___________Police confirms Seungri's participation in embezzling 600 million won

Police searched Yuri Holdings as well as Jun Won Corporation after determining Seungri's additional charge of embezzlement.

the Intellectual Crime Investigation Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency explained in a periodic summary, "A part of embezzlement charges has been verified. The search warrant is being implemented so the amount of embezzled money could increase. We will also check the consumed money. We cannot reveal the detailed suspected contents." The capital money invested in Yuri Holdings and Jun Won Corporation, which is the verified scale of each company, is up to hundreds of millions of won."

__________Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Joon Ho testify in investigation of golf betting

Actor Cha Tae Hyun and comedian Kim Joon Ho completed the investigation as testifier for the controversy over golf betting.

According to the management companies of Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Joon Ho, both presented themselves and received investigations from the urban investigation team of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency as witnesses.

On March 16, the program "9 O'Clock News" (KBS 1TV) reported on Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Joon Ho's betting when playing golf. This case was discovered during the investigation of the kakaotalk chat room to justify the suspicion of Jung Joon Young illegally filming sex videos. Such conversations as, "It only took 2 hours to earn money", "If you report, you will be handcuffed", "Joon Ho earned 2.6 million today while I earned 2.5 million" was found in the Kakao Talk chat room of the members and the production crew of the show "2 Days & 1 Night".

Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Joon Ho explained, "I participated with the thought that it was a game for entertainment and returned the money right there." They also denied the initial news stating that they had played golf overseas and said that they only played inside Korea. The two realized the ethical responsibility and withdrew from the show "2 Days & 1 Night". Cha Tae Hyun expressed his repentance, "I'm really sorry for causing damage to the other members. As the father of a family, I sincerely apologize to my children and my family. I will review myself and repent." Kim Joon Ho expressed, "I'm deeply reviewing myself because I should have become an example as a public figure and a big brother of "2 Days & 1 Night", but in the end, I failed to do that."

In addition, NCT 127 will be the first Korean male artist to appear on ABC channel's famous talk show "Strahan & Sarah" broadcast on the same day. The group promises to show a colorful charm through performances and talk corner.

__________Chen (EXO) shares about re-signing the contract with SM

Chen (EXO) told stories about EXO members on the program "Radio Star".

In response to Kim Gu Ra's question, "Time to renew the contract has yet to come? Are your contract periods different?", Chen explained, "All the same. Actually, the group's contract is still valid for about 3 years."

Hearing that, Yoon Jong Shin advised, "It's time to start thinking about it. When that year suddenly comes, you cannot think at all." Chen said, "There's much time left so now I just think of working happily while doing what I like. So that I don't feel pressured about it."

At the same time, Chen revealed that the group often used the company's meeting room as a gathering place, "Because our group have many members, there are many stories to tell. If staying in a place for a long time, we have to pay attention to the surroundings. So we gathered in the company's meeting room and kept talking until the end." (Yaaassss, this last paragraph makes me happy, I think this was how Yoora unnie felt when she was reporting EXO’s news)

___________"Vagabond" broadcast schedule has not been fixed

SBS gave their stance on the broadcast of "Absolute Boyfriend" and "Vagabond"

On the afternoon of April 9, a representative of SBS shared with Newsen, "The drama 'Absolute Boyfriend' has set the broadcast schedule on Wednesday, Thursday in May but 'Vagabond' is still considering broadcasting on Fridays, Saturdays in September. Besides, the broadcast schedule for other films ('Missing', 'Dr. Romantic 2', 'Nobody Knows') has not been confirmed and is in the process of discussing".

Computers / Instant Messaging – Telegram Vs Whatsapp by hogfurniture: 12:59pm On Aug 02, 2018
Instant messaging (IM) technology is a type of online chat that offers real-time text transmission over the Internet.

Instant Messaging applications are applications that make use of push technology to provide real-time text, which transmits messages character by character, as they are composed.

These messaging apps can be installed on a smartphone, laptop, and tablets after which you get to chat straight away.

