Image purportedly showing modified AAM (Archer/ R-73E) fired by Yemen's Houthis attacking Saudi Arabian F-15. The Eagle was hit by shrapnel but made it back to base in southern Saudi Arabia.
P.S.: Though unconfirmed, it seems the missile hit a flare.

nemesis4u: summer is gone waiting for the winter
once winter sets in everybody will have to retreat or get frozen solid
ind..ns r praying to the winter gods more regularly now
all kinds of intel is involved , decision of moving 100000-200000 troops to forward locations is not taken lightly since it takes heavy toll on equipment's, men and drains millions of dollars.
also if u send men to those altitudes without acclimatization, the men will fall sick or simply die .
in mountain warfare the guys in question r top class , majority r naturally attuned to mountain warfare as they comes from mountainous regions eg. dogras gorkhas nagas garhwalis etc
only problem is fuucked industrial capability to sustain battlefield losses.
let me share a anecdote about the fuuckery of the nagas
on the western border , outposts r manned by army units. and these units r rotated
so some years ago a operational area got a new unit from the naga regiment .
opposite to the units outposts lies the enemy outpost, every time a new unit comes it they r greeted by heavy artillery shelling and firing so that mental domination can be achieved.
the nagas kept quite becz they r kind of lazy
but some days later 2 enemy soldiers sneaked in and lobbed grenades into the field kitchen while the men were eating .
nobody was hurt . this was again repeated.
now some of the nagas laid a ambush of the possible infiltration routes and managed to capture 2 of them .
they then tied the 2 prisoners to a tree, lit a fire and performed a traditional Naga dance
Then they chopped a leg off one of the Paki soldiers and literally barbecued it over the fire.
both the enemy soldiers were let off the next morning, but not before the were made to hear this dialogue between a Naga Havildar and a Sepoy: Sepoy: "Ustaad, inko rakhte hain, bilkul chicken jaisa taste hai." (Soldier says "Boss, let's keep these two here. They taste exactly like chicken"
Havildar: "Nahi re, inko jaane do, yeh dono bahut kamjor hain. Ab yahan 3 saal rehna hai; tu tension mat le, aur bahut mote tagde milenge." (Sergeant replies "NO, Let them go. They are too weak.We have to stay for 3 more years here. Be relaxed. We will get fatter specimens to eat)
This news spread like wildfire, and the enemy (Bal**h Regiment) across the LOC were thereafter not to be seen even through binoculars, till the naga unit was replaced by another unit after 3 years.
well they got a reputation to maintain after all they r one of the two worlds only head hunting tribes. Classic! |
