PhonesAndroid Vs Ios Who Has The Highest Users And Market Shares? by scubed(op): 10:43am On Nov 18, 2013
Time states that this is an impossible question to answer definitively. “Android if you’re talking about market share; iOS if you mean financial success. So far, this is a strikingly different market than the PC business back in the 1990s, when market share translated directly into financial success,” according to Time Tech.
Who wins is a different question from who is going to run the market share? While Apple’s iOS earns more revenue from app downloads than Android’s Google Play marketplace, and Android currently has more users than IOS, it will be difficult to determine how the tides will turn in the future.

PhonesFootball Manager 2013 Was Illegally Downloaded By Millions Of People by scubed(op): 10:27am On Nov 18, 2013
Miles Jacobson reveals that 10.1 million people have illegally downloaded Football Manager in 2013 after its copy protection was cracked on 12th of May. Whilst the copy protection was circumvented by Italian warez release group CPY, they did not disable the phone home feature of the programme, meaning that Sports Interactive could track the IP addresses of those using Football Manager illegally.
Jacobson discloses that each illegal download does not equal a lost sale, the drop in activations directly after the release of the crack means that he estimates the company lost 176,000 sales, 1.74% of illegal downloads, and representing lost revenues of $3.7million.
This disclosure has discredited researches carried out by the ESA, which claimed that 200 games were being illegaly downloaded by 10 million people each month.
Insights on the country with the highest downloaders were given; China had the highest number with 3.2 million people, While Turkey has 1.05million, and Portugal 781,785. Italy, the home country of the CPY group had 547,000 illegal downloaders, as there was even more from the Vatician.

The latest in what has become a long and costly legal campaign between Apple and Samsung according to a Reuters report from the courthouse; Apple Attorney Harold McElhinny estimated that it is owed roughly $380 million for damages while Samsung Attorney Bill Price argued that it should have to pay the Cupertino Behemoth just #52 million.
The figures come on top of the $600 million Samsung already has to pay after Judge Lucy Koh vacated about $450 million of the original award. A new jury of eight people has been assembled to determine how much more Samsung owes Apple for infringing on five patents related to the iPhone’s design and functionality.

PhonesSamsung Is Set To Rule Africa by scubed(op): 2:17pm On Nov 14, 2013
Samsung plans to increase the percent of all the Smartphones in Africa by 50%. Last year the number of smartphones worldwide topped one billion, and growth in emerging markets such as China, India and Africa, is expected to push the number of mobiles in usage to 10 billion by 2016. GSMA predicts that smartphones will make up 20 percent of the Africa market by 2017 as devices continue to fall in price.

Presently, the future looks bright for Samsung in Africa, after the decline of Blackberry’s popularity; many people have willingly switched to other brands. There is no doubt that Africa presently appears to be a good market for Samsung and does not seem to be unfriendly to the South Korean company in the nearest future. We must also not forget that Africa has a young population of people that are getting increasingly tech savvy and urbanized.

Science/TechnologyWindows Store Makes A Flattery Impression by scubed(op): 1:19pm On Nov 13, 2013
Indeed Microsoft has come a long way in the Tech atmosphere and till dates still maintain her stand, and kudos must be given to the giant company for keeping Its bearing right amidst the present competition; a healthy and acceptable one.
Windows Store was launched almost one year ago, along with Windows 8. Windows Store allows users to download apps developed on modern UI on their windows 8/Windows 8.1 machines. Windows Store acquired 1.7 million downloads daily, both free and paid, in October (around 51.2 million applications totally). This is a 38.56% increase in numbers since June. This figure is flattering, however, a little poor when compared to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Apple, Samsung to name a few are all launching lovely and breathtaking devices, and there is no surprise as Google joins the party. The year is running to an end, and perhaps these companies think this is the best time to steal a lot of money from people’s purses. Well, they are not scared doing that, because naturally people’s want are insatiable and a lot of people do not mind spending their money on these lovely devices as much as it is worth the price.

