Kalu's Journey: From Humble Beginning to Apex, Setting the Record Straight

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Governor of Abia State, is a figure whose story spans from the bustling streets of Abia to the global stage. Born to humble beginnings, Kalu built a remarkable career as a successful businessman, politician, and philanthropist, leaving an indelible mark on the development of his state and country.

By
Emmanuel Odoemelam, Abuja

Right from his days at Government College Umuahia (GCU) known as the Eton of the East, Kalu has been a leader who has demonstrated courage, resilience, punctuality, and strong character in dealing with people.

Kalu started his Secondary School education at Eziama High School, Aba, and switched to the renowned Government College Umuahia where he was referred to as "Labour Ke" an industrious student who is more of a workaholic, who gets his assignments and academics done right on time.

Despite being a "White Shirt" (a new student who didn't start GCU from JSS1), the then Principal, O. O. Otisi, a grade 'A' principal in Eastern Nigeria, found Kalu worthy to be made the Labour Captain to pilot, coordinate the affairs of students during and after manual labor, because the exalted office demanded someone who is focused, disciplined, keeps to time and dares to persuade both his mates and junior students to be proactive and hardworking.

This responsibility bestowed on Kalu wasn't a mere mediocre portfolio. To be a Labour Captain or School Captain in GCU then, you must be a very brilliant student who is academically sound, and hard-working to combine both academics and other school activities and still come out in flying colors.

These leadership positions were fertile grounds for preparing Kalu for what he was going to become later in life, both in business and politics.

Amongst his schoolmates and contemporaries, none has come out to give any bad report about Kalu, they are all giving heartwarming testimonies about their one-time Labour Captain, "Labour Ke", Kalu.

Fast forward to when he became Governor of Abia State on 29th May 1999, Kalu showed the world the qualities he is made of by taking Abia State to an enviable, and relatively next level not minding where the Military Government left it. Kalu as governor, inculcated the spirit of farming and industrialized agriculture in students, teachers, civil servants, and the private sector. I remember when all pupils, students, teachers, and civil servants in Abia State were given palm seedlings free of charge.

Today, those palm seedlings have grown into palm plantation sites which makes billions for both individuals and collectively as a state. You will agree with me that this singular initiative of sharing palm seedlings took so many people from the street and has succeeded in making some wealthy people thereby enhancing and enlarging human capacity development.

As governor, Kalu made Free Education compulsory from Primary to University level which was the first of its kind after Sir Michael Okpara, Premier of the old Eastern Region. yellow coaster buses (Ebeano) took pupils and students to school by 7 am and took them back by 2 pm daily from Monday to Friday across all the nooks and crannies of Abia State. Students were given Mathematical sets and writing materials to aid their learning. Yours truly was a beneficiary of the free ride and education scheme of former governor Kalu. This singular act of benevolence helped many parents to use the money meant for school fees to pay for other house exigencies.

These were the major burden Kalu lifted for parents of indigenes and non-indigenes in Abia. Kalu was not discriminatory. When other governors were retrenching workers who weren't from their states which affected so many teachers, they all ran back to Abia State and were absorbed by the Abia State Government led by Dr. Kalu.

Abia State University, ABSU, was the top grade when Kalu was governor. Their graduates were top in the Nigerian Law School and Nigerian Medical School. Kalu made sure he pulled renowned Professors from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, to come over to ABSU to help them come up to standard and the results were seen in Law, Medicine, and Engineering graduates ABSU produced in the labor market. Throughout Kalu's tenure as governor of Abia State, ABSU never lost NUC accreditation.

How was Kalu able to achieve all these incredible legacies in ABSU?

How was he able to maintain this status quo without owing lecturers' salaries?

The answer isn't far fetched. The reason was that he was financially prudent and disciplined. He was circumspect with his security votes, which some of his governor colleagues were lavish with, however, he chose to use his security votes to offset some of the education burden which was very smart and thoughtful of him.

As governor of Abia State, Kalu built from foundation the teaching hospital in Aba. When he left as Governor, his successors couldn't maintain the building and management of the teaching hospital.

Kalu is the brain behind Judges' quarters in Abia State. He built it, furnished and paid lawyers as at when due. He never owed them any salary for one day.

As governor, Kalu built quality roads which my community Nneato, Umunneochi LGA benefited from. Kalu constructed Leru road from the Leru Junction down to Umuchukwu in Anambra with drainage systems. The good thing is that these roads are still solid till today. Kalu constructed roads in the 3 Senatorial districts. No village in Abia State will deny witnessing the impact of Kalu's government from 1999-2007.

