More awareness and more people pumping money into the financial markets/ companies especially being an avenue for people who do not have jobs again, or underemployed, retirees( including sacked persons paid gratuities) pumping in their life savings hoping to earn interests. With commercial papers being sold( apart from other means), these companies earn more and become mega in financial worth. |

enque:Thanks a lot |
Dondav:Which Meristem website or app are you using though I don't like too many apps in my phone? I know of meritrade. |
ezegold4we:Please, is this under MMF or are they banks too? Are upfront interest allowed to be taken? |
If Nigeria made this list because of religion, I'm sure Cameroon will be because of another reason cos Islamic religion isn't violent the way it is in Nigeria rather, a peaceful country unless based on human rights abuses if they talk too much against the government. |
Beeron:Good to know. Around OBJ's time, investors could do turn overs of minimum 50% profit and above 3 or 4 times in 1 year. Around GEJ, it was like 2 to 3 times. Towards the end of PMB's government in 2015, it was 2ce, as of 2016 ending: once per year. As of 2019, once in 2 yrs and has continued that way for several long term investors who want to buy LOW and sell 'MEDIUM' to HIGH.... These days the daily/ weekly/ monthly investors who want faster turn overs with smaller profits are more rampant and this takes knowledge, experience, to do as losses could be more frequent reason why newbies dread stock trading and take solace in MMF, Fixed deposits, government instruments etc. Even those who aren't newbies who were used to those profits then are usually careful and have to research more now before taking a stand( BUY entry price). |
Is the rumor that Obj's daughter is coming out as governor true? |
The cons of APC is getting power at all cost without empowering and making life better for the masses also, having the mentality that Nigerians shouldn't be too rich unless you are part of their party. The Nigerian masses seem to have amnesia, hate to see and state things objectively and easily forgive( good virtue though) our politicians especially when they can be bought over with as little as a plastic of rice or garri. However, we do not have any OUTSTANDING political figure as we speak today that will carry along ALL Nigerians ( including in a way one tribe won't feel more important than the other) for Nigerians to collectively rally round for. |
demstone:Obidenz? For a Southerner that Obi's boys ridiculed our origin in the name of Biafr? With all the mouth APC made during Good luck's time, magic was and is expected from them since they thought what Good luck was achieving could be easily attained. |
Politicians will spoil the economy with high inflation and exchange rate then as election gradually approaches begin to do what they should have done initially eg taking back N700= $1 to N350= $1 (at least ) but would prefer to behave in an economic 'rascality' behaviour and now trying to appear like economic messiahs b4 election. It's well. |
ogoo4real:Seems investment corporations and banks are judging their annual interest rates with the strengthening of the Naira( exchange rate).Hoping it doesn't drop below this. And government will still take its WHT. |
After his boys bad mouthed the Southerners, he is a NO NO for us. |
leocollins:A continuation of 2025.... |
Polaris bank too will put a Post No Debit on your new account till you allow them visit your home to verify address. Had to leave my small cash there and that was the end with them. Unless he is into fraudulent vacts if not, restricting his account is bad. |
Dollar isn't doing well so Naira should be strong.... Not just Naira, some other currencies are stronger these days. Hoping this strengthened state would rub off on inflation going down. |
Batman2412:I'm even more concerned whether those doing MMF, Fixed deposits, Treasury bills (and all that takes 10% WHT) are entitled to a TCC( Tax Clearance Certificate), which may be essential for some stuffs eg travel, etc? Those knowledgeable on this should please comment |
0Brien:Hi. Have you tried APEL( Stockbrokers and Registrar)? It has been in the business for long.... Unless you have already tried them b4. |
tempest12:Seems you are doing what I'm doing too. |
Creditalerts:Promote Palmpay Smart Earn? Na WA oooo, newbies( lol). That is what I saw in Cowry's website and copied to explain. They are honest middlemen, YES...But still have staff to pay also..... One love |
Cowry isn't bad but what I discovered: From source ( investment SEC company) Vs theirs ( Cowry's) annual interest rate-- Meristem 18.46% vs 17.65% Arm: 17.85% vs 16.46% Trustbanc (possibly higher)....vs 19.37% You will notice about 0.81% to 1.39%( hidden fees) + N250 ( obvious fees). But Cowry company is a good business outfit since customers don't like to feel they have been cheated( lol). The good thing is that everyone can do what their mind leads them to do as per company to invest in instead of leaving idle funds which can easily be taxed without it giving you any profit. The financial market needs MANY players as this makes it a robust one so, all well and good.... Whatever will bring more people to do this instead of gambling on betna.ija etc. |
francollimasso:Any store in particular or name of online store? Thanks |
3 generations: father, son and granddaughter wiped off because of crime and love for I'll gotten wealth. |
Creditalerts:With 19+% annual interest? Great. Thanks |
Creditalerts:Hi. How much please is Cowry's charges for MMF investments? Sometimes, I m careful doing app stuffs, but Cowry seems to be notable too |
Creditalerts:Middle man? I don't understand, I have been in this stuff since 2006. |
amnwa:Palmpay is a credible bank, including 1)Rand Merchant bank with UBA too( for Smart Earn) with Arm company at 17.85% flex( withdrawable anytime) and 2) Rand Merchant Bank with First Trustees for Arm Money Market fixed income at 17.85% but for 1 month minimum. To enjoy this products, for Smart Earn put bigger amounts as charges drops to 0.86% eg for N1m but if lesser amount, charges can be 1% and for Arm Money Market Fund of same 17.85% per annum, at N150,000 and above, a flat rate of N2,000 is deducted as charges instead of 1.5% which will make it higher. With N1m it's still N2000 flat rate as if the charges is at 0.2%, this means if government takes its 10% tax, you are paying total of 10.2% tax. Both allows you to start small, but because of the extra fees, you may enjoy your profit of left at least 2 months. Doing the others with higher interest rate is risky because those are funds they put into equity/ stocks which gives more yield but also easy crashing of capital when stocks crash. For Smart Earn, with N1m, total deducted is 10.86%. So, one can look at Mutual funds of other firms and compare annual interests. However, compared to Palmpay's Fixed Savings( Deposit), it's 20% per annum but you have to leave your funds for 1year. It means also that your actual interest per year with 10% tax deduction is 20%-2%= 18%( even with smaller amounts). And for Arm Money Market of 1 month fixed with 10.2% tax deduction:17.85%-1.8207=16.0293%. And for Arms Smart Earn if it's N1m with tax deduction of total of 10.86%, your actual annual interest is 17.85%-1.93851=15.91149% annual interest. Diversification is good though which is spreading your investments. |
