And the Obidients, too, but how can you prevail if you're not tough? It takes toughness to overthrow a state's long-reigning ruling party. Playing soft politics won't get you anywhere; I'm not advocating that he use violence, but as the expression goes, toughness is not rascality. I think GRV has good ideas, but he can't win now, no matter how much I like him.

His declaration that he would outlaw agberos, which is someone's means of subsistence, was, in my opinion, his biggest error. And that's the truth—they'll fight you until they have no more blood in them. When choosing his words, he would have exercised tact.

GRV is not a serious person. You seek to oust a party that has controlled a state in Nigeria for more than two decades from its position of authority, and hes behaving in a butty manner. When he returns the next time, he should be prepared and do his homework. No strategy or plan in place to influence the voting process. Ha! na! What about the'multi-level security' he claimed to provide? Or was he banking on the obviously partisan security agents?? Power is not given; it is taken, this is one of the most important laws of the universe. He has lost this elections!

The events of the 20th of October 2020 will forever be etched in the memories of Nigerians, as it was the day when innocent lives were taken by the very people who were supposed to protect them. It was a day of tears, pain, and sorrow, as families were shattered, and dreams were cut short.

As investigations into the tragic event continue, one fact has become clear: the soldiers responsible for the Lekki toll gate massacre were sent by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. This revelation has caused even more heartbreak and sadness for the families of the victims, as they now know that their loved ones were killed on the orders of someone they trusted.

The grief and anguish of the families are beyond words, as they struggle to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. The fact that the soldiers were sent by the Governor of Lagos State only adds insult to injury, as they expected him to protect them, not to be the one who ordered their deaths.

The tears of the families and loved ones of the victims are a constant reminder of the pain and suffering caused by the actions of those in power. The lives lost cannot be replaced, and the emotional scars will never fully heal. The people of Nigeria demand justice for the innocent lives taken, and for those responsible to be held accountable.

The people of Nigeria still mourn the loss of their loved ones and pray for justice to be served. The memory of the Lekki toll gate massacre will never be forgotten, and the tears shed by the families of the victims will never dry up. It is a tragic reminder of the fragility of life and the need for justice, accountability, and transparency in all aspects of governance.

The events of that night will never be forgotten by those who were there, or by anyone who followed the EndSARS movement. The tears of the families and loved ones of the victims will never dry up. The images of bloodstained streets and lifeless bodies will never be erased from memory.

The soldiers responsible for the heinous act were never held accountable. The families of the victims were left to mourn their loved ones in silence, with no closure or justice.

The EndSARS movement may have ended, but the memories of that fateful night will continue to haunt the people of Nigeria for a long time. It was a dark day in the country's history, and the wounds caused by the events of that night may never fully heal.

Dear Lagosians,

In 1980, Alhaji Lateef Jakande started the construction of the then non-existent Lekki-Epe Expressway, to connect the Eastern axis of Lagos State by road to the rest of Lagos.

By December 1983, when Muhammadu Buhari & his band i of coupists struck, he had completed it to up to 53km, at Ibeju-Agbe town.

Buhari ordered a stop to ALL development works in Lagos State, including the Metro Rail Line Project that had already been paid for in full, & the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Commodore Gbolahan Mudashiru, appointed Governor by Buhari, an indigene of Ikorodu, Lagos State, instead reduced the scope of the project to single carriageway and connected Ibeju-Lekki to Epe regardless.

In 2003/2004, Tinubu, from Iragbiji, in Osun State, signed the Lagos State PPP board. In 2006, he suddenly announced that LCC had "won" the concession for the Lekki-Epe Expressway, with no public or private bidding process, & the project was valued at ₦50b at the time.

He then also announced the transfer of 1500 hectares of prime, beach front land to Messrs ARM Ltd, gratis, as Lagos State's "contribution" to the funding of the Lekki-Epe Expressway "expansion" project. Lagos State was selling plots at Abijo Residential Scheme at the time at ₦5m per plot. The 22,500 plots at Lakowe would therefore cost about ₦67.5b, with a 40% discount off Abijo, just 10 minutes away.

Not long after, a $42m "mezzanine loan" was granted to LCC/ARM by LASG! Again, more state contribution to the ostensibly "private" project.

The concession agreement grants sweeping powers to LCC, & is reminiscent of colonial "protectorate" agreements in its letter and its spirit, but that was always the intention, as we have seen over time.

The Lakowe land was used as collateral for a $340m syndicated loan, provided in tranches of $85m each by UBA Capital (Elumelu - now you understand the "Prezzdential" visit), Stanbic IBTC, Standard Bank of South Africa and African Development Bank (years before Akinwunmi Adeshina).

