People should stop believing this PM Express. I think they just sat down inside their room and parlour apartment to concoct these stories. Most of their stories are unique and stranger than true and you hardly see them in other media.

Why should journalist write that an offence took place in Osun State? Why can't they tell us the name of the city/town/village in Osun State?

To add insult to injury, the report said the name of Osun State Police Public Relations Officer is Idrissu Adeboyejo. Lie. Big lie. DSP Folasade Odoro is the Osun State PPRO and her assistant is Mustapha Katayeyanjue

People should stop reading and believing stories from the stable of these charlatans.

Politics / Buhari’s Team In Disarray As NSA Monguno Declares War On Abba Kyari by Seun2019: 4:59pm On Feb 17, 2020
Nigeria’s national security adviser, Babagana Monguno, has accused President Mohammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, of undue and dangerous interference on matters bordering on national security.

Consequently, Mr Monguno has fired a warning memo to all service chiefs to desist from taking further directives from Mr Kyari, according to documents seen by PREMIUM TIMES.

Mr Monguno said Mr Kyari’s directives to service chiefs were sometimes issued without the knowledge much less approval of the president, a practice he said has added to government’s failure to contain insecurity.

“Chief of staff to the president is not a presiding head of security, neither is he sworn to an oath of defending the country,” Mr Monguno, a retired major-general, said in the December 9, 2019, letter.

“As such, unprofessional practices such as presiding over meetings with service chiefs and heads of security organisations as well as ambassadors and high commissioners to the exclusion of the NSA and/or supervising ministers are a violation of the Constitution and directly undermine the authority of Mr President.

“Such acts and continues
meddlesomeness by chief of staff have not only ruptured our security an defence efforts, but have slowed down any meaningful gain that Mr President has sought to achieve.”

Violent attacks linked to bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and vandals have continued to claim multiple lives and properties across the country.

The president has repeatedly promised to curb the crises, many of which he met in office, but has largely failed like his predecessors.

Security experts, opposition and federal lawmakers have responded by advising the president to fire his service chiefs.
The service chiefs have been unable to rein in Boko Haram insurgents since 2015 when Mr Buhari named them to take charge of various arms of the nation’s security architecture.

While previously held swathes of land have been taken back from terrorists, deadly attacks on civilians and military targets have worsened since 2018.

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, said in recent media interviews that the military has degraded insurgents’ capacity to attack Abuja and other cities outside the war-ravaged northeast.

National security sources told PREMIUM TIMES on Monday that the fresh memo showed how Mr Kyari has helped in keeping the service chiefs in office despite overwhelming call for their ouster.

It also underscored the frustration faced by Mr Monguno and others who found Mr Kyari’s influence over the president too domineering for national benefit, sources said.

Mr Kyari and two presidential spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, did not return requests for comments about the memo Monday afternoon.

Politics / Kaduna Winners Chapel Bomber Told Us His Name Was Mohammed, Not Samuel – CAN by Seun2019: 7:47am On Feb 04, 2020
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Rev. John Hayab, says the bombing suspect arrested while attempting to blow up a Winners’ Chapel Parish in Kaduna State on Sunday identified himself as Mohammed Sani when he was apprehended by the church.

Hayab claimed after the church handed him over to the police, the suspect’s name suddenly changed to Samuel Nathaniel.

He, therefore, said there was a need for the matter to be thoroughly investigated.

The CAN chairman said this during an interview with The PUNCH on Monday.

The cleric said, “The church was in session when the young man came in, dropped his bag and exited as if he was going to the toilet, but didn’t come back in time. Some church members became suspicious. The church had put security measures in place such that they monitor everything going on in the church and they even have CCTV cameras.

“They discovered that what was in the bag looked like explosives, so they called the police. Let me state clearly that it was not the police that arrested him. It was the church that arrested him and then handed him over to the police.

“The police came to pick him up at the church. At the time he was interrogated at the church, he told the church that his name was Mohammed Sani, but when he was handed over to the police, the police told everyone that his name was Samuel Nathaniel.”