In terms of security, Abia state was calm, peaceful, and tranquil. Foreigners and Europeans were all rushing to Abia State then to do business because they knew the state government led by Kalu was resolute, determined, and unequivocally poised to safeguard the lives and properties of the people living and doing business in Abia State and her environs. Kalu not only depended on the Police and Army to protect the people, but he also employed the services of non-state actors like the vigilantes who were properly documented and monitored to avoid clash of interests or working outside their job description which was to gather local intelligence to forestall crime from happening.

Kalu also had a robust and cordial relationship with the traditional institutions and rulers who helped in taming their subjects and restive youths who were properly engaged in doing meaningful agricultural, sporting, and creative activities that put money in their pockets.

How about now Kalu is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Is he still doing those selfless great jobs for his people?

The answer is capital YES. Kalu is doing more, because it's in his nature to help and see people rise and fulfill their God-given potentials.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Privatization, Kalu, has done for Abia North Senatorial District what no Senator has done for them, since the inception of the state. He has constructed over 160 standard roads (2-3km each) with drainages, and renovated over 70 primary/secondary schools, and 50 primary health centers in less than 5 years of serving as a ranking lawmaker at the Hallowed Red Chamber.

In a recent article published by Dailytrust newspaper, it is on record that out of 13 former governors who are current serving senators, Sen. Kalu is the only ex-governor who has sponsored 5 bills since the inception of 10th Senate. Where does this point to? It clearly shows Kalu has a clear-cut legislative agenda that is well spelt out and he knows exactly how to get it done to bring dividends of democracy down to primarily the good people of Abia North Senatorial District and citizens of Nigeria in general.

He has done Zonal Intervention Projects more than any Senator in Abia State. Sharing of agricultural equipment, Grinding machines, Casava processing machines, Generators, Sewing machines, Wheelbarrows, Shovels for farming, School materials, Bags, Exercise Books, Pencils, Pens, modern writing Desks, and writing Boards to different schools across Abia North to aid pupils and students study in a good learning environment.

It has also been a tradition for over 38 years, since 1986 that the former Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Kalu, shares bags of Rice, Beans, Garri, and with a good sum of cash to 103 wards in Abia North, Abia State and beyond, every Yuletide and New Year celebration.

The 2023 season celebration wasn't an exception, because the people's Senator, Dr. Kalu in his wisdom and kindness shared over 30,000 bags of rice, 10,000 bags of beans, and 10,000 bags of garri to help cushion the effect of the realities of economic challenges. One thing that struck me and drew my attention was how humble Kalu was standing under the scorching sun, distributing these palliatives and giving cash to 103 wards of the OUK movement, APC, and Reality Organization members who came to Camp Neya, by himself. He saw to it, that the palliatives were judiciously shared on merit and not by 'eye service', which further portrayed him as a leader with good conscience.

He also extended his benevolence to share 4 Hilux Vans to the Nigerian Police and Igbere Vigilante to help curb crime and gather local intelligence primarily in Abia North and Abia State.

Why am I writing this article?

This is to specifically address young Gen-Z generation who might be in their 18s, 19s, and 20s, who weren't born or were still very tender when Kalu was a governor. This is to give them a better understanding of who Senator Kalu is. Our schools no longer teach History, which is where students get information they're privy about.

However, this article will further throw more light on some dark-shaded opinions or reservations you have against the best governor Abia State has ever had to date. I believe you are reading the article line by line and getting the true reflection of who Kalu truly is. He is a man of his word. His yes is his yes, and his no is his no. If he is with you, he is with you. If he's not with you, you will clearly know. He is outspoken and courageous. If he tells you anything, you can take it to the bank and cash it and it won't bounce. That's the caliber of man he is. He is very punctual and keeps to time. Of course, Kalu is a Harvard-trained business mogul who has been taught that time is vital for effective delivery on projects. If he gives you time for an appointment, better don't take it with laxity.

Abia's leadership problem started when successive Governors Kalu handed over power in trust deviated from the master blueprint he gave his successors. Had they remained or sustained Kalu's legacies, Abia would have gone farther than where it is currently.

Successive Governors of Abia will find it hard to step into the shoes of Sen. Kalu in all ramifications of governance, because Kalu set a high standard as governor of Abia State. It will be a herculean task for successive Governors to match up to the standards Kalu set from 1999-2007, even when Abia had limited resources, and a meager budget, when compared to the present dispensation.

Senator Kalu has been an exceptional leader from time immemorial. It didn't start today. He started from humble beginnings, began business at a young age of 19, as a University of Maiduguri student. He started selling palm oil from East to the North, then brought Fish from North to East to sell. He ventured into furniture and other merchandise as the business grew bigger. He became a successful business man at the age of 25. Ever since then, he has been God's working tool in the affairs of men (humanity).

