Politics / Re: Should Churches And Mosques Be Taxed? by sewhenu(m): 10:16pm On May 27, 2007
Without any sense of bias, yes religious institutions should be taxed, even as at today some religious bodies pay taxes, its so pathetic that these institutions profess spiritual help and support but most are just out there for profit making, nigeria is a multireligious society so therefore such religious institutions should give something back to the locality in which they operate,in the uk and us they pay !

Politics / Re: Wole Soyinka Talks Too Much - Should Be Brought To Order by sewhenu(m): 11:40pm On May 23, 2007
With all due respect to the person of mr soyinka,he has been a great achiever an international figure, but what i discover about him is that his political relevance in modern day nigeria has seriously waned, his ideas and problem solving models seems too offensive and provocative. He tends to want to incite some kind revolting spirit in the masses when addressing them,as much as i love him and his writings i guess its high time he speaks more positively about this nation or just keep is silence

Religion / Jesus Or Muhammed? Which Has Influenced More Positively Our Way Of Life Today? by sewhenu(m): 11:33pm On May 20, 2007
I look around and see that religion is a major force in the life of most people, its a thing people find solace in when disturbed, most people are either christians, buhdist, taoist or muslims, looking at our world today, religion has played several roles in most major issues worldwide, what positive impact do you think these religious leaders Jesus/Muhammed did for our world and where did you think they went wrong? Some conduct violence in the name of religion,is it justifiable or is it just a case of mental illness?I do not want biased response
Literature / Re: Best African Author: Wole Soyinka or Chinua Achebe? by sewhenu(m): 2:45pm On May 20, 2007
The arguement here is simply easy to decipher,i have read several books by both authors even recent ones from soyinka like his intervention series, and one he called we the people, what i personally discovered is that both authors are accomplished writers, and professors in their field of literature.Mr soyinka's books are great but he is usually too verbose and employs complex verbiages in trying to express his views. Meanwhile mr.Achebe carries the reader along and his quite moderate in his use of words,he writes more constructively for the masses and employs simple analogies that explains his message, yes mr soyinka won the noble price but does that take anything away from the genius of mr achebe? No! They are both superb authors but i'd prefer achebe,i am yoruba.

Its really sad only few of these peoples antecedents can be properly verified, some have acquired these wealth through corrupt means. We all know this but its nice to know at least they are contributing back to the society from which this wealth was stolen.

Politics / Re: Putting Food On The Table Or Sending Satelite Into Space by sewhenu(m): 4:47pm On May 19, 2007
The nigerian problem is complex but no one can deny the fact that we havent moved beyond our position in 99,its sad obj's administration cldnt solve d electricity problem,i hope umaru makes it a top priority in his govt.Yes coming to the satelite thing, its a very great project the govt shld be commended for,it will improve ict awareness in d country and reduce our dependence on foreign internet providers. Its good to criticise the govt where necessary but i think we must be constructive in all our criticisms.
Travel / Re: Is Aba Unsafe For Expats? by sewhenu(m): 10:57am On May 10, 2007
Well tell me where's safe in this world, its a false assertion, every society has its own ills, but saying aba is unsafe is an insult to residents of the place because your life isnt more precious than theirs, got friends living there and ve not heard of anything lately.i'd advise you go start your job there and employ the services of a local that can always help you around there. BE CAREFUL THOUGH!