Although these messaging apps have common features, it is important to acknowledge that they all have different features as well.

Instant Messaging Apps has made communication a lot easier, effective and even added more fun. Most instant messaging apps can send voice notes, make voice calls and even video calls.

WeChat, Whatsapp Messanger, Telegram, Facebook Messanger, 2go, Line, Viber, Slack, Blackberry Messanger, kakaotalk, IMO, Skype, Snapchat, and KIK are a few of the common Instant Messaging Apps around. Although some of them seem to have gone extinct, yet we can not ignore the fact that some are still making improvements hence they remain very relevant.

The two Instant Messaging Apps to be discussed in this piece are Whatsapp Messanger and Telegram

Contrary to the popular misinformation, Telegram app was not designed in India. Telegram was launched in 2013 by Russian brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov while WhatsApp was founded in 2009 by Brian Acton and Jan Koum.

They both have similar functionality features and these include the voice call which allows users to make calls at the cost of data instead of airtime.

Whatsapp Messanger and Telegram would be discussed under the following interesting points

Business Model:
Whatsapp as a Facebook subsidiary charges a small fee for a year license while telegram runs on a kind of open source-alike model, based on donations and always free for the end user.

Multiple device Access:
Whatsapp can be accessed from its web-enabled interface on chrome and opera and needs the phone to be on and connected to mobile data or wifi. This means for the web-enabled interface to work; the phone too must be connected....Follow this https://vanaplus.com.ng/blogs/news/instant-messaging-telegram-vs-whatsapp to learn more.
Science/Technology / Google Detects Dangerous Spyware Apps On Android Play Store by DrCybersecurity: 5:23pm On Jul 27, 2017
Security researchers at Google have discovered a new family of deceptive Android spyware that can steal a whole lot of information on users, including text messages, emails, voice calls, photos, location data, and other files, and spy on them.
Dubbed Lipizzan, the Android spyware appears to be developed by Equus Technologies, an Israeli startup that Google referred to as a 'cyber arms' seller in a blog post published Wednesday.
With the help of Google Play Protect, the Android security team has found Lipizzan spyware on at least 20 apps in Play Store, which infected fewer than 100 Android smartphones in total.

Google has quickly blocked and removed all of those Lipizzan apps and the developers from its Android ecosystem, and Google Play Protect has notified all affected victims.
For those unaware, Google Play Protect is part of the Google Play Store app and uses machine learning and app usage analysis to weed out the dangerous and malicious apps.

Lipizzan: Sophisticated Multi-Stage Spyware
According to the Google, Lipizzan is a sophisticated multi-stage spyware tool that gains full access to a target Android device in two steps.
In the first stage, attackers distribute Lipizzan by typically impersonating it as an innocuous-looking legitimate app such as "Backup" or "Cleaner" through various Android app stores, including the official Play store.
Once installed, Lipizzan automatically downloads the second stage, which is a "license verification" to survey the infected device to ensure the device is unable to detect the second stage.
After completing the verification, the second stage malware would root the infected device with known Android exploits. Once rooted, the spyware starts exfiltrating device data and sending it back to a remote Command and Control server controlled by the attackers.

Lipizzan Also Gathers Data from Other Popular Apps
The spyware has the ability to monitor and steal victim's email, SMS messages, screenshots, photos, voice calls, contacts, application-specific data, location and device information.
Lipizzan can also gather data from specific apps, undermining their encryption, which includes WhatsApp, Snapchat, Viber, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Gmail, Skype, Hangouts, and kakaotalk.

There's very few information about Equus Technologies (which is believed to have been behind Lipizzan) available on the Internet. The description of the company's LinkedIn account reads:
"Equus Technologies is a privately held company specialising in the development of tailor made innovative solutions for law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and national security organisations."

Earlier this year, Google found and blocked a dangerous Android spyware, called Chrysaor, allegedly developed by NSO Group, which was being used in targeted attacks against activists and journalists in Israel, Georgia, Turkey, Mexico, the UAE and other countries.

