BusinessHonda's Incredible New Private Jet for $4.5million by searchcorp(op): 9:06am On Apr 24, 2015
Honda, a company most famous for its award-winning line of automobiles, motorcycles, and home improvement equipment, is entering into some very unfamiliar territory — private jets.

After nearly 30 years of development, the HondaJet marks the company's entry into the $23 billion-a-year general aviation industry.

When it enters service, the $4.5 million North Carolina-produced HondaJet will compete in the very light jet segment of the market against already-established models, such as Embraer's Phenom 100 and Cessna's Citation Mustang.

According to the AP's Yuri Kageyama, Honda already has 100 orders for the jet — on sale now in the US and Europe — with deliveries set to begin later this year.

To show off its latest mobility offering, Honda is taking the jet on a world tour that kicked off this week with a ceremony at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

"To offer personal mobility in the skies was the dream of Soichiro Honda and the dream of us Honda men," Honda president Takanobu Ito told the press in Tokyo. "Today is a symbolic day."

Honda Aircraft CEO Michimasa Fujino revealed a truly fascinating tidbit of information at the ceremony — the nose design of the jet was inspired by a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo high heels he encountered at a duty free shop while on vacation in Hawaii.

According the Wall Street Journal, Fujino told the press that he was inspired by the designer footwear because it represented beauty, comfort, and functionality.

Designer heels aside, it will also feature one of the most unique engine layouts in civil aviation, with two GE Honda HF120 turbofans mounted on top of its wings. This design eschews the conventional business jet layout that calls for engines to be mounted at the rear of the fuselage.

By dispersing much of the engine's noise away from the fuselage, the jet will save passengers from suffering the same ear-shattering din as those unfortunate enough to be seated in the last few rows of other rear-engined aircraft.

According to the company, the over-wing engine design also gives the cabin greater usable space by removing the interior superstructure needed to support the engines.

The aircraft's HF120 turbofans will power the six-passenger HondaJet to a top speed of 483 mph and a maximum range of over 1,300 miles. Honda's technical wizardry also shows up in the jet's interior, with a state-of-the-art cockpit packed with features like touchscreen controls, a trio of 14-inch displays, and Garmin's G3000 avionics suite.

Have a closer look at Honda's new HondaJet:

Jokes EtcWorld’s First Head Transplant A Success After Nineteen Hour Operation by searchcorp(op): 11:28am On Apr 11, 2015
The ground-breaking operation took a team of surgeons nineteen hours and has allowed the patient to be cancer-free.

Johannesburg, South Africa — A 36-year-old man has undergone the world’s first successful head transplant. The ground-breaking operation took a team of surgeons nineteen hours to complete and has allowed the patient to be cancer-free.

Paul Horner, who was diagnosed with bone cancer five years ago, was on the verge of death when he was approved for the controversial and possibly deadly operation.

Doctor Tom Downey, who was part of the South African team who carried out the operation, told CNN he is thrilled about the results.

“It’s a massive breakthrough,” Downey said. “We’ve proved that it can be done – we can give someone a brand new body that is just as good, or better, than their previous one. The success of this operation leads to infinite possibilities.”

Surgeons at Charlotte Maxexe Johannesburg Academic Hospital in Johannesburg carried out the operation in February but waited until they could confirm it was successful before they made any public statement.

Downey spoke to reporters about the complexity behind the first ever head transplant.

“This procedure is another excellent example of how medical research, technical know-how and patient-centered care can be combined in the quest to relieve human suffering.”

The operation was led by Professor Myron Danus and took place on February 10th of this year.

“Our goal is for Horner to be fully functional in two years and so far we are very pleased by his rapid recovery,” said Danus. “Before the operation, Horner’s body was riddled with cancer and he had less than a month to live. We were fortunate enough to find a donor body; a 21-year-old man who has been brain dead from a serious car accident that happened in 2012. The boys body worked just fine, but his brain was not functioning whatsoever, and there was absolutely no chance of recovery.” Danus continued, “We received approval from the young man’s parents to use their sons body to do the operation. They were extremely happy their son could save a life even in the vegetated state that he was in.”

