Please advice that guy to go and save his monthly 50k salary and take care of himself. Any car you will buy on that salary will gulp your whole monthly salary in maintenance.
My advice is for him to upgrade and get a new job that will pay him well to drive a better car or continue saving as civil servant. Austerity measures will be taken over Nigeria and soon most government offices will be finding it difficult to pay salaries. I hope you take this advice to your friend.

victor, my friend have saved up to 750k to buy a car. secondly there are people with the less salary that owns a car.
from my experience, I own two cars. one is Toyota carina e wagon (my delight) and the second is golf 3 wagon. I use the carine e every day, ranging from school runs to office things. the car is 18 months with me now and I even bought it used. I have never spent 15k on that car in any month since purchase. I service it once in 3 months and I spend 8k on fuel monthly.
so your believe that my friend cannot buy a car is far lie.

As an addition to what abrahamolusoji said earlier;

Peugeot 406 is relatively cheap in terms of maintenance. It uses two version of engines (black top approx 80k) and (aluminium top about 170k prestige version).

The body parts are also cheap and available together with the suspension though not all.

It is a strong vehicle and kind of charges faster on longer journeys.


My only headache with it is that it is very rare to get it in Auto drive unless the one converted here in Nigeria . For ruggedity and fuel economy, it is very ok.

many people is of the opinion that when 406 reaches 180k mille, it will start developing electrical fault hence many try to sell it off before such problems.

Just as u said; low fuel consumption and availability of spareparts. Peug 406 should be his prime choice not audi or otherwise he'll drive a car a month in a year and save up for 11 months for repair bills cos German vehicles could be unpredictable at times in maintenance costs.

A friend of mine who is a civil servant with a salary of 50k per month desire to acquire any of these cars but he is having challenges making a choice. All he desires is low fuel consumption, availability of spare and low cost of spare parts. to enable him pick any of these cars. please advice him on the right choice please..

my brother. I understand ur situation. just look around where u are and u will definitely get something good. last year I was in the same page but one day on my way back from work in a nearby mechanic workshop. I came across Toyota carina e wagon going for 250k. I met with the owner and finally we agreed at 230k. The mechanic that went with me adviced me against the car but I still went on and made the payment. the things that needed replacement were brain box which cost 10k, 2plug cable 2k, shaft 7k, front shock 7k. the car is 1year 6 months now and I have not spent a kobo more rather than fuel and normal service. I also travelled from Kaduna to Onitsha with the car on two occasions. so forget people that will discourage u. another advice is go for a Toyota product.

Makurdi - The Head, Clinical Service, Madonna Hospital, Makurdi, Dr. Martha Ochoga, said one Senenge Agbanyi, who was born with ineffective anus has had a successful operation in the hospital.
Briefing newsmen in Makurdi on Friday, Ochoga confirmed that the first phase of the operation was successful.
She added that the second phase was planned a few months from now.
She explained that the situation of the baby was caused as a result of congenital malformation during the pregnancy.
"We have already treated similar cases here successfully, but his situation was very clear, he had an ineffective anus at birth".
"There was no opening for him to ease himself thus he needed the operation as soon as possible", she said.
She disclosed that the baby was in good condition, adding that the surgical team was keeping close attention on the patient.
The baby is only six days old.
The father of the baby, Mr. Titus Agbanyi, said that the baby was delivered on October 17 at Tse Gndi, Guma local government area, without an anus.
"My wife gave birth on October 17 at Tse Gndi in Guma local government area. Few hours later we discovered that the baby was without an anus and needed surgical operation".
"Raising the funds for the operation was very hard as we are trying to recover from an attach in our area that destroyed everything we had.
"We came to the hospital only to be told that an initial deposit of N50,000 must be paid to commence the first phase of the operation.
"We were about to be discharged when another patient in the hospital called the Rotary Club of Makurdi Sunrise for assistance and they quickly came to our aid.
"They have taken care of all the expenses so far and are taking good care of us as well", he said.
Agbanyi commended the club for coming to their aid, praying that God should grant them all their heart desires.
Both parents of the baby are rural farmers.
The President, Rotary Club Makurdi Sunrise, Mr Charles Nyikaa, said that the club was notified of the incident through the wife of one of their members who was also admitted at the hospital.
Nyikaa said that they had decided to partially adopt the baby following the financial condition of the parents.
He disclosed that though they had already spent over N100,000 on the medical expenses and other needs of the baby, the actual amount for the two operations was yet to be known.
He appealed to the public and corporate organizations to assist the club and less privileged people in the society to improve their standard of living.

I have never seen a Honda CRV with front swivel/ball joint pull.

But then, they suffer rear K-leg a lot. You can actually count that C-RV model without K-Leg on our roads.

what sort of problem where you having on your honda accord

I mean a situation where tire pulls out from its sitting. especially the front tire. sometimes u will find many Honda cars whose front tire pulled out from its sitting on the centre of the road

fellow nairalanders, I write out of experience. I once owned Honda accord 1993 model, very strong and efficient but the challenge was tie rod pull which is common with almost all Honda cars. ever since, I have always had my eyes on Honda CRV 1998-2000 model but my fear is as mentioned above. now I ask car gurus and experienced owners to comment on this as I intend getting one asap

Bro de eod is better dan de A6,de audi is like buying volkswagin passat 2005 to 2009 models be prepared for electrical wahala nd mechanical faults,fuel consumption is abit higher dan de eod,but wen buying the eod avoid V6 engine cuz it usually develops gear box issues wit time. it borders me wen people who have not driven Audi cars stay in their house and announce to any potential Audi buyer that it usually develop electrical fault. that statement is quit ambiguous. Audi a6 scrap will still drive better than a tokunbo EOD. my friend has driven Audi a6 for six years now and yet, it has not developed any electrical fault. each time I drive the car, I feel as if am driving a brand new car.
even if am to buy a car in my dream, it will be European car and Audi is my first choice. EOD will end ur life with pulling of tie rod.