Tolling began when construction barely reached km 6, and the construction remains UNCOMPLETED till date. 17 years under construction, for a dual carriageway that was at 53km within 3 years, FORTY YEARS AGO!

I keep hearing 4th Mainland Bridge, at almost ₦1 trillion as of 2019. With the devaluation of the ₦ since then, we're looking easily at over ₦1 trillion now, plus another 20 years to complete, based on their record on Lekki-Epe Expressway, plus 50 years tolling, and the near complete demolition of Ikorodu, Badore and parts of Lekki from behind the Lagos Business School.

If you still vote for APC in Lagos State after reading this, you deserve everything that will surely befall you if they win.

Postscript: At the height of Tolling of Lekki-Epe Expressway & Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, a certain individual was earning a fantastic sum running into hundreds of millions DAILY in CASH. Now you understand the kerfuffle surrounding the new notes.

You also understand the why of the LekkiTollGateMassacre

Politics › The Lagosian Perspective On Sanwo-olu's Leadership Style by Searching03(op): 12:53pm On Mar 16, 2023
It is crucial to keep in mind that the election will take place in a few days and that the media is working hard to whitewash Gov. Babajide Sanwolu, the All progressive candidate for the Lagos State Governorship election. However, I stand to be corrected that Sanwolu has failed Lagosians. He is a master showman and a leader who believes in Propaganda and Tokenism. He adores “eye service” and “Picture opportunity”.

Traffic congestion, flooding, the Agbero menace, the dirtiness problem, and the housing problem are the five main issues facing Lagos State, which he has neglected to handle for the past four years and, if I may say so, the “blue-print” has failed to address it for the past 20 years, despite the efforts of BRF and AA.

As Sanwolu appears to have fallen short of his predecessors, he has perfected the art of tokenism. He hasn't taken any action in the past four years to address Lagos's major problems. The traffic congestion has become a norm.

What about the flooding? They will claim that it is caused by global warming and if it rains for a short period of time, everything will be under water. Like I stated, he's a superb showman, but he hasn't been able to finish any of the projects he's started; instead, he only works on them for the publicity. People might spend hours traveling along the Lekki-Epe route down from the Awoyaya axis since he started the so-called extension in preparation for the electioneering period, but they are moving as slowly as a snail. The administration could have just easily fixed the road earlier, but instead he wanted the road to grow so terrible that it would coincide with electioneering period so that he would send in contractor in like a hero. How much longer will continue like this as a state? Government “Servants” are intended to complete projects since it is their responsibility, not a favor to the people!

So let's talk about the fourth mainland bridge, another showman project from a governor who took 4 years to construct a modest bridge but now promises to complete a 48Km bridge. That's just so funny!

Why would a governor commission a project that wasn't used yesterday and won't even be used in the following three months if it weren't for wickedness and politicking ? You're all aware of the Blue Rail project, which has been in the works for over ten years, it has been used a vehicle for stealing tax payers money; the government claims that $1.17 billion has been spent thus far.

Since the Agberos are an extension of the government, it is obvious that the government is doing nothing to stop them from harassing traders, bus drivers, and law-abiding Lagosians. A time will come they will soon start harassing law-abiding lagosians for walking. The Agberos are having a field day in Lagos State.

Since car thefts were becoming more common, the governor advised drivers to wind up their glasses as a solution to it. Isn’t that funnyhuh
In order to get attention, he staged a car theft arrest a week after he had said this. Like I mentioned, he is a brilliant showman.

ENDSARS, which resulted in the loss of of lives of young Nigerians. We all know what happened after he asked the military to intervene while pretending to back the youths when in reality he was against them. The ENDSARS protest took place in the majority of Southern Nigerian cities, but only Lagos recorded the murders of young Nigerians, these are young law-abiding Nigerians calling for a more accountable security establishment. They initially claimed that no one perished; later, they said that a few people perished; and last, they claimed to have no knowledge of the military action. If you can't guarantee the safety of your citizens, why are you the state's Chief Security Officer?

Do you want to discuss the flooding situation? What has been done to address the flooding issue? It's global warming, they claim. That would be the situation, and the water would respond by fighting back when developers built on natural gutters. What about the gutters? They are all blocked and not maintained.

Some people will mention the Imota rice, but I haven't seen a grain of it in the market since its introduction. A very small number of people use public funds to launch government ventures that they have a huge stake in. Every effort that does not alleviate the pain of the average person is meaningless. If the average person cannot purchase Imota rice for a lot less than what a foreign rice sells for, then the enterprise or endeavor is meaningless. All they do is export and keep the money for themselves rather than putting it into the government coffers.

What is the government doing about the rising cost of homes, there’s no more affording housing. Then what is in it for the common manhuh When Canadian real estate prices reached a certain level, the prime minister intervened and introduced policies to lower the cost. Due to their involvement in showmanship and propaganda, the current leadership has lost touch with the populace.