Those who erroneously see Kalu as venal and send political fifth columnists to write mendacious reports about him, which are unfounded. This emanates from those who can't separate jealousy from saying the truth. Their major worry is, how can Kalu be wealthy and have political power simultaneously

Kalu remains a political and business institution in Abia State, Southeast, Nigeria, Africa, and the world in general.

Those who don't know him closely are those who waste their time writing unverified stories about the permanent good man, Kalu, who understands the responsibility and sacrifice of leadership.

Kalu is humble and down to earth, a detribalized Nigerian who was born in the East, grew up in the North and did business in the West. Kalu understands the economic and political dynamics of Nigeria due to its unique diversity.

Happy birthday to the great Iroko of Africa and an encyclopedia and reservoir of modern politics. I pray God grants you long life in good health and sound mind as you continue to inspire hundreds of millions of people who look up to you for mentorship and leadership in all spheres of life endeavor.

Emmanuel Odoemelam is a Legislative Aide to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Politics / No Shit How Jago, A Community In Oyo State, Is Going Open Defecation-free by WaleBuraimoh: 11:22am On Apr 21
Most of Oyo state still practises open defecation, but one progressive community is investing in toilets – and seeing public health dividends.

"There is no shit, there is no shit in Jago! There is no shit, there is no shit again! I walked around, no shit, no shit. I search around, no shit, no shit. I turned around, no shit, no shit! So therefore, no shit again in Jago," sang a jubilant chorus of community members one overcast Thursday as they welcomed a group of visiting journalists.

Jago, in Ona Ara Local Government Area (LGA), part of Nigeria's southwestern Oyo state, has earned its bragging rights: after a concerted public sanitation and toilet-building campaign, the community is well on its way to calling itself free of open defecation.

Downstream trouble
"Six months ago, I didn't know what a toilet looks like," said Pastor Ode John, a 35-year-old farmer from Jago. "I grew up defecating in the open. Our forefathers did it, so we follow suit. We would go to the bush whenever we want to defecate. After defecating, we would look for a leaf, to clean up.

"If it is too dark for us to go to the bush, we would dig up a hole at our backyard and defecate. That was our way of life."

Open defecation remains the norm across most of Oyo. A 2021 report, the WASH National Outcome Routine Mapping or WASHNORM, indicated that only 29.2% of the population of the state had access to even basic sanitation services. Some 53.7% of the population practised open defecation, while 43% of the population used unimproved toilet facilities.

If the evidence is clear that open defecation causes serious public health risks, the connection is not necessarily obvious to the people who practise it.

A few years ago, an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea hit Jago's kids. "My son was affected. We blamed it on the food he ate a night before the incident," Ode recalled.

The child's diarrhoea lasted for a week, Ode said. "I had to rush my son to the hospital, because he was so weak and I feared he could die. I spent almost half of my savings that year, before he could get better."

Monday Johnson, WASH specialist with UNICEF for Nigeria's South West Zone, told VaccinesWork that this is a common story in communities that practise open defecation.

"When faeces are left out in the open, rainwater washes them to the nearest water source, which for the Jago community is a creek, where they collect water to cook and wash clothes. They believe they have left the excrement in the bush, but it has found its way into their house and stomach," Johnson explained.

Diarrhoeal disease often follows, affecting mainly young kids. Those outbreaks usually have ranging knock-on effects. "The parents, especially the mother, in particular, won't be able to take action once this occurs. She will be caring for her child at home, therefore she won't be able to go to work. Economic activities are truncated, as the parents would use the small money they had saved on treatment.

"Open defecation is not something we should take lightly, because at the end of the day, it is going to affect the family, the child's health and education. Several studies have shown that open defecation can lead to disease outbreaks like cholera, reduced school attendance, stunting, wasting, malnutrition, poor productivity and loss of GDP," Johnson said.

Changing the narrative
Oyo's leadership seems to have heard that message. The statewide goal is to end open defecation by 2028, explained Obafemi Titilayo, director of sanitation at the Oyo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA).

A roadmap, launched in July 2022 by the Oyo state government with support from UNICEF, spells out what this will entail. Titilayo describes the main thrust of the plan: "The strategic objective of Oyo State Open Defecation Free (ODF) plan is to eliminate open defecation and ensure equitable sanitation and hygiene (including handwashing) services for all by 2028 in households, institutions (schools, health facilities, workplaces) and public places in all urban, small-town, and rural communities of the state."

Eighty million nairas (US$ 192,368 in July 2022) has been pooled by the state government and UNICEF, Titilayo said, to be loaned to households at a 9% interest rate – approximately half of the benchmark interest rate set by Nigeria's central bank – for the construction of sanitation facilities.