Doctors say Horner has made an 85% recovery; walking, talking and doing the normal things a healthy individual does.

The Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, nicknamed Joburg Gen is an accredited general hospital in Parktown, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. It has 1,088 beds. The hospital’s professional and support staff exceeds 4,000 people.

Even though Horner lives in the United States, the first-of-its-kind operation had to be done overseas in a location where the medical guidelines are not as strict.

PoliticsRe: 2015 Ultimate Test: The Board Of Directors Quiz. by searchcorp(op): 9:53am On Feb 26, 2015
I will go for Team B:

Why, this men have been tested and trusted, Tinubu grew his popularity from the only AD governor in the country to who he is now (beat that!). The APC governors listed performed wonderfully well in their time. I have a problem with Atiku. But come to think of it, he actually did put up a very brilliant social and digital media campaign team, IMHO one of the best ever in the history of this country. Bravo. I think he also knows how to source the right people for the job, he is sure a good strategist. Lai Mohammed as gone about this presidential campaign with maturity, unlike our Doyin Okupe who should be in jail right now for being a 'Cyber Bully', and Osibanjo, are you kidding me? That mad was a professor of Law at the age of 33. That does it for me.

Buhari 's Age seems to be a major concern; Lets look at it through the eyes of history. Adeneur of Germany was in his eighties when he restructured germany and saw her out of those terrible post world war II era, Charles De Gaulle came to power 12 years after he was rejected by his people for being a dictator, this time they begged him to come back seeing the supposed civilians had ruined france. He was in is 70s then too. As a matter of fact he ruled from his bedroom. He is one of the finest statesman ever, returned france to her previous glory. Winston Churchill, also rejected by his people after world war II, they said he wouldn't know anything about economic policies, since he was but a military man, he was begged to come back 8 years later, again after the civilians had almost ruined England. He strategically position England behind the United states, making them 2nd economic power. He was in his 80s then. (70s when called back though, late 70s I believe). Douglas MacArthur, You know him, common you should. He authored the famous speech (Old soldiers never die, they only fade away). Rule Japan as its first emperor along side Shigeru Yoshida, in his 70s. As a 70 year old man, he personally supervised the landing at Incheon and attack North Korea from both sides, one of the greatest war marvel in history. Shigeru Yoshia, Khrushchev and Brezhnev of russia, Mao, etc. These men all ruled their country in their 70s and 80s.

They were Men of great intuition and respect, they carried a presence of love and respect for their nation. They were great statesmen, Indeed the Father of their Nation and Tribe. Their country would have lost a gem if they had not been alive.

Fasoye should please take a History Class and stop spewing gibberish.

I end this with the note, FDR once wrote to Winston. "I am so glad to have served in history alongside a Man like you"
Politics2015 Ultimate Test: The Board Of Directors Quiz. by searchcorp(op): 9:28am On Feb 26, 2015
So for a while now I have been watching the polity get heated for the 2015 election. I spoke with a PDP chieftain, and a diplomat. The PDP chieftain seemed to have something intelligent to say. But the diplomat only kept complaining that she will lose her ambassadorial appointment should Jonathan lose. In her own words "I hope they don't use the card reader, let it better be business as usual. See my son, they are all criminals jare". I wasn't bought over. Then I spoke with an APC chieftain who also had a lot of intelligent things to say, although he was also concerned that Tinubu might have an hidden agenda.

For the records; Tinubu is everyone's problem both PDP and APC.{In my own eyes, Tinubu is the greatest politician of his time, and he will surely go down history as one. I love him!}

So I invented a Test. The ultimate test that should influence meaningful nigerians in the upcoming elections. Should we tell ourselves the truth. I named it the board of directors test.

The Test: If you have just started a company, and you need to choose your board of directors. Knowing how important this decision is to the future of your company, Nairalanders, please would you rather choose Team A (GEJ, Fayose, Doyin Okupe, Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, PEJ, FFk, Sambo, Obanikoro, Tony Anenih, Reno Omokri, NOI) or Team B (Buhari, Osinbanjo, Fashola, Lai Mohammed, Tinubu, Rotimi Ameachi, Kwakwanso, Atiku, Aregbesola, Oyegun, Oshiomole, Tambuwal). Well, think deeply whichever of the two team you would like to run you company. That's the team you should vote for!

