See for every economic situation, there are 2 sets of people . The gainers and the losers. For instance, this pandemic, there are those that these has boosted their business and they have made enormous revenue while for some it has drastically declined their revenue.

So as a smart individual, u choose the side u wanna be. Look out for problems created by the situation, provide a solution and earn revenue.

Now pple will argue u need money to do business....what a lot don't know is the success of a business is not measured or dependent on its size.

U can provide a solution in ur locality and while u may not be rich, u won't starve.

I have seen people with good jobs, resigning and relocating to these countries with better structural system.

My friend's boss in chevron who has worked for some years in the company resigned last year and relocated his family to canada.

Why would he do that if he didn't think the life over their would be easier for him?

Las Las it's all about the system over there..The environment is indeed enabling and would ensure you are comfortable with life as long as you're not Lazy.

We r saying same thing...I said may not necessarily be...doesn't mean it may not be...it is subject to what ur goals are....

Majority move so their kids can get the education over there, job security, enabling system etc.

But there is a level u would achieve here that u can afford to send ur kids there for their education and shuttle. But very few people fall in this category..

For me, if I would pursue relocation it would be just to have a dual citizenship so that there is a fall back plan. The uncertainty in Nigeria is at a frightening height. But the business opportunities here abound.

And the way it can work in the US is because they also have an advanced and smooth operation, unlike in Nigeria, that if you start a credit system, at least for now, corruption will disrupt everything

But the credit system in Nigeria is improving. Our limitations are still ....attitude to loans, attitude to spending.

A businessman would take a loan to finance a project awarded to him , he gets the loan and diverts a substantial amount to areas not related to the project. Project doesn't get finished , employer doesn't pay, loan goes bad.

Banks tighten measures and put more restrictions on loan availment.....this in turn delineate a good amount of those that can do good business but can't meet the criteria.

At the end of the day, the level of loan availment isn't enough to develop the real sector of the economy.

The issues are diverse but hopefully we are slowly trying to get things right ..

Absolutely. My point is that the resources are there, u may choose to ignore it . Not everyone is financially literate and it has nothing to do with education rather exposure to the right people.

But its easy to get professional financial advisors in the western world than u would down here. It is a more established profession than it is here.

That is where my emphasis lie.

Live is easier over there.

Life isn't necessarily easy over there as u put it. They just have an enabling system. It still requires a lot of hardwork and effort to make ends meet. But due to an efficient government structure, social infrastructures and welfare systems ensures u can at least feed, have power, good water and a roof over ur head to sleep. The also have an advanced financial system that provides buffer to aquire basic household assets.

This is also available here only that it is available to those in the corporate sector. And not just any type, the blue chip and multi-national companies or some select government organizations. So if you work in these sort of companies here, u can get mortgage, vehicle loans , asset finance, good medical insurance scheme etc.

The sad thing is that the population in this category may not be more than 10-20% of the economy. (Data not verified just an individual estimation so its subject to variation).

That is why if u have a very good job here, relocation may not necessarily be the best thing for u. Its all still subjective to what ur life goals are.

I never disputed that. But his claims on how the financial industry works and the mortgage system is very incorrect.

That mortgages are prevalent in the US or Western Countries in general is not because of anti-money laundering laws. It is due to an advanced financial system where use of cash for asset acquisition has been greatly reduced. This is because that money could go into better use and create more money rather than just making payments. It also has created a sound means to develop the real sector of the economy.

I am speaking from an informed position. So when I see someone just speak on the financial industry based on assumed facts , I would try to throw more light. We learn everyday.

Those with good paying jobs that can afford to take a mortgage. If u approach the bank , you will get financial advisory. They have an advanced financial system. Not referring to the regular citizen that does 2 to 3 meaner jobs to make ends meet.