At a UNICEF-convened event in October on the WASH situation in the state, Titilayo summarised the state of play in Egbeda and Ona Ara, the two Oyo LGAs selected for the pilot phase of the statewide effort.

"The two LGAs have 22 wards with about 1,285 communities. Four hundred and four communities are ODF-claiming and ready for certification (Egbeda 254 and Ona Ara 150). Twelve toilet business owners and 36 masons have been trained and are actively constructing household toilets across the triggered wards of the two LGAs, which has seen 473 toilets constructed," she said. Many more communities are under Oyo State RUWASSA monitoring.

Embracing the initiative
The tide may be turning, but Baale Olusegun Oparinde, head of Jago community, says Jago cannot yet call itself completely open defecation-free. "I may have done the right thing by constructing a toilet in my home, but [some of] my people still practise open defecation. It pains me so much, because I have seen how our children are missing school because of diarrhoea; how my people are struggling to treat themselves due to diseases that could be prevented with proper toilets," he said.

When officials of the Oyo state government came to Jago community, Baale said he quickly keyed into the initiative. "I ensured funds are available for my people to construct the toilet and I also stand as a guarantor for them, which is one of the requirements to access the 80 million nairas pooled together by our state government and UNICEF."

Presently, almost all the households have installed Satopan – a simple plastic attachment that can convert any pit latrine into a sanitary toilet. But this shift didn't happen overnight. Oparinde says he had to deploy diverse means to convince his people to buy into the initiative.

Carrot and stick method
yellow Othuigbe, a native of Togo who migrated to Jago community 40 years ago, told VaccinesWork that it costs 60,000 to 70,000 nairas (US$ 68–78) to instal a Satopan. "That is huge money for us. We are mostly farmers in this village. Though our Baale told us that if we construct the Satopan in our homes, our children won't fall sick from diarrhoea again, we could not just come to terms with the fact that we would have to pay back the money."

Following his efforts to educate his community members about the advantages of building a toilet in their compound, Baale Oparinde claims he had to use a "carrot and stick" strategy, promising rewards to those who build their own and threatening to have the homes of those who refuse to build theirs locked up.

"That really helped most of them to construct their toilet. Today, the majority of them have paid back the money. As for those who are yet to complete their payment, they are paying according to the financial capability – no pressure. For those who cannot afford it at all, we, the community members, are raising funds for them. Presently, I have paid for the construction of four toilets for those who cannot afford it. While the Oyo state government is targeting open defecation-free status by 2028, we are targeting 2024," Oparinde disclosed.

"We have now seen the importance of defecating in the toilet. For the past eight months, none of my family members have fallen ill to diarrhoea. Though we gave our Baale a tough time, we are grateful to him for not giving up on us," Pastor Ode John stated.

Othuigbe, who was initially daunted by the high cost of constructing his toilet, said, "I finally paid my money. It wasn't difficult as I envisaged. Seeing my children growing healthier motivated me. I applaud the Baale of Jago community for standing by us, to achieve this giant stride in the community."

The next step
"While our community is [almost] free, neighbouring communities still practise the menace," Othuigbe said. The elders at Jago community are now going from one village to another to sensitise them on the importance of embracing the ODF initiative.

"We are doing this for free and our message is simple: we tell them why they are always sick and what they must do to change the narrative. It is working, as many communities are now constructing their toilets. We hope that before 2028, the whole Oyo state will be free of open defecation," Othuigbe stated.

I now believe Sade Johnson's claim dat shes a target on social media sites.... B4 I thot it was rantings of a crazy girl but it all makes perfect sense. TikTok banned one of her videos, Instagram banned her from making comments, YouTube has banned her from shown her body. What I find incredible is that there are women showing off der bodies anyhow and not being banned. Sade Johnson's videos are not sexually stimulating since she is always clothes. It appears to me it's a concerted effort like Andrew Tate. She has been saying sites don't want her to blow because she is close to someone who alot of social media owners dislike. Na WA o. D Truth is out there.

Hhhhmmm..... talk of flying to conclusions . If you are using any social media platform you would have heard of algorithms.... have you ? algorithms are set up to behave in certain manners upon calculating information of computer behavior. The problem with algorithms is they are not 100 percent accurate and can come up with wrong calculations. I'm on TikTok and they keep removing a picture of me in a yellow shirt with red circles designs. Maybe they think the circle is a woman's yansh. Your claim that they are after her is childish and naive. How come they haven't deleted more of her pictures ? Babe posted all week long and they are still there. Stop flying to conclusions . her latest picture are still there.

Kurti sets have deep roots in the history and culture of South Asia. Originally worn as casual wear, they have evolved into a versatile garment suitable for both formal and informal occasions. This adaptability speaks to their cultural significance, symbolizing both the traditional and the contemporary in women's fashion.

