Education / Check Your 2024 JAMB Exam Date, Time And Centre by Schorlashipreg: 8:10am On Mar 22
The management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the dates for the 2024 Computer-Based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Scheduled to run from Friday, April 19th, through Monday, April 29th, 2024, candidates are urged to commence the process of reprinting their Official Exam Slips a few days before their assigned exam date.

These slips will provide essential details such as approved Venues and Time Schedules for their Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Exam.

Candidates will be allocated to any approved CBT centre within their chosen examination town for the venue of the examination. It's strongly recommended that candidates arrive at their designated centres at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time slot.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, emphasized, "The public should be aware that the Board will not accommodate any requests for exam rescheduling from candidates."

The examination will be conducted in three separate sessions to accommodate all candidates, ensuring that not everyone writes the exam on the same day or at the same time. Each exam day will feature three sessions: Morning, afternoon, and evening. Candidates are advised to promptly reprint their JAMB exam slips as soon as the process begins. These reprinted slips will detail the exact date, time, and centre where each candidate will undertake the examination.

Education / President Tinubu Govt. Postpone Student Loan Launching Indefinitely by Schorlashipreg: 9:38am On Mar 13
Barely 48-hours to its kickoff date, the Bola Tinubu-led government has postponed the launch of the Nigerian Students Loan Scheme indefinitely.

Akintunde Sawyer, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), stated this in an interview with AriseTV on Tuesday.

The loan which was formally slated to take off on Thursday, has been postponed again, as there are some corrections that are being made around the launch according to Sawyer.

“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to commit to a specific date. We are sort of waiting to ensure that all the stakeholders are aligned to make sure that nobody is blindsided, then we can actually roll this out in a meaningful, comprehensive, wholesome and sustainable way.”

In June 2023, President Tinubu signed a bill to start a Students Loan Fund (SLF) that would give interest-free loans to Nigerians for higher education.

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, proposed the bill and it was supposed to start between September and October 2023.

Meanwhile, Tinubu said the programme would begin in January 2024, after missing the October deadline.

In January, Yusuf Sununu, Minister of State for Education, confirmed at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, while speaking to reporters, that preparations were completed for the scheme to begin, including the finalisation of the Student Loan Scheme website and the conclusion of technical plans to facilitate the scheme’s kick-off.

President Tinubu assured the leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) when they visited him at the State House that the scheme would begin once its expansion to accommodate extra features, including vocational studies, was done.

The reprinting of JAMB slips typically involves obtaining a copy of your examination slip, which contains crucial information such as your exam date, venue, and time.

Based on inquiries made by candidates participating in the 2024 UTME, there is curiosity regarding the commencement date of the JAMB reprint process for them to ascertain details such as their exam date, time, and venue.

At present, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has not yet disclosed the precise date for candidates to retrieve their exam slips. However, it is anticipated that the printing process will commence approximately one to two weeks before the scheduled exam date.

How to check Your JAMB Exam Date, Time and Venue

Education / FG To Launch Students’ Loan Scheme, Thursday by Schorlashipreg: 7:25am On Mar 11
President Bola Tinubu is set to launch the National Student Loan Programme on Thursday, March 14, 2024, as announced by Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. The initiative, part of President Tinubu's welfare reforms, aims to alleviate financial burdens for Nigerians and young people.

The program was initiated following the signing of the Access to Higher Education Act, 2023, on June 12, 2023, fulfilling a campaign promise to provide interest-free loans for indigent students in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

On February 7, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, Dr Akintunde Sawyerr, exclusively confirmed to our correspondent that the much-awaited scheme would go live on February 21, when President Tinubu launches it at the State House, Abuja.

However, the launch was delayed, with Sawyerr, alongside Presidency sources, explaining that the lag time is to enable the Fund to expand its mandate to include students seeking loans for skills development, as directed by the President.

After receiving briefing from the NELFUND team led by the Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu, on January 22, the President directed the Fund to extend interest-free loans to Nigerian students interested in skill-development programmes.

Tinubu based his decision on the need for the scheme to accommodate those who may not want to pursue a university education, noting that skill acquisition is as essential as obtaining undergraduate and graduate academic qualifications.

This is not an exclusive programme. It is catering to all of our young people. Young Nigerians are gifted in different areas.

“This is not only for those who want to be doctors, lawyers, and accountants. It is also for those who aspire to use their skilled and trained hands to build our nation.

“In accordance with this, I have instructed NELFUND to explore all opportunities to inculcate skill-development programmes because not everybody wants to go through a full university education,” he had said.