NSO Group Technologies is the same Israeli surveillance firm that built the Pegasus iOS spyware initially detected in targeted attacks against human rights activists in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last year.

How to Protect your Android device from Hackers?
Android users are strongly recommended to follow these simple steps in order to protect themselves:

Ensure that you have already opted into Google Play Protect.
Download and install apps only from the official Play Store.
Enable 'verify apps' feature from settings.
Protect their devices with pin or password lock.
Keep "unknown sources" disabled while not using it.
Keep your device always up-to-date with the latest security patches.

Phones / BBM For Ios And Android: The Beginning Of Another Success Story by Tunsbobo(m): 3:26pm On Oct 29, 2013
Many have said the release of BBM for iOS and android is the bane of blackberry, and that the blackberry use base is destined to decline sporadically hence forth, None of these theories are true! This move will keep them alive! It is difficult to get a handle on what the early success of BlackBerry’s messaging service on Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms might mean. By Friday 3 PM, BBM has become the #1 app in 80 countries. It hit the 10 M user mark on iOS and Android platforms in 24 hours, yet continues performing remarkably well on its fourth day. It seems that the early wave of super loyal BlackBerry users and curious rubberneckers is segueing into sustained interest in the app. But how to value a free download app that currently offers no paid add-on features or advertising that would create cash flow? The best comparison here is probably LINE, the wildly popular text-messaging service that is now closing on the 300 M download mark. Here is the tricky part: LINE, one of the most successful monetization cases in the messaging business, only launched its game service in July 2012. At that point, it had hit 45 M users. It seems possible that BBM could build a similar pool of fresh  iOS/Android users in a matter of months.
After launching the game service, it took just 9 months for LINE to hit 100 M game downloads. By spring of 2013, LINE’s game and sticker revenue was topping $100 M a quarter. LINE’s strategy of leveraging a free messaging app to build a wildly profitable game marketing platform took just 12 months to execute. The approach is still so novel that it’s hard to evaluate whether it can be copied by other vendors and how the revenue growth patterns might look after two or three years. But it is clear that at least in Asia, possessing a popular free messaging app is the most effective way to promote games. Right now, 19 out of Top 20 highest grossing apps in Korea belong to the kakaotalk messaging app platform. By Friday afternoon, BBM still clung to #2 position in the US iPhone download chart – and remained the #1 app in major markets like Turkey, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, UK, Switzerland, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. It is particularly interesting that BBM is performing so well in markets where BlackBerry never broke through as a smartphone. It is a Top 10 app in countries like Hungary and Italy. It has hit Top 30 even in Sweden and Finland, the European markets that used to be the most hostile towards BlackBerry devices, never even yielding 2% market penetration for BB. It took LINE 400 days to reach 100 M registered users. BBM currently has around 60 M users on BlackBerry devices and perhaps 15 M on iOS/Android.
The BlackBerry user base is likely set to erode relatively rapidly – but the strong early iOS and Android momentum seems to indicate that hitting 100 M users across all platforms could well happen by next summer. Of course, it is far too early to make solid projections for BBM growth. But its success in several key markets in its first week has already eclipsed anything LINE has managed. For example, this past summer LINE could only crack the US iPhone download chart for a single day, peaking at #18. App download market is utterly dominated by games – messaging apps very rarely crack the Top 10 chart of any market and often tend to achieve this in a very narrow spectrum of countries. In contrast to LINE, WeChat and kakaotalk, the early traction of BBM is surprisingly even across Latin America, North America, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East and South East Asia. The only major markets where it is really striking out are Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. This is to be expected – LINE dominates Japan absolutely, Kakao rules Korea and WeChat has a lock on China. But in markets like USA, UK, Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia, BBM has been able to rack up massive early download volumes even against rival services with very high established market penetration. It looks like BBM has a decent chance of vaulting clearly ahead of rivals such as Tango, Kik and Nimbuzz in coming months. If BBM hits the middle tier between behemoths like LINE and WhatsApp who are closing in on 100-300 M active monthly users and smaller rivals like Tango and Nimbuzz, how would the service be valued? That depends entirely on whether BlackBerry can build an effective content distribution/marketing system on top of BBM. If it can copy the LINE playbook and start offering social games once it has 45 M iOS/Android users, BlackBerry could be hitting the game platform stage already next spring. BBM currently has strong traction in some of the most lucrative mobile game markets in the world, including USA , UK and Germany. Expecting BBM to match LINE’s $100M  a quarter game/sticker revenue by end of 2014 is a stretch, because BlackBerry has no prior experience in managing this type of business and Japanese consumers are more willing to pay for extras than their Western peers. But a successful BBM network across the globe is a potential marketing platform that could reach revenue of tens of millions a quarter in short order. What BlackBerry needs right now is a clear, effective strategy of rolling out LINE-like content offerings and tailoring them to each major market. If the company can manage this, BBM alone could have a substantial valuation by next summer. LINE is planning a Tokyo IPO right now and its market cap is being tentatively estimated to be in the $8-10 B bracket. Creating a service that could reach just one quarter of LINE’s success should be in BBM’s grasp – and  could be a major reversal of fortune for BlackBerry. Much is now riding on how the company handles its BBM content delivery strategy. All In All, blackberry now have a product that is applauded by all and sundry; the first praises pundits have given them in years!