Choosing the Right Fabric for Your Kurti Set

⚑New Chinese supersonic UAV WZ-8 suspended under the fuselage of the Xian H-6MW missile bomber.

Chinese WZ-8 UAV is capable of reaching speeds three times the speed of sound at an altitude of 30 kilometers.

It is designed for strategic aerial reconnaissance across southeast Asia, particularly Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.

WZ-8 cannot take off under its own power and is air-launched from a Xi'an H-6M mothership once the H-6 reaches a prescribed speed and altitude. The drone then ignites its rocket motors, pushing it to its operating speed and altitude.

US intelligence reports have displayed it in hypothetical operation in a diagram, with the drone flying over Taiwan or the yellow Sea at a speed of Mach 3 and altitude of 100,000 feet (30,000 m)

The Franklin Coverup

The franklin coverup begins with a prominent republican figure of the 1980s named Lawrence King. He ran the Franklin credit union and few other businesses in a town in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was known to chatter private jets, host extravagant parties and maintain body guards. The credit union he was in charge of happened to be located near Boy’s Town; a catholic institution for orphaned boys. Kings bright yellow sportscar was frequently seen on the Boys Town campus.

King was later linked to embezzlement. He had stolen over 40 million dollars from the Franklin credit union and his financial record revealed the close nit relationship with Boys town.

His lavish lifestyle burst into flames in 1988 when several victims of King’s child abuse and prostitution stepped forward. The victims claimed that King took them to various parties that he threw for the republican elite and at these parties children were raped and sexually abused.

Rusty Nelson, the photographer for Lawrence King attended these parties documenting powerful men in compromising positions with minors. And in court hearing in 1999, Rusty Nelson revealed that he had witnessed King phone President Regan when other individuals couldn’t resolve a specific problem. In other words a man with abuse and child prostitution allegations had a direct line to the then president of the United states.

One of king’s victims who spoke out two years before there even was a Franklin scandal was Paul Bonacci. Paul relayed that at the age of 8 he began attending king’s parties as a child prostitute. He claimed that Democratic Senator Barney Frank abused him. He was given midnight tours of the white house only to be take to a separate location and sexually abused.

A judge awarded 1 million dollars in his testimony against King, but King never paid. The other victims who spoke out against King were awarded doubt and contempt for naming their abuser.

A list of 271 victims of King’s abuse was compiled, all recalling the same story; being taken to parties by king and abused by prominent figures.

The new york times revealed that both federal and state investigators were given thousands of files from abused children and their testimonies, but instead of bringing those victims justice, Douglas county and federal grand juries ordered the files to be sealed, neglected to interview witnesses and even filed charges of purgery.

Both grand juries agreed that the two victims that spoke out were abused, but deduced that the adults they testified against were innocent. Instead of getting the victims the help they so desperately needed, the state attorney mocked the allegations.

Lawrence King was never called to testify. Some of the victims were thrown in jail and discredited by local media. Evidence given to the grand jury were also tampered with.

After giving his testimony one victim was found in a hospital room dead. There was evidence that he was drugged and beaten prior to his death. In total there were 15 suspicious deaths surrounding the Franklin coverup.

In 1993, a documentary detailing the franklin cover up called the Conspiracy of Silence was produced by the discovery channel and the day it was set to be aired, it didn’t. Rumors were that someone paid half a million dollars to revoke the television rights.
Luckily for us, the documentary was released on the internet few years ago and with a little digging you can find it in full.

Just like every other information on this subject, the mainstream media outlets discredited it as a hoax and even Wikipedia calls it "a well crafted hoax." There however have been acclaimed books on the Franklin coverup that show irrefutable evidence that little boys were sexually abused by powerful elite men.

Nairaland / General / He Who Cherishes Gold Should Be Recipient Of Gold by timoflex(m): 3:44pm On Apr 18
Being a Paper Presented by Dr. Jimoh Olorede, Head, Department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies, The Federal Polytechnic Offa, at the 2024 Gold Merit Award of The Gold Magazine, held on Thursday, 18th April, 2024, at the NUJ Conference Hall, Osogbo, Osun State

Protocols

Gold, what it is?
Both Merriam-Webster dictionary and Encyclopedia Britannica define "gold" as "a soft yellow metal that is very valuable and that is used especially in jewelry.” This definition is obviously instructive as it provides knowledge and information about the concept, but it's literarily denotative thus consequently not exhaustive of the rather preferred operational meaning of the word especially in the context of this Paper.Β

So, defining "gold" in the context of "He Who Cherishes Gold should be Recipient of Gold" as a topic of discourse at this august Gold Merit Award presentation of The Gold Magazine, should be done via connotative derivatives. Connotatively therefore, the world "gold" in this instance, means "something or someone valued as being the finest of its or their kind, as those exemplifying a heart of gold, for instance.Β

The Historic Discovery of Gold
While historians and other experts still can't ascertain when or who discovered the first ever gold, it's believed that the metal was first found by the ancient Egyptians around 2450 B.C. The discovery has been credited to an Egyptian alchemist named Zosimos who, while mining for something else, inadvertently chanced upon gold in a region called Nubia, according to research.

