No internal bomb bay right? I guess this version will have more space inside then. I wonder what that extra space will be used for. More fuel capacity? Additional equipment?
nemesis2u: there are trillions of galaxies in this universe each with billions of planetary star systems. Even if 1% of this gargantuan number has a planet in the Goldilocks zone (meaning an ideal orbit around the sun like our own Earth, suitably located for having the ingredients for potential life to exist) then that would mean billions of planets that could harbor life. Out of these, even if a fraction of such planets had advanced intelligent life, then there could be more advanced civilizations partying around the universe than all the grains of sand on earth!!
The universe as per scientific theory is about 15 billion years old. Our own Solar System came into being just about 3.5 billion years ago. There naturally would be star systems that came into existence millions if not billions of years before the formation of the Solar System. What does that mean? There could therefore be extremely advanced cultures millions of years ahead of us in technology which would seem magic to us. And for them, roaming the universe would be like taking a walk in the park!
Then there’s the Kardashev scale which was originally designed in 1964 by the Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev (who was looking for signs of extraterrestrial life within cosmic signals). It has 3 base classes, each with an energy disposal level: Type I (10¹⁶W), Type II (10²⁶W), and Type III (10³⁶W).
A Type I designation is given to species who have been able to harness all the energy that is available from their star, gathering and storing it to meet the energy demands of a growing population. This means that we would need to boost our current energy production over 100,000 times to reach this status!
However, being able to harness all Earth’s energy would also mean that we could have control over all natural forces. Human beings could then control volcanoes, the weather, and even earthquakes! (At least, that is the idea.) These kinds of feats are hard to believe, but compared to the advances of Type II and Type III civilizations, these are just basic and primitive levels of control (it’s absolutely nothing compared to the capabilities of societies with higher rankings).
Other astronomers have extended the scale to Type IV (10⁴⁶W) and Type V (the energy available to this kind of civilization would equal that of all energy available in not just our universe, but in all universes and in all time-lines). These additions consider both energy access as well as the amount of knowledge and hyper advanced technology these civilizations have access to. A point to ponder is whether the quasars we have discovered are actually space engineering being done by a Type III civilization?
but we Earthlings are not even at level 0.1 in the Kardashev scale!! Achieving a Type I status would probably take us a few thousand years more!
So, could they have visited earth some time in the past or even visiting us at present? That would remain a million dollar question until they land publicly for all of us to see
The sophistication a civilization attains is directly tied to one major factor: Energy Capture (not the only factor though). And the primary source of energy in our solar system is our nearest star - our Sun.
Hoping to see mankind build a Dyson Sphere in my lifetime but realistically speaking I doubt if it will happen in the next 100 years. The scale of such an operation is humongous.
But never say never in science and tech. Who knows if AI will come to our rescue. About 80% of some Kurzweilian predictions in the last half century has been accomplished. Oh! The marvel of the Kardashev scale.
Image below is a representation of what the Japanese space agency aims to achieve. We may not be able at this point in our history to build structures round our Sun (Dyson Sphere) but we can capture solar energy in earth orbit, convert it into microwave and then beam it down to a receiver on earth. So the Japanese think.
nemesis2u: the thing is " respect begets respect "
it is universal be it in real life or in cyber space. and some of the posters forget this.......
also some people dont realize that technology/knowledge is a work in progress , it is not static
if today a country X has better technology, tomorrow a country Y will/may end up with better technology. so whats the point in insulting and deriding the efforts of other countries ?
only these people ( except for self proclaimed defense experts ) can claim that a weapon system X is better than a weapon system Y
1.the end user (army air force navy........etc)
2.people who r part of the development, testing and evaluation team of the said weapon system and they still will be struggling to make a comparison unless backed by strong espionage effort in order to gain access to the weapon system against whom the comparison is to be made.
3.people who r proficient in evaluation of weapon system through their vast working experience spanning across multiple domains (a software guy involved in coding the algorithms for an RF seeker will have zero knowledge about the aerodynamical flight performance of the said weapon system etc etc ). such people r rare , and their evaluations r most of time classified for internal military use only.
lastly TRUTH is the first casualty when it comes to humans and when it comes to cyber space the problem is only more ENDEMIC
funny thing about TRUTH is, that it is subjective depends on the viewer and is always influenced by the viewer
eg. (viewer/reader discretion advised NSFW)
u got a naked girl in a semi dark room
one person X gets to see the back portion (as luck would have it , he has a ass fetish ) his most probable comment/view : she has a nice big ass
one person Y gets to see the front portion (as luck would have it , he has a boob fetish ) his most probable comment/view : she has a nice big boob
one person Z gets to see the leg portion (as luck would have it , he has a leg fetish ) his most probable comment/view : she has a nice sexy legs
now one person A gets to get close with girl and he feels her all over his comment : fuucck this is not a girl this is fuuking sexdoll
persons X, Y, Z r at best represent the behavior of the internet experts/fanboys /jignoistic trolls etc person A represents the behavior of the person/people who has hands on experience and r in the loop regarding whatever their r concerned with.
moral of the whole narrative/essay plus the sexy story be cool with ur opinion and importantly others opinion too, in real life our opinions in cyber space count shiit. and therefor keep ur negative opinions about products/countries etc to urself becz it is a wastage of effort and a poor reflection on ur personal bearing.
Perspectives, opinions, facts, experience etc. You never fail to impress me.
PS: Congratulations to India for putting into space 104 satellites with a single rocket launch...with just 1 rocket. This is no small feat. (3rd image).
nemesis2u: thanks for this interesting info did not know about it
real world human jet pack project. really interesting , wonder if any country is still interested in it ?
Private individuals are the current drivers of this technology. Of course governments, like the US government, invested substantially in jet pack technology but its inherent limitations still restricted its application. I mean you can only load so much fuel/propellant on a jet pack attached to a human which consumes fuel/propellant fast.
To even get concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide for the Hydrogen Peroxide powered packs is a major headache.
On a side note; may the memory of Wendell Moore be blessed for his contributions to this and other Aerospace technologies.
nemesis2u: Poeir Jets Indian pvt company portfolio of micro and small jet engines
Reminds me of how the US took the miniature jet engine technology from a scrapped human jet pack project and integrated it into an unmanned platform and BOOM! ...the Tomahawk cruise missile was born
Henry240: The boats were ordered in 2015, I know one of the admirals who visited Ocea in France. When they were ordered Karaduwa was still under construction.
The Nigerian Navy is building a bigger SDB, so, no sweat. There are also smaller John Holt Nigeria Patrol boats under construction. 20 units or so.
The Navy is truly making us proud with their acquisition tempo. Wish the same vibe could infect the Airforce too.