LiteratureGoogle Doodle Celebrates Hermann Rorschach by scubed(op): 11:45am On Nov 08, 2013
May I begin by reminding us that there’s no good work that goes unrewarded. I guess icons in the world had to be taken away to the great beyond towards the end of the year so they can be celebrated alongside the end of the year’s celebration on their days of remembrance. Google has thought it wise to celebrate these rare gems in their doodle as a way of showing appreciation for all their indelible marks left behind. Today’s Google doodle is celebrating Swiss Psychiatrist; Hermann Rorschach’s 129th birthday using his inkblot test as an interactive game that you can share with friends on Social Media.
Hermann Rorschach was a Swiss Freudian Psychiatrist born on the 8th of November 1884 and died 1st of April 1922. Hermann Rorschach was born in Zurich and spent his childhood and youth in Schaffhausen in Northern Switzerland. He was also a Psychoanalyst best known for developing a projective test known as the Rorschach Inkblot Test. Due to his love and passion for Klecksography ( the making of fanciful inkblot pictures) his school friends called him Klecks or Inkblot. However, Rorschach went on to make inkblots his life’s work.
The Rorschach inkblot test which is the Rorschach Technique or simply the inkblot test is a psychological test in which subjects’ perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms or both. Some Psychologists use this test to examine a person’s personality characteristics and emotional functioning. It has been employed to detect underlying thought disorder especially in cases where patients are reluctant to describe their thinking processes openly. The test is named after its creator, Swiss Psychologist Hermann Rorschach.
In the 1960s, the Rorschach was the most widely used projective test. In a national survey in the U.S, the Rorschach was ranked eighth among psychological tests used in outpatient mental health facilities. It is the second most widely used test by members of the Society for Personality Assessment and it is requested by psychiatrists in 25% of forensic assessment cases.

PhonesMotorola Introduces Build Your Phone Era. by scubed(op): 6:51pm On Nov 07, 2013
Thanks to Google-owned phone firm, Motorola. Motorola has announced a new project to allow users customize their Smartphone components. The project, project Ara allows users to acquire a basic phone structure and add modules such as keyboard, battery, or other sensors. Some experts are still uncertain on how big a shake-up for the mobile phone industry the customizable handsets would represent.
The project is expected to consist of an endoskeleton according to Motorola, the frame that will hold all the modules in place. “A module can be anything from a new application processor to a new display or keyboard, an extra battery, a pulse oximeter – or something not yet thought of,” the firm said. Motorola also said that it had been working on the project for more than a year.

“We want to do for hardware what the android platform has done for software – create a vibrant, third-party developer ecosystem,” the firm Motorola said.

Motorola says that this project would give many people the opportunity to decide how their phones look like, where and what is made of, how much it costs and how long it can be kept.

We need to remember that Google purchased Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion back in 2011.
Motorola has also announced it will be working with Dave Hakkens on this project. Dave Hakkens a Dutch designer who previously said he was working on a similar concept – a modular phone known as Phonebloks. Hakkens said the idea behind Phonebloks would be that any phone would become extremely upgrade-able, and any repair work that needed doing would become much easier and potentially cheaper as well.

Motorola plans to begin inviting developers to create modules in a few months’ time with a module developer’s kit launching soon afterwards.
Some have written this idea off, some even see it as another gimmick, and some even suggest it is a just a good idea on paper but it is not workable. Certainly, time will address these doubts and questions. It would be interesting to see how this idea would change the mobile phone industry if it records success. And recording success on this project would be cheering news for Motorola, and a major boost.

Science/TechnologyRaymond Loewy Celebrated In A Google Doodle by scubed(op): 6:40pm On Nov 07, 2013
Raymond Loewy Celebrated in Google DoodleStill in the spirit of celebration; we are celebrating an Icon, a Gem, One who created something which some big named Companies are thriving with, a Legacy. I’m talking about Raymond Loewy.

Everyone is born into this world but some passed through this world without creating an impact and so they left unnoticed. Still some came into this world with footprints leading to crisis and mishap, Other people came into this world bearing the name their parents gave to them on their day of christening and left without adding a feather to their Cap but a handful came into this world and have left with several colorful feathers added to their Cap. Amongst these people is Raymond Loewy.

Most of you might not know him or may not have heard about him but I bet you have seen, used and even worked with his footprint.
Raymond Loewy was nicknamed the “father of industrial design” because of his creative nature. Loewy was responsible for designing the famous Coca-Cola bottle, Lucky Strike Cigarette Packets and Logos for Exxon and Shell. He also created product designs for everything from Refrigerators to Cars, vending machines and spacecraft. Loewy’s slanderised design for an S1 steam locomotive that saw service in the eastern US forms the basis of the Google doodle.