"He Who Cherishes Gold Should be Recipient of Gold”
As connotatively conceptualized and interpreted above, the Recipients of The Gold Magazine's Gold Merit Awards today were deemed to be the "finest" of their kind, not because they are the finest in worldly jewelry or other materials acquisition. But they are having the Gold Merit Awards bestowed on them for their positive golden disposition to life as evident in their noble contributions to society in their various spheres of influence.

Distinguishably, whether the concept is literarily denotatively defined or connotatively operationalized, a particular word appears indispensable in the explanation or definition of Gold, and that's the word "value" (valuable). Today's Awardees cherish gold not because they always appear in only-the-rich-can-afford jewelry or expensive ornaments, but simply because they prioritize valuable service to humanity and society. At least, this must be the belief of the organizers in their yardsticks for assessing deserving Recipients of today's Merit Awards.Β Β

More so, "gold” has several qualities that have made it exceptionally valuable throughout history. Four out of the many qualities of gold suffice as they characterize it. The first is quality of attraction and brightness. A deserving Recipient of today’s Award is also believed to have this quality. The Awardees are bright and attractive to people, including the organizers of this great event because of their value addition to, and not subtraction from people’s lives.Β

The second is quality of durability and indestructibility. Gold is durable and indestructible. As deserving Merit Awardees, you are expected to be consistent in your positive contributions, in whatever way you're doing this, in your areas of domicile or to the society generally. You shouldn't be easily negatively influenced. You should remain durable and indestructible like gold.Β

Significance of Wedding and Engagement Rings

Symbolism of Wedding and Engagement Rings The Levee at University Motlier Wedding and engagement rings symbolize love, commitment, and union between partners. They are a permanent reminder of the vows made at marriage ceremonies.

Cultural Significance

The exchange of rings during marriage proposals is a ritual deeply rooted in numerous cultures around the globe. It is a vow of lifelong partnership and commitment.

Descending to Ring Styles

Wedding ring styles have changed over time to keep up with the trends. From traditional yellow-gold bands, now there's a multitude of choices that include original ring set patterns and even engagement rings with gemstones.VIII.

Exploring the Classic Signet Ring

History of Signet Rings are old-fashioned jewels laden with meaning. Originating in Egypt, signet rings were first worn on the finger which they are found today and used to seal important documents that represented a person's identity and authority (consequently these rings are sometimes called "sealers" or β€œseal-rings”).

Personalization and Design

Today's modern signet rings have kept the tradition of sealing with a style statement. They can be customized to carry intricate initials or family crests, a monogrammed symbol that adds a truly personal touch to this age-old accessory.

Materials Used

Classically made from gold or silver, metal signet rings are now available in a variety of different metals including platinum and titanium. Not only do these materials ensure the durability that people who lead active lifestyles need to rely on – they also bring with them certain associations of stateliness and great value which signets always had until recently.

XIV. Embracing the Elegance of Cocktail Rings_reviewed

Origins

Cocktail rings originated in the era of Art Deco in the 1920s, symbolizing elegance and luxury. At the glittering cocktail party, these rings exuded sophistication.

Daring Fashion

In men today, cocktail rings offer a shining chance to assert their glamour and manliness. By adding it to a Strong man's style statement, men can easily raise their rank and present themselves handsomely.

A wide selection of gemstones and designs

There are many options for men's cocktail rings, ranging from striking rubies to brushed metal designs. These rings satisfy everyone's unique taste and requirements.

Biker and rebel rings

Biker

Biker rings echo a rebellious spirit, suggesting individuality and non-conformism. Many biker rings use bold designs, often incorporating symbols like skulls, crosses and chains. The history of biker rings dates back to the 20th century, when they started out as being associated with motorcycle riding clubs and their members.

The symbolism of skull rings in biker culture is truly deep. To wearer, they tell of the transient nature of life and their own mortality. They stand for courage in the face of death and against conventional standards. Bikers n bestow these rings upon themselves as a negation of traditional morality.

Rebellion

Rebellion rings are marked by intricate detailing which conveys a spirit of resistance and rebellion. These rings are crafted with care and precision, employing elements like spikes, studs and dark motifs. Every piece tells a story that challenges popular perceptions of beauty.