I deliberately excluded the names of the two most performing ministers in GEJ's government; Akinwunmi Adesina - Minister for Agriculture and Olusegun Olutoyin Aganga - Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. Yes, they were not sourced for or chosen by GEJ, rather the two slots was made available to Baba (Obasanjo). Just like Buhari was the one who nominated Dora Akuyuili to Baba for NAFDAC. Baba has proven to us that he knows the right people for the job, just like he did with Ribadu, Soludo, El Rufai, Oby Ezekwesili, NOI (he even removed Ngozi from economic minister to foreign affairs, when she was done helping with the debt relief).

Please make your choice and tell us why.

Thanks.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria 2014 In Review - Epic Questions Begging For Answers by searchcorp(m): 10:38am On Dec 31, 2014

Answers:

1. Your president has a dirt poor background, he does not value human life and it means nothing that young graduates died. The same way the Chibok girls did not affect him. He is still shocked to this day that the world is making noise over about '200 ordinary girls' and a few 'job seekers that died looking for jobs'.

2. The pump price will not come down because the President is a half educated floozy sustained in office by the few billionaires who have bought and paid for him completely. When they have made another N1 trillion collectively they will hold a meeting and 'instruct' the FG to bring down the price.

3. Same answer, the government has levied an unfair tax on the people through the administration of the subsidy. Now this subsidy thing might land Dumbo and Dieziani in prison in the near future.

4. Yes, the budget is 91% recurrent and 9% capital expenditure. We are eating our future today. Meanwhile you Presidp does not know jack about the policy thrust, sectorial allocations and level of debt funding for the budget. For the second tome running he has refused to read it because half of his own party want to boo him in public. Meanwhile the idiot is running for elections in less than two months and still hopes to win.

5. Presidential Jets. - This is actually coming from lack of core values and inferiority complex. The sales men who market these jets are very connected. Most ex prime ministers in Europe, serving European prime ministers, us senators and so on pile pressure on governments on behalf of aerospace companies to buy the jets. A strong leader should be able to say no. Most executive jests in the presidential fleet are wasteful cost centers simply swelling the recurrent budget . The most interesting case is the air force NAF that has more executive jets and choppers than combat aircraft, they bought 7 executive jets and choppers last year when there were no planes to bombing Book Haram effectively.

6. Let us keep quiet about slashing salaries till after elections.

7. Farouk Lawan and Stella Oduah will be re prosecuted during the Bunari presidency. GEJ is keeping corrupt people close and will try to scare them into giving him support with the story that Buhari will jail them if/when he domes to power. However the overwhelming masses of the north want Buhari. The hold of the rich/big men who direct the almajiris where to vote was broken by the de mystification brought along by terrorist Boko Haram organization and the perceived involvement of many PDP governors, so most northern politicians may lose their loves if they oppose Bunari directly.

8. The immigration money will never be refunded.

To expand on (7), there is a real big problem in the north. If the elections are rigged against Buhari there would be a revolution the kind we have not seen before in Nigeria. So we should pray votes are not tampered with.
Dopeness.

In a recent survey of individuals with more than $5 million of net worth, it was found that they followed different people on Twitter than those with less wealth.

Who do they follow and what can we learn from this?

20% of the Ultra-wealthy follow athletes on Twitter, but this compares to 40% of less affluent individuals. Who do they follow instead?

45% follow political commentators, maybe Bill O'Reilly or similar types of commentators. 40% follow news commentators, maybe Peter Jennings or Diane Sawyer or Megan Kelly.

And 23% follow financial and investment commentators, compared to only 12% of the less affluent. And while 26% of the less affluent follow movie stars, only 8% of the ultra-wealthy care about what movie stars may tweet.

Maybe it's time to follow more financial commentators on Twitter!
