Fatality rate is 10% in Iran and 2% in China

STOP you obviously didn't read the article. OYO be your case.

I read the article, The US is also placing preventive measures and infact told their citizens to avoid china.

The US isnt the only country in the world putting preventive measures

Saudi arabia also have placed a temporary ban on pilgrims coming into their country for the lesser hajj

Japan recently closed down its schools temporarily

Italy closed down towns and schools in northern italy from where the disease is spreading to other part of europe

The Uk recently shut down schools in some part of the country

My question to you

What is Nigeria government doing to prevent the virus from entering Nigeria? No travelling warning nothing except wearing of surgical mask

Case study from ebola

Lot of medical personnels and people of first contact died as a result of one man from Liberia who brought the virus to Nigeria. Also people were isolated for days in government hospitals without food because no doctor wanted to meet them.

I have a doctor friend she basically said no hospital is prepared for the virus when it hit our shores, even medical personnels in nigeria arent protected talkless of the ordinary citizen.

Because you like money does not mean you have to put your life at risk.you won't be there to spend it

Nigeria isn't the US..Our weak health facilities will fail us just like it did with Ebola, most people will praise nigeria for reducing Ebola transmission but forget to talk about patients just with a slight high fever who were isolated and starved to death because healthcare worker were scared to check up on them.

Nobody is even talking about the virus financial impact on businesses and to the global economy.

Stop what?

Your article is about the US, I see no similarities with what is going on in northern Italy or what will happen in our shores.

Cities and towns in northern Italy are on lock down, shops are closed, schools are closed, the death row is increasing because of more mismanagement, the Italian govt is seeking support from EU

But how does your article relate with Italy or Nigeria?

This is the first time I will be quoting you here. With all due respect, stop all this panic attacks. CoVid19 is already a problem which we know, proffer solution rather than fanning the embers of anxiety. The bolded message above depicts you as a pessimist.

That said, Drivers should please get a face mask to serve as personal protective measure when in contact with any one feeling feverish, has a flu, cough or shortness of breath (difficulty in breathing). Mostly for inbound passengers from suspicious countries. We should be discreet in handling these situations.

The numbers of the Lagos State public health authorities are: 08023169483, 08033565529 or 08052817243.

so discussing about a virus is trying to cause panic attack, what has been a pessimist or optimist got to do with this.

you accuse me of being a pessimist then went ahead to give safety measures on how drivers to protect themselves, it shows you know the consequences of this virus when it hit our shores, most countries are trying to limit flights from china and other infected countries, Nigeria isnt doing anything and even our information minister said on newspaper that they can stop chinese from flying into Nigeria, what sort of nonsense is that, this is a global epidemic and nigeria is joking. if i am pessimistic let me be, i know the dangers of this virus when it hit nigeria, lesson should be taken from the ebola virus where people of first contact died because of one man from Liberia.

note that the common facemask wont save you but the recoomended N95 respirators isthe best.

Like Gazz suggested, maybe you should read up.
I'll also suggest you read about their continents, how they connect geographically too

You don't need to travel by air to move around European countries.

Even in Nigeria for example, people move to West African countries mostly by road, thanks by air. People move to Cameroun through the sea, thanks by air. People go to Libya and Niger mostly by road than by air

These people are the ones you may likely seat with in a bus, exchange money with, buy and sell to, hug and shake.

Let's just agree to disagree. But my point is, one is more likely to get the virus outside the airport, than around it.

i wrote that already, international means of transportation whether by sea or air, train are were one of the fastest ways the virus spread, in the case of Nigeria, 90% of all transportation into nigeria is through the air, so there is a chance that those who will be infected will get it from an infected person coming through our airport.

to divert a little most cases of contact have been with interaction with Chinese citizens, for instance in Germany, a man from China infected several employees of an auto producer in Bavaria in January, about 400 people who could have been at risk of spreading the virus were identified and placed in isolation in their homes.

another means is the church, in south korea for instance, about half of the 433 confirmed cases were linked to a church called hincheonji Church of Jesus, one of the biggest church in the country, a victim came for healing and infected others.

anyway, you guys need to be careful.

So who should pic them? The yellow taxis? Sadly The virus will be distributed unless people are stopped from moving. The fatality rate is 2.3per in China, for the average Nigerian that can survive Buhari, 0.5per cheesy it's just a flu that will either kill you or you survive it. More people survive than die so there no cause for alarm.

You should read more.

https://www.nairaland.com/5708352/coronavirus-fatality-rates-vary-wildly

what is your business with the yellow taxi, it is up to them to do whatever they want to do, your business should be personal safety not concern about a competitor, if a competitor wants to carry a full blown ebola or coronovirus victims, it is up to them, yours is to save yourself.

it is more than a flu, it is a virus that can destroy our country

according to stats, their are 82,585 world wide cases and 2,814 death

Okay

So drivers should not accept trips from airports, but they can accept from houses, offices, eateries, and all other parts of the country? Is there any inscription on the forehead for those that landed using an international flight?

A good number of international passengers have been checked from their departure before they boarded the plane, especially those from European countries. As much as we ought to be careful, the airport may actually be more safer than the local market or mall.

Kindly hand over the phone to sexylassie please. The one I know won't think this way

My point is if advanced countries can shut down their towns, cities and school and limit international flight from entering their country, why cant you as an individual also limit and reduce the risk of contacting the disease espcially in a developing country like Nigeria with a broken health system

if a good number of International flight have been checked, how come an italian with the virus landed in Algeria? How come the virus is in france, italy, finland, spain, isreal, greece, austia, Australia, Kuwait, india, Pakistan, Switzerland,US, UK,Estonia, Denmark, south korea,Romania, norway, germany, in japan, in iran? a virus that started in wuhan, is now all over the world, how come?