In men's fashion, biker and rebel rings stand for themselves as symbols of the individual and self-expression. Those who follow these two styles present their own unique ways in the world.

Animal rings inspired by nature

Symbolism

Animal rings for men typically represent various traits specific to that particular animal. For example, a lion ring can stand for courage and strength, while a wolf ring symbolizes loyalty and resilience. By borrowing from the cultural significance of such totems, you bring an added depth to your wardrobe.

Designs

Nature-inspired animal ring designs capture the essence of every creature. There are highly detailed designs as well as minimalist silhouettes; some are crafted from sterling silver or gold, while others rely on the toughness of other metals. From predators to herbivores, each design embodies the nature of the animal it depicts.

Personal Expression

Celebrities Warhol and Elvis truly grasped this concept in their jewelry collections. Men often wear animal rings because they are not just making a fashion statement: they also offer a means to express their individuality. In quietly choosing rings that resonate with their spirit or personality, men can tell the world a little about themselves. Just as a bird in flight or the sinuous length of snake skin, these rings provide a means of expression.

Closing Thoughts

You've read about several men's ring designs, each with its relevant charm and grace. From the solid tradition of a classic signet ring to biker and rebellion rings that make bold statements about style, there is something for every taste and occasion here. With nature-inspired animal rings bringing a little wildness into your ensemble, something playful yet sophisticated gets added to your appearance.

It's important to remember that what you choose in Man Rings, reflects your personality and spirit. So go ahead; reach out for a traditional wedding band, or take a bold risk with a dashing cocktail gemstone ring. Embrace this chance! It is just those small moment from which others can evaluate one's character:through very minute actions new patterns of thinking all coarse feelings new horizons result because really does define usβ€”our eras might well be named 'Miniatures.' So go on; indulge your wishes and search hard to find that one special ring which seems most attuned with who you are. Your hands tell a tale-that is their own story . Let your rings help to tell said too .

Politics / NΓ€ΓŒJÁ POETRY 78: The Chibok Schoolgirls by NaijaphiliaBlog: 8:52pm On Apr 15
The night of 14-15 April 2014, a total 276 female students were kidnapped from a high school in Nigeria by Boko Haram. As of Sunday 14 April 2024, there are about 90 still in captivity, and possibly 30 of these might be dead. This poem is dedicated to the Chibok schoolgirls and all other victims of violent crimes across the world - you will never be forgotten!

THE CHIBOK SCHOOLGIRLS

yellow jerry cans abandoned by the wayside.
Dirt roads, clay houses, another year of dust.
The world has forgotten its kidnapped girls.

Nothing remains of footprints in dried mud,
Except their contours in the mother’s heart.
Bring back our girls.

Everything the father eats tastes gray
And bitter as raw hate.
Bring back our girls.

Young sisters reach out in their sleep,
Only to wake in terror.
Bring back our girls.

Gaunt brothers go but come back empty-handed
From thorny shrubs and jagged rocks.
Bring back our girls.

The harmattan whips dry sand to a haze.
Hyenas laugh.
For the world has forgotten its girls.

Fashion / The History Of The Yellow Gi In Brazilian Jiu-jitsu by umairrizwan1: 11:47am On Apr 15
Introduction:

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art renowned for its technical prowess, strategy, and unique uniform, the gi. While the traditional color of the gi has primarily been white, blue, and black, the introduction of yellow gis has brought a vibrant twist to the BJJ community. In this article, we delve into the history of the yellow gi in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, exploring its origins, significance, and evolution within the sport.

Origins of the Gi in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Before delving into the yellow gi's history, it's essential to understand the significance of the gi itself in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The gi, also known as kimono in Japanese martial arts, traces its origins to Judo, a martial art developed by Jigoro Kano in the late 19th century. Kano incorporated the gi to emphasize the importance of technique and leverage over strength.

When Judo was introduced to Brazil by Mitsuyo Maeda, a Japanese judoka, in the early 20th century, it underwent significant adaptations, leading to the birth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The gi remained an integral part of this new martial art, serving as a tool for practitioners to execute and defend against various techniques, including throws, joint locks, and chokes.

Traditional Colors of the Gi

Traditionally, the gi's colors in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have been limited to white, blue, and black. These colors hold symbolic significance within the BJJ community:

White Gi: Symbolizes purity, humility, and the beginning of one's journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Blue Gi: Represents progress and growth, signifying the transition from a beginner to a more seasoned practitioner.

Black Gi: Symbolizes mastery and expertise, often worn by high-ranking practitioners such as black belts.

These traditional colors have been widely accepted and adopted by BJJ practitioners worldwide. However, as the sport evolved, so did the variety of bjj gis available, leading to the introduction of unconventional colors like yellow.