Raymond Loewy was born in France on November 5, 1893. He emigrated to the US in 1919 after completing his engineering studies at the Universite de Paris and Ecole de Laneau. After working in New York as a Shop Window Decorator for Saks Fith Avenue and Macy’s, he drew for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair before moving into industrial design towards the end of the 1920s. Along with designing locomotives for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, he was responsible for vehicles such as the Hupmobile (1934) for the Hupp Motor Company and the Raymond Loewy Celebrated in Google DoodleStreamlined Greyhound Buses. He retired at the age of 87 in 1980 and returned to France where he died at his Monte Carlo residence in 1986 at the age of 92.

He once said: “The average person, leading a normal life, whether in the country, a village, a city or a metropolis is bound to be in daily contact with some of the things, services or structures in which Raymond Loewy Associates was a party during the design or planning stage”.
Today marks the 120th birthday of the “father of industrial design” therefore Google doodle sees the distinctive shroud design for K4s Pacific #3768 as the basis for the logo design – using the wheels of the train to form the word Google.

WebmastersSocial Media Know How by scubed(op): 2:25pm On May 14, 2013
You may have heard that content is king but the truth is that informational content is king. Most websites have very little informational content on them, preferring instead to focus on driving a conversion rather than retaining traffic. To get on top of search engine rankings, you require that good old optimised content. Here are 10 steps to guide you;

1. Write great content: There is a saying that you should write for people first and search engines second. This means you should be creating really quality pieces that are useful and engaging for humans because the search engines will recognize your efforts. Write contents people want to share on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social networks. This will generate additional back links and extra traffic.

2. Get links from trusted websites to your pages: All businesses have suppliers whether they be Solicitors, Raw material providers and what have you. All these Suppliers or clients are bound to have a website, you need to contact them to arrange a link exchange: encourage them to put up a ‘client’ page on their site with a link to your website.

3. Use Visual Content: Pictures dress up your pages event though search engines do not really know how to deal with them unless you complete all the details like title, caption, alternate text, description e.t.c. don’t use this as an opportunity to cram extra few keywords onto the page because it will likely have a negative impact on your search engine ranking. 4. Diversify anchor text links: There need to be some variations in the text when one creates those blue-highlighted anchor text links. The links on the page are what the search engine spiders follow in determining your website structure. The text used are most likely considered in figuring out what a page is all about. You may also set some key phrases in bold letters. That tells the spiders which terms you’re trying to emphasize.

5. Note Word Count: Though it is a rule that online readers do not read, that doesn’t mean one has to deprive the online users of good, meaty content. Stick to at least 250 words a page. SEOs know that writing down for an appropriate length of text means being more than able to include more related terms for the target keywords.

6. Do not duplicate content: Avoid using contents that have been used on other websites, make your contents unique.

7. Title Tags: Get important keywords and try to limit the overall length of your page title. Well constructed title tags contain the main keyword for the page. It should contain less than 65 characters with no stop words such as; a, if, the, and, an, to e.t.c. your title tag should be limited to the use of alphanumeric characters, hyphens and commas.

8. Header Tags: It is important to look at the header tags on your site – h1, h2, h3, h4 and so on. H1 is the most significant. Make sure you have the most important keywords labelled as h1 tag. This will help you with ranking for your site, especially if someone is searching for that particular keyword or phrase.

9. Page Content: You definitely want to put your keywords in the contents somewhere but the object though is to make sure the content is very well written for visitors to your website. You want to insert the keywords for that page only where it makes sense. Page content should have between 300 and 700 words descriptive content that contains the keywords specified in the keywords meta tag for the page. You also want to try to optimize your URLs. Make sure to include important keywords in the URL.

10. Meta Tags: These are pieces of code behind the scene. The code should look something like this: it should be placed directly under the title tag code. <title> Your site title </title> <meta name=”description” content=”your site description” <meta name=”keywords” content=”keyword1, keyword2, keyword3” Your keywords meta tag should contain between 5-10 keywords or keywords phrases that are also found in page content. Also one more important meta tag is description tag that contains information about the page’s content so you can persuade search engine users to visit your web site. It should have 15-160 characters, remember not to stuff with keywords. With these tips you sure will have the best on your website