Hayab said the mix-up in the name of the suspect had further given credence to the claims by the United States that Nigeria remained a terrorist-prone country because of a lack of database.

He said the religion which the suspect practises should not be the focus of public discussions but the act of terrorism.

NAF bombards bandits in Niger, Katsina
The cleric said the police had failed to effectively investigate and profile suspects, adding that a few weeks ago, the force also arrested a hoodlum and erroneously paraded him as a pastor.

The CAN chief said, “This incident justifies the US’ decision to place visa restrictions on Nigerians. The US Government told us that one of the reasons for the visa ban was that Nigeria do not do proper background checks on people.

“So, a criminal can go to one part of Kaduna and bear John, travel to another part of the state and bear Abdullahi or Oluwole or Emeka and nobody will know. So, let us stop focusing on his name but his crime. A criminal is a criminal.

“There are now two versions, one from the church and one from the police.

“I don’t care what his name is. All I know is that a criminal wanted to blow up a church and kill people. The police should find out who his sponsors are and not play politics with names. Last week, a man was paraded by the police for faking his kidnap and identified as a pastor, only for us to find out he was never a pastor.”

Hayab said there were Christians bearing Muslim names and vice versa.

“I know Muslims that bear Paul, I know Christians that bear Mohammed. Our CAN chairman in Borno State is Mohammed Laga. I have a cousin that bears Mohammed Paul. So, let us not focus on the name but on the act of terrorism,” he said.

Hayab said it was curious that the attempted bombing took place at the same time CAN’s rally against terrorism was taking place.

He said the church would not be intimidated by anyone.

Religion / Right Of Reply: Christians Enjoy More Holidays Than Muslims In Nigeria by Seun2019: 3:36pm On Jan 04, 2020
I write to reply to a statement titled "Christians Enjoy More Holidays Than Muslims In Nigeria" allegedly released on Friday, 3rd January 2020, by the Muslim Rights Concern Group (MURIC)

The statement, which was signed by its director "Professor" Ishaq Akintola was said to be in reaction "to claims made by CAN that Christians are being persecuted in the country."

To say I was embarrassed and disappointed by the statement by the so-called professor will be an understatement. It was not only insensitive, it is an attempt to trivialised an allegation as weighty as persecution.

For God sake, how can public holiday be a sensible response to a weighty allegation of persecution as alleged by CAN? I would have expected the Muslim group to sympathise with their Christian counterpart, itemise areas where they are also persecuted (if any) and call on the government to do something urgently in these areas with an attempt to unite the nation.

I will not waste your time by dwelling on the allegation of persecution as the Christian Association of Nigeria has done justice to this. I will only enlighten the professor (If at all he is one) on public holidays in Nigeria since that is his main concern as shown in his statement.

There are eleven (11) public holidays currently recognised by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Most of these were handed over to us by the colonial masters.

The public holidays are:

1. New Year's Day (1 day)
2. Good Friday (1 day)
3. Easter Monday (1 day)
4. Labour Day (1 day)
5. Eid al-Fitr (2 days)
6. Democracy Day (1 day)
7. Eid al-Adha (2 days)
8. Independence Day (1 day)
9. Prophet Mohammed Birthday (1 day)
10. Christmas Day (1 day)
11. Boxing Day (1 day)

Out of these, about seven can be described as religion holidays. They are numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11.

Whereas Nos. 2, 3, 10 and 11 (four days) are Christian holidays, No's. 5, 7 and 9 (five days) are Muslim holidays.

New year's day was never a religion holiday!

In Nigeria, we operate Gregorian calendar which is the calendar used in most part of the world. Although the Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII, the purpose was to correct the mistake of Julius Caesar calendar which miscalculated the length of the solar year by 11 minutes, therefore making the calendar to fall out of sync with the seasons.

Though the Julian calendar included an extra day in February every four years to correct this, it was discovered that the addition of so many days made the calendar slightly too long.

Gregorian calendar devised a variation that adds leap days in years divisible by four, unless the year is also divisible by 100. If the year is also divisible by 400, a leap day is added regardless.