This basically shows that International airports, flights and other means of international transportation were one of the reasons why the virus spread to other countries very fast.

also the virus incubation period is 7-14 days, it means that if an individual contact the virus, the virus carrier wont show signs of illness until 2-14 days, after china, another country with an high exposure is south korea, where half of comfirmed cases were linked to a church called Shincheonji Church of Jesus which is the fourth-largest in the country.

japan recently shut down its public schools over the virus

https://punchng.com/japan-shuts-down-public-schools-over-coronavirus/

if these virus can be over the world, i believe this virus is in Nigeria already especially with almost 120,000 Chinese flying in and out of Nigeria and also Nigerian business men and women flying into Nigeria. one of them them must have brought this virus here but the govt is trying hard to control the news so that people wont panic

So what should they do? Stop driving? Include solutions in your write-up.

Yes, you can stop picking up passengers arriving Nigeria from the airport till the situation is calm globally . You never know who have had a contact with an infected person in transit, incubation period of this virus is 7-14 days, an infected might not know he is infected.

Countries are temporarily stopping visitors from coming, in northern Italy, the death row is increasing, shops are closed and towns are in lock down, so it will be better to protect your self by reading online about it. The normal nose mask won't save you. There is a special mask for this virus. I doubt it is abundant in Nigeria

No offense, but I can't see any meaning in this

How is an uber driver supposed to protect himself from the virus?
He shouldn't pick people from the airport, but pick people outside the airport?

Or better still, in your benevolence, kindly tell us how an average Nigerian can actually protect himself from the virus.

I find the phrase "arguing aimlessly" very insulting. This is our thread, our parlour and our lounge grin

We come here to laugh, fight, have fun do whatever we like

It's a free entry thread, but don't come and tell us that we argue aimlessly. That's insulting

That said, good morning

Lol

It is up to drivers to do what it seems fit to do even avoiding passengers from the airport till this virus is eradicated after all some countries are not issuing visa to visitors, for instance Saudi Arabia and some countries in the middle east have place a temporary ban on visitors.

For a country like Nigeria without good health care, the best preventive measures will be to stop picking inbound passengers for now till the situation is calm globally..as they say, prevention is better than cure.

I strongly believe that this virus will land in our shores, Nigeria isn't taking the issue seriously, now is the time to ban flight especially from affected countries but nothing like that is being done, we are on our own.
Business / Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by sexylassie(f): 8:02am On Feb 27, 2020
Aren't you drivers especially those who pick up passengers from the airport scared of coronavirus, this virus is spreading like wild fire, in no time, this virus will land our shore, some uber and taxify drivers might be the first point of this virus, have you kept protective measures in place, know that if you catch this virus from a rider, this e hailing companies you worship so badly will abandon you.

This virus is in every almost continent except south america, in Africa, Algeria is the first country to have it, it was brought by an Italian who knew he had the virus.

Instead of arguing aimlessly, prepare for coronavirus because I am sure that when this virus land our shores, Lagos is in trouble, it will practically destroy our health care system.

I think you're misunderstanding the point (or my point)

Nobody cares if she's a prostitute. I don't care. One of my closest friend in ehailing is a whorrre. We talk a lot, and i don't care.

Codedruns came in because she scammed a driver, insulted him, blocked him, rinsed and repeated the process for his colleagues that pleaded. If she was working in Gtbank or Shell, i can confidently tell you that we would still have reached out to her colleagues or her employers.

Stop making it look like people attacked her more because she hoes around. No. They attacked her because she was a remorseless, wicked thief. Uber drivers carry whorres every weekend, yet how many come here to expose them? Or have you seen anyone come here to post the details of an ashawo that paid him his fare? Common

You and I are both on the same page of "we-will-not-involve-her-family". I wouldn't do that too cool

But do i pity her? Hell No. The moment she walked out that man's door without paying, she made up her mind for evil. This is the consequence. Let her handle it with the same mindset she used to scam angry

you win, i dont want to argue about this no more, the deed has been done, we cant reverse it.

Did anybody hack her phone to get her coded runs CV? When you paste something on the internet, you post it for the world to see. Or is it only Unilag and Covenant people that will see it? Maybe Invictus Obi should sue the FBI for getting his mail from nairaland.

If she goes to court, she'll first be chilling in detention before talking about sueing whoever grin

But let me ask you a question ma? Be honest oh

If this girl had refused to pay, even after all our efforts and someone went on to reveal her codedruns history to her family, would you still be angry?

if she had refused to pay, it is up to you to use whatever you seem fit to collect your money, i know that online shaming can be effective in collecting debt but it shouldn't also be used to ridicule or blackmail a family to the extend of the victim committing suicide to save face, i still stand with my word, in a sane society, even in detention, she can still sue, also sue taxify and could also lead to the ban of the guy you guys are helping

to be sincere, i supported the action of your guys in calling her out but once you guys started involving parent, family members and class mates, i was against it, that is carrying it to far.

i am sure, it was her number you used to track her to coded runs, also we shouldnt forget that her face was covered,

You're getting it wrong ma

I don't know if you've been following this thread, but we do put in a lot of effort in searching for our "sweat" from scammers

First, we bombard with calls, and when it's unfruitful, we dig deep grin grin

There was a woman that scammed a driver here and she never paid till today. There are men too. The reason is because their numbers have no presence on the internet. I have a number that scammed me till today and I can't find her

So it's not about males being scared of males. It's just an unfortunate girl that, despite having all her info on the internet, decided to do the crime

I hope you'll be here when another lady scams a driver, aion't have anything on her

I am not against calling anybody to pay her debt, my main problem is including family members into this matter, if someone own you, you have the right to collect it in a more civil matter without involving family members, this problem happened between the driver and the rider not between her, her family and the driver, in a more civilised country, she can sue and will win.
