Yonce:No counter opinion, no logical engagement.... just insults . The truth does hurt!!! |
so much abominations on this thread! Oponunaldo better than Leo? ![]() With no iota of bias, I think the world seeks to keep a rivalry between messi and oponunaldo, probably not to get bored by a single player dominating the ballon d'or charts. people claim oponunaldo is hardworking, relentless, bla bla... messi is just talented... Horse shit! Talented players like ozil, quaresma, Ben arfa, and co...where are they today? Talent without hardwork can never result to extraordinariness! Messi is just talented but not hardworking? spits!!! Messi has been Barca's highest goal scorer since 2008 till date every season bar 2015/2016 when Suarez beat him to it. He played alongside super talents like Henry, villa, Neymar, ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Suarez o... and still outscored, outperformed them all. Why would any sane person think messi doesn't put as much work on the pitch as oponunaldo? Talking about talents, and overall pitch performance... some people say oponunaldo turned up when it most mattered... spits!!! Take oponunaldo from real Madrid.... they would still be real Madrid. Take messi from barca, barca would be arsenal!!! He has always been the difference between good and great, barca was a good team with the likes of xavi and co...but messi was and is still the defining mojo. How many times has messi had to save Barca's ass this season, and before? How many times as he ripped the heart of the best defenses? He fails to do it against juve (after creating 3 clearcut chances for iniesta and Suarez in the first leg), and the world says he didn't turn up when he was supposed to... such insolence! Oponunaldo no doubt deserves the ballon d'or (based on media sentiments though, and due to UCL victory). His hardwork, persistence, and relentlessness to keep up with messi perhaps blinds the football world as to who is the greatest between he and messi. Perhaps the world sympathizes with him, and decides to give him credit for not giving up in his pursuit of messi.... For persons who say oponunaldo started as a dribbler, dribbling and team influence isn't the same! Messi just coordinates Barca's game, especially in the final third... and he even does it from the middle of the pitch. I can bet me balls, messi would create assist as a goal keeper. You see his vision and pass accuracy, and wonder if Zeus himself was on the pitch. In a honesty, the only thing I know oponunaldo does well is to score goals. If football was all about goals, then it would suffice that all players were strikers! Oponunaldo's quest for matching messi is actually commendable, because he only has tried to come close...but unfortunately, he is still centuries away. Maybe the world sees his quest and appreciates it by saying he's the greatest... but in our hearts of hearts, and at the end of time...we do know that football will always be defined by messi. Not maradona, or Pele, or Oponunaldo... but messi |
Let's hope Ernesto is Cruyffian

Chelseafan1:In the football context, I would say over hyping a player is to rate his abilities (overall play, and career stat) as good enough to contend for the ballon d'or (whether as a ready made,or as prodigy) when clearly, that player's abilities doesn't measure up. |
Chelseafan1:I don't like him too for his occasional stupidity....but I have to say he isn't over hyped. If hazard himself isn't over hyped, then Neymar isn't. |
sebod:He cannot and will not answer the question. Dude is obsessed with trolling Neymar upandan |
bykebyke: ![]() I know you just trolling... But biitch should never be a metaphor to mother ![]() No offense meant |
See oponunaldo supporters oozing on this thread... ![]() Let's go back in history small... 2009/2010 season, barca swaps eto'o for zlatan... Inter eliminates barca and wins the UCL, so eto'o wins it! 2016/2017, barca sells alves to juventus... Juve eliminates barca and reaches final... Déjà vu? ![]() |

agrovick:You still don't get my point. Pedro was a starter alongside David Villa and messi...wasn't he? At some point Guardiola added Alexis... Then villa was then sold again. At that point, Pedro and Alexis were starting in Barca's first XI... Even when fabregas was bought, he was usually being subbed in at first. But when Neymar came in, he came in as a starter... Pedro's place became seriously under threat because even Alexis was somewhat preferred to him... The way the whole thing ended was that MSN became starters, and Pedro and co became options on the bench. From starter to rotation player, is that promotion or demotion? If Pedro was never a starter to start with, then this argument would never be valid. But since he had a starting shirt, and barca bought his replacement....he became a reject! This isn't rocket science is it? Except you sha want to overflog this issue |
bykebyke:Bro, Roberto has been better than Gomez, Dennis, mascherano, iniesta this season. The stats prove it! Squawks has a rating of team players I think |
agrovick:So since your years of watching football, you don't the difference between when a player is bought for back up and when a player is bought as a starter.Fabregas was the heralded heir to xavi..and even while he played, he majorly played midfield alongside xavi while iniesta was deployed to that left wing. Barca bought neymar the following season and the whole set up was disrupted... Pedro and alexis were fighting for the right wing...and since xavi and iniesta were preferred in the middle, Fabregas became a reject!!! Paco alacacer, Denis, Gomez, digne, and even umtiti are were bought as second options...not as starters!!! The only starters barca brought in were Neymar, Suarez, rakitic! Hence, the players formerly holding those positions were offloaded. We know it's good to have quality squad depth.. But when a better replacement is brought in for a starter, that starter better finds another club, else he will rot on the bench! |
bykebyke:Messi Roberto Iniesta RW, AM, CM, RB D |
hensben:Why are you embarrassing your ancestors? |
agrovick:If Barcelona wanted Pedro or Sanchez, why did they sign Neymar and Luis Suarez? Why didn't they sign any player to replace messi? Sanchez and Pedro are very good players by their standards, but Barcelona's pedigree requires nothing bar exceptional. It's different when a player has fully played the best of his career with a club and then sold to clubs that will spoil them with money (xavi, Lampard, drogba, e.t.c). But when a player still has ample time in his footballing career, and a better replacement is brought in for that player... He is a reject of that club!!! If he was much needed there would be no need for a better replacement. It's quite simple bro |