While this formula may sound confusing, it did resolve the lag created by Caesar’s earlier scheme- almost.

At the initial stage, many countries rejected the calendar and refused to operate it. It was however discovered later that it was the most perfect calendar of all the ones available in the world, and hence its acceptability by many nations.

This calendar was handed over to us by Britain, which is our colonial master.

New year's day was introduced as a work-free day to commemorate the beginning of Gregorian year and it is enjoyed by all and sundry, irrespective of religion affliction.

So, how can that be described as Christian holiday?

Let us even pretend for a while that New Year's day is Christian holiday. What this implies is that Christians have five days as holiday in a year, while their Muslim counterparts also enjoy five days as holiday.

Except our dear "professor" has chosen to be ignorant and mischievous, I do not see how difficult it was for him to know that two days each are declared for eid-al fitri and eid-al Adha in Nigeria.

As a Yoruba person, I have been watching the antics of "Professor" Akintola since President Buhari came to power and I
am forced to say that, it is either he is looking for appointment or he is a religion fanatic, which is strange in Yorubaland.

Yorubas are arguably the most liberal tribe in Nigeria, when it comes to the issue of religion. There is no family where you will not find Christians and Muslims, even as siblings. We have never seen religion as an issue in our culture. That is why many Muslim men have Christians as wives and vice-versa. I can not but find it rather worrisome and disturbing the agenda of this negative and divisive man.

It is high time Yoruba leaders called this religion fanatic masquerading as pressure group leader, to order.

We do not want religion war in Yorubaland, nay Nigeria.

Thank you.

On the other hand yhur gf is a grown ass woman and the ball is totally in her court....She has to decide if she's ready to take a bold step like an adult and stick with it...
Her parents are not the one to marry her...neither are they going to stay in the marriage with her..

She's the one wearing the shoe and she should know where it's itching her from...

Just talk to her...Asin heart to heart...pray about it...and leave everything in God's hands...

If she's not yhur wife let her go...yhull find someone better...

Permit me to digress.

You write well but what is this issue with writing "yhu" and "yhur" instead of "you" and "your"? Please work on it before you take it to official correspondence...

Last time I went to hospital, the doctor said I was having gout, in itself gout is not a sickness but mainly as a result of other things, I feel like I'm having kidney issues because, I feel pains on my sides of the stomach, the I fall really sick regular then when I got taking drugs I didn't know I was ulcer prone and I got taking NSAID which got my intestines whole on the damaging part, now i can't take most drugs and I can't get a relief

What you call ulcer is actually not ulcer. I used to suffer from it for years. I could not take drugs and I am always in the hospital for stomach pains and disorderliness. If I take drugs, I will be like commotion in my stomach and sometimes, when you don't eat on time, it will be like there is world war going on in your stomach. Eventually, I got drugs for it and I have not been experiencing this for a while. If you want to try it, though it is herb medicine, I will arrange it for you free of charge. If it works for you, you can come back here to give testimony.

Quote me, if you want to give it a trial. May the Lord heal you.

Politics / Re: Why Was Sowoye In Court On Friday? by Seun2019: 12:44pm On Dec 09, 2019
They had to be in court on Friday for the continuation of their trial.

On Monday, their case was adjourned until Friday when the trial judge threatened to arrest the head of DSS if Sowore and "Mandate" were not released before the next sitting (which was on Friday)

Thursday evening, DSS released the duo to show that they had complied with the order. Meanwhile, they had planned to rearrest him immediately after the sitting on Friday, which was exactly what they did.

Unfortunately for them, Sowore and ors can not be rearrested while on bail, except they flouted the bail conditions or committed a different offence for which they are on trial.

Even, if they'd committed any of the above, suspects can not be arrested inside the courtroom. This has never happened before, not even during the draconial military rule of the past.

What has been happening before was that security operatives will wait for suspects outside the court and rearrest suspects if they have any reason to do that.

This singular act of the DSS is a pointer to the desecration of separation of power, rule of law and the right of people as embarked upon by the administration of General Buhari.

Unfortunately for them, they can not win. Not even the military was able to do this and go scot-free.
