Death toll from the collapsed building in Synagogue Church of All Nations, Ikotun, Lagos, on Sunday rose to 41, while it’s also being gathered that the people trapped in the building and had been rescued have risen to 130 with different kinds of injury.


The public relations officer of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

A six-storey building guest house under construction belonging to the Synagogue Church of All Nations collapsed on Friday.

Farinloye confirmed that 80 percent of people rescued from the collapsed building were women.

He said that two female children, aged four and eight years, were among those rescued from the collapsed building.

According to him, the continued rescue exercise has increased the number of dead persons from 17 to 40.

On Friday after the collapse, members of the church were said to have at first prevented emergency officials from participating in the rescue, making it difficult to establish a toll for the dead and injured. But NEMA were allowed in on Saturday.

“We’re still working at the site,” Farinloye had said, adding he expected the clear-up would extend into today.

There was no immediate explanation for the collapse from the government.

Emergency services officials said the lower three floors of the building located in the large church compound had already been operating as a guest house, and it appeared construction work was underway to add three more floors.

Reddit and 4chan users alleged Hamade was the culprit after a screenshot posted online appeared to show a series of names connected with a web development company in Georgia.

In a development, Amateur internet sleuths used the names to discover Southern Digital Media, a web hosting company in Atlanta. While some internet users initially suspected the company’s 15-year-old intern as the hacker, suspicion quickly turned to server administrator Hamade.

Hamade speaking to MailOnline, denied Reddit’s claims, saying, “I only reposted one thing that was posted elsewhere and stupidly had my network folders visible.”

Dr Stella Adedavoh must be commended even after death for her bravery; it must be remembered that she made necessary steps to alerting the necessary agency in Lagos after suspecting the Liberian, Patrick Sawyer was an Ebola patient.

Dr Adedavoh had been in coma for nearly a week as a result of the virus. Dr Adedavoh is a medical doctor at FirstConsultant Hospital, Lagos.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, confirmed the death of the brave doctor, Dr Adedavoh to newsmen last night.

How this news would affect the morale of other doctors and medical team combating would be crucial, as it is important that the government makes necessary steps in motivating these medical personnel.

According to a recent concluded poll in Great Britain, it was discovered that couples that sleep naked at homes have longer and closer relationship to those that do not. The best way to keep a marriage happy is to sleep in the nude, a study suggests.

Those who wear nothing in bed are more content in their relationships than those who cover up, according to a poll.

Of 1,004 Britons, 57 per cent of those who sleep in the nude said they were happy in their relationships, compared with 48 per cent of those in pyjamas, 43 per cent of nightie wearers and 38 per cent of those in onesies.

‘But one factor which is often overlooked is the bedroom environment.

‘Bedding can feel extremely soft against the skin, encouraging openness and intimacy between couples and ultimately increasing happiness.’

The research also revealed our partner’s bedroom manners affect our happiness in relationships.

Half of us are bothered by people eating in bed, 59 per cent of us detest dirty washing on the floor and 23 per cent hate it when their partner wears socks in bed.

1. Up and at ‘em (3-4hrs)

Writing your post is a bloggers main task of the day. It doesn’t mean the other tasks are less important, but without your post what else is there. Don’t be distracted by the goings on at the water cooler or mundane internet surfing of the web. I’ve been caught in this trap by deciding to read the news first, because it may give me great ideas. DO NOT DO THIS

When it comes to daily routines it is advisable to get all your difficult tasks done nice and early when you’re still full of energy and dare I say, ‘fresh’. Allow 3-4hrs from research to writing and editing your blog post. As time goes on and you become more experienced you may not need so much time. I often need my 3 hours. But my target is not to shorten the time but write the best post I can. So however long it takes you just get it done.



It’s okay to take a couple of days to write an article just as long as you are consistent. Due to the fact that I run a small business I can’t afford to spend 3 hours every day writing a post because I have other responsibilities. You can decide to spend for at least an hour a day but stick to it. Work on it at lunch break or as soon as you get off work but don’t miss that hour. After all, your aim is to get into a routine.

2. Increasing traffic strategies (about 1 hour)

Get it while it’s hot. This is my mentality after writing a post and I want to share it immediately. There are so many social sites out there. Use them all and use them wisely. You can let everyone know about your most recent blog post without having to go to every single social media site. Use free automated services that allow you to send one post to several different social sites. Services like SocialOomph, or HootSuite.

After going on a social rampage like a bunny on a sugar fix I also try any other avenue I can think of to increase traffic. This can become very addictive (as it allows you to be on FaceBook and twitter for work reasons) so again remember ‘routine’. You can always come back in your spare time.

3. Web site improvement (1 hour)

This is also another part I enjoy doing. Devising ways of improving my web sites. Anything I feel will make it more marketable and help potential clients find me. Also regular changes in your site helps the search engines take you more seriously. Creating promotional campaigns or discount offers or giveaways could be useful tricks. I really love doing these tasks as it lets my creative side run free.

4. Cleaning and dusting. (1-2 hours into free time)

For me this is like after an exam, you’ve answered all the questions and you know you’ve done very well with plenty of time to spare. But for the gold star you go back to the beginning and start embellishing the answers. All the important work is done, but you want to make sure you have left no stone on turned.