Introduction of the yellow Gi

The introduction of the yellow gi in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu marked a departure from tradition and a celebration of individuality and personal expression within the sport. While the exact origins of the yellow gi trend are unclear, it gained popularity in the early 21st century, with several BJJ brands offering yellow gi options to their customers.

The yellow gi's emergence coincided with BJJ's increasing popularity and expansion into mainstream culture. As more people from diverse backgrounds began practicing the art, there was a growing demand for gis that reflected their unique personalities and preferences. The yellow gi provided practitioners with an opportunity to stand out on the mat while still adhering to the sport's technical and cultural traditions.

If you're interested in exploring the world of yellow gis further, check out Bravo BJJ's yellow gi collection, where you can find high-quality gis at discounted prices.

Significance of the yellow Gi

The yellow gi holds various significances within the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community, including:

Expression of Individuality: The yellow gi allows practitioners to express their individuality and style while training and competing. In a sport that emphasizes personal growth and development, wearing a yellow gi can serve as a statement of self-expression and confidence.
Visibility and Recognition: On a practical level, the yellow gi offers increased visibility on the mat, making it easier for training partners and referees to distinguish between competitors during sparring and tournaments. This enhanced visibility can also contribute to a more dynamic and engaging viewing experience for spectators.

Promotion of Inclusivity: The availability of yellow gis alongside traditional colors promotes inclusivity within the BJJ community by welcoming practitioners from diverse backgrounds and preferences. Regardless of their choice of gi color, practitioners are united by their shared passion for the art and their commitment to its principles.

Evolution of BJJ Culture: The acceptance and popularity of the yellow gi represent the evolving nature of BJJ culture, which continues to embrace innovation and diversity while honoring its rich history and traditions. As the sport continues to grow and evolve, the yellow gi serves as a symbol of BJJ's adaptability and openness to change.

Evolution of the yellow Gi

Since its introduction, the yellow gi has undergone various iterations and adaptations to meet the evolving needs and preferences of BJJ practitioners. Today, numerous BJJ brands offer yellow gi options in different styles, fabrics, and designs, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

Some practitioners prefer traditional yellow gis with minimalistic designs, while others opt for more elaborate and customized versions featuring intricate patches, embroidery, and artwork. Additionally, advancements in fabric technology have led to the development of lightweight and durable yellow gis that offer enhanced comfort and performance during training and competition.

Furthermore, the yellow gi trend has inspired collaborations between BJJ brands and artists, resulting in limited-edition gis featuring unique designs and artwork. These collaborations not only showcase the artistic talent within the BJJ community but also provide practitioners with exclusive and collectible gi options.

Conclusion

The history of the yellow gi in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu reflects the sport's evolution and the diverse interests and preferences of its practitioners. From its origins as a traditional martial art uniform to its modern incarnation as a symbol of individuality and expression, the yellow gi has become an integral part of BJJ culture.

As the sport continues to grow and evolve, the yellow gi will undoubtedly remain a fixture on the mats, serving as a testament to the innovation, diversity, and inclusivity of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Whether worn by beginners or seasoned practitioners, the yellow gi represents not only a commitment to the art but also a celebration of personal style and identity in the world of BJJ.

Celebrities / Re: Francesca Amewudah: Black Actors Condemn Racial Abuse Of Romeo, Juliet Star by JetApartment: 2:35pm On Apr 14
Azazyel:

One of the things that qualifies us as Africans is our dark skin which clearly depicts our identity. Remember Peter tosh the reggae artiste? He sang a song that no matter where you come from, as long as you are a black man, you're an African. All those black people you see in Europe claiming those countries have lost track of their ancestry. They weren't able to trace their roots so they accepted their fate. Now a lot of black people are retracing their ancestry. They are coming to Africa to find out more. They are sending DNA samples to know where they match. You see all those white people in USA, their ancestry is Europe. The real Americans were the Indian hunters typically yellow skinned together with those Eskimos in Canada and Alaska area. In those days when Romeo and Juliet story started, racism was still at its peak so it wasn't possible that they would exalt black people in their culture like that. Black people were viewed as lesser beings and only reduced to household chores with no recognition of any sort. If you say Romeo and Juliet were Africans then you mean white people during that period weren't racist. The white people enjoyed the story so much that they told their children who carried it in their hearts as guidelines to live life. Romeo and Juliet story is not part of black culture. We should stop trying to live their own lives. That's the real inferiority complex

What if i told you there are black indians in india with no roots in Africa? Being black doesn't mean you must have a root on Africa, it is just a skill color. Educate yourself more and stop the confidence of displaying ignorance online.