hensben:Sighs! No bale was not world class. He is still not world class. He is not even the greatest Welsh player. Please stop quoting me, I have better things to do. |
Chelseafan1:I know say my matter don tire you ![]() No worry, we go jam for UCL next season. ![]() |
Chelseafan1:I didn't deviate from the topic o jare... Barca and Madrid play in the serie A abi? No be laliga dem dey? ![]() What makes CR7 established at that age that didn't make Modric and Bale established, better explain. So you would say Modric and bale were world class players while in Tottenham? Smh ... I no go even talk... Are you missing the point? Bale and Modric started in Spurs as youths just like Pedro started with Barca, they are already developed players, Bale won the YPFA when he was regarded as a youth and also won the PFA which means he was no longer a youth, get your facts right. Abi u go call Pedro, Sanchez and Ozil developing players when when they moved to the EPL? Cos I no understand you.Pedro, Sanchez, ozil became excess loads...and were liga rejects. They got shipped off to your EPL. Besides Pedro who came from the lamasia, Sanchez and ozil were brought in from feeder leagues (udineze and Bremen). Cr7, modic, and bale were also supply players from your EPL... . If na Rashford, Mbappe una sign or any under 23 player, na doz ones still dey develop. No EPL player is rated world class at the moment by FIFA. As far as I'm concerned, all of them are still developing ![]() What has this got to do with the discussion we are having? He is a star player already, Madrid wants him, Zidane wants him, he is playing alongside olodos like Matic and Costa in the EPL, his status will change if he plays alongside CR7, Modric, Ramos, Marcelo and other Star players in a team that has won the UCL more than 10 times already compared to a Chelsea team that has won it only once. ![]() Star player? Ordinary pfa, kante beat him to it... Abeg talk better thing ![]() So, I don't know what your point really is broPoint is EPL is a feeder league. Case closed ![]() |
bigkesh:Why are EPL fans all the same? If I check your posts now, it will be obvious you're a shekpite, or better still an e-rat. English clubs feed real Madrid and Barcelona!!! Madrid particularly takes pleasure in tapping your made in EPL players and taking them to the world's biggest stage... Ask Mr dayo for more details! On the other hand, players who aren't desired again are shipped off to the EPL and they become gods there. ![]() |
hensben: ![]() Ignominious cvnt! |
hensben: ![]() You name it... You know it all sheybi? Tell me liga clubs that made bids for Pedro...or be forever silent |
Chelseafan1:Whether you agree or not... Barcelona and real Madrid are dream clubs for any sane player including EPL stars. Apart from Ronaldo, I beg to disagree that bale and modric were established. Of course, your EPL media hyped the life outta bale, and Madrid broke the bank for him... As for modric, he wouldn't dare dream of FIFA pro if he was still playing for Tottenham. You would also agree that cr7, bale, modric spent long years playing in English teams before they became regular starters... Isn't thay what player development/ nurturing means? Suarez's case is quite different though. Hazard is already 26, and all EPL rats are wailing for Madrid to sign him (but he's not among top five players according to FIFA). You would agree that his status could potentially change if he moves to Madrid as a ballondor favorite...Hope you get the point I know say you don win league so you get mouth... Anyway see you next UCL season |
usbcable: ![]() Weyrey. Boys are just vexed at Enrique for his nonsense. Besides, I think your EPL needs more attention since your clubs have been swallowing Ls in European competitions of late. Leave us and our thread ![]() |
Chelseafan1:Look, your EPL acts as a feeder league to Barcelona and real Madrid. All these folks you mentioned are like talents that are nurtured in EPL for the big boys... ![]() On the other hand... Rejects from the big boys are swamped by your EPL teams like ants hustling for sugar... See how they were salivating over ozil, Alexis, Pedro, and co... ![]() |
hensben:I was just waiting for one of you EPL rats to quote me. Why didn't any liga club attempt to sign Pedro after he failed to extend his contract? Neymar and Suarez's signing showed the intention of the club that Pedro's place was meant for the bench... Just like Alexis and a host of other liga players who are bossing your EPL. In addition, you always claim professional football know it all... Below is one of your post that assumes Neymar can only be rated above hazard if he plays in your overrated EPL. I wonder how someone with such knowledge will rate a player's quality by league and not by individual performances. Ignominious ignoramus! hensben: |
