Religion / Re: Who Is God? by seyisolu(m): 3:19am On May 19, 2015
ONE of the greatest revelations in the Scriptures is that of the mystery of God. Although there are many people who believe in His existence, few there are who know Him in truth. And it is the accurate knowledge of Him rather than mere believe in His existence that is essential to salvation.

Owing to the sinful nature of men, and more so because of the ignorance of many about God, the devil always finds them easy tools in carrying out his evil schemes against God and His works. Recently, the wave of godlessness in the United States and parts of Europe rose so high that some who had done a lot of research in religious studies lost their sense of propriety, and even clergymen were drifted into apostasy.

The TIME news-magazine (April 8, 1966) published in the United States came out with a cover bearing the startling question: "Is God Dead?” The cover story itself revealed how intellectualism minus God can make a beast of man. Yes. "Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish." - Psalm 49: 20.

The writer of the long story stated that the question was no longer a taunting jest of sceptics for whom unbelief was the test of wisdom. He added: "Even within Christianity, now confidently renewing itself in spirit as well as form, a small band of radical theologians has seriously argued that the churches must accept the fact of God's death, and get along without him…. The current death-of-God group believes that God is indeed absolutely dead, but proposes to carry on and write a theology without theos, without God."

The least that can be said of these "contemporary concepts of God" is that they are a gay of misconceptions from corrupt minds. Since it is evident that such ideas are trumped up at the instance of Satan for a wicked purpose and that they are inimical to the spiritual well-being of men, they must be dismissed as unworthy of consideration.

Mystery

No one can by academic research or scientific instruments find out God or understand Him. The mystery of God is far beyond human knowledge. It was Elihu who said: "Behold, God is great, and we know Him not, neither can the number of His years be searched out." (Job 36: 26.) And the Psalmist declared: "O, LORD, how great are Thy works! and Thy thoughts are very deep, A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this." - Psalm 92: 5,6.

There are questions about God often asked and which people including clergymen and professors have found difficult to answer. How is God like? Is He a person? Has He a body? Or has He a form or shape? And where is He?

It is possible to provide satisfactory or acceptable answers to these questions if only God through His Son working through His Spirit reveals Himself to us and makes us have a clear insight into the revelation of divine truth as contained in the Holy Bible. Said Jesus Christ: "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him." - Matthew 11: 27.

What is obvious in this statement of Jesus Christ is that the matter of knowing God, rather than being scientific or philosophical, is highly spiritual. It is by revelation and that through the Spirit of God, we repeat the sober words of St. Paul in his epistle to the Corinthians are worthy of note in this respect. He stated: "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God…. But the natural (worldly, carnal) man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." – 1 Corinthians 2: 11-14.
Religion / Re: Christ Was Killed On A Wednesday - Gks by seyisolu(m): 3:07am On May 19, 2015
Christ had celebrated his last Passover on Tuesday evening (John 13:27-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23). He was arrested that Tuesday night and was harassed and judged throughout the night (John 18:1-6,27-39). He was nailed to the stake on the “third hour” – 9 am – and died at the “ninth hour” – 3 p.m. – on Wednesday (Mark 15:25,33-37). After Christ’s death, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus – two of his disciples – obtained permission from Pontius Pilate to inter the body in a new tomb because the “even was come” and “because it was the preparation”, that is, the day before the Sabbath of the Passover and in line with God’s injunction in Deuteronomy 21:22,23 to the effect that the body of a man hanged on the tree should be buried that same day.
Saturday Resurrection
Among the Jews, 12 hours daylight (6.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.) was calculated as one day. (John 11:9) while the other 12 hours (6.00 p.m. – 6.00 a.m.) is taken as one night. Thus, Jesus was in the grave for three clear days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and three nights – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. He rose at the end of Saturday at sunset in fulfillment of Matthew 12:38-40.
That was why when Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James (Luke 24:10) among others came to the tomb the night after the Sabbath, they found it empty – Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:1-9; John 20:1.
Another logical way of knowing the day Christ was killed is this: since he rose at the end of Saturday it is only plausible to then count three days backwards; Saturday, Friday and Thursday; and three nights; Friday night, Thursday night and Wednesday night – the day he was killed.