I'd rather support a young, compassionate leader who has sympathy for his people and has basic, doable plans for how things should be done, rather than one with public service or corruption experience. As with our own Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Alhaji Lateef Jakande. The best leaders in history had little to no experience in the public service/ corruption experience .One of the greatest prime ministers of the United Kingdom, Winston Churchill. Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau, and one of the largest economies in the world, run by Emmanuel Macron, these great leaders had no prior experience in public service/ corruption experience but had a great deal of love and compassion for their people. Love they say is the greatest gift of all!

How can someone from another state come to claim Lagos, do whatever he feels is appropriate, and enthrone members of other clans? giving himself and his friends control of the state's commonwealth. As long as they are connected to him, he permits members of other tribes to run in Lagos elections as he sees suitable. We are prepared to reclaim our state!

We have seen how ur people advised Edo to get free from Godfatherism.. Today Edo is regretting. Now they want to be like lagos.. They people who can't put a reasonable Government in southeast is telling lagos where they run to for survival how to put lagos in order. Since you know why don't u apply all u know on development to the southeast and stop receiving insults from North and southwest.. Now I know why Benin people chased ndigbo from benin empire, they might have wanted to take oba from benins nd they had zo send back.. Make ndigbo go develop southeast and let yorubas take care of Lagos.. Stop being covetous.. It doesn't end well
The advantage of eliminating god-fatherism is that. Due to the Governor of Edo's poor performance, he is aware that his time is running out. But if he had been devoted to Oshiomhole, he would have continued to choose successors regardless of what he had done, whether it had been good or bad. When you are enthroned by the people, they have the option to remove you if you disappoint them. With godfatherism, that is not the case.
Politics › How Tinubu Is Milking And Under-developing Lagos State by Searching03(op): 11:00am On Mar 12, 2023
God-fatherism is a political term that refers to a system in which an influential person, known as a godfather, wields significant control over the political decisions of a region or state. In Nigeria, one of the most prominent examples of god-fatherism is the case of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President elect.

Background
Tinubu became the Governor of Lagos State in 1999, shortly after Nigeria returned to democracy following years of military rule. He served two terms as Governor, during which he made significant strides in infrastructure development, urban renewal, and economic growth. However, towards the end of his second term, Tinubu began to consolidate his power in Lagos by creating a network of loyalists who owed their political careers to him.

Over the years, this network has grown in size and influence, and Tinubu has become the de facto godfather of Lagos politics. His control over the state has been so absolute that he has been able to determine who becomes the Governor of Lagos since he left office in 2007

The Effects of God-fatherism on Lagos

While Tinubu's god-fatherism has helped him maintain political dominance in Lagos, it has had dire consequences for the state's development and welfare.

Here are a few ways in which Tinubu's god-fatherism has been destroying and milking Lagos:

1. Underdevelopment of the state
One of the most significant ways in which Tinubu's god-fatherism has been destroying Lagos is through the underdevelopment of the state. Because Tinubu's loyalists owe their political careers to him, they are more concerned with maintaining his grip on power than with the development of the state. As a result, many critical infrastructure projects have been neglected, leading to poor road networks, inadequate health care, and substandard public schools.

2. Corruption
Tinubu's god-fatherism has also led to widespread corruption in Lagos. Because his loyalists control most of the state's resources, they have been able to siphon off funds meant for development projects and enrich themselves. This has led to a situation where Lagos, one of the wealthiest states in Nigeria, has some of the highest levels of poverty in the country.

3. Lack of Accountability
Another way in which Tinubu's god-fatherism has been destroying Lagos is through the lack of accountability of public officials. Because Tinubu's loyalists control the state's political machinery, they are rarely held accountable for their actions. This has led to a culture of impunity, where public officials are free to engage in corrupt practices without fear of consequences.

4. Politicization of Government Agencies
Tinubu's god-fatherism has also led to the politicization of government agencies in Lagos. Many of the state's agencies and parastatals are staffed by loyalists of Tinubu, who use their positions to enrich themselves and further the interests of their godfather. This has led to a situation where the state's resources are diverted to the benefit of a few individuals, rather than the wider public.

The god-fatherism of Tinubu is destroying and milking Lagos. His control over the state has led to the underdevelopment of critical infrastructure, widespread corruption, lack of accountability, and the politicization of government agencies. If Lagos is to fulfill its potential as a world-class city, then it must break free from the grip of Tinubu's god-fatherism and adopt a more inclusive, transparent, and accountable system.

Politics › How Agberos Have Become So Powerful In Lagos State by Searching03(op): 8:00pm On Mar 11, 2023
Agberos, or street touts, are a common sight in Lagos. They are known for their aggressive tactics, which include extorting money from commercial drivers and harassing passengers and traders. Despite the fact that they are often associated with violence and criminal activity, agberos have become incredibly powerful in Lagos.