Phones / Blackberry’s BBM Will Hit IOS And Android Today by gosifechris: 8:50am On Oct 22, 2013
Hey, remember when BlackBerry was going to
officially roll out BBM for iOS and Android a few
weekends ago only to be stymied by technical
issues? At the time it was yet another dark mark
on BlackBerry’s already sketchy record, but things
are finally starting to look up. The company confirmed on its Inside BlackBerry blog that the messaging app will go live in the Android and iOS app stores for new
users once more at some point today.
It’s a good thing, too. Considering the sorts of
troubles that BlackBerry has been dealing with
lately, it’s a little heartening to see that the
company has finally managed to iron out the wrinkles with one of its biggest cross-platform
pushes in recent memory. If you happen to be one
of the six million (!) people who threw your name
into the “I Want BBM” hat, you’ll be able to start
using the apps right away. Unfortunately, the rest
of us will be stuck a queue waiting for our turn to really use the apps, though the company noted
that it was we “focused on moving millions of
customers through the line as fast as possible.”
Curiously enough, BlackBerry also crowed about
the fact that over 1 million Android users had
installed an iffy pre-release version of the application. To be fair that’s a pretty significant
indicator of demand, but those people are also
partially to blame for the BBM delay as a whole —
that early version of the app generated amounts
of data traffic that BBM head Andrew Bocking said
was “orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user”, and at the time there was no
way to launch a new, fixed version of the app
without effectively screwing over all of the people
who installed the illicit version.
That not-so-little issue has apparently been
cleared up though, but BlackBerry has offered little guidance on what sort of wait times
interested users will have to endure before they
can start BBMing each other. We’ll soon see how
annoying this process really is, but in Blackberry’s
defense, it really can’t afford to botch this whole
thing a second time. A slow, manageable trickle of new users is definitely a nice change of pace from
the damning traction seen at the end of
September, but there are still plenty of potential
problems BBM still has to face — think WhatsApp,
Viber, Voxer, Google Hangouts, Facebook
Messenger, Line, kakaotalk, and all those other entrenched messaging apps. The path to
continued relevance is a tricky one, but at least
BBM is finally ready to leave the gate.

Science/Technology / Twitter To Launch 'whatsapp-like Messenger Service' by remajit: 8:34pm On Oct 19, 2013
Twitter is reportedly planning to launch a standalone direct-messaging application to rival popular apps such as WhatsApp and Snapchat.

The move is part of a broader revamp of Twitter's direct-messaging product, which also includes the addition of a new setting that allows users to send and receive direct messages from others without needing to mutually follow one another, according to AllThingsD.

Twitter has reportedly been internally testing this setting for weeks, and began rolling it out to the public in a limited capacity earlier this week.