From the foregoing the idea of Sunday morning resurrection of Christ can be seen to be erroneous and Scripturally unacceptable. The understanding that he was killed on Wednesday makes clear to all the grand fulfilment of our Saviour’s words, proves his sonship and confirms his stature as the greatest prophet of God for all ages.(Deuteronomy 18: 15; Acts 3: 23; 4: 10-12) There is therefore no biblical reason whatsoever to observe “Good Friday” or even “Easter” which most churches regard as “the greatest Christian festival”.

It is the truth that give the people salvation as Christ himself said: “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32.

CHRIST WAS KILLED ON A WEDNESDAY

One of the interesting incidents of old which God Almighty used to illustrate salient divine truths to prepare man for the glorious reward of eternal life in His everlasting Kingdom is the story of Jonah. It is more than a story of obedience and God’s mercy on repentant sinners. The story foretells the entombment and miraculous resurrection of Jesus the true Messiah mankind must look to for salvation. It also clearly attests to the authenticity of God’s word contained in the Holy Bible.
Three Days, Three Nights
Jesus Christ himself left no room for doubt as to the duration of his entombment. The account in Matthew 12:38-40 states as follows: “Then certain of the Scribes and of the Pharisees answered saying, we would a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them. An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
In the account just read, Jesus Christ said he will be in the grave for three days and three nights, which is 72 hours. His words in regard to the period of his entombment must fulfil to the letter. (Matthew 24:35) It should be pointed out that Jehovah being a God of exactness does all His things on schedule. For example the Jews left Egypt on the “self-same day” that completed the 430 years God had promised they will stay there. (Exodus 12:40,41; Galatians 3:17) Jesus Christ was born into the world “at the fullness of time” (Galatians 4:4) And he could only be killed at the time appointed by God. (John 7:cool The period Christ will stay in the grave must also be as the Lord had foretold.
It should be noted that when Christ was killed two of his disciples went to Pontius Pilate for permission to bury him while the chief priests and the Pharisees sought to properly secure the burial place of Christ “lest his disciples come by night and take him away”. Now if he was killed on Friday the Chief Priest and the Pharisees could not have on the following day (Saturday) violated the more stringent law of the weekly Sabbath by going to Pilate to make their request. (See John 19:39-42; Matthew 27:62-66) Thus, Christ could not have been killed on Friday. Such an erroneous view gives the impression that he stayed in the grave for only two nights and one day and is derogatory of Christ’s unassailable position as the Son of God.

The Passover Sabbath
Many people confuse the day Christ was killed because of a misunderstanding of the “Sabbath” which the Jews were to observe on the eve of his death. According to St. John’s account “The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.” – John 19:31.
The text just cited spoke of a “Sabbath” that was an “high day”. Which Sabbath was that? It should be noted that some days other than the seventh day of the week were also called Sabbaths. For instance, the Jews have Sabbaths for the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of Harvest, Festival of blowing of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement and the Passover. – Leviticus 23: 1-44.
Proof that Jesus was killed on Wednesday is the prophecy of Daniel the prophet that the Messiah shall be cut off (or die temporarily) in the midst of the literal week of seven days which is Wednesday. -Daniel 9:27.

The Day of Preparation
Under the old covenant, the day following the killing of Passover lamb was always designated a Sabbath. (Leviticus 23:5-7) Jesus Christ was killed on the fourteenth day of the first month of the Jews known as Nisan or Abib, the day on which the Passover lamb was slain. (Exodus 12:1-6) The day he was killed was the “preparation” for the Passover Sabbath to follow – which was “an high day”. (John 19

You omitted the instrument God used to found the God's Kingdom Society. In the person of St. Gideon Meriodere Urhobo( of blessed memory).

