The auto industry has a very confusing family tree. The past few years have seen partnerships, sales, separations, bankruptcies, and entire divisions killed off, making it difficult to keep up with who owns which car brands.

As automakers slim down to become more profitable and efficient, a number of changes have been made in recent years. We have seen storied names, such as Hummer, Mercury, and Pontiac, fade away into the history books. We have seen others, such as Chrysler, Jaguar, and Volvo, find new international corporate parents. And some, such as Aston Martin, remain in flux.

To help clear up some of the confusion, we present a basic road map to navigate who owns which car brands among the major automotive companies that sell in the United States. Of course, the list is definitely subject to change. To find out how the major brands perform, see our brand report cards.
BMW owns: Mini and Rolls Royce.

Fiat owns: Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Ram and SRT.

Ford Motor Company owns: Lincoln and a small stake in Mazda.

General Motors owns: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. GM owns a controlling interest in Opel and Vauxhall in Europe and Holden in Australia. (The U.S. Treasury Department is in the process of selling off the remaining GM stock holidngs.)

Honda owns: Acura.

Hyundai owns: Kia.

Tata Motors (India) owns: Jaguar and Land Rover.

Mazda mostly independently owned (Ford has small stake)

Mitsubishi is independently owned.

Daimler AG owns: Mercedes-Benz and Smart.

Nissan owns: Infiniti. (Nissan, in turn, is owned by Renault.)

Saab is owned by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS).

Subaru: Owned by Fuji Heavy Industries with Toyota a minority partner.

Tesla: Toyota is a minority partner. Partnership with Daimler AG.

Toyota Motor Company owns: Lexus, Scion, Daihatsu and Hino Motors, with a stake in Fuji Industries (Subaru's parent company) and Isuzu.

Volkswagen owns: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, and overseas-brands SEAT and Skoda.

Volvo is owned by Chinese-automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, aka Geely.

Jamaica, long associated with a vibrant pot-smoking culture, on Tuesday passed a law decriminalizing possession of small amounts of the leaf it calls ganja.
“Ganja law gets green light,” the Jamaican Observer said in its online version.
Minister of National Security Peter Bunting said the change came after an “elephantine” slog through parliament that took decades.
“To describe this Bill’s development as elephantine, is to label it in euphemistic terms since the Parliamentary deliberations on it commenced as far back as 38 years ago,” he said in a statement.
He added: “It eliminates an unnecessary source of friction between police and citizens, and ensures that our young people are not gratuitously shackled with criminal records.”
The new law makes possession of small quantities of pot a non-arrestable offense that can instead result in a fine.
It will also permit the use of marijuana for religious, medical, scientific, and therapeutic purposes.
Finally, it will provide for regulation through the granting of licenses to permit the development of a lawful industry for medical ganja and industrial hemp, the minister’s statement said.
“It is significant because it begins to correct decades of criminalizing tens of thousands of Jamaicans, mostly poor young black males, for possession of a little ‘spliff’,” Bunting said.
“This progressive legislation also begins to correct the victimization of our Rastafarian brethren which started in colonial times and continued after Independence,” he added

I was reading through a particular thread here few days ago and I stumble where someone wrote an epistle to Nigerians titled: “Be a responsible data User, avoid cheat and tweak”.
I sat down and thought for a moment, and came to conclusions that..
==>Android Operating system consumes more data than normal operating system…
No doubt. But this alone should pose a question to our telecom provider that there should be a cheaper Android data plan instead of selling data to Android users at an exorbitant price. Imagine Airtel BIS Planthat was newly upgraded goes for N1,400 (3GB)but this same Airtel Network charges Android plan 2GB for 2K which won’t even last you upto two weeks.
The question is… Is it my fault that Android OS consumes more data that every other OS? Why will a typical Glo bb user get data subscription for 1k (3GB)and a typical Android user get 2k(2.5GB)?
==>What we call cheat is not cheat, it is simply correct application of knowledge.
How do you expect me to go for a data bundle 4.5GB at the rate of N2,500 when I know quite alright that I can simply customize my smartphone IMEI and get 6GB for 2K in less than 5min. if you are in my shoe, won’t you do the same?

Therefore I say,tweaking imei is not corruption… It is simply an easy way of making data usage easier for the common man. Can you imagine, I was reading through a tech news in one of the popular website, and I discover that Airtel Kenya gives 18GB for N2,650… Please Airtel NG, is this normal? And you expect us to manage 2GB for N2,000? Why can’t they just be fair in data dealings to all smartphone operating system in NG.
==>If data sellers are no longer making headway, they should look for something else to do.
After all MTN started this by limiting data share to just 10 person for data resellers. Now, most Chinco(chinese) Android smartphone manufacturer see’s Nigeria as a dumping ground for duals sim Android phones; thereby partnering with our telecom to give free 500MB for 12months if that particular device is patronize… is this fare justice?
All we want is cheap data usage on All android & iPhone device. But mind you, tweaking continues. I’ll tweak until I get result.
And to you reading this right now, why don’t you stop imei tweaking and go for the normal legal data plan?