Private messaging has never been Twitter's primary focus, and at one stage the company considered killing direct messaging off altogether. However, the rapid increase in popularity of personal-messaging apps like WhatsApp, Line and kakaotalk has forced social media companies to re-evaluate their messaging capabilities.

kakaotalk was singled out as a particular threat in Twitter’s S-1 IPO documentation, filed earlier this month. Twitter also reportedly ran a survey to find out the extent to which people are using Snapchat to engage with others.

It is unclear what form Twitter's standalone direct messaging app could take, but it is likely that it will target mobile users. Facebook already offers a standalone application called Messenger for iOS and Android, which fuses Facebook's private messaging function with technology from Beluga, a startup it bought back in 2011.In April this year, analysts Informa revealed that messaging applications have overtaken text messages for the first time, with 19 billion chat messages sent every day via applications, compared to 17.6 billion texts.

Twitter is currently preparing to float on the New York Stock Exchange on November 14. The social media business filed to make its initial public offering last month, around 18 months after Facebook made its disastrous stock market debut.

In an amended IPO filing on Tuesday, the eight-year-old company reported a 37 per cent rise in users to 231.7m and a doubling in revenues to $168.6m in the quarter to the end of September – mostly from mobiles.

However, net losses widened to $64.6m from $21.6m a year earlier, partly driven by a 158 per cent surge in sales and marketing spending to push its advertising platform. The company lost $80m (£50m) in 2012 and $69.3m in the first half of 2013.

Phones / Blackberry® Posts User Guide For Ios & Android For BBM Ahead Of Launch! by afechosen(m): 6:14pm On Aug 22, 2013
The launch of BBM for iOS and Android appears to be imminent, as BlackBerry has accidentally published user guides for its forthcoming mobile messaging apps to its own website: here (iOS) and here (Android). The guides explain in detail how the apps function, how to get started, and their various feature sets.

For previous BBM users from BlackBerry, most of these details are familiar. The apps are designed to allow for real-time communication between contacts and groups, the guides explain, letting users share pictures and messages, including broadcast messages, multi-person chats, and group chats. Users will also be able to create BBM Groups, where they can plan events, track to-do’s, share photos, and chat with up to 30 people at a time, without the need to add everyone as BBM contacts.

BBM will work over both cellular and Wi-Fi, the latter option which is meant to help avoid data charges when traveling.

Each user can establish their own BBM profile, where they can choose a display picture, name, and status that their contacts will see, and they’ll also have a unique BBM PIN which they can access by tapping “Show Barcode.”

The apps will also include support for various emoticons and emoji, but because the guides don’t include screenshots, we’re not able to see a preview of what these or any of the features look like in more detail.

We already knew BBM was to arrive on iOS or Android globally this summer, as CEO Thorsten Heins announced the news at the BlackBerry Live conference in May. The company also began sending out beta invites earlier this month.

This is a major move for the struggling company, as BBM has for a long time been one of Blackberry, and the BB10′s, strongest features. At launch, Heins had said that only messaging and group features will be available, but promised that the rest of BBM will eventually make its way to the Android and iOS versions including screen sharing, BBM voice, and the newer BBM channels.

The question now for the company is whether it’s too little, too late. Today’s app stores have become saturated with a plethora of mobile messaging apps for users to choose from, including Skype, Whatsapp, kakaotalk, Kik, Viber, WeChat, LINE, Facebook Messenger, Tango, Snapchat, MessageMe, Path, Voxer, Google Hangouts, and many others. Blackberry is banking on its brand recognition and history in the messaging space, but the large majority of its users have since moved on new smartphones and therefore, new mobile applications. Still, BBM may still hold a soft spot in some of these folks’ hearts, and at least some may be willing to give the apps another shot.

Alt links, in case Blackberry takes the guides down, are below. Although that’s probably not the case, as this “leak” could very well be a beg for publicity ahead of the apps’ official debut. (And it worked, sigh). Besides, who needs a manual for mobile messagers, anyway?