The God's Kingdom Society is purely a Christian Organisation founded by the Almighty God through the instrumentality of St. Gideon Meriodere Urhobo, of the blessed memory. St. G. M. Urhobo, who was the first President of the GKS, was the instrument chosen by God through Jesus Christ, according to the election of grace, to accomplish His purpose.

The history of the God's Kingdom Society is linked with the biography of her first President, Brother G. M. Urhobo, in respect of his career as a preacher of the gospel. He hailed from Urhobo tribe and was the second son of a kind pagan gentleman - the late Ukoli of Agbasa village in Warri, Midwestern State of Nigeria. He was educated at the Warri Government School, and taught in Roman Catholic schools as well as the Government school, Warri, in the twenties. In June 1930, he joined the Posts and Telegraphs Department as a postal clerk and telegraphist.
Undoubtedly, his strong inclination for divine knowledge fired his interest in the Holy Bible which he spent most of his time to study. The most significant experience of his life came when he fell into a trance and received the Lord's commission. It was this remarkable occurrence that brought about the radical change in his life from a civil servant to an adroit preacher of the gospel! There was never a time he equivocated with regard to his spiritual calling; rather, he ever so well made open declarations about the grace the Lord bestowed upon him - and he lived up to it. Here is his own testimony:
"After three and half years diligent and prayerful studies of the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ revealed himself to me in a vision and commanded me to go and proclaim the good news of God's Kingdom (or 'Gospel of Peace') to all nations as the only remedy for all human sufferings and woes; to expose all the false doctrines which Satan had used to deceive the people and to keep them in ignorance of God's Kingdom and purpose of creation; and to pronounce God's written judgment against all wickedness".
Under the circumstances, it was virtually impossible for him to continue to serve under the Nigerian Colonial Government. He had no other alternative than to obey the Lord's command, like St. Paul of Bible fame (Acts 26:12-20), and devote his life wholly to Christ's Ministry as "the Lord's freeman". So, in February 1933, he resigned from the Government Service and became a full-time Minister of the gospel of Christ. This was quite in harmony with the biblical injunction, which says: "For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price: be not ye the servants of men" - 1st Corinthians 7:22,23.
The resignation of Brother G. M. Urhobo from the civil service for no other reason than that he, being anointed by the Lord, was going to give his whole time to God's Kingdom service, gave cause for his own relatives and many of his colleagues and friends to view his sanity with suspicion. It was really difficult for the unspiritual to appreciate his decision and course of action in throwing to the winds, "for the love of preaching" as some said, such an enviable post in the Government Service in those days when men of his social rank were regarded as the elites of society!

Right from the start of his career as a preacher, Brother Urhobo became an object of hatred and reproach as Christ truly said would happen to the chosen ones. (John 15:18,19; 17:14-16). His relatives and friends forsook him. Some said he was mad; others called him a devil and deceiver just as Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of mankind, was called. (John 10:20). Many false reports about him were published and circulated by certain people and the Watchtower Society warning the people to avoid him because of his teachings, which they considered to be revolutionary.

His worst antagonists were among the members of the Watchtower Society and the Roman Catholic Church.
Owing to the persecution in Warri, he went to Sapele in June 1933. There, too, it was not all roses for him. His expository lectures in which he criticised the false doctrines of "churchianity" stirred great enmity of the clergymen against him.

Religion / Re: Was Jesus Born On December 25? Is December 25 Jesus' Birthday? by seyisolu(m): 6:54pm On Dec 17, 2014
Christ lived for 33.5 years.
Let's say he was born in December. This means he reached his 33 years in December. Now let's count 6 months, we will land on June. Unfortunately, easter or the celebration of Christ's birth is not always done in June but April. Now let's count 6 months from October,we will definitely land in April. Therefore, christ was no born in December but October.
The God's Kingdom Society(GKS) has been preaching the truth about the date of Christ birth.
We do not know the exact day but the month is now known. Thank God for this revelation through Saint G.M.Urhobo, the instrument God Almighty used to found the GKS.
