because some people grow up not knowing where what is doing them is coming from! So, my best bet will be to get married to a humble woman that I will enjoy life with. Then we just adopt two kids and train them because we might not have enough money to send a whole battalion to school!

So, it's either the blood they carry come from another source which we can manage or it comes from my wife's side (if they are good) because if my children should carry my own blood, it means that I am finished because with the way we were raised, nobody has the time to act accordingly except on rare occasions because we believe that life is just meant to be lived until God decides its end!

Now, I want to raise my own family but I am scared to the bone marrow! Considering my environment, people talk to elders anyhow and it might have found its way to the blood and if this same blood should be transferred to the next generation through childbirth, then family might not be the golden song we hope to sing.

To keep the family strong and healthy, I am thinking of adopting two children immediately after marriage and look after them with carefulness. So, let me know if I have better options.

Where do we go from here..?

When I was in the Coven, I had everything I wanted but when I left, everything collapsed! Even the house I was hiding from my wife and children, some property agents sold it without my consent. I had to let go because the court case was fierce. Today, I see the man who bought it flexing and taking pictures in the same compound and even posts the photos on Facebook without minding whose ox is gored! Of a truth, we had to relocate to another area because the place we stayed was quiet expensive.

People who used to respect me started gossipping about me but my wife endured!

...Away from past glory.

If I tell you who I used to be, you would wonder what brought me into this mess. My wife used to respect me but I made an unwise financial decision which has affected us adversely. The truth is, she was right about some of the things she said about me but I don't believe that she is in the right position to criticise me being that I gave her a long rope and she also has her life to live!

When she started moving around with Chiege, I warned her but she didn't listen because they were calling each other, Twiny and what confused me the most was that they were not even from the same state! Chiege was one of those girls that grew up in a one room apartment with their parents. So, she was spoilt from the beginning. Her duty was to teach children in the locality bad songs and how to dress seductively. In fact, I once called the estate security unit to arrest her but they said that it was a sign of intimidation and today, my wife has learnt some bad things from her and it's painful because I can't take it anymore as she happened to be a quiet woman with open-mindedness!

I used to be so rich that I could order anything for her online but now, we can hardly eat without calling any of our uncles! God forbid.
