PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye: "Mr. When I Was In The House" by Seamah: 12:27pm On Jul 30, 2012
Delafruita: the fact that the man drives a BMW doesnt dent his character.the records lf his stewardship in the house can be perused.honestly,i like dino.
he never got along with bankole while in the house.
it was dino that exposed the 4billion naira peugeot scam.
it was dino that exposed the 14billion naira loan bankole took on behalf of the house.
all this was while he was still in the house.he was suspended along with 6 others without pay.the others recanted, had their suspensions lifted and got their withheld allowances but dino didnot.he rather went to court.
bankole had to instruct the security men at the NASS to keep a special eye on dino to ensure he didnt gain access to his office.
all through the drama, dino could have recanted and joined but he didnt.even when he was denied the peedeepee ticket,he still maintained his stance.
having spent 8years in the house earning a salary he didnt fix himself, its understandable that he owns a good house and drives a good car.that doesnt in anyway taint his integrity
I know u are his brother, thats why you see nothing wrong with his display of stolen wealth. How many Nigerians that have worked honestly for 20yrs can afford to buy a 14 million Naira car and own a house in WUSE? And top it up with a porche worth over 20 million naira. What was his income before he joined the house of rep. Thief. Now he is using unemployed youths to maintain his political relevance and u see nothing wrong with that? Well done

Two of the figurines American officials formally returned to the Nigerian government on Thursday. These roughly 2,000-year-old sculptures are the work of the Nok culture and were stolen from the Nigerian national museum.

NEW YORK — A handful of roughly 2,000-year-old figurines began a journey back home to Nigeria Thursday after being seized at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City.
At a repatriation ceremony held at Homeland Security Investigation offices on the west side of Manhattan, Nigeria's Consul General Habib Baba Habu took legal possession of the terracotta sculptures, which he said had been stolen from the country's national museum.
Habu called today a special day. "It is the day that America has extended a gift of friendship that we will never forget," he said.

On display for the ceremony were seven pieces of figurines, which resembled bits of cylindrical gingerbread men thanks to the orange hue of the terracotta.
Ancient artifacts
On display for the ceremony were seven pieces of figurines, which resembled bits of cylindrical gingerbread men thanks to the orange hue of the terracotta. The two best preserved pieces, a head and torso, and a pair of legs standing on a pedestal, appeared to have once belonged to a single figure.
All are the work of the Nok culture, which existed within what would become Nigeria from more than 2,000 years ago, before disappearing in the early centuries of the first millennium. (Timeframes for their existence vary.) [Image Gallery: Ancient Rock Art of Sudan]
Each of the six terracotta heads bore a distinctive face, which is typical of Nok sculpture, Habu said, explaining that the ancient artisans drew from individual people in normal life, depicting them riding horses or donkeys, for example, or with farm tools.
Nok artisans were prolific, many similar figurines have left Nigeria, Habu said: "Many of them are at museums all over the world, some were taken out legally."
Nigeria has laws that control the export of Nok pieces; however, the sculptures have flooded out of the country. In the 1990s, so many reached the European art market that the prices dropped sharply, according to a New York Times article in 2000.

A modern journey
During today's ceremony, two ornate, hardwood boxes sat near the figures. The statues had been packed within these boxes while being shipped as air cargo into the United States.
During a routine inspection in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris more than a year ago, French customs officers spotted the statues. Although they could not seize them, they notified Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in New York, the items' destination. American officials met the suspicious cargo when it arrived, officials said.
An investigation has since verified that these sculptures were cultural artifacts, not handy crafts and personal effects as described on customs' documents. That investigation is ongoing, and officials declined to give details on who they believed was responsible for attempting to smuggle the items into the United States.
"Often times brokers here in the United States receive a large number of shipments for a large number of people then distribute them. Often times, they have very little to do with the actual shipment," said James Hayes, special agent in charge of HSI New York.
This appears to be the case in this instance, said Robert Perez, director of CBP's New York Field Operations.

It's not yet clear who was responsible for removing them from Nigeria.
"From what we know the items were stolen from the national museum in Nigeria," Habu said. "There is no report of the items being stolen so now the director-general of the Nigerian museum and antiquities is now being subjected to an investigation." [Faux Real: A Gallery of Art Forgeries]
Returning home
American officials plan to also return three additional items — two more Nok figurines and a carved ivory tusk — that were seized in Chicago.
Habu said he plans to have everything shipped back to Nigeria in August, where they will be returned to the museum.
He pointed to the two matching pieces, which appeared to have come from a single figurine.
"I am going to ask the government if they will agree to get expert restorers to put this back," he said.
Officials declined to assign a monetary value to the statues, saying as cultural artifacts they are priceless.

PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye: "Mr. When I Was In The House" by Seamah: 7:49am On Jul 29, 2012
I like the guy. If u follow Dino closely, it very easy to know where he is leaning to. Dino makes noise about the govt, the national Assembly and corruption in the country, but in 4 yrs that he was a member of the House of Representative, he acquired enough wealth to live in luxury. Dino owns a house in Wuse, he drives luxury cars including a BMW X6 valued at about 14 million Naira with the special number plate Dino 1. Yet he goes about claiming to be fighting for the masses. We the youths must open our eyes to these politician who when they are pushed out of office, start using us to make noise to remain poliically relevant. We must hold the govt accountable including those who steal our money when they were in power. Dino only started shouting in the House when Bankole sidelined him. We are no fools, we know their story. Lets open our eyes. The change we desire in this country cannot be brought by these chamelon cos when they get back to power, they will only continue from where they left...

PoliticsAre Christians Threat To Nigeria's Unity? by Seamah(op): 10:02am On Jul 25, 2012
On Sunday evening, news of a fiery message delivered by Pst. Tunde Bakare was making wave. By Monday it had caught on like wild fire culminating in his invitation by the SSS. We cannot deny the fact that Nigeria is not living up to her potentials,no thanks to poor leadership over the years. Nigeria has two major religion, christianity and Islam. However, i have noticed that it is only pastors who are busy calling for the division of this country, death of the president and resignation of the president, while their Muslim counterparts have respectfully stayed out of these issues. Is it that they are being used as fronts by some politicians? Are men of God not supposed to be neutral, admonishing both the opposition and the government in power? Am just wondering, are pastors now the greatest threat to our democracy and unity as a country?

Education and personal life

Gbaja Biamila attended Igbobi College in Yaba, Lagos, King William's College on the Isle of Man, United Kingdom,[1] John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, United States, and the University of Lagos in Lagos.[2]
Political career

Gbaja Biamila was elected to the House in 2003, and re-elected in 2007. He represents the Surulere I constituency of Lagos State (see Nigerian National Assembly delegation from Lagos) in the House of Representatives.[2] He is the house's Minority Whip.[3]

Gbaja Biamila has criticized members of Congress for switching parties. He suggested that many voters don't have access to the information to make choices based on every individual stance, and therefore are sometimes only vote for candidates based on their party alignment. He criticized floppers with this in mind, saying the effect "cannot be anything but negative."[4]

In September 2011, it was reported that Gbaja Biamila was implicated in a bribery scandal, with one lawmaker threatening to expose him to the media if he did not pay him back entirely.[5]
while i have issues with some of the policies of GEJ, i think those making all these noise can not be said to be doing it in the interest of the masses. why is it the impeachment of the president that they are spearheading?do they have vested interest in the budget? we need them to make laws to that have direct impact on our lives, instead they have been using their position to enrich themselves.. thieves
PoliticsRe: If You Had Just 20 Mins With Mr.president, wat Wld U Advice Him On Security? by Seamah: 5:43pm On Jul 07, 2012
This is an interesting thread. I think we should start focusing our energy towards proffering solutions while hoping that "BEAF" and others will bring it to the attention of his master. 20 mins with Mr President, hmmmm! The security problem in the country stem from myriads of factors. Therefore the president must address unemployment, across the country from the creek of Niger Delta to the Desert of Maiduguri. The security agencies must be well motivated. This should go beyond salary to other allowance including housing, education for their children and a good retirement benefit. Then our educational sector must be reviewed from paper based to skill and entreprenuer.
PoliticsRe: General Buhari : A Hero Or Villain by Seamah: 5:03pm On Jun 30, 2012
Surely not a hero. The first time he contested, i actually voted for him out of naivety. But then i took time to look into his antecedents and his present activkities, the truth is, in a sane society Buhari will be in Guantanamo bay prison, under close monitoring. Only a deranged mind can concieve some of his utterances. Buhri as a president again in this country?... Only if we are back to the stone age