If like me you work on multiple projects at once then make sure you spread these tasks throughout a couple of days. Come up with achievable targets. Ones you can reach but also one that will push you. Like me I have chosen Mondays and Wednesday as my post writing day which means that’s all I do writing for as many as 5 different site.

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are the first donors under the age of 30 that have made the nation’s largest philanthropic gift after giving 18m shares of Facebook stock to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation in America. The gift was valued at more than $990m.

2013 largest donation came from the founder and CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. They announced last month (December) that they had given 18m shares of Facebook stock to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

The donation is “by far the largest gift in our history,” Emmett Carson, CEO of the Mountain View-based foundation, said at the time. Carson declined to say how the money will be used, but added: “We believe this gift will immensely improve the lives of people here and elsewhere.”

“Giving Pledge” campaign is a campaign pioneer by billionaires Bill Gates and Warren Buffet; wealthy individuals like Bill Gates vow to give at least half of their assets to philanthropy over the course of their lives. Mark Zuckrberg is a supporter of this program as he has signed on three years ago to the “Giving Pledge” campaign.

Blackberry’s trend of laying off its employees seems to know no superstar or halt either, as Blackberry has ended its relationship with the popular musician, Alicia Keys.

Ironically, she was spotted tweeting via an iPhone days before the announcement- and maybe even once again a few days after- She claims her phone was hacked, but her argument tends to be discarded by many, even Blackberry. Obviously, the onus also lies on the celebrity to deliver compelling product ideas – not to mention brand loyalty.

BlackBerry and Alicia Keys have completed our year-long collaboration,” the company said in a statement Thursday. “We thank Alicia for her many contributions including providing creative direction for the BlackBerry Keep Moving Project which attracted more than 40 million visits, advocating for women in STEM and launching the BlackBerry Scholars Program. We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual.”

The failed launch of the Blackberry z10, a supposed competitor of the iPhone is not surprising to many as the fall of Blackberry looks inevitable.



Earlier, Blackberry announced a $4.4 billion loss in its last quarter. Obviously, it takes no analyst or thinker to make the public know that Blackberry’s dismissal of its staff is as a result of its failure in the market. Recently, Blackberry has dismissed about 40 percent of its employees

It is obvious that Blackberry’s house is not in order and it is trying to clean it house and get itself popular among consumers once more, as some of its top executives have been dismissed recently. Frank Boulben, former chief marketing officer and Kristian Tear were among Blackberry top executives that were given marching orders. It will be important to remember that the then CEO of Blackberry, Thorsten Heins, who announced Alicia Key’s appointment on stage at a Blackberry z10 a year ago stepped down.

How much longer it will take Blackberry to go into extinction is an answer everyone seems to know about; 2013 was a very bad year for Blackberry in the market, as it loses its strong hold and popularity. And the Blackberry z10 that was launched to build the company’s popularity is a flop.

After working in Social media for so many years I have come to realise that there are so many unwritten rules of timing, composition and content. Here are some of my best practices which I teach to my staff and expect them to follow and imbibe. However it must be noted that this are tricks and strategies that work for me and may not have the desired outcome for your brand. Here are some of my best practices foe social media

Post frequently. This can be a double edged sword. Post too often and members of your community get bore or at worst stop following your brand. The right thing to do is to find a healthy balance with only comes from practice and knowledge of your community.

Links. Link your posts to sources of information. Link to the source of your information, analysis, assistance, or even to your web site or blog if the aim is to increase traffic to that site. The goals are threefold: First, enable readers to learn more about the subject; second, send traffic to the source as an act of gratitude; third, develop the habit of citing sources.

Be brief. With Twitter allowing you only 140 characters, it means you to be succinct. Having a post more the 3 sentences long for Google+ and Facebook may just defeat the purpose.

Post publicly. Don’t hide your good content. You need exposure and awareness as far and wide as possible, so let everyone read your posts. The more platforms you share on the more exposure you get.

Cheat. Scan the compilations of stories that are already hot and post them too. Google+ has a collection of HOT topics which can be share and posted

Give credit. When you share something from another source or author it is best and good practice to acknowledge them by mentioning their name. This shows that you have class and that you know how the game works. ABC (“Always Be Crediting”).

Include a photo or video. When you become a social media guru you soon realise that just text posts don’t cut it in the highly visual world of social media. Every post should contain eye candy in order to attract attention. Be sure to give credit to the source of the photo or video if it’s not yours.

Use the active voice. “Apple announced a new iPhone today” is more powerful than “A new iPhone was announced by Apple today.” Brevity and the active voice are two sides of the same coin.

Add a hashtag. Hashtags enable people to find your posts on any topic on platforms such as Google+ and Twitter. For example, sharing posts on my favourite football team Arsenal adding the #AFC hashtag enables me to share my post with other Arsenal fan and indeed be a part of their conversation.

Share when your audience is awake. This sounds simple, but share your posts when your target audience is awake. As we are based in African we like to post and share throughout the day, but also schedule our post for the American market. So they can read our stories while we're in bed.

Repeat your tweets. I repeat my tweets four times, eight hours apart. I can prove that this increases click-throughs by a factor of four. The assumption that everyone sees your posts no matter what time you share them is wrong. I don’t repeat posts on Google+ or Facebook because this practice isn't accepted there.