Here are some reasons why agberos have become so powerful in Lagos:

1. Political connections: Agberos have long been known to have ties to politicians in Lagos. These connections give them access to resources and protection from law enforcement. In return, agberos provide political parties with muscle and support during elections.

2. Control of transport unions: Agberos are often associated with transport unions, which they control through violence and intimidation. By controlling transport unions, agberos are able to extort money from drivers and passengers, which provides them with a steady stream of income.

3. Weak law enforcement: The Nigerian police force is often ineffective in dealing with agberos, who are known for their violent tactics. This weakness allows agberos to operate with impunity, further cementing their power in Lagos.

4. Lack of alternatives: In many parts of Lagos, the presence of agberos is seen as a necessary evil. They are often viewed as the only way to maintain order and security in areas where the government has failed to provide these services.

5. Poverty and unemployment: Lagos is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, and unemployment rates are high. Agberos often come from poor backgrounds and see their work as a means of survival. This has led to a situation where agberos are seen as an inevitable part of the urban landscape.

In Lagos, agberos have risen to prominence thanks to a mix of political ties, control over the transport unions, lax law enforcement, a lack of alternatives, and poverty and unemployment. Even though they are frequently linked to crime and violence, they have ingrained themselves significantly into the social and economic structure of the city. A multifaceted strategy that targets the underlying causes of their power and offers options for individuals who are already employed as agberos is necessary to address this issue.

Politics › The Menace Of Agberos In Lagos by Searching03(op): 7:12pm On Mar 11, 2023
Agbero is a term commonly used to refer to touts or street urchins who engage in various illegal activities such as extortion, violence, and harassment of commuters in public transportation hubs, markets, and motor parks. Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, has been plagued by the menace of agbero for decades, and despite several efforts to curb their activities, they continue to thrive.

The activities of agberos in Lagos have become a significant threat to public safety, and it is high time that the government and other stakeholders took decisive steps to address this problem. We will exploring the menace of agberos in Lagos, the factors that contribute to their proliferation, and the possible solutions to this problem.

The Proliferation of Agberos in Lagos

The phenomenon of agberos in Lagos is not new. It is a product of the socioeconomic conditions that have prevailed in the city over the years. Lagos is a densely populated city with inadequate infrastructure, high unemployment, and poverty. These conditions have made it easy for young people to fall into the trap of agberos. Many of them have dropped out of school and have no means of livelihood. They see agberoism as a quick way to make money, and they often work in gangs.
The activities of agberos in Lagos are not limited to just motor parks or public transportation hubs. They have also infiltrated markets, bus stops, and other public places where they extort money from traders, commuters, and other passersby. They often use force and intimidation to carry out their activities, and they are known to be violent and dangerous.

The Impact of Agberoism on Lagosians

The activities of agberos have a significant impact on the daily lives of Lagosians. Commuters who use public transportation are often subjected to harassment and intimidation. Agberos extort money from them, and those who refuse to pay are sometimes beaten or rough-handled. Traders and market women are not spared either. They are often forced to pay illegal levies, and those who refuse are sometimes assaulted or their goods destroyed.

The impact of agberoism on the economy of Lagos cannot be overemphasized. It has led to the loss of millions of naira in revenue for the government, as many traders and transport operators are forced to pay illegal levies to the agberos. The activities of agberos have also scared away investors who are wary of the security situation in the city.

Possible Solutions to the Menace of Agberos in Lagos

The menace of agberos in Lagos requires urgent attention from the government and other stakeholders. The following are some of the possible solutions to this problem:

1. Enforcement of existing laws: There are existing laws that prohibit the activities of agberos in Lagos. However, these laws are not enforced. The government needs to ensure that the laws are enforced and that those who violate them are brought to justice.

2. Empowerment of young people: One of the reasons why many young people fall into the trap of agberoism is the lack of opportunities. The government and other stakeholders should create job opportunities and provide skills acquisition programs for young people.

3. Creation of alternative revenue sources: The government should create alternative revenue sources for transport operators and traders. This will reduce their dependence on the agberos and minimize their impact on the economy.

4. Public enlightenment: The government should embark on public enlightenment programs to sensitize the public on the dangers of agberoism. This will help to reduce their activities and create a safer environment for everyone.

Conclusion
The menace of agberos in Lagos is a significant threat to public safety and the economy of the city. The government and other stakeholders must take decisive steps to address this problem. The solutions to this problem require a multi-sectoral approach, and all hands must be on deck to ensure that Lagosians can go about their daily lives without fear of harassment or intimidation from agberos. It is time to put an end to this menace and create a safer and more prosperous Lagos for all.
